Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to take advantage of what's left in the post holiday sales, the additional 30%-50% off sales, or to see some new Spring/ Resort arrivals in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic! Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  2. OT, but I'm hoping another JCA can help! I too am now "forbidden" from entering the JC site-- i.e., when I try to open the homepage, I get a white screen that says "Forbidden" and something like "server access denied". I've tried all of the suggestions that JCAs posted, but to no avail. So, if anyone else knows how to solve this problem, please pass it on! TIA :)

  4. jackie from dc: what the exact address you use when trying to visit the site?

  5. Jackie, no help here but I'm having the same problem. I can't zoom in on anything, click on any items, zilch. It seemed to happen after I click through the catalog rather quickly...could that have been the problem?

  6. Hi - Looking for the Lille heavy wool pique coat in majestic purple, sz 2, 4, or 6 (4 preferred) and the Spectator mary janes in graphite in a 10. Thanks! I'll be at 2 B&Ms this weekend so I'll be on the lookout for everyone else's wants:)

  10. Stopped by Palo Alto store to pick up a catalog - sale section was not good. There are some size 11 shoes and suede corral flats, but it's looking pretty sad. Still some kya camis and a messy tub of green metallic belts.

I know this isn't the exchange but I plan to return a pewter polka dot size 2 cherie cami. Let me know ASAP if you want it (they are all sold out in regular sz2 and it's a catalog only item). I lucked out and got the P0 that is my normal size : )

mayyybe thinking of returning a sz0 charcoal berry astrid that I got during December. Has anyone returned the "non-final sale" Dec items recently? 60 days is ticking away...

  13. stopped by the austin domain b&m today and they're running the 50% off winter (75% off for employees!) and 30% off spring. there were a lot of kya camis at 30%. the winter stuff is VERY picked over, though. i found a half zip pullover cotton cashmere for my husband for $20, but the ladies section is down to the crazy brightly colored cords and extra larges. the only thing interesting to me were the smock-stitched tanks in ivory, medium to large at $19.99 + 50% off (online for $9.99).

the barton creek b&m had a medium shawl collared olive cashmere sweater a few days ago at $99, so now it should be $50 w/ 50% off. i'd go back for it, but i live in texas and don't need any more sweaters.

off topic, but banana republic started their 30% additional off sale today. online is okay, but b&m at the domain was amazing. every other person was walking around the domain with a little orange bag.

i also walked into madewell for the first time. i love the style, and the sales people were so helpful. i might have to follow them a little more closely =)

  14. I don't think I'll be visiting this weekend. However, I did visit today & ended up with the Anchor Belt. Might be my favorite spring release so far.

  15. jackie from dc: Have you gone into your security settings in IE -Tools- Internet Options - Sites to see is the JC site is forbidden, you might want to add their address as being a safe site to view.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I went to the Beachwood, OH store today. 50% off winter stuff... which was basically a bunch of random stuff, none of which was very exciting. I did buy their last pair of shoes. They also had 30% off spring. And the usual new arrivals. There was really nothing of note to report....

    ReplyDelete
  17. I'm attending a Special Event showcasing the new Spring Arrivals tomorrow morning at my B&M...the new jewelry came in earlier this week, and I'm curious to see how large and possibly heavy it is IRL. The earrings in the catalog are beautiful...I saw similar ones at Target when I was there earlier this week, and it will be interesting to compare the two.

  19. jackie from dc - I emailed J Crew to ask - and they told me to email them my IP address and they will look into it further.
You might want to send them an email with your IP address and a screen shot of the error msg. that you get.

  20. Hi all

Like Jackie from DC, last week I had the green screen on my bookmarks, and today my problems got worse: I cannot access J.Crew at all. I get a "forbidden" message when I try to access the home page. Cleaning cookies/restarting my modem haven't helped. Has anyone been able to resolve this issue? I sent an email to the "contact us" email yesterday; no response. Today I sent another (and cc'd it to Mickey Drexler, a first for me--I never imagined doing that, but this has to be costing him more business than just mine). I also tried a proxy this morning and couldn't get in, and as casualcrew suggested, I added J.Crew as a safe site, but no no avail.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

  21. I'm done with FS but if anyone is interested ... Target has some VERY cute J.Crew-like Spring shoes right now. I bought the Tatiana pump in Blush pink and there is a new strappy gold sandal, the Merona Maliyah 32.99 and looks just like overpriced J.Crew version! And they shipped the same day I ordered! Can't beat that.

