Sought & Found: Did you visit J.Crew this {past} Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopped by a J.Crew store this past weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store was/ is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

  1. I did visit the clearance center in Arden. I did pick up the open shawl-collar cardigan in 3 colors, they were only $19.00 each and they seem like they will be very versatile and comfy. I got black, navy and burgandy. I also got two pairs of harper flats, $25.00 each, the black patent and the gold crackle. I also picked up a pair of the tailored wool pants in electric red. I really liked the fit even though they have elastic waist. They are very comfortable and dare I say flattering. They run TTS to a little big for anyone interested. I took the smaller of my two usual sizes. Nothing at the retail store for me, didn't even bother stopping by.

  2. Local stores were offering 50% off sale items. I saw many downtown field jackets at the Robson store for $127.99 minus 50%.

    2. Wonder if I could find the downtown field jacket in the U.S. for that price? Anyone see it at their stores? I think it's still FP online. Hm.

    4. I was also in the Vancouver store...I have been happy to see our instore prices reflect a bargain for once....usually we are 30% more plus higher tax.
I think with our low dollar J Crew is going to have to give us a few price cuts...

    5. The Can. $ is 83 cents and could lose another 5cents. Man we do need a price cut up here for sure. I hope with new arrival we are given better pricing.

    6. I went to a store yesterday in SF and it was definitely FP.

  3. I was out of town in Whitehall, PA. The store was so devoid of merchandise, it looked like it was going out of business. The men's section still had plenty of full price items, including things from from September. My local stores didn't look that much better. Isn't this historically when stores would receive consolidation? And does it strike anyone else that JCrew does not seems to sell shoes anymore? That is a shame in my book, because I felt that their Italian made leather goods were worth the price and had the unique design characteristics that I couldn't find elsewhere. I can find Nike everywhere.

    1. I think shoes are either going to be online only....or gone completely.

    2. I don't understand this continued expansion of 3rd brand items. A few items were fine, but now that has mushroomed. It seems to me that Jenna and company receive a very generous salary for designing clothes, so why the ever expanding presence of outside designers? Isn't their in house design team competent? If not, chuck them.

Reminds of the scene in Elf when the 2 in-house writers hire an uber expensive celebrity writer to pull them out of the financial disaster the publisher is in. Their boss remarks that isn't it their paid job to write books? Why hire the outside contractor?

    1. Beautiful! I love that color! I think the coats look and wear better in real life. I have one in dark bone and it just looks so much nicer than on the website

  5. Went to Stonestown in SF and the storw was doing 50% off final sale, as well as other miscellaneous sales that I didn't memorize. Nothing in the sale rack or sales signs appealed to me.

I just wanted a thicker winter jacket and saw a lot of winter coats that were lovely (really impressed by the Chateau parka in black) but only large sizes were left. Ended up ordering the belted puffer in ivory through a SA and she was sweet enough to apply to 50% off and make sure it wasn't final sale since I wasn't able to try anything in my size in-store.

    1. I too have been impressed lately with excellent customer service!

    2. JC CS is the best. The SA offered the 50% off and waived shipping and all that without me even asking! And every time I ask for a price adjustment (that's reasonable) it's been granted.

Recently I've been shopping a lot more at Madewell but I have noticed their SA's stick to the fine print of promos and discounts way more than JC SA's and they are a lot less willing to do PA's (and when they do it's usually accompanied with "For this one time only...").

  6. I've been meaning to post since last week, when the first big Spring rollout happened at the concept store. Technically, I didn't visit over the weekend, but after seeing the new items, color me...cautiously optimistic?
It's been a long time, but there were actually items there that were bright and cheerful! Not a lot of patterns, but there are two very similar florals (in fact, I think the colors are just reversed). I bought an Indian Voile Sleeveless Primrose Popover, which was a cream/white background with a navy/black/red bold floral pattern. It had small blue sequin embellisments scattered all over. I also bought an infinity scarf with basically the same pattern, although it's referred to as "festive floral" on the receipt. Then in the reverse, with a red background, there were very cute pants (maybe Turner or Harlow?) and also a top.
There's also a new style of pant called Ryder ($98). It's supposed to be full-length, but I'm tall and it fit just like the Minnie in Tall. However, it runs SUPER small (I take a 4 in Minnie and ended up buying the 8 (!!). Front zip and a nice, heavier weight fabric - similar to the Minnie but maybe a bit heavier, and it didn't feel like it was going to stretch out the same way. I think the rise is higher, which is supposed to accommodate the shorter lengths that sweaters, etc. are being cut in. There were several colors, and I bought teal, which was lovely.
There was a cute navy and white l/s striped cotton shirt with a navy stripe running down the length of the sleeves. Cute, and similar to things we've all seen in years past, but maybe that's a good thing? In the window, this was paired with a paired with the floral with red background pants.
There was also an adorable pleated skirt (either black or pale pink) that had tiny diamond laser cutouts all over. Really nice, and they were pairing the pale pink one with the metallic rose sweater that someone mentioned in another post.
The Primrose sleeveless popover shirt that I bought was paired with a pair of new khaki pants. They look infinitely better than the ones with the ribbing at the ankle, and according to the VPS, fit great. I saw two different colors of green.
Jewelry-wise, there were a few new items, most importantly some silver. There was a cute pair of drop earrings with a shiny (maybe too shiny?) triangle and a jewel below (or maybe the other way around?). There was also a beautiful silver necklace, called "Twisted Cane," heavy with jewel tone stones all the way around. Very nice with the teal pants!
There were many other items, but my brain couldn't retain all of that information. I'm going back tomorrow with friends, so maybe there will be more to report on.
All in all, though, it was really great to see some INTERESTING and FUN pieces. It's been a long time since I felt compelled to try anything on!
(I'm sorry this is a long rambling post, but I'm excited!)

  7. One more thing! I also stopped in to Madewell and they were doing their roll out, as well. Such cute things there, as well! Love the new blue/white floralstamp pattern that's already on the website, but there were lots of newer items, as well. I remember a really cute khaki jacket (with maybe a belt?). I'll go back tomorrow. Maybe I should take ginkgo biloba beforehand!!!

  8. Gina, thanks for all of the information re: the new rollout. I'm excited to see the new spring merchandise and (hopefully!) a catalog. Silver jewelry, imagine that! :)
