J.Crew sent an email letting us know about their final sale (click here), and more importantly their latest promotion. ;)
J.Crew is offering free shipping on orders of $1o0+ with promo code FREESHIP09. This offer expires 1/11/08.
"Thanks!" to Anon at 11:51 AM (in this post) who let us know that the code for free shipping on orders of $150+ is 09FREESHIP. This offer also expires 1/11/08.
As I mentioned in another post, I am holding off from any more purchases for awhile. I was able to get a lot of wonderful items in the past two months, and it *should* (but who knows!) hold me over for awhile. ;)
What are your thoughts on the current offer? Will you shop online (to take advantage of this promotion and new mark downs) or shop in-stores (to take advantage of the additional 30% off)?
Boo hoo! I needed that dress right away, but if I had only waited I would have saved myself $25! But, what can I say.... I needed the dress.
ReplyDeleteAnon at 9:02AM: Why don't you call customer service and explain that you would like to apply a code to an order from this morning? They will most likely honor the request. It's worth a try. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, I will try that! I'll let you know if they let me or not
ReplyDeleteJust thought I'd put it out there that the site added a bunch of past items to final sale and marked down some others that were already there. I was able to get the Owen Hobo that I missed the first, second and third times around. Also the Madeline dress was there in a number of sizes for $149.99, and the Kate was in camel for $39.99 in select sizes.
ReplyDeletewell it's not a % off, but better then nothing. There are a lot of little items that I want.
ReplyDeleteOT: Can anyone give me tips on how to keep my winter white coat clean looking. I lint roll it frequently and dry clean it. But am wondering about spot cleaning etc.
AWESOME MARKDOWNS!!!! Heirloom Henley finally on sale, some cashmere turtlenecks 79.99, cashmere argyle cardigan 59.99, Maggie 89.99, and lots more stuff finally getting marked down!
ReplyDeleteSomeone had been posting a need for the Aran knee highs in grey and black, all colors are back on the site.
ReplyDeleteWhenever I see free shipping, I can't help but dream about a percentage off! I bit the bullet today though when the Sybil coat from last year showed up in my size. It wasn't black like I REALLY wanted, but it was the royal violet which I really liked as well. If only there had been a percentage off... :)
ReplyDeleteNice code!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28528678/
ReplyDeleteI found this article on MSNBC. It basically talks about shoppers expecting to get lower prices for merchandise, similar to the sales found around Christmas. J Crew was mentioned in the first part of the article.
Hi Alexis,
ReplyDeleteI just noticed an article in my paper about how retailers are struggling with post christmas sales. Basically saying that we as consumers are now so used to seeing up to 70% off that it is pretty hard to think 20 or 30% off is a deal. It mentioned that J Crew was already discounting some new spring items up to 40%.
It makes me think about how much stuff is really worth. I got the Harriet coat for 70$ after the discount. You really see how much items are marked up and what kind of profit all retailers make on clothing when the original price was over 300$.
interesting.... my email is for free shipping on over 150
ReplyDeletejbird & joangee: I will post that MSNBC article (about retailers like J.Crew discounting after the holidays) for a post tomorrow- it would make for a great conversation. I think it is really interesting that shoppers' reset button for retail items have stayed on deep discount. Thanks for letting me know about it! :)
ReplyDeleteI might buy the new cady sydney dress. but I can't decide what color! bf likes fresh mint, i like clover, light pewter, or light chartreuse. my only concern with the fresh mint is that online it looks more blue, in the catalog, it looks more like sea green. Anyone seen it in person? I would prefer it if it actually is more on the greener side.
ReplyDeletealso, are the long dream vneck cardigan really slouchy? I usually wear an xs, but only s is available in the color I want. A small would probably be ok for me with a button down or long sleeve tee underneath as long as the fit isn't too huge.
I broke down and order the double serge skirt in balck and ochre. I already had the double serge in ochre and since I paid more and it still has the tags on it I plan on returning it. I bought it during HOHOHO so I don't beleive it is final sale. I don't think I have my reciept anymore:(. Has anyone been able to print off the invoice from online and return an item? The other day I was at my B&M and I tried to return something but I forgot the reciept. I aksed if they could look up my account since I have a JC credit card and they told me no.
ReplyDeleteAlexis- Thanks for posting the article! I find myself looking for better and better bargains. As I mentioned in other posts, I have a number of items in my cart that haven't moved in weeks. I really have no incentive to purchase right now. The fact that the items are still there tells me that they 1. aren't high demand items and 2. j crew isn't moving their merchandise. I am thankful that my job is secure and I am not suffering like some other folks, but for now, I can wait to buy things!
ReplyDeleteomg i cannot believe the boucle scarf coat is down to 99.99$. i'd get it while its available, ladies, since i paid almost twice as much! =(
ReplyDeleteHi there-
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to share this link with my fellow aficionados and aficionadas!
http://littleredbook-thatshaute.blogspot.com/2008/12/save-date-nyc-jcrews-sample-sale.html
omg, so many good deals, so many new items, such a low free shipping minimum-- and I'm stuck at work!!!!! Argh! Oh well, were it not for this job, I wouldn't be able to buy any jcrew. ;) I just hope the site doesn't start crashing when I go home tonight and can start ordering!
ReplyDeleteNoooooo! I just challenged myself to not buy anything for the next 30days. I can't even look at the new markdowns. I hope you guys get some great deals.