  22. Anon @5:55: ITA about the shoes at Target, as well as some other items they have. I actually blogged about them the other night:

FFM's Fabulous Find and Does This Remind You Of A Certain J.Crew Bag? ...the prices are phenomenal for those who want the look of J.Crew for a lot less money. I also tried the Leopard flats that were discussed earlier this week and they are great, as well. Very cute IRL. :)

  23. mary2062: Is your IP address assigned to you, and it never changes, mine is like that, so rebooting your modem will not work for you. If this is the case contact your service provider to see if it is possible to get an new IP address.

    ReplyDelete
  24. FFM I love your blog! I get so many ideas from all of you because honestly, I can't afford regular-price J. Crew. Especially the shoes!

Thanks for the suggestion, but if J.Crew is blocking ip addresses, then changing it would just be a bandaid until they block me again, no?

Forgive my question...I'm not an IT person at all. How does one find an ip address?

  26. Can anyone help with a description of the key lime shade in the merino sweater? Online colors are not true to life and I don't have a store near me. Thanks for any help.

    ReplyDelete
  29. maryw2062: No a change in IP address should work, since it will be a new address to J Crew.

Not knowing what version of Windows you are using will be hard to give instructions how to find it, it should be in the Control Panel under your Network connections, it might be easier to call your service provider and ask.

  30. i went to my b&m last night in westfarms. nothing much exciting to report either. the 50% winter was one little rack with random stuff. saw a pembridge (i think that's what it's called) gold dot skirt in an 8, a black madeline dress in a 10, one long medium black puffer, and a think a black lille in a 4. the spring stuff was also 30%. they had a bunch of spring dot nicky's in sizes 0-6.

  31. Was hoping to buy the primrose garden necklace (was on sale for $115) in capri today, however I checked it yesterday and the sale price is now the new price. Missed out on the 30% off for that item.

  32. So, let me get this straight...stores have 30% off all spring stuff???

  33. Good Morning!
I have my coffee and warm robe on and am shopping JCrew . . .all's right with the world (after being 'forbidden' on Wednesday).

jackie from dc: It has NOTHING to do with your computer - JCrew has been having website issues all week and their server is blocking your IP address . . .it's not worth the time jumping through hoops to try and change your address (especially if you are wireless and need to do it through your router). I was without access for 24 hours and then *bingo* the homepage loaded. IT is aware of the issue, and is 'supposedly' fixing it . . .just like everything else about this website has been 'fixed' . . .

    ReplyDelete
  34. jackie from dc: sounds as if this is beyond anything on your end, especially after reading the suggestions from casual-crew and others. You should have to tinker with your settings, renew your IP, etc. to reach a publicly accessible site.

I would escalate this problem at J.Crew and would follow up on the email with a phone call letting them know you haven't received answers to your email. The CS will usually alert technical support to your inquiry so that they respond quicker.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Not 30% off all spring stuff, but the spring stuff that is on sale is an extra 30% off. At least that was my experience :)

  41. I would like to make a suggestion for a future post...

There has been SO much negative stuff said here about J. Crew's tees. I, however, have been buying them up left and right from final sale to affordably prepare for spring/summer. I don't want to make any expensive mistakes.

I think it would be interesting to see a post titled, "What is you all-time favorite J. Crew tee and WHY?" I think it would help us all out with current and future purchase decisions.

    Just a thought!

  43. I'm not able to change my IP address using the directions I've found online, but I HAVE found a way to access the site for the time being! Going to www.proxify.com and then entering the site's address works because they let you access JC through a proxy (hide your IP). There is a pesky ad/navbar at the top, but I'll take that over nothing right now...

