Free Shipping With No Min {one day only!} :)

A big "thanks!" to NerdyCrew who shared with us a new code from J.Crew. They are offering free shipping with no minimum using promo code VZQ4FDJ. This code does expire *today*, 1/9/08.

  1. When are they going to do another private sale?! It has been FOREVER since they've done it and they used to do it practically every time a new rollout was in stores!

  2. yea, thanks for the code! Also yea: I got an email from the benevolent gods of J. Crew CS telling me that an item I'd ordered in May of '08 that had been waitlisted is now cancelled. Thanks for that update, J. Crew. Ha, Ha!

  3. Hi Alexis,

Thanks for the heads up on free shipping. Maybe I'll buy that pecan ribbon-bead necklace I've been stalking. Didn't want to spend the $$$ on shipping such a light item. However, this certainly makes it tempting!

    Thanks again,

    Heather:D

  5. wOW! Thanks for the code. Debating on using it as I am unable to combine with an eduator's discount. :(

  6. does anyone try to check inventory at anthropologie like we do at jcrew? just wondering if there was a way to do it there too...

    ReplyDelete
  7. Thank You!!!!!!! It worked!

    ReplyDelete
  8. Thanks so much for sharing. Free shipping is always a bonus. :)

  9. Thanks for sharing the code :) - I broke down and bought the ombre ring I had been admiring...

  10. WTF? Can anyone clarify... I have some winter points that is not up to 500 and now I am getting spring points.. If the points aren't an even 500 do they not carry over to the next rewards cycle?

    ReplyDelete
  11. To clarify I have a couple hundred points in each winter and spring, they are not the same, and the winter did not carry over to spring.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Thank you! I had two items in my shopping cart for days that didn't fulfill the minimum purchase requirement for other the promo code. This was definitely worth the wait!

  13. I am looking for a shirt that I saw in the retail store yesterday, it is v neck and has a print on it, it looks like the henna tee but isn't. I don't see it in the catalog either. Anyone know anything about it? I saw it in white with a tan colored print and citron with a white print (I think). There were a few other colors too.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Has anyone seen the palmero sandals in colors that aren't patent? Online they only have patent, but I feel like ones shown in the catalog weren't patent... I can't go to a store, so don't know what is available there.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Woohoo! Just worked on a FS and non-FS item totalling $65.00. Thank you so much for sharing the info.!

    ReplyDelete
  16. It has been years since I have seen a free shipping code that did NOT work for Canada. I think J.Crew is pretty standard in that regard.

    Unlike some other online retailers.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I introduced one of my staff to J.Crew. She told me this morning that she has a few items in her cart and was debating. I sent her the code and she pulled the trigger. Now she will likely be hooked. Yes, the first one is free....

    Thank you for sharing!

    ReplyDelete
  18. anon @ 4:58,
same happened to my points! i thought i read somewhere that they have certain cutoff dates...but im not totally sure what those dates are. i guess they don't carry over? thats sad huh now we have to start over.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Ashley-
I don't think that practice is very customer friendly!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Can the same individual use the free shipping code more than once today? i.e. same address on 2nd order and apply the free shipping code again? tia

    ReplyDelete
  21. ^yes, use to your hearts content:)

    ReplyDelete
  22. so you can't use the student discount with this promo code?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Thanks for the code! I just got the melon merino portland sweater.

  24. Has anyone had recent issues with inventory not being accurate? I've been watching a couple items today and notice them dwindling in numbers as I watch... makes me think they have a hold on their inventory now?

    ReplyDelete
  25. anon @ 5:57:
the cs rep I spoke with the other day told me that even though those numbers show up as quantities, they sometimes end up being false inventories. So it really isn't accurate. Yes, you may end up "thinking" that you got an item because the number was high but your item might end up getting canceled in the end or the other way around. HTH :)

    ReplyDelete
  26. Speaking of inventory, what do you all think about the bathing suit inventory in this "resort roll out" since this isn't the actual summer bathing suit inventory, do you think they will re-order? I am looking at the jersey bathing suits and the quantities are low... I remember in past seasons they came out with a complete different palate of colors in the summer as opposed to resort... So just wondering what everyone else thought about re-orders for the resort line! Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  27. how can you tell how many items are in inventory??

    ReplyDelete
  28. I caved but the item I bought was the only one left so it will probably get canceled.