ReplyDeleteHere is another link regarding the sample sale:
ReplyDeletehttp://2.bp.blogspot.com/_3E0IIOjAHPs/SVA8sDKTGfI/AAAAAAAACQc/9Oo_fNhM_nQ/s1600-h/SampleSaleUpdate.JPG
Hi Hillary! In case you are interested, I posted about the sample sale a few times (here and here). It is also mentioned on the right hand side on the main page under current offers and promotions. :)
ReplyDeleteyou know the more I think about it - the more I realize I prefer a free ship code to the % off. There is something about seeing that $18.50 (or more) ship fee tacked on to my order that almost always keeps me from ordering no matter how good the sale price. Maybe I'm just weird.
ReplyDeleteSorry, Alexis!
ReplyDeleteI got so excited about the links my friend emailed me that I was just hot to share them with y'all.
I love this blog and I love how helpful everyone is!
Happy New Year.
There is lots of items re-stocked!
ReplyDeletethe Favorite-fit tall herringbone university pant was just restocked and i got a size 4 in black for 29.99!!!
It also looks as if the free shipping is to Canada as well! YIPPEE!
Does anyone own or has tried on the feather chiffon dress? I have been eyeing this dress all season and now its marked down to $119! I want to buy it in cream as my birthday dress and based on the measurements I know I would take at size 12. The only hang up for me is the low back...do you think I can wear a bra with this dress? I'm a 36 DD and HAVE to wear a bra!
ReplyDeleteWhat about Maggie being $90?!
ReplyDeleteOK - so I bit the bullet and ordered the Dotted Victoria ruffle cami in 4P, and the Chiffon-florette cardigan in Heather Acorn, S. I'm not sure if I'm going to love the Victoria, but I love the print and decided to take a chance on it.... especially since practically everyone here seems to love it!
ReplyDeleteI so wanted to try Maggie but they sold out of it in my size for $89. I guess I could stalk the website for a few days and see if one pops up. When is the best time to log on to check?
ReplyDeleteHey Bug Pin
ReplyDeleteI ordered two bug pins. They're on sale for $19.99 - the yellow and the turquoise.
All the funny stuff everyone has written about them makes me laugh, so I thought I'd wear them around town.
JBird: I totally am with you about not having too much incentive to purchase (I already have too much stuff). ;) I will be sure to have that post ready for tomorrow. Thanks again for sharing! :)
ReplyDeleteDani_California: I think prefer a free shipping code too. I find shipping costs almost always are more than the amount save with a 20% off code (for my orders anyways). :)
Bug Pin: I noticed the Maggie dropped in price too- I was definitely tempted! :)
I finally picked up the trois rosette tank - $14.99 and a couple of pairs of the university pant marked to 29.99.
ReplyDeleteAlways in need of cute work attire and I hate spending a lot on 'work' clothes. I love it when I can get items that pull 'double duty'!
^Ha-that's too funny.
ReplyDeleteI noticed that after that post they were all on sale;)
Can't wait to hear about friends/co-workers reaction. They may be too afraid to say anything! Or maybe say, "cute pin" and walk off snickering and thinking is she for real? Or maybe if a close friend they will inquire,"Are you for real"?! LOL!
Report back!
Actually--i think J Crew should have sent everyone on this blog a bug pin for club identity purposes:)
Hillary: No need to apologize. Thank you for looking out for the blog- that is really nice of you! :)
ReplyDeleteI checked out the current Final Sale items and I want to order the Aubrey herringbone jacket, Boucle tweed short scarf coat, and Luxe flannel three-button jacket. Does anyone have these items or seen them in person? If so, what your opinion? TIA
ReplyDeleteAnon @ 10:22... I've printed out the ship confirmation email and returned an item via mail but was not given a credit to my credit card like I asked. Instead I got a gift card / merch credit.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone tried/purchased the taffetta silk skirt. It's priced at $19.99 and they have some really pretty colors. Not sure if I should pull the trigger. Any advice on how it fits or looks?
ReplyDeleteanon at 10:43, I found the sleeves on the boucle scarf coat to be kind of short.
ReplyDeleteAlexis,
ReplyDeleteI am always the last one to get J Crews emails. I just received the free shipping email but it says on orders of $150 or more. This is where J Crew drives me crazy with their inconsistency. Is it $100 or $150 and is the former only for certain customers?
And thanks for such a great and fun blog. You are the best.
The French Silk Twill Vionette tank dress is marked down to 69.99. I just got one in grey, and it's beautiful! The dress is beautifully made, no puckery stitching like in some pieces, and the silk is weighty with a lovely drape. I got a size 2, (I'm 35.5, 26.5, 35), and it fit perfectly. I'm 5'3, so it was a bit longer than on the model (!). I'm contemplating getting the green one!
ReplyDeleteTried on the Lea cardigan in the store, and it was gorgeous as well.
Problem is, if you take the free shipping deal, they won't let you also use your teacher discount as well. At $14.50 for shipping on $100, it's a wash!
Nojcrewinjapen-
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up on merch credit/ gift card. I was hoping they would just refund the amount back on to the JC card but I guess if they give me a merchandise credit it will be okay. I am sure I will find something to spend it on....
I don't see the "FREESHIP09" promotion when I log onto the site and I did not get an email about it. Anyone else?
ReplyDeleteThe chiffon pleated cardigan which was a ridiculous $168 is now 99.99. Might be worth it if I call from red phone to have them match store 30% off. Kind of cute--does anyone have it?