On topic, my B&M was having extra 30% off sale yesterday and it was totally picked over except for some short-sleeved cardis, but I already had it in pink. No purchases! Yea!

  49. Just a heads up - yesterday I went to my B&M after work and scored a double serge pencil skirt in deep persimmon for $21.25. It was 50% off sale price of $49.99 and then I used my student discount on top of that.
I noticed they have plenty left at Rockefeller Center but only in size 8 and a few 10 (I think I got the last 6) and Madison Ave. and 45th they had some mostly 10 and 12. Snag one if you can!

  53. Speaking of jcrew shoe replacements, can anyone recommend some comfortable, stylish pumps and/or knee length boots? I need some for work-but since I will do alot of walking around I am willing to pay more money for the comfort. I just cant risk being uncomfortable in any of the jcrew shoes.

  54. I tried on the "Sun bleached appliqué tee" last weekend. I like the applique itself, the fabric of the tee, and the colors; BUT it didn't work for me because of the high crew neck. I thought it might just be me but after seeing one of the J.Crew employees wearing it and seeing the model on the website wearing it, I think the high neckline isn't particularly flattering on many.

  58. I was thinking about buying the high heeled flare jeans (aka mom jeans) on FS since it is the last day of the sale. But I've never bought pants or jeans from JC, just skirts. I am a 0 in the skirts but for pants I think I would size up AT LEAST to a 2 b/c pants tend to be tight in the thigh area on me. So I was thinking a size 26?? I have heard they fit big...can anyone advise?

But it may not be too risky; so far none of my FS items have been marked FS on the invoice...is anyone else finding this???

  60. Does anyone have an opinion on short length? I bought 3 different lengths. I know I am keeping the 11" bermuda. THe others are the 9" and the 5". I am almost 39, are 5" shorts too short? 62. Georgine,

I don't think the 5" would look too short as long as you are comfortable in them. I have seen many people our age with that length short on and they look very tasteful and age appropriate.

I am about the same age as you and I stick to the bermuda, 9" and 7", but only because I would rather be wearing jeans if the weather permitted. The longer length allows me to feel like I have something on my legs without being too hot.

    Hope that helps!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Smarty: I just bought that Target necklace yesterday for $5!! I would say it's almost identical to the JC one that is out. Same quality, weight, etc....Awesome deal!

Georgine: Definitely get the 5 inch shorts. I'm not as tall and/or as fit, it seems (LOL!) and I wear them. Bermuda shorts do not necessarily make one look thinner. It's wear the short hits your thigh....it needs to be in the right spot. As long as you are comfortable, go for it! I'm 40 and I wear them!!

  65. ovies: I purchaed the HHF jean and love it - I think the higher waist is actually more fashion forward now than low rise. Anyway, we seem to be the same size on the bottom & size 26 worked for me. I also wear 26 in JC bootcut jeans and a 27 in matchstick. I also had the same experience with some FS items not being marked FS on the invoice. In fact, I successfully returned something I purchased on FS.

    ReplyDelete
  66. really, FS items ordered online aren't all being marked FS? And so I can take them back?

call catalog and ask them to do a WWFIFY. I called yesterday and expressed my desperation for a dupioni in golden cypress and she said that they don't usually do one for sale items but that she'd do it for me since it seems like i really wanted one...so it's worth a try esp since its 29.99 + 30% off in the stores as well! 76. To find out your IP you can also go to whatsmyip. Question for those of you getting the green screen -- do any of you use Google Chrome as your browser? If you have it installed try going to J.Crew's site in an incognito tab. (Click on the tools icon -- the one that looks like a wrench -- and choose new incognito window). It probably won't work if J.Crew is IP blocking but it's worth a shot.

  77. I've been watching this blog for sometime and always get such great ideas (as well as the FFM site!) and this is my first comment! Just a quick note that the North Ave store in Chicago is having an additional 50% off FS items. There is not a huge array of items (though I did I did just get the Floral Ruffle Astrid jacket for $30 and a hammered silk tank in rhubarb for $9!).

