J.Crew Spotted in Lucky Magazine {pretty dress!}

A big "thanks!" to Desert Flower & Lisa (of the lovely "Respect The Shoes" blog), who not only let us know about a J.Crew item being spotted in the recent issue of Lucky Magazine, but also scanned the image for us to view! (Click on the image to see it larger.)

The item featured is the Raj Strip Dress ($395.00). The magazine states that it is "a cute cocktail-perfect number, made seductive—and sophisticated— by a short hemline and an interesting mix of colors". If the dress looks a bit familiar, it's because we saw it back in November (refer to the "More Sneak Peeks for J.Crew's 2010 Collection" post).

I really love the dress— from the style to the stripes to the pockets!— it is just fantastic. But the length seems a bit too short for me. (It might just be the angles of the photos, but doesn't it appear almost too short in the Lucky picture?) And that price tag... my wallet says ouch! ;)

What are your thoughts on the dress featured in the magazine? Do you like the fabric & style of the dress? :)

  2. I love the dress. It reminds me of all the Kate Spade dresses I have been loving lately. Looks like a really beautiful silk, so that could account for the price a little. However, it is unwearably short. So, if I want a striped silk dress, it will be the Kate Spade Jillian

  4. I really like the dress, but the price is a definite deterrent. It also looks shorter in the Lucky Mag pic than it does in the Collection preview pic, so I'm curious to see just what the true length is.

  5. Wow, what a pricey dress! I spent this much on my wedding dress 16 years ago!

  6. Love it! It's on the shorter side, but I wouldn't say that makes it unwearable; I'd just wear it with flats or sandals instead of heels. It is a little pricey, but I'm always hopeful for a sale!

  9. I do like the style, but it's overpriced and unwearably short, at least for my lifestyle.

  11. That was one of the pieces I liked initially from the previews but at $395...yikes.

  12. I would consider it if it were just a skirt and were around $75. I think the stripes on the bodice are too busy and the price is way to high for a dress whose short skirt limits its wearability.

  13. I love it! Any word on when it will be available?

  14. I agree with everyone - too short and too expensive. I do like it though, just not for me.

  15. I think the fabric looks really great, but I guess at that price it had better be good! I like that it's a departure from strapless and tissue thin jersey. Hope they do more like it. It looks like it might be ok on us gals with fuller busts...(one can hope)

  16. Love it! If anyone knows when is it going to hit the stores please let us know. I would be ok with it if it hit me at the same spot as in Collection picture. And maybe there is an inch there in the hemline?
    The fit seems to be the similar to honey clover dress which I have and love.