ReplyDeleteAnon 10:51-
ReplyDeleteI didn't get an email or see it on the website either. I only found out about it this morning when I logged on to the blog. I'm sooo glad that Alexis and other JCAs are kind enough to inform us about the sales/ promos. I will probably get an email from J Crew tomorrow in my yahoo inbox about the free shipping!
I used the FREESHIP09 code on the Owen hobo bag and my total was $149.99. It worked for me and I saved $14.50 on shipping... Totally worth it.
ReplyDeleteI'm kind of done with Winter stuff now, especially after seeing all the fresh and pretty colors of Spring items. As some of you have read, this article in yahoo http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090107/
ReplyDeleteap_on_bi_ge/discount_holiday_hangover, J Crew is said to be lowering the prices of their Spring stuff. Is that right? Has anybody been in the stores lately? Because I haven't seen that on the website.
Honest, personal opinion on pleated cardi is that it is really light weight (see through)and i just don't get those pleats. Would definitely want to see IRL and try on before Final sale. Maybe someone can offer advice that owns it??
ReplyDeleteDid you want me to talk you out of it??
Anon at 10:43:
ReplyDeleteI purchased the Aubrey herringbone jacket and immediately returned it. The shoulder seaming in done so that it makes a line with the seam across the bust. It makes the jacket hang funny and look awkward. I was really disappointed!
I made a huge order this morning to hopefully get some things that were back in stock. I finally got my Penelope peeptoes in Charcoal! Other items: two of the taffeta a-line skirts, Astrid Boucle, Melanie Crewneck, tissue turtleneck, double serge pencil, metallic fleck pencil, university pants, and much more! I pray that everything arrives!!!
Anon at 10:51 AM: I think J.Crew might be going back to its more traditional (pre-holidays) "email the free shipping promotion", instead of posting it on their website. You may be getting an email in the next day or so.
ReplyDeleteAlso, J.Crew likes to stack the promotions when it comes to free shipping. As witnessed on this blog, J.Crew sends out promotions (which have slight variations on the code text) for free shipping on orders of $100+, $150+, and $175+.
I never understood J.Crew's marketing when it comes to emails and who gets bucketed into those different min requirements. It's still a mystery to me. ;)
RTM: Thanks for the article!
Regarding emails--I cannot even mention the ridiculous amount of $ spent at JC (it's been the only place I have shopped the last 6 months-thank god) and I don't receive ANY promo emails anymore. They suddenly just stopped-for no reason. The only way I know anything is here or if perhaps I logged on to their site. I find that pretty in sane to miss out on someone so insane.
ReplyDeleteOK, when I click on the cashmere heirloom henley, none of the colors are actually marked down--despite the fact that it appears in sale section and says selected colors $119.99. Can anyone see any marked down colors?
ReplyDeleteI fell culprit to get the Dream Turtleneck sweater in snow/M and Hammered silk tank in 2/peacock+ivory - all items I've been stalking through mulitple WFI requests. I agree that I want to see some additional % off especially b/c this is supposed to be final sale. Maybe in another week or so once this code runs its course? Honestly, I'm fearful this 'final sale' business will last for the next month or two. Argh!
ReplyDeleteAlso, OT, but is anyone else annoyed by the CS not telling you your subtotal/total and sneaking the shipping in? I placed two orders back to back and forgot to check that they applied the promo on the first one. I asked the CS why they only told me the total and did not say the subtotal/shipping charge and she said they only have to say the total. I think this is sneaky and bad taste business.
I decided after I placed my order that it was worth it to get a few of the cords that are on sale for $19.99 and $29.99.... so, I called CS, and although they couldn't apply it to my earlier order (where I had enough for FS), they did give me FS as a courtesy on this order, even though the total was only $79.97. I really appreciate how nice and helpful the CS rep was!
ReplyDeleteCass - yes, but you have to go through the sale section there is a white/snow and a yellow color.
ReplyDeleteRTM-Wow-thanks for the article! It is exactly the dismal state that I had perceived. Recovery is going to be long and hard. Even those of us that did snag up all the deals before Christmas are cutting back or not spending at all now--making things even worse out there. Scary.
ReplyDeleteAfter I bought the Heloise Houndstooth coat yesterday and told my daughter that it was my last purchase until my birthday in April and she laughed! Well today I could not resist when the seregeti mid-heels popped up in my size! The nice lady gave my the free shipping and my student discount. I've been watching for these for so long. My daughter knows me well...
ReplyDeleteWhitney:
ReplyDeleteGreat purchases! I got the hammered silk tank at my store in yellow and i looooove it. I also have the dream turtleneck in light spearmint and looooove that too! I stalk the website as well and was very happy to see markdowns! I wish there was an additional % too for fs but im guessing once they do that promo their inventory will be next to nothing and your sizes will be all gone..
So I woke up really early this morning and took full advantage of the new markdowns - WITHOUT checking my email first. Imagine my dismay when I saw that there was a free shipping code that I missed in my inbox! But I just called customer service, and they were able to credit my order back for the shipping cost. Yeah!
ReplyDeleteWent ahead and placed an order yesterday for the Tailored Wool Carrie Dress b/c it popped up again. Its no longer on the site so I don't feel too bad about missing the free shipping. Now hopefully it won't be canceled!
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering if I use the red phone in the store to order a sale item, do I still get the store's 30% off? And does anyone know if I can use the educator discount on the red phone?
ReplyDeletejoangee - i got the email for free shipping on $150 too..
ReplyDeleteDarn you, J.Crew! I wasn't going to buy anything today. Why'd you have to go and restock!?