Or they will update the site tomorrow and there will be 300 of them plus additional 30% off and free shipping. But that is my luck;) thanks for the code!

    ReplyDelete
  29. ashley: What did she mean by false inventories? The number could be inaccurate by 10 or some depending how many phone orders are ahead of your on line order, but anything more than that does not make sense.

    ReplyDelete
  30. anon @ 6:16,
oh she meant that sometimes that number that pops up isn't entirely correct. she said that their systems are sometimes off. she didn't give me any more detail than that example i previously wrote. sorry :(

just try not to get your hopes up. i did an order for a sequin tee wednesday morning. im talking like 8am eastern time in the morning. the quantity i saw online was 29. and so i called right away to do the phone order to make sure it didn't get canceled. thats when she told me that there might be a false inventory. she put the order in... and well now today is friday and you guessed it, i got the canceled item notice.. but this time they called me by PHONE to let me know! weird 'cause i thought they always sent emails.. HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  31. That inventory info really isn't something to share with a CSR who may well be clueless anyway but kinda top secret info;)

    ReplyDelete
  32. Thanks Ashley for the explanation, and sorry that your order was cancelled.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I placed an order for two portland sweaters an hour ago. After all this inventory chatter I did an "inventory check" and the three colors I checked had 70 in stock in size small. We all know this can't be right...

    ReplyDelete
  34. those online inventory numbers are not accurate. don't believe it. those are just number jcrew put up online. they maybe there, they may not be there, there may be more jcrew is holding on

In terms of inventory management, jcrew is very tactical. don't fall for it.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Up until Christmas the inventory #s matched with the actual, I do not know what happened recently maybe their system bugs are acting up again surprise surprise!

    ReplyDelete
  36. I am glad to hear about the code but there just isn't anything I have to own right now!

Thanks anyway! I love FS codes.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I ordered the shimmery python print pencil skirt. OMG, I have not seen anything so garish since the debut of that '70's show. I'm sure some like it but the sparkle is not me and it wasn't apparent on the website that there was large silver metallic thread woven in. It looks like I rolled in tinsel. I ordered my regular size and I'm swimming in it.

My email said FS, but there is nothing on the receipt or item itself. What is your opinion, could I return it? I'd be happy with a credit even. I will never wear this thing. Major disappointment.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Oh no. I might just have to succumb to this offer. And I have been trying so hard to resist.

    ReplyDelete
  39. thanks! i ordered 2 belts and an umbrella which i had been holding out on b/c i couldn't decide if i should spend the extra dough to get it up to $100 (well, at the time there were tights involved, too, but they are gone now...sigh).

    ReplyDelete
  40. I was able to return a FS everyday chino pant in sz 2 at the store for a refund. I just took the receipt that came in the box to the store and they didn't ask me any questions. The pants were ridiculously huge! I was nervous b/c of it being a FS item but am very happy that I was able to return it. Hopefully, you won't have any problems returning the skirt.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Thank you! I haven't bought anything in months (from J.Crew). I had a bunch of things in my cart but deleted it down to a tafetta skirt (great price, but where to wear it?) and some tee shirts for myself and my son. I'll put the rest of the stuff back in my cart and wait for a good % off sale.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Does anyone know if the crackle-metallic mary janes in sherbet are the same color as the metallic belt in sherbet? Some people were saying it was more of a copper color than it looked online. I'd like it to match my belt so if it's the same color, it's all good.

    TIA

    ReplyDelete
  43. Thank you Charlotte. I live in Canada so I cannot return to the store. Maybe I will call CS and explain that it is too large. I have been a long-time and loyal customer and very seldom make a return (less than 1 per year) so perhaps they will say OK.

I saw La Belle Helene say that she just loved this skirt. Kudos to those who can wear it. It's just not me.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Charlotte-they have turned the Everyday Chinos into fat pants. They are great for those 5 days every month when you want to eat a full pint of Ben and Jerry's on the couch and pop Advils. I have one pair, and I won't buy any more. I miss the old ones, which were more of a flare shape. I just bought some Original fits and they are no better-very schlumpy.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Thanks sooo much for the code!!

    ReplyDelete
  46. re: rewards points - i would also love to know what's going on with them! my account shows 24 points earned in "winter 2008" cycle, but that is waaaay off (thanks to HOHOHO and TURKEY!). Are these my "leftover" points that did not evenly equal a round 500? Does this mean that my other rewards points have now been transferred into cards and I can expect those soon?

