J.Crew Email: Up to 50% Off Final Sale Items {in stores & online}

J.Crew is reminding customers that they are still running 40% off Final Sale (& 50% off select items) with promo code HAPPYSALE. (Probably 50% off in stores!) This offer expires February 4, 2014.

If you woke up early this morning, you would have noticed the c-r-a-z-y amount of items on sale over at their Sale (click here to shop online) section! There are 1500+ for Women and 660+ for Men. Lots of popbacks that I could have sworn were sold out for months, showed up.

J.Crew is going to have to keep this sale around longer that February 4th to clear out this merchandise. Seriously.

Will you be taking advantage of this offer? If so, please share! :)

  2. Anyone try the Dean Midshaft Boot? Says online only but final sale. Seriously, why does Jcrew do that... :( Any thoughts on sizing, fit, comfort? thank you!

    1. Yes, I have in Chester Brown and love them. Much easier to put on than the Parker ankle( I think because they are taller and have more to grab on to)--there is no zipper. I found them TTS

  3. I keep thinking I'm done with final sale items, but . . . there were 40+ jewelry pieces this morning, including the Tortoise and Turquoise Statement Necklace, which I thought was gone forever! Now it is mine! Thinking positive thoughts to ward off the "Wish We Had Enough" e-mails . . .

    1. so jealous! I've been checking online for two hours now and have only seen the number hovering at 15 or fewer items. bummer.

    2. You have to check before 6am EST to see the full upload!.... so early....

    3. I check the J.Crew site on my phone when I wake up . . . okay, never thought I would use _that_ sentence. Pathetic? Ridiculous? Suffering from insomnia? Someone needs to pull all these blog posts together into a manual . . .

    4. LOL I do the same! It's good to know I am not alone :)

  4. No, I don't buy final sale items ever.

  5. Two pieces of jewelry that I have been searching for showed up last week and were delivered yesterday. Did the happy dance that they (a) actually shipped and (b) were not damaged in any way. However, one of my final sale tops was defective. I've never had any problem returning defective (or used - ick!) final sale items. I'll be taking the top back to the store over the weekend if we don't get another ton of snow . . .

  6. It would be fun to do a weekly thread dedicated to long lost popbacks. I'm always curious as to what items people see or score. Its always so funny when there's something from seasons and seasons ago and the styling and colors are so different from the stuff now. I always check when I wake up early, but I rarely wake up early *just* to check.

    1. Oh, I'm always curious too!
Sometimes I wonder if JC "salts" the Sale section for the express purpose of luring in the hunters.

    2. @wellfedfred... you said just what I was thinking! Sometimes I wonder if they hold a group of items for when things get slow and then post them all at once to stir interest (and sales)! Intermittent reinforcement is quite effective- and this morning I did catch a few things that I thought I would never see for sale again! In my size, no less.

  7. @JenniferD, it is a daily routine for me...get up, check th J.Crew website...see what random items have popped up that I need to have...you're not alone!! It's the Crewlade in full effect...

on another note, does anyone know if the 50% items are really final sale? I ordered the Medallion print Minnies the other day and they popped up in my size in the tall version which I would actually prefer...my order doesn't indicate that the pair I ordered (at 50% off) were final sale but the last time that happened to me when I returned something the SA informed me it was indeed final sale (even though nothing on my receipt stated as such.) any insight? TIA!

    1. I am now starting to get FS items with a final sale indicator on the invoice and the item package sticker. In calling CS, I do get a consistent message that if an item ends in ".99" it is considered a final sale item, even if it doesn't show up as such on your e-mail order summary. So I'm going with that, even though a nice SA may return it anyway (it seems to be up to their discretion). Interestingly, the Turquoise Statement Necklace _did not_ have an FS indicator on my e-mail order summary. But I am not returning it! It is mine . . .Mine . . . MINE! All MINE! Oh, sorry, that was my inner 2-year old speaking :-)

    2. JenniferD, thanks for the insight...I like to cash in my SA favors sparingly...but yes, my invoices have also shown they are not FS...sigh. hoping your necklace ships!!