ReplyDeleteJust purchased the Merino Melanie button-cuff cardigan (small, heather grey), Cashmere pullover hoodie (small, snow and dark slate), Perfect-fit tank (small, chocolate), Solid Kelly shirt (small, black) and the Lulu leather peep toes in Dark Cloud (size 9).
I was this close to getting the small Odile bag...but I already have the small Oslo. *sigh*
**I'd gotten the Lulu heels earlier in the season in 9.5 but ended up returning them - they seemed to run a little big...hopefully the 9 will fit. I just MUST have them in Dark Cloud to match my Jamie bag. ("must" is of course an exaggeration, but I've been stalking them for days...)
Now bug pins are $19.99:)
ReplyDeleteAnon 10:50am - my French Silk Twill Vionette tank dress (silver, size 4) is supposed to arrive today (I'd been waitlisted). I hope I can find a reason to keep it - it looked so pretty in the picture, but I have little occasion to be so sparkly. :)
ReplyDelete...and the site is down
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone have the Tissue étincelle tee item #11056
ReplyDeletehttp://www.jcrew.com/browse/single_product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441772047&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302023905&bmUID=1231346036172
Any thoughts about it before I buy it? Its cute but how the fit? TTS?
TIA!
Stacie:
ReplyDeleteI love My Carrie Dress! I'm wearing it right now actually! I got mixed reviews both on here and other sites, but to me it's the perfect throw on and go dress for work.
I often wear a collard shirt under neath with the collar of the dress turned in. So it just looks like a sweater dress.
Hope you enjoy your Carrie!
I just got the email-
ReplyDeletesame code but mine says free shipping over 150.00-
Very Strange indeed!!
I had just ordered the portland cardigan
in champagne thanks to Shannon's review on j.crew reviews, but I might've spent $100 had I seen the code.
Has anyone else seen the email stating the minimum is $150.00?
I just ordered the Cashmere femme sweater black 39.99, Merino Lili ruffle-chiffon cardigan champagne, 39.99 and Shimmery python pencil skirt $69.99. New markdowns and free shipping. Yay!
ReplyDeleteRatsOnParade: felt exactly the same way about the cloud grey Lulus. HAD to have them to match the purse. :)
Sorry-it's me again-my code is 09FREESHIP-so it's not the same code-
ReplyDeleteI guess they like other customers better than me :(
Nothing I wanted has gone down in price.
ReplyDeleteGlad I got my Boucle Scarf coat when I did though as my size is sold out and only 3 sizes left....
I don't like final sale are RARELY buy anything from it b/c I don't have a store and can't try things on first.
has anyone tried the cotton-lawn silk cherie cami? it's on promo now, looks pretty!
ReplyDeleteThe email I got was also for free shipping on $150+ - but I placed a $140 order using the shipping code Alexis posted for free shipping on $100+ and had no issues. I've noticed that in the past, I always get emails with the "second best" offer - so I just make sure to check here for the best codes before I order anything :)
ReplyDeleteThe friggin site is down again! No is not worth buying FS when the site is always crashing!
ReplyDeleteI finally caved an ordered the cashmere femme sweater in medium and black. I tried this on in the store when it first came out and I just loved it. I don't live close to a b&m store so I was never able to get one for extra % off. When the website had the last %off it was OOS, so I was happy to see it back in stock today, in my size, in a color I liked. Figured it was meant for me to order. As the morning was going along, the # in inventory was dwindling so it looks like a lot of people are scooping this one up.
ReplyDeleteKristen - I ordered that same sweater in black/M....was so excited to get one for $40! Hope they actually have them in stock and we eventually get them :-)
ReplyDeleteI have a closet full of unworn winter clothes. As much as I am tempted to buy a couple of things, I am going to wait for the the spring clothes to be reduced. I have to for my wallets sake. Great promo though. I noticed the polka dot cherie is on sale for $49.99. It is still listed as $78 on the new arrivals page, but when you click on it, the sale price comes up! Just FYI for anyone interested!
ReplyDelete*anon @ 10:22*
ReplyDeleteIf you are returning to a B&M, they can look up your online orders using your email address. It may speed things up though if you can also print out the invoice and take it with you. Also, I'm sorry the SA told you they can't look up an in-store return using your CC...my local B&M did it for me yesterday! It took awhile (they have to go thru all your purchases, so an approximate purchase date helps), so maybe the SA you spoke to was being lazy :( HTH!
*anon @ 10:47*
ReplyDeleteThe taffeta skirt is really cute! I wear a 12 in JC pencil skirts (to fit my hips!) and was able to take a 10 in the taffeta since it is a genuine a-line shape. HTH!
OT-
ReplyDeleteI placed an order via the Red Phone on Dec. 23 (first day of FS), but the sales associate and CS assured me that they'd mark it so that I could return them, even with FS. They arrived with not only the FS packaging on the plastic, but also on the order receipt. It's soooo annoying because I specifically had the SA request no FS, and the CS rep. confirmed it. Does anyone know how I can fix this?
Anyone have any thoughts on the Bria Cami. I have been eyeing the pink one.
ReplyDeleteGreat to see two more codes! Bummer that the items I'm watching didn't get a further markdown though! I won't be using either promotion this time around.
ReplyDeleteHeather C. - I hear you! I will not be surprised at all to see my order get cancelled, but I figured I'd give it a shot. I wonder why they had so many of these in stock this morning? Did they find some extra inventory somewhere? Strange.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know if JC policy allows price adjustments on previously reduced merch? I'm receiving an order today and two of the items in that order are marked down even more today. TIA!