Sorry, for all the questions, I just got the card in Oct. TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  47. jcrew does roll over your reward points, so don't worry about they are going to be wasted.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I received an order today with the metallic mirror skinny belt and the skinny patent leather belt - both in the same size.

the prong holes on the metallic mirror belt start at least 4 inches after the same place on the patent belt. Both belts are supposed to be worn on your waist but I can wear the metallic belt on my hips. Odd.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I actually liked the shimmery python pencil skirt, which surprised me. I normally don't like shiny clothing because I think it draws attention to parts of me I don't want emphasized. But I liked this skirt and the peacock pencil skirt, both of which have silver threads (but aren't completely shimmery). I think I'm just becoming more of a fan of making my skirt a statement piece and toning down the top and accessories. (Or at least sometimes...I plan to wear both with my silver Claudias, which finally arrived after being waitlisted for months).

    ReplyDelete
  50. Anon @ 7:45,

I have the crackle Claudia pumps in metallic sherbet and the belt in metallic sherbet style# 11107, and the only difference that I see is that the shoes are "crackly" and my belt is not "crackled" at all. Maybe that would lead some people to think they look slightly different. I really do not think they look different. I LOVE them both, and plan to wear them together.

I wore my shoes out over the holidays and was teased about "Where's Toto?" but I also got so many compliments!

Considering the distance between your feet and your waist, respectively, it looks the same!:) HTH!

    Athena

    ReplyDelete
  51. I really did not order a lot last year. Until the holiday promos. The after Christmas stuff is just arriving now and it is all much too large. Has it been this way all year? How are the sizes for the spring items, have they changed or are they the same?

    ReplyDelete
  52. thanks anon @ 8:14!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Athena, I have the belt too, and it does not look red at all. Do your shoes look red? The belt is more of a pale pink with peachy undertones. Someone else said the shoes looked more coppery. I don't want red shoes, but the peachy pink color of the belt is adorable. I would like to pair the shoes and belt with my new toothpick jeans.

I guess I can order the shoes and see. No problem returning because they are still full price.

    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Just grabbed a pair of shorts for $19.99. I know I won't wear them for months (the irony is I shoveled an the driveway of snow an hour ago.)

Love the free shipping, thanks so much.

    ReplyDelete
  55. they do not let me know use the code for a phone order saying it is only for people whose orders were backordered recently.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Seems a few people like the shimmery python skirt, maybe I can put it on the weekly exchange instead of sending it back to J.Crew twilight zone where it may show up again later. Or not.

    ReplyDelete
  57. How do you check the inventory of an item? Is this done on their website? Would love to know, even if their info is not always correct, it would help give an idea in some cases.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Thank you so much!! I bought 2 more yoga headbands, I love them and the code worked just fine! :)

    ReplyDelete
  59. Anon at 8:00- You totally made me laugh. Images of Gap reverse fit were dancing in my head. Shudder...

    ReplyDelete
  60. Anon @ 8:29,

You are cute! I guess my comment was misleading. I think the metallic "shininess" (i know that is not a word!ha!) just caused people to tease about them looking like Dorothy's ruby slippers. Sorry, NO they are definitely NOT RED, they ARE the same peachy, pink color! Beautiful!

Have you read that they are on really good sales in the stores? Have you tried calling?

So sorry for the confusion...the metallic sherbet shoes and belt match wonderfully IMO!

    Athena

    ReplyDelete
  61. Kitchy7, I just got the shimmery pencil skirt & really like it, too. I think it's very chic, and looks great with a black or grey sweater.

I also have the sparkle tweed Aubrey, which is the same "night sky" color & love it.

  62. I'm waiting for the feather chiffon dress to go below $80 before buying it on final sale. Don't know if it will ever get that low but a girl can dream...

  63. Spring Forward-

Ha ha-glad I made you laugh! I looked up those Reverse fit pants.....whoa! Those are bad! The FF aren't that bad. They're big all over, but thankfully don't taper like the RF ones. Ha ha-those RF are like Mom Jeans on steroids!

  67. Did anyone try the cotton poplin Sydney dress? How is sizing, fit and material? It looks so pretty online. Just wondering if the pleats in the chest area would look funny on a 34A? Any input is welcome. Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Athena, is it the Claudia pumps or the Mary Jane heels that are on sale? I want the Mary Jane heels.

