"Looking to VENT" with J.Crew

This is the weekly "Looking to VENT with J.Crew" post, a place to share our not-so-stellar experiences with J.Crew.

If you have recently experienced a frustrating situation with J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including poor experiences with purchases & orders, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. Sentimental reminder of vents and grumbles from the past - I haven't seen the French Print Popover IRL yet, but I enlarged my tiny iPhone picture, and right there next to the teeny US passport I believe I saw the yellow metal luggage which Dear Leader sent to a few favored customers (not to me, I didn't even get the fruit basket). I need to go see this for myself.

  3. No promo on new arrivals...I'm going to wait it out. There are a couple things I want to try...but not at full price when promos are usually right around the corner

  4. Someone tell me where the cat is in this "cat print blouse"!

Anyway, I'm gonna go try the merino tunic...hoping it will be a flattering basic to wear on days when I want to cover my behind : )

    1. It looks like two tiny siamese cats (white body, black tail, face and legs) over and over to me. Definitely a little strange though. Looks more Forever 21 than J.Crew :)

    2. Thanks for pointing out the cat, Shannon. I might've not found it either. My question is why can't they ever comb that model's hair.

  5. The 10-week delivery of rewards irks me to no end. If they sent me my rewards, and gave a girl a 20-percent off promo, I would buy right now. I need something to think about other than snow!

I also think, the month of January is awful in J. Crew stores. I think the company needs to transition better from holiday to late winter/ early spring. I have major Christmas gift cards and I have no desire to use them until March/April. How is that good marketing? And, I'm like this company's biggest fan. Honest.

  6. Has anyone else noticed the constant fluctuations in price with the Pixies?
I ordered them last January for 106CAD, and loved them so much that I wanted to order another pair. Since the first ones I bought were waitlisted, they arrived two months later, and the price had gone up to 118!!
Now they're 98 - do I just bite the bullet and assume that's the lowest they'll go?

  7. Not happy that a necklace I bought three weeks ago and wore twice is now chipped and broken in several places. I don't remember the name of it (an in-store purchase), but it was a medium blue painted necklace. Looking back on it, the necklace was in a tangled pile of jewelry in a glass canister by the register, and maybe it sustained damage there (and I didn't examine it closely enough before purchase). It was marked down heavily so I don't think I'll make an issue of it with JC, but I'm pretty irked.

  8. Picked up the catalog while strolling in Miami Beach, didn't pack it to take home. I can wait.

  9. How can J.Crew sell the patent leather Martina wedges in dark aubergine for $159 on the retail site, but sell the EXACT SAME shoe on the factory site for $55? Both prices are before any additional discounts are added, and both are the same shoe.

I bought the factory version that came in retail packaging with Martina emblazoned on the box, but there was a haphazardly applied Sylvia sticker nearby. I'm glad I paid the factory price-- but if I had purchased through retail, I'd be ticked. I think both channels are final sale, which is further limiting.

  11. Is it just me or a lot of the stuff right now at J Crew look very not feminine? I find most of the stuff a bit too menswear inspired or sportswear inspired... I like it but I would love to have something other than that... I can go to Zara for things like that and I expect something different I guess from J. Crew. :-/ There. That's me venting.

  12. I just ordered two sale dresses and was stoked to get them at such a deep discount. Problem was, when the shipment arrived to my house, the package contained the correct packing slip but only a pair of flats that I did NOT order.... no dresses. And when I called them to ask them to rectify the situation, both dresses were sold out. Luckily they found the dresses in-stores, but I'm not impressed.