ReplyDeleteyay! the site is down!
ReplyDeleteFFM -- was it you who was looking for the Juliet shoes in sz 10 blanched almond? If so I know where there is a pair on sale! Email me snapsparkchik (at) gmail (dot) com.
ReplyDeleteleslie:
ReplyDeleteI've actually had them do a price adjustment for one of my orders with sale items because the items i bought were marked down only hours after I had bought them. They did do it for me but they say that they're not supposed to, only for full priced items. Depending on the amount of time between purchase and the markdown, im not sure if they'll let it slide. HTH! Call them and let us know how it goes! Goodluck!
Kate: Sometimes there is just a note with your order number, so the order is processed as usual but there is a note that you can't see on the invoice? I would just take to a store and explain--or call CS and ask if there is a note on that order number as discussed.
ReplyDeleteLeaderboys: I got the Bria cami and I really like it! I did size down though. GOt the champagne and its a really pretty cami, I think it will transition really well into spring. Good weight on the fabric--has a bit of heft and not too sheer.
Hope this helps!
*leslie*
ReplyDeleteTheir policy says "only full price" items can be adjusted, but I think they were more lenient about this during the holidays. Now that it is final sale (and they know we can't just re-order and return), they might have gone back to the policy. It might be worth a call, though! I'm also debating calling, as a sweater I ordered yesterday went down another $20 today. I called for something else this morning and got an unhelpful CS rep, so I'm not sure if I want to call back and deal with CS again. Anyway, HTH and good luck!
Kate-
ReplyDeleteMy understanding is that CS just makes a note of it on your account. You will still recieve merch w/ FS stickers. The best thing to do is call CS (if you have 20 min) and have them check you account. You can also go to a B&M and return the merch. They will tell you it is FS at which point you can say that you spoke to a CS rep who said that they would make a note on your account that the merch would be reurnable. As long as you don't make reurns all the time they probably won't even bother to call CS.
Site down again...their IT department should be embarrassed. Jcrew, or at least their site, is joke.
ReplyDeletePrice matching question:
ReplyDeleteIf I order an online on sale item (but not available in store) from the red phone, would I be given the additional 30% off there?
Thanks!
Leslie-
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling that CS is not going to do a price adjustment for you if it has been over 24 hours since you placed the order. This is just from my personal experience. I would occasionally tell them that I was going to re order and just return the higher priced items back to the store and then CS would give me an adjustment but this doesn't work so well now that they imposed FS. You can always call CS and "just ask":)
Thanks everyone! I had a feeling that they would adjust. I think I had a similar situation a few months ago and I sent an email. The CS responded that they couldn't adjust FS items. You guys confirmed it for me. Oh, well...still a good deal!
ReplyDeleteSmarty-
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info. I finally got a min at work to call CS and they told me to print the order confirmation and take it in w/ me when I do the reurn. CS said that they should be able give me a credit back to my JC card as long as it is w/ in 60 days w/ no problems.
Not sure why the SA told me they couldn't look up my order with my email address. Maybe she was new.
Anon at 10:50 AM
ReplyDeleteI placed an order earlier this week with the $150 free shipping. My total came to $152. I'd read on a post here that I COULD call and get the 15% applied and the CS rep I talked to was more than happy to give credit it back to me. She didn't say anything about that canceling out the $150 shipping promo. She also told me that if you reply to your confirmation e-mail from your school or university e-mail address, they will automatically take off the 15% without a call.
Good luck!
Thanks Roxy! I just emailed you. :)
ReplyDeleteCan someone advise me on the fit of the Onyx dress? I am waivering between a 2 and a 4. I generally wear 4 on the bottom, 2 on top, and I am a 2 in the Ava dress.
ReplyDeleteTIA!
Thank you for the heads up Anon 9:32 (I was looking for the Aran socks). Of course by the time I got to the site they were all sold out...who on earth is as into socks as I am? I'll keep stalking.
ReplyDeleteIs the website down for anyone else?
ReplyDeleteOT -- does anyone have the cashmere academy cardigan? Does it run tts?
ReplyDeleteAnon at 2:17: I have the Cashmere academy cardigan - super soft and warm. I got it in a medium, which is the size I usually get in j.crew sweaters. I've worn both a Victoria cami and a long-sleeve perfect tee under it.
ReplyDeleteI'm on the J.Crew e-mail list under two e-mail addresses (my regular one & a forwarding one), and I got a message for free shipping on $150 or more and another later in the day for $100 or more. How do they decide who gets what??? Strange... but meanwhile I'm checking the web site for some low-risk final sale items, probably including the infamous bug pin!
ReplyDeleteI visited the mall of america (mpls) store last night and there was basically NOTHING there- not even many new items!
thanks, Tammylee!
ReplyDeleteOT: Can anyone comment on fit and sizing for the Whisper Lame' Zoey Tank? TIA!!
ReplyDeleteJaneEsq.
ReplyDeleteI had the onyx dress. the fit is true to size and i really liked it.
....buuuuut one huge problem though is that the "V" is too deep. it made it almost impossible to wear. i unfortunately returned mine. i love the thickness of the material and it was a really flattering shape.
DMBaltimore~
ReplyDeleteSince I am a tad "bootyliscious" so to speak, you think I should go with the 4? I am just worried about it being super baggy on top. TIA!
Same question on the snow leopard shirt dress...2 or 4? I was thinking it looked a bit roomy and was going to go for the 2. Any thoughts? TIA!
