Added to J.Crew Sale: More New Items {plus 20% off for Cardholders}

"Thanks!" to many of you, who let us know about the following promotion.

J.Crew is reminding customers to take an extra 40 to 50% off final sale items with promo code SHOPNOW. The offer expires January 18, 2015.

J.Crew also added some new items to the Final Sale section. I am not sure if this is enough to entice some of us to shop (as we are "shopped out" for sale items) but it is a good start. :)

Also, "thanks!" to Unknown/Carolyn & Taylor (in this post), as well as Megha, who let us know that J.Crew credit card holders can enjoy an additional 20% off everything (in addition to 40-50% off sale), both in stores and online with promo code CARDSONLY and SPECIALSALE. This promotion ends January 18, 2014. The fine print includes:
*20% discount valid on select full-price items. 40% and 50% discounts valid on select final sale items. Offers valid in J.Crew stores and at jcrew.com from January 16, 2015, 12:01am ET through January 18, 2015, 11:59pm ET. In-store discounts as advertised. Offers valid online on items marked "20% off with code SPECIALSALE," "Extra 40% off with code SPECIALSALE" and "Extra 50% off with code SPECIALSALE." Offers not valid in the 769 Madison Avenue store, Liquor Store, Ludlow Shops, J.Crew Factory stores, at jcrewfactory.com or on phone orders. Offers cannot be applied to previous purchases or the purchase of gift cards and cannot be redeemed for cash or combined with any other offer. 20% discount not valid on select men's suiting or Ludlow shoes; women's fine jewelry; select women's jackets or outerwear; select Collection, Garments for Good, wedding or third-party branded merchandise. In-store discounts automatically taken at the register. To redeem online, enter code SPECIALSALE in the promo code box at checkout. Limit one promotional code per order. Offers valid in the U.S. and Canada only. Terms of offers are subject to change. Final sale items cannot be returned or exchanged.
Nice offer for J.Crew credit card holders!

Will you be taking advantage of this promotion at J.Crew? What item are you hoping to pick up? Please share!

  1. Hi Alexis! The email stated "for 72 hours" - sorry I did not specify in my comment!

  2. I kinda got excited when I got that email, thinking cardholders could get 20% off the already 40% off final sale, but it's only 20% off full price items.

    1. It's not just for cardholders. I live in Canada, don't have a card, got the same email and just made a purchase. And it was off an item already on sale.

  3. Only 20%? They should've made it 25%. I know it's better than nothing, but still....

    1. At least I was able to get a couple full price purchases from a few days ago adjusted, by honoring this promo.

  4. 20%? This stuff will be marked down with an additional 30-40% by the next rollout. I guess it's cheaper to try before they go to FS.

  5. Its Jan. 20% ...I won't even bother.

    1. Thanks for the heads up! I wait for that sale all year -- it's the best!

  8. I got the Collection Cashmere Chunky Turtleneck sweater in gray for less than $170 and it's seriously one of the best cashmere turtlenecks I've ever bought (FYI do NOT size down even though it says "relaxed fit").

So I'm really tempted to get another in Espresso...but 20% off FP is still way too much, especially when I know it is possible to get it for cheaper if I'm just patient.

  9. Thanks to Gigi I am now the owner of the sequin stripe shirt in white and blue. Only $17.50, such a great discount. Not an every day shirt for me since I'm a stay at home mom, but fun for when I do get out of the house.

  10. I was able to order a petite chateau parka that just popped back up in my size with the 20% off! I hope it ships.

  11. Sorry to be OT ... am I the last one to hear that Banana Republic is showing men's and women's collection at New York Fashion Week next month?

  13. Like Sunny said above, this promo is not just for cardholders. The 20% worked for me on a mock check out with the code 'special sale' and I am not a cardholder. Not that their is anything I want to buy right now.

    1. Well I think that J Crew has totally sunk to a new low with a promo. I got the same email, except it said it was for cardholders only, but my code was 'cardsonly' and had to enter my J Crew card first before it would apply. So that is the bonus of being a card holder, you get a difference code to use but the same percentage off. Pretty weak, J Crew!!!

