So silly, I bought the double stripe shirt today - because I just don't have enough stripe shirts. Sucked in by the cotton and the cheap price.
ReplyDeleteI ordered the buffalo check excursion vest since it finally went on sale. I bought the factory version that was more of a gingham check in black and red with the double zipper but I think they are quite different enough (or at least that is what I am telling myself) to keep both. I ordered through a store and got it for 50% off instead of 40% off so that helped. If anyone wants to weigh in with an opinion on either vest, styling suggestions, etc. feel free.

DeleteI should've ordered that excursion vest last night, and have the price adjusted today.
DeleteI usually wake up early to check the sales online...but I overslept. By the time I woke up (pacific standard time), it had already sold out in xs.
I am sorry to hear that. I would almost bet that some sizes will pop back. When I got up this morning about 6:30am EST, all sizes but M were available. Just a couple hours later, all that was left was L and XL I think. I really hadn't been checking the website early in the morning anymore but glad I did today. Also, when I stopped by the retail store yesterday evening to return the Harper glitter mermaid flats, they were marking down. There were only 3 items on the in store mark down list. I think they were all the Hugo Guinness little gift items. Left empty handed.
DeleteI'm really sad I missed this. If someone sees or returns this in XXS please let me know!!!
DeleteThe short puffer jacket finally got marked down $10 (and then you can take 40% off of that). Too late for me, but maybe someone else has been watching it.
ReplyDeleteFYI - Feb '15 Style Guide on Pinterest is created, but no pictures have been uploaded yet. Watch out for it this weekend!
ReplyDeletedoes anyone have input about the sizing of the DOUBLE-CLOTH PATCH-POCKET COCOON COAT, item b5348? I normally wear a size 10 at j.crew but a size 12 in outerwear, yet most of the reviews online rant about how oversized this jacket is, and of course none of the stores near me have any I can try on. if anyone can weigh in about whether one should go down a size in this coat, I would really appreciate it. I'm trying to grab the coastal green or the neon papaya, and they keep popping back in and out of stock, and final sale is making me weary. help, thanks!
ReplyDelete@Roxana I have the coat in the dark camel color I posted photos on my Instagram last week, my user name is fablifeforever. Let me know if you're on IG and I can tag you in the pics so you don't have to page through my account. I'm usually a 12 in outerwear and I sized down to a 10 in this coat and I still have some room, probably not enough to have gone down a second size though. To compare, in the regular cocoon coat I can't zip the 10 over my hips, in the patch pocket I can fully zip the coat. HTH!
Deletethank you SO MUCH, anne! you look amazing in the coat; the dark camel is so pretty. I did end up calling j. crew and ordering what may be the last size 12 in coastal green that they have, so I suppose it will end up being large on me, but I guess that means more room for layering! hoping it ships ... the woman who placed the order for me said they were seeing one left in the whole country. crossing my fingers, and thanks for your input!
DeleteRoxana, so glad to help out, I really hope it works out for you, the green is such a beautiful color!! The coat is nice and warm too!
DeleteAfter a light JC spending period this winter, I recently purchased a bunch of stuff. The standout is the collection ribbed cashmere scarf (item b5132) -- this is the more expensive scarf, not to be confused with the collection cashmere ribbed scarf (item b5252). I ordered both. The first comes only in the basic colors of snow, navy and nickel -- I ordered snow and navy. The second comes in a full range of lovely JC colors -- I ordered periwinkle and heather orchid. I am keeping the two ribbed cashmere scarfs and returning the cashmere ribbed scarves. (Please better naming next time JC!) The former are fabulous. They are so thick and soft and unbelievable, so totally worth the $188 less 40%. The latter are very pretty colors but much thinner, more airy. They are still worth the $128 less 40%, and if I didn't have the two different items to compare, I would probably love them, but having them side by side, the latter just cannot compare, even with the prettier colors. I definitely highly recommend this first scarf, something that I have heard often on this website lately!
ReplyDeleteThe naming of those scarves is way too confusing!!!!
DeleteThis is the kind of stuff that makes me realize that nobody is paying any attention to design or inventory at this company. WHY would there be two of these scarves designed and introduced in the same season? It's so bizarre to me.
DeleteAudreyS, are you returning to a store? I'm looking for the periwinkle scarf, thanks!!
DeleteBindi, I returned on thurs to the tysons galleria jc in va... Hope if is still there for you!
DeleteIf anyone is interested, the Harris Tweed topcoat (b2806) is on sale; today is the first time I have noticed it. I did purchase, as it is not final sale and a great price (now $240 after discount, down from an original $500) and I have a couple of the Harris Tweed JC jackets from years past and know they are great quality.
ReplyDeleteA note on "oversize fit" - If you're skeptical about purchasing something that is labeled "oversize fit", and can't get to a brick and mortar store to try something on for sizing, contact online chat! I expressed my concerns about the oversize fit for item #B6474 (regular wool melton peacoat) since I've been having problems getting the right fit with the oversize items since I don't necessarily want them oversized on me! I told the chat specialist that I'm usually a 10-12 in button downs, but recently fit a 8 petite in item #A8911 (petite wool melton duffle coat) which fit perfect and asked for a size suggestion for the regular wool melton coat, and wow am I glad I did! The specialist compared the measurements to the sizing of each coat by size and then suggested I get a size 6 to accommodate the "oversize" fit, and also waived the final sale on my order in case I needed to return or exchange the item due to sizing. Though I'm hoping I don't need to either, this coat is a steal at $50 with the extra 50% off from $300!
ReplyDeleteJC CS is the best :) they're really good about waiving final sale for instances like this
DeleteOkay you've totally convinced me to bit on the wool Melton peacoat.I've been eyeing and decides okay it's fifty dollars, deals like this don't happen( wish I could have scored a navy field jacket as well). I ordered a 4 tall in navy ( I typically wear a 6 tall in coats but went with the 4 tall due to it's oversize fit). I still can't believe the coat is 50 dollars, that's totally insane for a coat, especially a jcrew peacoat. I hope that it fits well but for 50 dollars I won't be too upset if it isn't a perfect fit.
DeleteAlso stocked up on super opaque tights, they are $ 9.90 after 40% discount, and picked up the navy open shawl cardigan it was ~ $ 47 after the 40% discount ( I have it in black and htr ash and love love love it). Well that's it for me.
DeleteThanks for this update- I called my store and had some tights put on hold. I picked them up right after work. I love the J Crew tights!
DeleteBirdie - if you can get your hands on a downtown field jacket, do it! I purchased mine in navy and black size medium in the fall when they were $120 plus 40% off (though I know they took it out of the sale for a while). Its lightweight and great for layering and I love the goldtone hardware. I've worn it countless times given the "mild" winter we've had in the Pacific Northwest. Goes great with one of their side zipped sweatshirts! Also my melton peacoat shipped yesterday, can't wait to receive it!
DeleteJust missed out on the sleeveless drapey top in cove floral as I was checking out. Snatched right from my cart. Le sigh. I did walk away with the long belted puffer coat in black M though, so not all was lost.
ReplyDeleteIf anyone is looking to unload the cove floral top in a 4 or 6, let me know!