ReplyDeleteFFM-
ReplyDeleteI tried the Zoey tank on at my local B&M at the suggestion of my sweet BF. The fit was a little off for me. I tired on the size 0 (I'm 5'2 and 110) and it was a little too loose in the arm pit holes. You could see the band of my bra which was not a very flattering look. It also kind of had a billowy look on me, which I wasn't into. The color, I think it was nectar, was a really soft warm orange color.
I think this tank would work on most body types and would be very pretty, it just wasn't for me. Sad b/c it was marked down to $19.99 with additional 30% off.
Anon 10:22 it absolutely works to print your order from the website to do an in store return. I've done it maybe ten times. This is one of the reasons I'm so ticked that they only show the last few orders since the site upgrade!
ReplyDeleteFFM:
ReplyDeleteI got the camel zoey tank and really like it! It runs BIG though, very blousy fit. This was great for me (pear-shape), but if you are not pear-shaped, you might need to size down two sizes (I went down one, similar to cherie and silk-hammered sizing).
The biggest problem I had was the bust. I am small busted (34B) and the straps were so long that I needed to have them shortened. Before tailoring, the shirt hung low enough to show a lot of my bra. If you are bigger busted, your "gals" might prevent this problem :) I liked it enough to pay for tailoring (and I got on a good sale), but this might not be worth it to everyone.
If it helps, I am a 10/12 bottom and 6/8 top at JCrew. I took a 6 in the Zoey. The 4 would've fit me up top, but not in the hips. HTH!
JaneEsq-
ReplyDeletei am definitely bigger on the bottom than top and found that it was cut pretty generously in the bottom section.
you will need to wear a tank underneath of it anyways, so if it was a bit roomy, it wouldn't be as obvious.
I am not going to use the free shipping codes. Unless There's some freak situation and things go forty or fifty percent off sale and they add the new spring jersey dresses in, I'm a pass. Today I went to my B&M to return my very last pre-holiday item and it was a ghost town in there, not even anything new to fondle! I'll let my plastic cool off for awhile.
ReplyDeleteRe: chiffon front cardis- EW, squared! A few weeks ago, an SA had one on at the register and it was all ratty looking. Like, really thready and falling apart. The chiffon just poofs apart at the slightest touch, I guess, and looks really bad. They look cute in pictures though.
ReplyDeleteOT-I was at the Atrium, Chestnut Hill, MA store and for some reason, they had some Ingrid patterned-fabric peep toes ON SALE (I think 179.99 +30% off) as well as the Ingrid ballet flats (99.99 + 30% off). I can't remember sizes, but I snagged the flats. They're SOOOO cute. I'll have to wait until winter's over before I can wear them though. :(
ReplyDeleteThe site was down for a minute or two around 3 p.m. for me.
ReplyDeleteWith all the talk about the 2 different emails I was feeling left out because I hadn't gotten one yet. Just checked and I got the free ship with $100 purchase.
ReplyDeleteStill on the lookout for the Italian deco dress, size 2! Any leads, please email me:
ReplyDeletejassjane@hotmail.com
I called every B&M in NYC and the San Diego store but found nothing...TIA
OFF TOPIC, Does anyone own the Chalet Shearling Boots? I just ordered them today--- but curious as to others opinions...
ReplyDeleteDon't know if anyone else noticed this new item in Feb's Cookie mag. Silk Annie cami- $88. It is featured in white and it looks like it buttons down the front and it has what looks (as best as I can describe it)like fabric petals layered over each other around the collar. Very pretty! I did a search on the JC website for Annie and nothing came up. Some new spring arrivals to look forward to!
ReplyDeleteSorry for OT, can anyone comment on the fit and sizing for the City patent-leather ballet flats? Are they pretty much the same as any J.Crew flats? Do they show too much toe cleavage? Since this is final sale, I don't want to take my chance without knowing how they fit. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU for the information on the Zoey Tank Anon@2:47 and Smarty! I love the new Blue Jasmine color, and will definitely plan on sizing down. :) Thanks again for your help!
ReplyDeleteBoo... :( I'm going to have to pass on the chiffon feather dress. I can't find a review on it anywhere and not sure how a bra would work ....just not worth the risk of a $130 dress that I can't wear..
ReplyDeleteI am thining about another velvet ecole jacket since they popped back up in almost all colors. Will def size up this time for this fall I hope to be preggers and need the exra room :)
I tried to place an order. I really wanted the washed weekend hoodie. The site crashed on me three times. By the time I got it back up the hoodies were out of my shopping cart. It is so frustrating.
ReplyDeleteIf anyone has one of the hoodies they would like to sell let me know! :)
I know this is a long shot but has anyone seen the camel or gray maggie in size 0 or 2 in their store? If you do, please email me at shop316@gmail.com. Thanks so much!!!
ReplyDeleteI broke down and bought a few things online, but only things that have been out of stock. I bought the grey argyle cashmere v-neck, the bateau cashmere sweater in navy, the bow applique t-shirt, and the slim patent belts in almond and black. Hopefully I actually get them!
ReplyDeleteThen I went to the store this afternoon and bought the color-blocked spectator flats in grey, silver, and black (only $23!) and the Alessia patent flats in ivory ($65). The clothes were very picked over, but they were still doing the 30% off the sale price.
FFM - I thought the Zoey fit on the large size. I bought a 4 in the Bria cami but got a 2 in the Zoey.
ReplyDeleteLeaderboys - I love the Bria cami. The weight of it is really nice. I can't wait to wear it this spring/summer. I have it in the champagne color but I think the pink is beautiful.