    2. Yup, "specialsale" just worked for me too.

  14. Can anyone comment on the Downing Tote? It's not on sale now, but I caught it on a sale recently and can't decide if it's going to look terrible when it gets some weight in it. I wouldn't carry anything really heavy, but I put a pair of Vans sneakers in it just to see what it would do and the bottom bagged down a bit. I didn't like the look when it did that. If you have the Downing tote, what did you think about this?

I also caught the Perforated Downing tote on sale after I ordered the regular one and ordered it too, but it hasn't come yet. I would only keep one of them. If you have the perforated version, what do you think of it? I'm not sure which one to keep, or maybe neither one. I haven't tried Madewell's Transport tote, but I think it would probably have the same issue. Thanks for any info!

    1. I would like to know as well...I own the grey one when it was on promo last December + 40%..and got a good deal for $95+ w/ tax. I'm thinking for that price, I would like to keep it regardless of the flaws.

You made a point about it sagging at the bottom...I wonder if I'll mind or not.

    2. JSR, I was looking around and found these bag shapers from Container Store. I wonder if they work? I hate to spend any more money on the bag though, and I don't want to add weight either. Still, the quilted seems like a good idea for a thin-ish leather bag like this.

    3. Cate, thanks for letting me know about the bag shapers...it would be a great idea.

I found a Downing review. I hope this helps!

    4. I have mine since september and wear it to work.It held up vwry nice and there is no major sagging at the bottom.....and i often carry extra shoes or lots of stuff.

    5. Thanks JSR! I just also found Gigi's reviews and a JCA poll post (that we both replied in, ha) from last year asking if people liked the Downing or the Transport. I paid $108 for the Downing and $77 for the Perforated Downing, so the Transport at $168+ isn't in the running for me because of price.

  15. Anthropologie is having a 40% off sale and the pop backs are many. I managed to pick up a couple of items that were sold out a few days ago that have since popped back in my wish list. That's where my money went :-)

  16. Just thought if anyone is interested, I have a chunky cashmere turtleneck in espresso size S that I bought with the last 40% sale that I will sell for the price I paid $176.81 plus postage, otherwise I'll be returning it this week (I also bought the XS). I found the fit to be just as shown on the model, tts to slightly large. bj_locke at hotmail.com

  17. The lightweight puffer jacket is still not marked down. I am still amazed it started at $188, and that it's not marked down at all yet in mid-January. I like the idea of this jacket but I'm not paying $188 for a jacket that is worth about $50. I got impatient and ordered a similar one from North Face for a lot less money.

I tried a few things on in the store. The ankle zip cargo pants are kind of cute, but still at full price too so I didn't buy them. They're a lot like a pair I got at J. Crew last year, so I really shouldn't anyway. I may be tempted if they're on sale some day. I thought they'd be uncomfortably stiff based on touching them another day in the store, but they were fine when I tried them on. TTS.

I tried on a merino pullover sweater that I thought was a Tippi, but I guess it must have been the Tilly or something else because it was too short for me.

The pinstripe pant in Japanese wool is very slim-fitting. They felt like leggings on me, in my regular size and even in a size up. They were very comfortable, felt like PJs or sweatpants. It wasn't a good look on me, but they're cute and they looked great on Ema (instagram - love your reviews Ema!!).

Colorblock jaspe wool top was a mess on me. Too much going on in the design and a strange shape.

I didn't buy anything, but I'm excited to see what the next rollout will bring.

  18. OT, but does anyone have sizing advice for Brooks Brothers shoes? TTS? Comparable to J Crew?

They are offering up to 70% off accessories this weekend, and I'm eyeing the calfskin pointed ballet flats in royal blue or purple, which seem like a steal at $50.40.

  19. I don't have these shoes but I have a pair of shoes and some boots from Brooks Brothers. In both cases they ran large. For reference my most common size is 6.5. In J Crew Martinas I wear a 7. In BB both items I have I wore a 6 which is definitely my smaller size in my normal 6 - 6.5. I hope this recommendation applies to these as well.

  20. Where is everyone ? are we that bored with J Crew ? all the regular boggers are not even doing reviews...I sure hope J Crew blows us out of the water this spring.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Just to repeat from an earlier post...the direction on the right side stating "SPECIALSALE" is for cardholders only is incorrect.....you do not have to be a cardholder to use that code successfully. I am not a cardholder, was emailed that promo by Jcrew and had no issues using it.
