It's Back! Extra 40-50% Off Final Sale at J.Crew

"Thanks!" to  many of you, including chercherry (in this post), who shared the following email & promotion from J.Crew.

J.Crew is offering 40-50% off Final Sale with promotional code YAYSALE. This offer expires tomorrow, March 6, 2014. The fine print includes:
*Offer valid on the purchase of final sale items in J.Crew stores and at jcrew.com from March 5, 2014, 12:01am ET through March 6, 2014, 11:59pm ET. Offer not valid in Liquor Store or Ludlow Shops; in 769 Madison Avenue, Bloor Street or J.Crew Factory stores; at jcrewfactory.com; or on phone orders. Offer cannot be applied to previous purchases and cannot be redeemed for cash or used in combination with any other offer. In-store discount automatically taken at the register. To redeem online, enter code YAYSALE in the promo code box at checkout. Limit one promotional code per order. Offer valid in the U.S. and Canada only. Terms of offer are subject to change. Final sale items cannot be returned or exchanged.
J.Crew has a nice update to their Sale (click here to shop online) section online this morning. Lots of merchandise (1870+ for Women and 855+ for Men). As one would expect, things are selling out.

J.Crew thankfully realized AGAIN that the only way to move this merchandise is with an additional percent off. Especially after the last 20% off for cardmembers, no one was buying that much without a promo.

With all that said, why is this promo for just two days?! Why is it only 40% off?! Make it 50% off and leave it up until the numbers dwindle down to the few hundreds. Especially with all the new markdowns, J.Crew has to make some room.

Will you be taking advantage of this promotion? If so, please share!

  1. Glad to have the sale back, but it's so crazy, isn't it?? The grecian dress that you just reviewed last week as a new arrival is ALREADY on sale -- in one week the price has jumped from its original $98 to $47. Going back to earlier comments about snippy SA to "sale shoppers" -- with JC prices fluctuating as quickly and often as they do, we'd have to be stupid not to be!

    1. It really is crazy how many new arrivals are *already* marked down.

As for that totally snippy comment about "sale shoppers" (which I remember reading), you are right, one would be stupid not to save money. :) Especially when it means waiting such a short time!

      Delete
    2. What was the comment about sale shoppers? Kind of dumb for SAs to thumb their noses at sale shoppers, considering that they get an employee discount on whatever they buy, and presumably, on a retail associate salary, can't afford to go on full price shopping sprees elsewhere.

      Delete
    3. I can't believe they made such rude comments! I would have complained to their manager. The SAs at my local B&M's at least feign enthusiasm when I score a good deal on stuff and are always willing to honor the lower of any price discrepancies and/or stacking of discounts.

      Delete
    4. My PS at my local store is as big of a sale shopper as I am. She will hold stuff that I like when they go on sale and text me . I know the manager probably dislikes my refusal to pay retail price and I don't know about the other rotating SA's but I really don't care. It's smart shopping and it's my paper.

  2. Sorry, posting twice. Has anyone tried on or purchased the merino trellis sweater, a1883? It says relaxed fit, so not sure if I should go with my regular size or not. At $30, it does look interesting, in between a sweatshirt and a sweater. TIA

    1. I noticed it too JRS. It is the same gauge as a Tippi. There are some different pics on Lyst if you google it and search the images. It looks a little more oversize than a Tippi but I don't think it seems so big to size down. I have sent an email right after placing an order noting the order number and asked customer service to mark an item returnable if it is online only and final sale. They have always allowed it. That sweater does look really cute for that price!

  3. It's about time! They needed to move that sale inventory. I got the suede Martinas in Strawberry, the crystal noveau necklace, and soft rosewood skirt more as a ride along to get free UPS shipping. I have been eyeing that skirt so if it's a true love I may keep it but I don't really need it.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Telegraph skirts are on sale in suiting colors! I cannot recommend these enough. Best-fitting pencil skirt ever (on me), and they've never been discounted as much as right now.
Baffled that the suede Emma flats, barely introduced, now sell for $58, less than half the sticker. I ordered a pair of black ones. I've never tried the Emmas but they seem returnable & black suede flats are the best :-)
For those of us who like cozy, long-sleeved, no-fuss merino sweaters, more substantial than the Tippis, I'll recommend the stripe-sleeve (A2803) and the wool bomber jacket (09008). Love those. Both are currently Final Sale, unfortunately. The stripe-sleeve seems unloved, judging by the sad bunch I recently saw being ruined on hangers (no! no!!) in a store, but it really is a sporty-chic piece, and very comfy.

    1. Hey! Can you comment on if the lighter colored stripe-sleeve merino sweater is somewhat seethrough? I tried on the side-panel merino sweaters and the lighter colors definitely were. TIA!

      Delete
    2. I bought the "sandstone dusk" colorway and it's not see-through at all. The stripe-sleeve sweater is a thicker knit (12-gauge) than most other J Crew merino sweaters (typically 14-gauge), so I would guess the lilac would be fine, too. Hope this helps!

      Delete
    3. I bought the lilac color in store last weekend and love it. Heavier gauge as mentioned than the Tippi but it is perfect without anything underneath. Full length sleeves, I did size down from my usual S in a Tippi to an XS but there was not a S to try on so don't know if there would have been a huge difference.