I think all you need to return a direct purchase is the order number. I have returned using printouts of the order confirmation email, shipment confirmation email or of the order from the My Account section of the website with no problems. Some new associates may get confused, but someone who knows what they are doing should not have a problem.
ReplyDeleteI like to use email printouts because it is so easy to search for the item by description or number and retrieve the order confirmation email.
Not sure if it was this thread or another, but anyone who receives the wrong or defective item should get their money back final sale or no final sale. J. Crew is usually wonderful about making right issues like this.
Who gets what email promotion is dependent on your past purchasing patterns and what their analysis thinks is your likelihood of purchasing. The less likely they think you are to purchase, the more tempting the offer.
Regarding the $100 and $150 freeship promo. I also have two emails registered with JC. Got the $150 offer at the MUCH MORE frequently used email and the $100 at the one I used only one or twice max.
ReplyDeleteFFM: I sized down in the Zoey; otherwise, it would have been too billowy and open the arm pit area. I found the need to size down in the Zoey dress, too.
ReplyDeletei totally didn't know you could apply your student discount to online/phone orders! how excellent! i know its just 15% but at least its something! :)
ReplyDeleteSorry, OT but I thought it might get lost in the weekly exchange:
ReplyDeleteI have for sale or trade:)
Golden Roses Pencil Skirt size 12,
$100 including shipping, BNWT
Leopard Sequin Tee size Large
$100 including shipping, BNWT
Kate
One of the Sanur dresses is also apparently on final sale too. I asked if they could do a "we will find it" for a certain color and they said they couldn't because it was on final sale. When I questioned it, saying it was still full price on the website, they said only the red color was, for $50. But it looks like they let you check out at the current full-price without even telling you it's on sale. That kind of sucks!
ReplyDeleteHi all, sorry to ask this. I know there is lots of talk on the Maggie--but can someone tell me basics on fit and colors? Does anyone have input on the yellow color?
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Jliz,
ReplyDeleteYou need to size up on the Maggie. (But I think that applies for all JC jackets). I normally wear size 0/xs in JC tops but I have my maggie in P2, and I still find it kind of tight in the shoulder/arms area. HTH
JLiz, I sized up in the Maggie to accomodate my shoulders. I tend to have to do that in most J. Crew coats or heavy jackets to compensate for the narrowness in the shoulders. I did find it more boxy having gone up one size.
ReplyDeleteDear Rats on Parade:
ReplyDeleteI'm anon at 10:50. Sad to say, I have few sparkly occasions either, but I'm wearing it on Valentines day with a cardigan and a belt. It looks shinier in the photo than it does in real life, probably because of the bright studio lights. It's cut so nicely that the style should keep for a while. Hope you love it as much as I do mine!
French Silk Twill Vionette tank dress
ReplyDeleteWhat about the seams right across the breasts?
I just got a similar email, but mine says free ship with $150 purchase and the code is 09FREESHIP.
ReplyDeleteI guess I need to spend more at J.Crew to get better offers:)
sorry, OT-my Cascading Flowers jacket just arrived and it is beautiful(whew-final sale!)-so excited!...now where to wear it!?
ReplyDeleteJLiz,
ReplyDeleteI highly recommend the yellow Maggie even though it wasn't a big seller. Beautiful color and I get gazillions of compliments on it:)
Hey JaneEsq,
ReplyDeleteDo you remember the comment you made about the black Victoria and possibly looking like Count Dracula. Now, everytime I put on a Victoria cami, no matter what color, I think that I look like the Count and I end putting on something else:)
Gwen, I was really interested in the Chiffon Feather Dress as well, but can't seem to find any reviews either. I inquired about it about a month or so ago, but it doesn't seem as though anyone has tried it on our bought it.
ReplyDeleteCan anyone comment on the Silk dupioni skirt? Is it like Belle or A-line Taffeta? Don't want it really full and it looks pretty full on th model
ReplyDeleteI'm having a bit of a final sale induced crisis...I had previously purchased the Sparkle Tweed Aubrey jacket, and while I loved it it was much too big to be flattering. They no longer have the item online, so I called CS and they said the item is not appearing on their system and is "totally sold out"...I'm not sure if I should believe what they say and buy the herringbone, or should i wait and hunt for the sparkle tweed? I'm just worried that I will order the herringbone and the sparkle tweed will show up in the sale again (things are always selling out and reappearing online!)
ReplyDeleteTIA!
I got FS code with 100+ in the email I never used to order with JCrew and FS code with 150+ in the email I always use online order with JCrew. Both codes are as Alexis listed. I will make sure that I stick with one email to do all my online order so that the other one will get a better code later on.
ReplyDeleteCongrats, CeeCee, on your Astrid. What color did you buy?
ReplyDeleteCleo-thanks-it is black and TDF! I was lucky enough to get it on sale. It fits nicely-just not sure when I can wear it and what to pair it with...any ideas?
ReplyDeleteceecee: I think it's FFM to the rescue. The hardest thing for me with this jacket is that i am still struck by how artistic it is that i haven't worn it. :)
ReplyDeletelike a few others on here i got the $150 free ship email on the email i always use to order with jcrew with and the $100 free ship with the email i never use. thr $150 email came early this morning, $100 this afternoon...doesn't make any sense at all..
ReplyDeleteSame here with the ship codes on two diff emails! Better code on less active email, the worse on the active.
ReplyDeletekate,
ReplyDeletedid you see any sale shoes at the atrium when you were there? thanks!