  79. speaking of Target.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the string of pearl necklaces by designer Dean Harris that are on cleaarance now for $19.98. I already have the pink and just ordered the grey from their website.

They are good quality have nice weight, can be doubled up as a double-strand choker They are all around fabulous basic pieces.

The set that they call pink are more of a creamy white.

    ReplyDelete
  80. The Target bubble necklace looks nice! But isn't it a lot smaller than the JC one?

  82. Oh, Lyssa, I second the endorsement for Cole Haan Nike Air shoes! I have boots, heels & flats from them and they truly are the most comfortable shoes ever! I could walk around in them all day. I've never paid full price, but have had luck finding them at Nordstrom Rack & smartbargains.com at great prices. They wear really well and the quality is superb.

While I love the thrill I get from Target shoes, I often find my feet blistered and sore by day/night's end. I recently wore the shoes below to a 3 hour company party with my J.Crew Hilary dress. They were on clearance at my local store for only $8. But man. Ouch, ouch, ouch! :(

  83. I totally think there are a lot of Target shoes (and some jewelry) that looks a lot like J Crew's, but the Target shoes seem to fit peculiarly. Every single pair I've tried on is too wide for my feet and too small on my toes. I definitely J Crew's shoes better and they're worth spending the money on...if I can find them in my size!

  84. jcbellemarie - I am returning a size 2 bright blue berry astrid today, from the Dec non-final sale shopping spree. While I really like it, I don't love love it on me... it gapes too much in the chest area (I am a 34C), so I'm giving it a chance to be properly loved by someone else.

i have 5 pairs of the matchstick cords in various colors as well as the matchstick jeans in two colors, ultra dark and the lighter color...strangely i took a 26S in the cords and a 25 in the jeans...but for me its because i wanted the cords to be fairly comfy and cords that are too tight seem a bit much to me and they are more prone to shrinkage after washing...while the jeans they tend to stretch and generally you want them tighter...? hope this helps.

  93. I just wanted to say Thank You to Twiga who told me that a JC store in Milwaukee had an uptown tote I was looking for.
I got the bag in the mail yesterday and I LOVE it. It is perfect for me. I got the Ivory/Regal color. The leather is very nice and sturdy, not soft per se but that's OK because this bag will get a work-out.

  94. Question about the Carte de la france tee...

I have bought two of these in the dark slate since the final sale +30% off sale and I am in LOVE. I am seriously considering getting this one in pewter off Ebay if it doesn't pop back up in final sale.

Anyway, is the pewter tee the same thick cotton that the dark slate is? Is it see-through at all or does a nude bra work underneath?

I don't mind paying more for this one if it's as good quality as the one I have. TIA!

  95. Pudding:

Are you asking about the bubble necklace that originally came in papaya, turquoise and black, and now is in grey? I had the papaya necklace, and while it IS a lot of necklace, as long as you keep the rest of your outfit simple, I don't think it's overwhelming. If you want, I can send you a picture of the necklace on me...

  97. Hi all, thanks to everyone who commented on the mom - I mean the high heeled flare jean. I think I'll take the plunge. I think I'll go with the 26 but am a bit apprehensive still. I'm about 5'3 and 1/2 and 120 pounds, small frame, with a 'pear' body shape. I hope it works out! Any more advise before I pull the trigger is always welcome.

BTW, props to anyone who can pull off those matchsticks. Those are some tight pants!

  98. For those having issues with the site- I too was having the same issues described and so I called CS to place my order and got possibly the nicest CS person ever!!! She noticed that I had asked for a new password for signing into the site and that I had not re-set it yet. (because I tried to 7 times with no luck???) So after placing my order she re-set the password and said now you will be able to login into the 'NEW' system?? I asked what she meant by 'new' system and she said that I had placed my last online order through the old system and that was probably why part of it was cancelled. She said the old system was more paper based and the new system was all electronic therefore orders are processed much more quickly... I then logged on and it was like I was on a new site!!! Ok so I am not an IT guru, but it worked??

