JCA "Help Style Me!" Weekly Post

This is the weekly "Help Style Me!" post, where we can share items we are having trouble putting outfits together with. Elaine (in this post) says it best, "You know, that thing you bought because you love it and you keep pulling it out and then putting it away without wearing it?"

Please share your J.Crew item (either that you own or are thinking about getting) that you would love help creating an outfit with.

Also, please help out by offering your styling advice. Feel free to include links to your blog (where you incorporated that piece) or to Polyvore (where you showcased an outfit with that piece). Thanks in advance! :)

    1. lady day coat has functional pockets, that's the major difference IMO. I have both and prefer lady day coat

    2. I have to size up in the lady day coat versus the metro but that may be because of where the band hits me. Pretty coat though.

    3. I have both and agree with rcbshops that the lady day coat is slimmer in the torso. It also has more of a defined waist and the band as rcb mentioned. I didn't size up but find that I can only wear a thin sweater under my lady day but can layer more under my metro coat.

  5. If you're looking for some 80's styling inspiration, I unearthed a 1989 Teen magazine at my parents' yesterday, and have shared some choice sections on my blog today. I especially loved the DIY embellished sweatshirt and denim that I'm sure inspired J.Crew! Dying.

    1. This is so great. I love stuff like this! I used to have milk crates full of old magazines, but my parents threw them away years ago. I wish I still had them. Sassy and Teen and Seventeen from the 1980s and early 1990s. There was so much good stuff in there. I would love to go back and look at them.

  6. OT. But there was some discussions about J Crew not putting Final Sale on invoices, receipts. I noticed last night I made a purchase in store and it says.. '50% off Final Sale'. I never had that when it was 40% off either on-line or in store. As far as I am concerned if I make a purchase and it does not say Final Sale on my receipt, it is not Final Sale.

    1. Amahendra - TTS on the black tweed jacket. It's nice. When I tried it on, I felt the longer neckline would make it a little more difficult to style. Notice the model has her chambray top unbuttoned to meet the buttons on the jacket. It might work to have a chambray top unbuttoned 4 buttons, but with another top under that. Will try to get review up soon.

    2. Thanks Gigi! Would you take the same size as your school boy blazer? I was thinking of doing a charge send if I didnt have time to run out today.

    3. I had posted yesterday that this jacket is on sale at my store in Canada ($150 plus 50% off). It fits small, I had to size up 1 size from my schoolboy size. The stylist that helped me said everyone was finding that it fits small also... HTH!
