Take an Additional 40% Off Wear Now Styles at J.Crew

"Thanks!" to many of you, who let us know about the following promotion.

J.Crew is offering customers to take an extra 40% off select wear now styles, as well as an additional 40% off sale items with promo code SALENEWS. The offer expires January 12, 2015. The fine print includes:
*Offer valid on full-price items marked "40% off with code SALENEWS" at jcrew.com from January 8, 2015, 12:01am ET through January 12, 2015, 11:59pm ET. Offer not valid in J.Crew or J.Crew Factory stores, at jcrewfactory.com or on phone orders. Offer cannot be applied to previous purchases and cannot be redeemed for cash or used in combination with any other offer. To redeem, enter code SALENEWS in the promo code box at checkout. Limit one promotional code per order. Offer valid in the U.S. and Canada only. Terms of offer are subject to change.
This is actually a really good promotion for full priced merchandise (that are included in the offer). However, I kind of feel shopped out... How about you?

Also, I am so not happy to see that Final in the Final Sale is back. I mean, I am not surprised to see it. This is usually the time of year when it returns. Just not happy it is back. Sigh.

Will you be taking advantage of this promotion at J.Crew? What item are you hoping to pick up? Please share!

  1. The 40% off promo extends to the control top tights, which I have always found to be very good and long-lasting. $15.90 is a solid price, and the tights are available in black and navy in all sizes.

    1. I'm confused... Is this deal good in stores, or not?

      The print ad says:
"Use code SALENEWS. In stores & online"

... but then the fine print says:
"Offer not valid in J.Crew or J.Crew Factory stores..."

      :-/

  2. I bit on a few things yesterday, before final sale. There were a couple of non-Tippi basic sweaters I was interested in plus a pair of jeans. Hopefully something works out. Glad I ordered before FS returned.

  3. Used this promo and purchased two cashmere beanies in grey and red, going to decide which to keep when i see it. Also ordered the tissue turtle neck in navy/white. I'm glad these are 40%!

Also bit yesterday on the Collection parka in cranberry. So happy that the price dropped, so I was able to buy it at $89.99! So glad I got this before FS.

  4. bought some much-needed basics last night that had been sitting in my wishlist for awhile. feels good to be on west coast time because the old prices could be used with the new promo. for example, the downing tote was $159 instead of full price like it is now.

  5. I received the collection calf hair oxford shoes and they are beautiful! I sized down a half-down as suggested by Rynetta and doodle daschund and they fit great. I think my regular size would have worked too (especially if you plan to wear socks). They are sold out online but pop back almost every morning. They are also marked down to $79.99 before the 40%. I ordered mine from the Short Hills, NJ store and at the time they had a few pair left.

    2. I just picked up a pair $79.99 with 50% off and my student discount! Totally worth it if you can find a pair!

    3. Glad I could help you out on the shoes. Got mine the other day and love mine. I agree about the sizing could go either way. I couldn't figure out why a store would have several of these shoes left at such a low price until I got mine. The box was still marked $249.99 not $109.99, so I think people thought they were still too expensive since they did not reflect the latest mark down. The $79.99 plus all those discounts is phenomenal!!!! Congrats.

    4. If anyone has a lead on these in size 8.5 or 9, I would really appreciate a tip at fdfoster @comcast.net . I called several stores with no luck. Great deal, ladies!

    5. Doodle Daschund, mine were marked $249.99 too. But the weird thing is when I asked them how they looked (I didn't want to buy ones that looked shop worn or raggedy) the sales associate said "oh, these have been in the back and they're still wrapped in plastic".

    6. My VPS found them for me. @Wendy-the 8.5 pops back almost every morning, so I would check in then. Mine came last week and I've already received so many compliments on them. The shoes are a bit long but still fits just right. Great shoes and I'm so glad I got them!

    7. Saw these last week but didn't check out fast enough. Hoping to locate a size 7 or 7.5. Please put on hold for Candece D. if found. Thanks a bunch.

  6. I feel like after offering 40% off sale for so long, they should have increased to 50% if going to add the word FINAL. And maybe free ship on sale items. Those things are never going away!

    1. Agreed. If people weren't willing to buy when it was not FS why would they now unless there's a deeper discount or more incentive?

    2. Also agree, they only thing I might do is re-buy some things that have lowered in price and I already know I like and fit.

  7. JC is a little stressed out right now. I just got a phone call saying that one item I ordered had sold out and wasn't available. Then I got an email saying that another item was sold out. Wonder why they are using both methods? Weird.

  8. I stopped by at my b&m store earlier today for another return (collection pants in noir floral) and sale items had an additional 50% off. I ended up picking a pair of black reid pants and the mixed charms assymetrical necklace ($25 and $30 respectively). No sign of FS on my receipt.

  9. After debating for months I broke down and bought the chunky cashmere turtleneck in espresso. Went with the xxs for a fitted look, the xs is more relaxed (I went to my store and luckily they had one left in the espresso). This is their best sweater since the cashmere cable in 2010 IMO and I was regretting not getting it during the 30% off. It puts their regular cashmere turtleneck to shame (it's that good).

    1. Yes, this was one of their few winners for 2014. I bought it in the grey at 30% off which I felt was reasonable for a more heavy weight cashmere (though I certainly do not think it is worth full price - nothing is at Jcrew anymore). Their regular weight cashmere needs work.

    2. While I have been "trained" to wait for a promo or a sale, I do think that this one would be have been a candidate for a full price or much lower promo in the past. Compared to other brands it isn't that expensive for this kind of cashmere (in fact it is much less expensive that it would be, say, at RL or Theory). While their regular cashmere can be found at other retailers, it is difficult to find heavy weight cashmere in this price range.

  10. OT: I did a comparison of the Tippi and the Tilly Sweaters in this post I hope that J. Crew is not considering eliminating the Tippi. HTH!

  11. Puzzled that women's shorts seem to be opening at Final Sale prices. Unless, of course, they're from last summer?

    1. I asked that same question instore yesterday and the SA acted like they never had a January catalog. Something along the lines of "well no one shops in January anyway. Just returns ". Who do they think they are fooling???? I got a little offended as I was returning about $375 in online orders.

    2. Maybe next Wednesday's roll-out? I remember the one from last year, it was super thin.

    3. When I asked about the January catalog in store, no one had an answer for me. It was always nice in years past to get the "resort" catalog when things are so cold, gray and ugly here.