If any of you see the Crackle Metallic Mary Janes in sherbet on sale in stores, in size 8, that would be great if you could let me know. They are still available online, for full price. I follow the blog daily so just post.

    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  69. Alexis - could you let me know what kind of inserts you use in your ballet flats? I know I've seen you mention it before, but I can't find the post. I just bought a pair of Becca Flats and they seem about the right size, although I'm afraid if I hold my foot a certain way the shoe might slip off, and I know that a half size down would be too small. Just wanted to see what you typically use to make them more comfortable for walking and/or wearing. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  70. Anon @ 9:26 - Mom jeans on steroids. I totally cracked up when I ready your post. hehehe Don't even need to look up the jeans, it's fun just to imagine.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Yes, it seemed to be TTS. It's just when I got it, I could not justify the cost for the dress. It looks beautiful online... but when I received it I wasnt as impressed. I wouldn't let this hold you back from purchasing but I would be a little reluctant to purchase as a FS.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Lindsey B., what have you been wearing your shimmery python skirt with? TIA.

    ReplyDelete
  73. sharkbait-thanks for that info. Just out of curiosity...would you be able to wear a bra with this dress? I am large busted and have planned to size up purely for that fact. The deal breaker for me would be the bra issue. Is this a strapless only dress or would a traditional bra work? Thanks! You have been MOST helpful :)

    ReplyDelete
  74. "Thanks!" again to NerdyCrew for sharing the code with us! :)

Anon at 9:40 PM: Fortunately, most of the ballet flats I have, I can walk fine in- and by that I mean, light days at the office, definitely not for walking around in the city. ;)

The J.Crew flats that do need padding, I turn to Dr. Scholls Insoles. (Available at Wal-mart or Target for about $8 for 3.) They are great- just enough padding to keep my foot comfortable. Not enough padding that my foot is elevated out of the shoe. ;)

Now for flats that I worry about slipping out (because I am wearing stockings) but are otherwise fine, I use: Dr. Scholl's For Her Ball of Foot Cushions. It really helps to keep my feet in the shoe and provides a bit of padding for the ball of foot. :) (Available at Walmart and Target for about $4.)

Also, I have noticed that all the ballet shoes have slippery soles. I recommend a sole grip (link here shows an example). The soles of the shoes are just way too slippery without one. Walmart sells them for less than $2 each.

I hope this all helps! :)

    ReplyDelete
  75. Anyone know how the claudia pumps fit? I ordered my regular size, hope they fit tts! Anyone have these? TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  76. Tried the code but it didn't work - did anyone else have this problem?

    ReplyDelete
  77. Ashley- which sequin top were you looking for? They had some in the Final Sale section (plus 30% off)of the B&M in Oakbrook, IL. They had a bunch of the tissue sequin-placket henleys last night, as well as that other tee that has a line of sequins down the center. Can't remember the name of that shirt. Hope that helps!

    ReplyDelete
  78. Anon @ 10:08,
Oh thanks but it was the tissue sequin graphic tee in navy (with the bow in the middle.) They did a we will find it for me (even though it was a sale item) since it got canceled on me. Good news, they found one and its gettin' shipped out! :)

    ReplyDelete
  79. It's not working for me either.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I also own the Shimmery Python Skirt and love it! I wear it with either a silk long sleeves black shirt or with the dark slate Quinn Cami. I am a size 2 in pants and the size 0 of the skirt fits like gloves.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I also own and love the shimmery python pencil skirt. It was a surprise to me that I like it so much! I wear it with my black cashmere heirloom henley or a grey v-neck sweater I have from Esprit.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Thanks, I actually made good use of this code.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Thank goodness, code totally just worked for me on the Rebecca short dress. I'm getting it for a May wedding and keeping my fingers crossed that it works. Any comments on fit, esp from the larger busted among us? I sized up with the intent on taking it in just in case.

    ReplyDelete
  84. To anonymous who was also having problems with the code - you have to put in your credit card info. THEN put in the promo code - Good Luck !

    ReplyDelete
  85. I have yet to open a JCrew credit card... is it worth it? I shop there at least once a week... can someone give me a quick rundown (or link?) about the perks?

