Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Shop final sale with the Irl Pic Guide. The latest promo & sale items are at the top. I've listed recent in-store info there as well.

  2. Will drop in since I will be downtown anyway.

    2. Hi Rose, did you go to both locations? I'm assuming the sale section is pretty empty at this point.

    3. Hi injanuity! I only went to the Pacific Centre one and the sale section was quite good. The is also a third location now in Park Royal, in case you are in that area.

  4. OT question: Has anyone used Paypal to pay for an order that had a backordered item? Does the amount for the backordered item deduct from your account once it's shipped (like when you use a CC) or do you pay for it all at once?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. In the past, the amount gets deducted once it has shipped.

    2. My (back)order was cancelled because of paypal .

    3. Yeah, there have been quite a few complaints on JCA about PP and backordered items but I can't remember what they are and can't seem to search to blog like I usually can (what's up with that? No results for stuff I know I've seen).

    4. I would be careful about buying through PP. I bought something from Madewell last year and used PP to pay for it. Unfortunately, it didn't fit, and when I went to return it, all they would do is give me store credit, not a refund to my PP account. Luckily, I found other things and used the store credit, but I was irritated about it am very choosy about what I'll use PP for.

    5. There is no problem returning stuff at jcrew, that i payed with PP.
They just put it on any credit card.

    6. Hi - I have and they deduct the amount once the item is shipped, however, I had an item cancelled on paypal. I called CS and since it was on sale and still available they put it thru - do not understand that....

      Delete
    7. I inquired with CS about this once, and this is what their reply was with regard to PayPal and waitlisted items, and this was the response:

"When placing orders with PayPal we are only able to hold authorizations for 30 days. If the item doesn't become available within that time limit then we will need a different form of payment to use. You should be notified via email if we need another form of payment."

So that's an explanation, but clearly many people have not been notified that a new form of payment is required...

  6. Hi everyone! I am looking to order a wedding dress but waiting for a percentage off sale. Does anyone remember if there were any percentage off (regular price) sales around this time last year? Or any promo codes sent to cardholders? Thanks! Hate to pay full price...

    1. LP3000 - Last year the promo was 30% off final sale from 1/7 - 1/20/13.

Full price promos used to be rare, but were more common in 2013. The entire promo landscape was very different at J Crew in 2013 over other years. A mgr told me they had to do it to be more competitive with other retailers that are offering promos all the time. I think wedding gowns are often excluded from fp promos. They were excluded in the 30% off GIFTNOW promo that ran during Dec. You can see the legalese here on JCA.

      Delete
    2. A lot of the time the wedding collections are excluded from regular promos. I bought the Sara gown (and am wearing it next week!) and was told that it would never be subject to promo discounts unless it went on final sale. Good luck!!

    3. That's one of the two I am considering (along with the Percy)! Did you order your normal JCrew size? It's so beautiful. Congrats!

    4. If I remember correctly, the yearly (or sometimes twice yearly) wedding dress sale is usually in Jan or Feb.

      Delete
    5. I ordered my wedding dress (the Heidi!) through the in store consultant and got a global 25% promo off the purchase. May be worth checking out the next time one of those promos come along. Hth!

      Delete
  7. My recollection is that there is a once-per-year wedding clearance, mostly on dresses that are already on sale. I don't recall a promotion for full price dresses.

  10. I stopped in for a few minutes - 40% off sale still going strong and sale section was pretty packed. Nothing I was interested in looking at or trying on. January and February are kind of a fashion no-man's land around here. It's too cold for anything except big boots and puffer coats (things you only need 1 of, for the most part) and none of the cute stuff that's being rolled out now can be worn for about 3 months. It's a good time for me to window shop/wait for sale.

  11. would love to get the buffalo check coat in sz 0! I just called CS after the chat service kept failing on me and they said they couldn't find sale item inventory for me. PSH. in my experience, the chat reps never had any trouble letting me know which store to call....

    ReplyDelete

    1. suisui - Chat has been hit or miss. A lot of times I'll click on the icon when it's bold and get the "sorry we missed you" msg.

I placed a WIFFY and never heard anything. I called in once and was told they were backlogged because of the holiday. I've since called in to see if it was located. It was not. It's been 5 days now and I *still* haven't recvd notice that it wasn't found. Of course I found it myself on a popback. I've also been recently denied a store inventory search via chat, with the rep telling me s/he didn't have access to the info. (shrugs)

I would try a store and ask them to look it up. Good luck.

      Delete
    2. What Gigi said - per Rose in yesterday's post: "call the closest store and ask them to look up inventory. They are usually able to tell you what stores still have the item in stock. Then call the store directly and ask them to do a charge/send."

      Good luck!

      Delete
    3. thanks so much, ladies! i was able to track one down after calling 3-4 stores. it's strange how "inventory" information varies by the person looking it up. When I called my local B&M, they told me the only stock in the country was showing at a store in NC and when I called them, they said they didn't have any, but stores in GA and FL were showing stock, and so forth. anyhow, SO EXCITED!

  12. Does anyone know if the collection store on Madison in the UES in NY has final sale going? I live close by and thought of stopping by, but not sure if they put items on sale (I know they carry a mix of collection and regular items). Thanks ladies!

    1. In my experience there is not a sale section. If they have any items that are on sale in their inventory, they are good about checking and honoring the sale price.

      Delete
    2. I was just there. They are advertising the 40% and items on sale are marked down (in general). They also have a small "sale" rack in the back. Very little jewelry left. HTH!