Never mind. I could control the urge and I got one off Ebay for $30 including shipping. I forgot that tomorrow the 30% off doesn't work anymore and $30 is just a few more dollars than I would have to pay through J Crew at $19.99 plus shipping and tax ($28).

  101. I have 25S matchstick jeans in premium indigo. The waist band has a 1.5 inch gape. Same size matchstick cords showed a 3 inch gape. (have a slight 'bubble' butt) Everything else fit the same: the thigh, length, knee, and leg. Unlike the jeans, the cords felt to me they'd stretch out even more by the end of the day. I heard they 'might' shrink but didn't wash and risk not able to return them. Kept the jeans but not the cord. [sad, took me so long to track that pair down]

    ReplyDelete
  105. love the matchstick,

im actually wearing those right now and they are kinda umm how should i say...rather retro...since they are "blue" jeans kinda like the jordache ones from when i was younger so a very pretty blue...so not bleached but a natural blue jeans and they aren't as light as in the photo at least in my eyes...i thought i wouldn't be able to pull off such light jeans since i usually steer clear and go with the dark skinnies but i really like them a lot now...esp since the stitching on them are a really nice toned-down shade of orange which make 'em more special ..

today i'm wearing them with a skinny fit blue ralph lauren oxford (that is one tone darker), a white tank top as an extra layer, and a pair of olive hunter wellies, and my majestic purple sherpa puffer...

i believe slastena has some great IRL photos as well...at 29.99 why not!

A bunch of the sad grosgrain ribbon belts with the square rinestones in many colors, some slippers, and about six of the whisper lame tanks in the lt. orange all in size 12. The spring 30% was small too, less than what's online, some of the l/s merino cardis and some os the s/s cotton cardis.

  115. ANON @ 6:29 AM - Key lime is not like sour lemon. I don't have a photo to show IRL, unfortunately as I returned the item (portland cardi). I would have exchanged it for the same color, but they didn't have it in the store. Anyway, it's like a light chartreuse. Think electric light green and that's close. It's not garish, though. This is in the Portland cardi. Haven't seen it in other fabrics, I don't think.

I am selling a Cherry Guava uptown tote on ebay that I got but never used because I was totally on the fence about it. It's item #230322596577 if anyone's interested. I'm starting it at what I paid!

  139. Has anyone noticed they changed the look of the Cashmere short sleeve crewneck tee for spring? I wanted the salmon in small (with the raw edges - item#90589) and it looks like it's disappeared from the website along with all the other colors for first spring rollout. I'm not too fond of the new style with the rib trim edges. I called CS and they said the previous style is sold out. Could that be that ALL colors from the January catalog are sold out? 155. dani_california, I'm glad you got the tote. I'm one of the Anons who answered your question about deciding between the Uptown and the Owen. The uptown was my first bag with Borge Garveri leather. At first I was disappointed that it wasn't very soft but the texture is addictive. I went on to buy the Frankie, small Oslo and Owen bags in the same leather and I totally love it.

The tote is really useful and you got a great basic color. I like the suede inside as well, it's very soft and the Uptown is one sturdy bag. Enjoy!

Definitely size down with this one.

    ReplyDelete
  159. Anon 4:20 I can not even tell you how much I love the Uptown tote bag. I'm completely sold on Borge now. I'm bummed that I passed on the Owen Hobos that were in the sale section. I could have easily used both bags, but I was trying to be good. 162. I got a putty Library Shawl Cardi at full price from the Westport, CT store because I liked it so much! I ended up with a small because of the long length- it fits very snug on my arms, but surprisingly had ample room in the back and everywhere else for that matter. The next size up swallowed my 5'4" frame too much, so this sweater will be worn with only tank tops underneath. I don't consider this a problem, I wear tanks and camis all summer.

It is extremely flattering for someone with a larger size chest. I typically have problems with cardigans fitting well around my chest- I often have to go up a size and then it's over sized everywhere else. Not with this little gem! The deep neckline has a slimming effect without drawing attention to the girls.