Anon at 7:32: I just received my dupioni skirt today and it's the best thing in my box!!! The fabric is absolutely gorgeous. They style is very similar to the Belle skirt in that there are pleats, but they lie flat. It's slightly full, but not crazy full...KWIM? There are fab side pockets, which I love.
ReplyDeleteSomeone had posted an earlier comment that the fabric was not soft, but stiff. I'm beginning to think that the skirt she was referring to was the silk taffeta skirt that is on sale for 19.99. The silk dupioni skirt is super soft and flowy. I bought this skirt in the golden cypress which is a golden light green color. It's absolutely stunning!!! The picture in the new catalog showing the skirt paired with a jean jacket is true to color. I'm going to buy another one, especially now that it's 49.99 (I paid 69.99). Good luck with your decision!
Kate~
ReplyDeleteAhhh I am so sorry I placed that mental image...me and my big mouth. I am sure you look stunning!
Just got the snowleopard print shirtdress and the onyx sequin dress. Went with the 2 in both...crossing my fingers that they both arrive!
ReplyDeleteWell I came home tonight to a JCrew box in my doorway. Always a good welcome wagon IMHO. I ordered the Donegal Tweed Ecole Jacket in Seagreen and the bow necklace cardi. The cardi is very cute and runs a bit big. I should have gone with the medium..oh well. The jacket to my dismay was HORRIBLE! I was severely dissapointed with the quality of the jacket. The interior lining was silk like the Velvet Ecole I own but was not attached to the jacket. You could lift up the lining and see the inside of the coat?! Seriously...? For $120 I want a coat that is FULLY lined!!
ReplyDeleteI called CS and they were very helpful. I told her that I felt I received a defective product or a crappy jacket that was overpriced. She could not confirm if the lining was defective or not so she is allowing me to return the jacket even though it was purchased on FINAL SALE. I am taking it back to my B&M (king of prussia) on Sunday. It is a 12T, in case anyone does want it...
I placed an order for another velvet Ecole in a 10T in the burgandy color. For $59.99 that was a SUPERB jacket! I think burgandy will be a great winter color.
Hope the JCA's will get this review on the Donegal Tweed Jacket and steer clear of a bad purchase..
No Leslie, I was referring to the silk dupioni skirt. I have both the silk dupioni and the silk taffeta a-line skirts. The silk dupioni is much more flowy than the taffeta one, but not as flowy as I expected based on the picture on the website. Just my impressions based on the skirt I received and how I perceived it on the website.
ReplyDeletenocrewinjapan--I was lucky enough to pick up a Madeline in the store for an additional 30% off today.
ReplyDeleteLeslie--I ordered the silk dupioni in golden cypress too. I was really on the fence about it, but since the price dropped, I thought I'd give it a try. I'm really looking forward to seeing the color, and I hope it's soft and fluid too.
btw, I tried on the Ava dress today, and the fit is horrible on me. It made my bum look huge!
ReplyDeleteI also tried on the pretty silk/cotton lawn top with the swirl cap sleeves and the tucks around the neckline--sorry I don't know the name of it. It is super sweet with just a bit of sheen and fits true to size.
giAnon @ 7:37
ReplyDeleteThey had quite a few Sparkle Tweed Aubrey's at King of Prussia PA on Tuesday. I don't recall what sizes, but give them a call, 610 265 0210.
amethyst!
ReplyDeletewhere did you get the madeline dress, can i ask? i'm looking for a 0! thanks!
Amethyst, where did you get it? I am looking for the Madeline in a size 2.
ReplyDeleteKATE-
ReplyDeleteYour Serengeti slingbacks are up on JC.com; in an 8.5! Hurry...
Sorry for the OT,I received a pair of boots for X'mas but noticed there was this bump in one boot between the outer leather and the inner lining which makes it really really hard for me to pull the boot on. If and when I finally did get it on, the bump sticking out inside makes it uncomfortable to wear. My question is if I could exchange it in the store even I had worn it once? Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI need some help! I'd like to order the cashmere zip up hoodie and the cashmere pullover hoodie but I'm unsure of sizing. I'm usually a medium, but I find that sometimes the cashmere runs a bit large. I have one of the long-sleeved t's from this season in a small, so I'm wondering if I should get the same in the hoodies. If anyone has any advice I'd appreciate it!
ReplyDeleteIf anyone finds a shimmery python pencil skirt in a size 4 or 6 will they please let me know? Sold out online!! TIA
ReplyDeletejassjane@hotmail.com
Hey Jane,
ReplyDeleteThere was one shimmery python pencil skirt in size 6 at the Soho NY store this noon -(212) 966-2739. Good luck!

I know it's not a high end or in demand item, but the washed weekend hoodie is still available for $29 in light pewter. I bought one last month in that color and LOVE it. Best sweatshirt I ever bought from J Crew, for sure. Though the tag says 100% cotton is has what feels like a silky material band on the inside of the buttons and lining the hoodie.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking about hoodies, I am looking for the Sherpa hoodie in XS in dark cloud color. Anyone? :)
ReplyDeletechiffoncupcake@gmail.com
Tina M - I am so glad you like the pewter. I ordered the dark fog and champagne this morning and they both got canceled. I paid for the overnight hoping that would help out but they still got canceled. I ended up with the light pewter. I can't wait for it to arrive.
ReplyDeleteJbird,
ReplyDeleteI ordered the serengeti slingbacks! Now let's hope they don't get cancelled (fingers crossed.)