      Delete
  13. Thanks! For some reason I cannot reply to my own thread! Do you know if they mark things on sale at all? Or do you have to know the item is on sale? Would they have the 40% off promo?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. As teacups said they don't have a sale section, but sometimes items out on the regular racks have sale stickers on them. They usually don't post a sign for extra 40% off, but if you ask them to match the promo that other stores are doing they should comply. They will also match online prices, so always check on your smartphone before buying!

  15. Did stop by to do a return, sale section bursting at the seams. 40% off. Did see the pack green schoolboy $109.99, quite a range of sizes and the buffalo check jacket $209.99, sizes 12 & 6. Think there was some JCAs looking for both. Park Meadows, CO store.

  16. Can anyone comment on IRL likes or dislikes of the new Teddie and Sophie handbags ? To me they look nice. I think JCrew did not do well with the hughes or the Claremont. The bags of old were better ...

    Replies
    1. I'm not a purse expert nor do I buy high-end bags (Coach has been my limit) just so you know my level of purse knowledge...I saw the Teddie irl.  It caught my eye and I had to check it out (which hardly ever happens to me). It looks like a better quality handbag than JC's recent offerings.  It has feet, andvthe leather looks nice with minimal hardware, which I love.
Not a fan of Hughes or Claremont bags either.

      Delete
    2. Thanks for the reply JV . The brass clasp/at the top openings of the Claremont and hughes is what I did not like. I think it dates the bags. It also will probably scratch up over time.
I like the sesame colour in the Teddie and the henna in the Sophie.
It seems like no bags have really sold out since the celine look alike one in Navy a few years back. They are making it to sale all fairly quick...someone' s job is most likely getting cut if the handbags do no sell.

    3. The celine look alike bag was the Tillery. Still dream about that one!

  19. My jc bills for oct/nov/dec were shockingly low but I've already made up for that in Jan with this 40% promo. Martina metallic wedges (silver and blush), Darby patent loafers (black and taupe), tapestry print top and dress, cashmere tee dresses, scarves and sweatshirts, liberty shirts, and a pebbled tartine. Yeesh. Amazing prices though, and all items that I know will fit and love. I really do wish, tho, that I had more willpower.

  20. This is somewhat OT but my new Pixie pants arrived and I love them but the hook on the back is a huge pain to do. Anyone have a trick for this? I was thinking about hooking and then pulling them on but I was afraid to damage it. Thoughts???

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. For what it is worth, I have the same problem with the factory version pant. And yes I hook them and then pull them up.
The other problem that I have with the hook is that is pokes me when I drive. It is really uncomfortable but it does not seem to happen other than when I am in the car.

      Delete
    2. Thanks for your feedback, I'll give it a try and see what happens. I also had wondered about the comfort of the zipper, maybe I'll tuck in a shirt...

      Delete
    3. I just leave it unhooked. It doesn't unzip on me.

The zipper isn't the most comfortable, but what really annoyed me was the tag. I had to cut that out.

    2. Oops, sorry I missed this yesterday. Yes, I reviewed the Viv flannel jeweled flats here. (Scroll down a bit) I love them and think they're beautiful. So I can't talk you out of those! As for the cashmere sweater, there were a few hanging out on my sale rack for many weeks and they looked pretty ragged and pilled up. I think the weave might make for less longevity. So I vote shoes, no sweater! ;) HTH!

I.e. statement stone fringe (on Ema) was cut to $89.99. It's $69.99 in-store. Floating pearl necklace (review) was cut to $34.99 online and is $24.99 in-store.

  33. I have a question for you all. Are the factory offerings the same design as retail but just lower quality fabrics or are the offerings sometimes the leftovers from retail? For example the Factory Stretch Classic Button-Down Stretch Shirt in Colorblock, is that a leftover from last year of unsold stock? Just wondering. Thanks, Sara

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi Sara. The factory gear is usually the same design, sometimes improved and yes, lower quality fabric. I.e. swapping poly instead of cotton. All of the online items have been made for factory. Except a pair of patent wedges that JCAs were receiving in the burgundy/wine color. It's believed that they were retail Martinas. Recently, JCAs have seen retail items in the factory store, but I would be surprised if they're selling them online at this point. I would expect what's online to be made for factory. Of course that can change at any moment. HTH

    2. Thanks Gigi! Yes that helps!

    3. I did visit a factory store today. I wanted try on the charley to decide between that and retail tippi for quality and size. I did see some retail items, bird print shirt, black toothpicks, even tippi in neon rose. Left empty handed, I know many JCAs like and have great luck at factory, I never like or find anything.

  37. Hi Sunny,

I'm not sure what keeps happening to your comments either :)

I agree about the return shipping from Canada being a hinderance (especially with the high costs of Canada Post). It may only help for a little while longer, but I believe the HELLOWORLD code still is in effect till the end of January. 25% off orders for Canada (bringing the prices in line with US retail), plus free shipping and returns (free returns for Canadians means you ship back at your own expense, then submit the receipt to JC for reimbursement). Hope this helps (if you not you, then maybe someone :)...!)

    2. It wasn't in an email, but rather there was a promo blurb in one of those always dated lookbooks they slip into your shopping bag in store. I've been getting the same one since early fall (maybe October?)...and sometimes it has the code printed on the inside...sometimes it doesn't. It's very odd. But I do remember that it's good until Jan 31 :)