The color is a beautiful neutral for brunettes (I'm sure for everyone else too) and the cashmere blend makes it very soft. I am afraid of the dreaded pilling but took my chances anyway. The light pewter was pretty as well, I own a lot of light pewter items already though.
I look forward to wearing this spring, summer, and fall.

WARNING: embossed Aubrey halter dress has a side zipper that puckers at the waistline making it look like you have a growth on your hip. NOT cute. I was very bummed, this dress looked fantastic otherwise. Bummer. The SA said she wished they kept the zippers down the back on the dresses.

Final sale extra 50% off is VERY picked over here: lots of short sleeve cardis ($25 after discount) in xsmall and small, light pink, fushia, light beige, yellow. TONS of ribbon belts in 3-4 styles for $6 or less. Cashmere henleys with the crystal buttons in a melon color, light beige, black ($50 after discount). Very cute brown and orange jersey summer dresses, with a tie around waist (not sure of name) for $25 after discount.

  166. Ok, well, since I am addicted to JCrew I went to my B&M AGAIN today, because they had an uptown tote in the 50% off section that I was too stupid to buy yesterday, so I went back for it. Here's a more detailed listing of what they have in the sale stuff:

2 of the Carrie coats that tie at the neck, I think they were both size 6, and they were camel colored.
5-10 of the orange quinn camis, all size 8.
A bunch of matchstick cords, $29.99 plus 50% off, a variety of sizes, they had some 26s, 27s, and 29s.

In the 30% off section they mostly had tons of short sleeved cardigans still marked $59.99... and nothing else really. No shoes :(

But I am happy because I scored a multicolored uptown tote for $59.50.

  170. krista.alana: ITA with you. The Clara is such a pretty piece. I have the pewter, which goes with everything and the red (which is actually redder than orangey, thank God). So gorgeous I vought all 4 colors but I finally decided to be good and returned the navy and acorn. Women have stopped me walking down the street asking me where I got the Clara. The pictures on the JC website doesn't do it justice. It's no good over a long-sleeve tee - it just takes off a few notches of the clara's elegance. Much better as a short-sleeve cardi. Can't wait to wear it more when the weather warms up.

    - one velvet ecole in the papaya color, size 8 - not sure on the price, but it was 50% off
    - one "droopy flower" astrid, pink, not sure on size or price

  191. Roxy - There might be a few of those left in the Danbury, CT store. I think I saw several there, but it might have been the plainer grey/white one. Worth a call at least. Their number is 203-748-3580

  192. Sproutina - I just picked up a pair in brown at the Madison Ave. store, they were $99.99 less 30%, so I paid $69.99. Definitely overpriced online, I would search for them in a b&m. Also, they run big, so I would size down by a half.

  193. Is it possible that the Avignon silk peep toes are already sold out online? :-(

  195. Looking for two items from crewcuts, please: Has anyone seen the girls double serge wool winter coat in size large either color? I'm also looking for the toggle or peacoat in navy in size xl? Thank you.

  197. If anyone is around the Central Virginia area you can find the JCREW clearance store in Lynchburg that has a very large amount of clothes for CHEAP! It's usually a hit or miss, but definately worth a try!

  198. Forgot to clarify re. crewcut items: I need two coats, one for a boy and one for a girl. Thus, I'm searchign for the boy's wool toggle coat or the peacoat. The third coat style I'm looking for is the girl's double serge. Thank you.

  199. Slightly O/T, but still shopping related :)

I just received the Ann Taylor Gelsi ballet flats in today's mail. They are FABULOUS and will be perfect for spring. They retail for $109, but if you use the following code: 98200125, you will get 20% off.
They are a slightly metallic linen ballet flat with the cluster flower similar to JC's flower capri sandals from last summer. They also have the most beautiful beads in the center of the flower. These shoes would easily be $250 or more at JC. For $87 they are a great buy. The run slightly big to TTS. I ordered my regular size and have a bit of room in the toe, but because of the elastic back, they don't slip off.

  200. BTW: Ann Taylor also has the Gelsi flat in orange suede or blue suede on sale for 39.99. The code above works as well, so they would only be $32. Awesome deal!
