Congrats to the shoppers in those areas! :) Sometimes J.Crew announces a store opening by sending residents in the area a promotional offer (e.g. $25 off purchases of $150+). So if you live in the area, keep an eye out for an extra something in your email or snail mail from J.Crew. ;)
Starbucks anyone? Frankly, I think they just might be expanding a bit too fast.
ReplyDeleteJeff- I agree with you and I am bit surprised, especially now. How close does one have to live to receive a coupon?
ReplyDeleteThe store in Woodburn, Oregon is an Outlet Store and I am looking forward to visiting it in February!
ReplyDeleteyay for Emeryville!
ReplyDeleteI'm thrilled beyond words to hear about their new Cherry Hill location!!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to those nearby the new stores! I live in San Diego and wish J. Crew would open up a second store. There used to be a second store, but it closed several years ago...
ReplyDeleteMegan: Maybe . . . you should move near a store! Hey, if they don't come to you, go to them.
ReplyDeleteMegan, where was the second store in San Diego? Thnx
ReplyDeleteAh yes, a true J. Crew devotee! Perhaps I should consider a move to a more populated J. Crew city... (my husband would die if he saw me writing that!). The second store used to be at Horton Plaza, but they closed it two or three years ago. I actually lived in San Francisco for a few years (moved back to San Diego 2.5 years ago after three years in SF), and they didn't even have many stores there. Only one right in the city. I envy the East Coast J. Crew-ers...
ReplyDeleteMirna - if you're reading this - Oh No. Another store in our metropolitan area to feed our (or at least my) obssession.
ReplyDeleteJeff, this makes it 9 retail establishments within a 5-30 minute drive of me, NOT including the outlet, which is a 40 minute drive from me. The Starbucks comment may be a little apropos.
Plus, I'm surprised that they are taking this risk in a slowing economy. Luxury or discretionary purchases are always the first to drop off the cliff in a slowing economy.
yay for Emeryville!! finally!! i always thought there should be one there :)
ReplyDeleteI am really surprised that they are opening new stores, especially when 2000 malls are said to be closing in the US this year.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to all those who live near one of the new stores! Have fun shopping! :)
ReplyDeleteThe Gaffney store is an outlet... Nothing to be excited about! I really wish they would stop opening MORE outlets! Open another real store in South Carolina! We have enough outlets already! Outlets suck!
ReplyDeletecasual-crew
ReplyDeleteI believe you've been tricked. There is no way 2000 malls are closing this year. That would average 40 malls per state. Most states don't even have that many malls. This is a hoax.
Actually, casual-crew is right -- analysts predict that 2,000 malls will be closing in the United States this year. See here and here.

ReplyDeletesheesh, living in philly, i have easy access (within 30 miles or so) to at least 4 stores (one just a quick bike ride to downtown from my place!) and a factory outlet... now another in cherry hill? it does seem a bit much, but I guess I can't complain.
ReplyDeleteSo excited for Emeryville! No more driving to Walnut Creek or Pleasanton for me. :) Thanks for this info.
ReplyDeletekitchy7: Thanks for providing the links .
ReplyDeleteI'm RIDICULOUSLY excited about the Oregon outlet that is opening. Hoping they send me an offer!
ReplyDeleteStill no Canada :-(
ReplyDeleteNo problem, casual-crew. I've been reading for the last few years that large indoor malls are a dying breed due to the advent of outdoor malls and online shopping and the bankruptcy/consolidation of large anchor stores. Looks like it's finally coming to pass and taking smaller malls with it.
ReplyDeleteMontrose - I'm with you on that one. Oh, how I wish we had a store in Canada.
ReplyDeletei literally live 2min walking distance from the to-be emeryville location. VERY excited about being able to order WHATEVER i want from the catalog without any worries, since i'll be able to return in store super easily!! not to mention being able to browse the in-store merchandise regularly. yay!!