    3. @shopmurphy . . . I got an e-mail that my necklace did ship. I had some other items in the order and they all shipped together, so it looks like it is coming from the warehouse. I ordered the Geometric Floral Necklace on FS a month ago and it came with a broken link that was able to easily fix with a pair of needle-nose pliers. We'll see what the turquoise necklace looks like!

  8. Yay! My double cloth motorcycle jacket arrived and it fits. For anyones reference, I'm normally a size 0 or petite 0 petite 2 in coats and this fit in the size 2 perfectly. early morning stalking paid off- i got it in the pretty pink color too!

  9. Has anyone seen irl or purchased the Gambrell satchel? I am boring and always go for neutral colors in expensive items like coats and purses but the "hedgerow" color is calling my name and it qualifies for the 50% off. Just looking for something different but still versatile and wondering what the quality/size is like.

    1. My friend just got this purse in the raw steel color (which I love). I thought the quality looked great. Her only gripe was that the longer strap is not really long enough to be a cross body on her (although she still did it that way but it looked goofy). She has a toddler and could still get some of his things in the purse, although for me it would be too small for all of my work and kid stuff.

  10. OT, but does anyone have any advice on Lemlem sizing? How should I interpret a medium? I'm hoping to have space in the arms (I'm usually a 10-12 in button downs) Any insight would be appreciated. TIA!

    1. I want to know too! I've been eye-ing those t shirts for ages.

    2. In stores they've always looked huge, but i looked at the Lem Lem site and here is the breakdown: small 0-4, medium 6-8, large 8-10, but I don't know how baggy it's intended to be.

  11. I keep finding SOMETHING….

    * perfect fit tanks with built in bras: these are great, and a lot easier to wash than real bras.

    * Kiki calf hair ballet flats for $75 -- cannot beat that. I have several Kikis and all have been TTS so I am confident these will fit.

    * Viv metallic flats -- finally caught these! Have several Vivs and I always size up by 1/2 a size.

    * Lulu frost compass rose necklace, for $66 -- rec'd yesterday and it is much prettier than I thought it would be, although I must admit that I generally like the non-crazy Lulu Frost pieces.

    * Gem stack necklace for $42 -- happy pretty colors. Love.

and the catch of the season:

    * Collection watercolor floral dress for $90! I think this was close to $400 regular price. It's a gorgeous fabric. I think I remember some unhappy reviews about being too tent like, but having had 3 children in quick succession leave me happy to hide my waistline. I did get the smaller of my 2 collection sizes, and it fits perfectly for hot summer nights.

  13. For some reason, many things online that are marked down + 40-50% off online are still FP at my store. So annoying to have to check items every time. This has been a trend since I've moved here...and I'm hoping I not at a store that just doesn't need to mark items down that often. Crazy how online pricing is actually lower for me!! I'm in Carmel.

    2. Caroline-I've had that happen too and yes at the Carmel store. Sometimes I show them the inline price on the iPhone and they honor it.

  14. I am looking at the School Boy Blazer in navy. Does anyone have any thoughts on how it fits in comparison to the Classic Schoolboy Blazer? The website says it is longer and slimmer but measurements are so similar. Also, is the current price a "good deal" for this blazer? Thank you much for your input

    1. Hi bella - Fast Food & Fast Fashion did a side-by-side comparison of the two schoolboys here. HTH!

    2. Thanks. They look the same!

    3. bella - I took 6P in the classic schoolboy. I took 8P in the new schoolboy. There were a good number of JCAs who went up a size in the 'new' schoolboy. I have some measurements for both in this post.