  5. Two orders this morning!
I re-bought the featherweight cotton v-neck cardigans since they went down in price by more than $15! Re-ordered the smartphone leather gloves since they epically messed up the order that I previously placed for them. Fingers crossed that I receive the right colors this time.
And since they are not final sale, I am trying out the featherweight cashmere henley, featherweight cashmere long-sleeve tee, Stationary clutch, Emma leather ballet flats and Audrey ballet flats.
Also scored the Cece leather ballet flats in Dazzling sun (finally!) and some incredibly random pop-backs like the polka-dot Lana top and the merino rose corsage cardigan.
    I'm done! I swear I'm done!

    3. Haha Shopping Celle. I do feel bad sometimes when he is laden with brown boxes but he's pretty cool about it. Plus my last few orders have been broken up with some stuff coming from B&M stores. I'll probably end up getting a million packages for these two orders. Wait, that might actually seem worse. lol.

  6. I was up before 5 am ET this morning (it NEVER happens) and the popbacks were crazy but I resisted and only bought what was on my sale watchlist (namely the deco shell tank suit for my upcoming vacay in Hawaii). Happy shopping!

  7. Flowerbud popover (a2205) from the last rollout is now $59.99 plus the 40% off. Just bought this last week with the promo of 25% off button-down shirts plus the cardholder discount of an additional 20% off. This came to $52.80. I haven't taken the tags off yet, and now it's $59.99 plus 40% off. Incredible!

    ReplyDelete
  8. And of course the no-minimum free shipping has now been taken away. If I have to suffer through 30+ tedious pages of sale items, the least the could have done is keep the no-min. free shipping. I seriously couldn't come up with $150 worth of J Crew I want right now!

  9. I picked up the triple-stripe elbow patch merino sweater this morning for 50%! I've been waiting for it to go on sale and it's a perfect "applying to grad school" treat =)

  10. You may find that taxes before checkout are way too high, even after applying the promo code (new website bug? it's always been like this and I never realized it before?). I was pleasantly surprised, though, that taxes were properly calculated at checkout. A grey schoolboy for $86.04! Yay!

  11. Purchased 7 items just now - 3 for me and 4 for the bambini. 6 are final sale, including one item that is a risk. Prices are more than palatable.

Have to say - I don't understand the strategy of keeping kids jeans at $60+ (sale!) and then marking them down to $14.99. It was clear that the jeans were not moving at the high price point, but even I would have purchased at $25 or so. Strange.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I wish they had free shipping no min! I want to get a Tippi but don't want to add 25% of the price in shipping. I'm almost tempted to buy $150 worth to return most of it in store just to get free shipping.

  13. The extra percentage off is awesome and all, but it still astounds me that they haven't dropped the prices on many of the sweaters -- they've been at the same markdown for a LONG time now. If they didn't move during the last 85 percentage-off promos at those prices, what's going to be different now? Meh.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Sucked it up and bought another schoolboy blazer in petite. Love them! Quality is so different between them and the factory blazers.

  15. They pulled all of the featherweight cashmere cardigans except for navy! I was pondering colour selection this morning and then I just checked now and they yanked the warm redwood from my cart! I am so upset. J. Crew makes it so hard to shop with all the pricing games, crazy inventory and pulling stuff from the website.

    1. ...And all the featherweight cashmere cardigans are back in all sizes and colours, at full price. I guess they made a mistake yesterday when they had them on promo for $168 with additional 50% with the coupon code (bringing the down to $84). Damn, I should have just ordered them when I spotted them at 7 a.m. yesterday, instead of dithering over colours.

  20. Slightly OT...I've been looking at the swim rash guards that are on sale for an upcoming vacation - I'm concerned that the long sleeve ones could prove to be too warm - but trying to be sensitive of my fair skin if we're going to be snorkeling, etc. Does anyone have any experience with these - speak to if they're comfortable and "cool" in the warmer temps? I'd rather slather on sunscreen if I'm going to be stifling in a long sleeve top.

    TIA!

    1. I wear rash guards frequently during the summer and I'd say it all depends on what you'll be doing. I can wear them comfortably if I'm submerged in water like at a water park but I have to take it off if I'm at the beach but not under an umbrella. I did take it off while vacationing in Australia and got sunburned. I also noticed the design on the rash guard gets tanned on to my skin after a long day.

    2. Not sure, but I got the Women's Adjustable Swim Cover-up Tunic (Item #437997-AH1) from Lands End recently and it seems like it's going to be cooler than a long-sleeve tighter fitting rash guard.

    3. I agree that it all depends on what you'll be doing. I have the white long sleeve rash guard and have worn it at a theme park, at the beach, and at the pool. It wasn't uncomfortable.

  23. I was compiling my checkout bag all week waiting for a promo like this so that I could just click a button to get the order through. Unfortunately the waffle stitch infinity scarf in my bag sold out before I could complete the purchase :( I'm in love with those scarves and they're such a steal at only $27.

Got the chambray shorts, audrey ballet flats, and the RMS beauty living luminizer, which is backordered until mid-April. None of these were final sale so I was super happy with this promo.

Although the new website layout makes it harder to shop for sales and popbacks, it's definitely helping me purchase only things I've been stalking on my wishlist.

  43. On a whim I purchased the Collection jacket in Nightgarden Floral. I'm an 8/10, size medium in J Crew tops, and I'm *really* worried this will be too small. It already looks shrunken on the skinny model. I don't usually do returns but I might have to if this doesn't look right on me. Does anyone own this jacket? How does it fit? I suspect a few people don't like this particular jacket with its mix of prints and bedazzling, but that's exactly why I like it! This might be a stretch but the cut and blinginess reminds me of Madonna's "Jimi Hendrix" jacket from Desperately Seeking Susan.