    ReplyDelete
  86. Not overwhelmed w/ the new stuff ~ went to Banana and they had some really cute dresses, going to wait for their sale. But, will check the BM after 1/20 when new stuff comes out.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Steph-TTS and on sale in stores for $69.99 minus 30%---$50! I hope those looking at these are not paying full retail of $198! They are fun and actually one of the better made and comfy shoes but IMO I would get them on sale for $50:)

    ReplyDelete
  88. Steph -- I found the Claudias TTS. I had to size up 1/2 size to a 9 1/2 for the Trixie, Isabella, and Gayle this year, but I otherwise always wear a 9. A 9 in the Claudia was perfectly roomy.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Can anyone comment on the fit of the Chamonix boots?

  90. Alexis - thanks for the info on the shoe inserts. I am definitely going to try them! - Anon @ 9:40

  91. Thanks for the code. I'd been eyeing the stadium cloth Lucinda so I used my gift card and I got it for $83 shipped! Quite a deal considering the original price was $350.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Thanks for the info on the claudias! I put them on hold in the store and they sold them! So they ordered them and price matched for me. I usually wear a 6.5 - 7 but I ordered the 7. I hope they work becuase i need them for next weekend!

  95. Looking for advice on the cascading boucle astrid, please - is the fit the same as the droopy-flower astrid? TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  96. Re CF Boucle Astrid fit:I think it is the same-I have same size in both jackets-HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  97. OT: I was able to secure my droopy flower on the Boucle' Astrid with a Corsage pin. I used it in addition to the pin already on the flower, and placed it above the flower pin, so that the flower stays in place close to the jacket. No need to starch or redo the pin, so if you need a *quick fix* for the flower this is an option. :)

    ReplyDelete
  98. FFM-sounds to be so much easier--need more info though. I am not following how that magically took care of it. Are you talking about a large headed straight pin or am I clueless? Then did you steam the flower or do you not mind it being all closed down (some wouldn't but I prefer the opened up look that "delightful" attained.) TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  99. Gwen- I think you can wear a bra. I have a very large bust and I can NEVER go strapless. With this dress though, I would consider sewing in some lingerie straps to help. what size are you looking for?I would be willing to sell you the one I have. Emailme Gwen sharkbait8574@yahoo.com

    ReplyDelete
  100. Hi bug pin! Ok, so here's more detail. I did use a large corsage pin like what is shown here: Click Me . I pinned the flower into place using the already attached pin. Then I held the flower into place the way it *should* be on the jacket. I then took the corsage pin and threaded it into the back of the flower (where the J.Crew pin is) only higher up...basically like pinning a corsage or boutonniere. What happens is that instead of having to move the J.Crew pin, the corsage pin acts as reinforcement, and is actually in the place the J.Crew pin SHOULD be. The flower pretty much fluffs on it's own when it's in the correct place. I didn't steam mine at all. I hope this is clear...let me know if you need more info.

  101. I was lucky enough to catch the XS Tartine cardigan I was trying for and used the free ship code. I with they did this more often, it was great to buy something for $19 and not have shipping cost of half as much again!

    ReplyDelete
  102. ceecee - thanks so much. Which color in the CF astrid did you get? I'm hoping to find one in my size, though I know the odds are against it.

    ReplyDelete
  103. I got the Charcoal in a 4-was lucky to find it at my local store...thinking about the green one, too, given the price. I can't wear the pink. I am working on the droopy flower!

    ReplyDelete
  104. oops...was talking about the Boucle Astrid. I have the CF one in Black-lovely

    ReplyDelete
  105. I got the flower astrid in pink, and love it - but then I love pink. I can't picture myself wearing the green, OTOH :-) Love it when J.Crew makes an item in enough colors to appeal to us all.

Did the charcoal flower one ever come to stores? I've only seen the pink one.

    ReplyDelete
  106. smarty -- way to go with those hyperlinks!!!

  107. I like codes like this, especially when I want a couple of small things rather than one big thing. :) I wish they had them more often.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Anon @ 2:50 pm: I wrote this in another post. Not sure if you are the same person questioning:

I find the fit of the flopping flower astrid :) more boxy than that of the cascading flower, which i found a little tight in the shoulders relative to the bodice width. I also noticed that the arm pits were higher in the cascading flower. If you're concerned about size, i would choose my regular size in the single flower bouclé and possibly size up in the cascading.

Note that i can't tolerate my shoulders constricted and some would say my shoulders are broad, but this has been a running argument. :) Never had this issue with any other brand.