The difference between 6P is so small between the classic and new schoolboys. However, I couldn't fit the new 6P. I've tried it on 2 different occasions and the 8P is better in the 'new.' I'd say if you take 2 different sizes in J Crew, size up one. If you always take the same numeric size, get that. HTH

  15. Slightly OT, but these are still available on sale, so maybe others would be interested. Has anyone purchased the Goldsign Jenny jean in debut/dark wash? I received my pair today and they fit wonderfully. However, I noticed that if you unroll the cuff (it came cuffed, like the last model shot), the denim is frayed in a few places, with a small hole too. Is this normal? I just want to make sure I didn't receive a defective pair. When it's cuffed, it's not noticeable. But I have never paid so much for jeans (or clothing in general), so I want to check with people who've purchased before. Thanks!!

    1. Oh, actually if you look at the thumbnail (while scrolling through sale items), the jean is uncuffed and you can see the distressed area along the crease. Sigh. I'd rather not have holes in $$$ jeans.

    3. Eeek! Thanks for the heads up! Mine should be arriving tomorrow and, as you said, for the price, I would rather not have holes in my jeans! I am reassured by your note on the fit though. I could live with, and maybe even like a little distressing- depending on my frame of mind with the fit!

    4. Hope your pair fits well and isn't too distressed :)

  16. The Clara dress is on sale for $178 and the 40% off works. However, there is no mention of it being FS. Is this a trick or is it really returnable? $106 is a lot to spend if it may not fit, but I'd have to make a special trip to try it on.

    1. Hi Margaret - it's not FS. It's a promo price (ending in $.00) so it's returnable. However, because it's a promo price it may go back to FP any time.

    2. Thanks! These pricing games drive me nuts. Guess I will be buying it tonight.

  17. So I ordered the Lulu Frost Harvest Moon necklace on final sale, and it arrived today - sadly broken; the middle piece had snapped right off the backing. Has anyone had luck returning broken final sale jewelry pieces? I can't imagine going into my local store where I normally shop and having them turn me away, but I was just wondering if had anyone had a similar experience and had any tips about what to do if the SA gives me a difficult time. Thanks!

    1. If the item is defective, e-mail to the 24-7 email address or to customer service with photos, no matter if it was final sale or not.

    2. thanks for that head's up. I'll do that and see what happens. hopefully they can just send me a new one, since it's still in stock online.

  18. Any item that is defective will be taken back without any problems in my experience.

  19. I think I'm done with this final sale. It was freezing so I bought two final sale sweaters on a whim last week. But then, I'm still eye-ing a couple of things and hoping they would get marked down further.

I am strangely attracted to The Elder Statesman cashmere tanks 03484 (who wears cashmere tshirts/tanks anyway?!) But the price ($129 before 40% off) is still a little steep for me to justify.

lace-trim swiss-dot top in natural. 06687. I love the vertical stripes on this top. but the regular is kinda long on the body yet the petite's sleeves might be too short.

lemlem Teddy smock shirt 31243. This looks so youthful so it suits me. But idk about the sizing b/c I am xs but I've only seen these in small!

Lulu Frost harvest moon necklace A0739. still kinda expensive...

But I love a lot of not FS items in this sale! Like the lightweight merino vneck, silk cami (21421), eaton boy trouser in italian stretch wool, and most recently, the piped wool dress in super 120s!! I'm so excited about this dress I might just order it soon. It looks wonderful in the photos and it's online only so I really want to try it on. It would be great for school interviews for me. And at 178 sans 40% off? It's a great price for a professional piece.

  21. ZIP-POCKET DRESS Item 03344

Any advice on fit? I'm normally a 4 in dresses but I have a thick waist and narrow hips (ruler shaped) so I'm wondering if I should size down to a 2 since the dress is more of a shift dress.

  23. I bought the Sabrina coat and while I love the fabric and the fit, my husband's not a big fan of the neon papaya. I'm a bit undecided. Other than eBay, what chances do I have to get another color? Cry at the B/M store?

  26. I bit today (finally). Got the reminder email. Been wanting the wool bomber sweater jacket and it popped back up today in my usual size (XS) (after the site said it was sold out). Popped back up in a lot of sizes today actually. But not buying anything for a while now.
