It's Back {again}! Extra 40-50% Off Final Sale at J.Crew

"Thanks!" to  many of you, including YoungJJ (in this post), who shared the following email & promotion from J.Crew.

J.Crew is offering 40-50% off Final Sale with promotional code EXTRA40. This offer expires tomorrow, March 18, 2014. The fine print includes:
*Offer valid on the purchase of final sale items at jcrew.com from March 17, 2014, 12:01am ET through March 18, 2014, 11:59pm ET. Offer not valid in J.Crew or J.Crew Factory stores, at jcrewfactory.com or on phone orders. Offer cannot be applied to previous purchases or the purchase of gift cards and cannot be redeemed for cash or used in combination with any other offer. To redeem, enter code EXTRA40 in the promo code box at checkout. Limit one promotional code per order. Offer valid in the U.S. and Canada only. Terms of offer are subject to change. Final sale items cannot be returned or exchanged.
J.Crew has a nice update to their Sale (click here to shop online) section online this morning. Lots of merchandise (1650+ for Women and 700+ for Men). There were over 1850+ items for women last night. As one would expect, things are selling out.

I am thrilled to see this promotion back. Especially since brick & mortar stores started offering the same promotion over the weekend. I am just confused as to why it is only for two days. I have said this before and I will say it again: just keep this promotion until the sale section dwindles down to a few hundred items. There is too much merchandise just sitting around final sale.

Will you be taking advantage of this promotion? If so, please share!

  1. Sale again? Honestly dont know what to buy. Got everything i need. Kinda a bummer the striped necklace shell is $10 cheaper, but i dont know what else to buy to get free shipping. Got my nili lotan alpaca sweater at the cheapest price, i think! $168 after 40 off, so there... Pretty soft, but sheds a bit.

  2. I don't know why but the metallic leather skirt doesn't look bad at all with that black top on the model...if only the price was human!

  3. Nice promo, but still not getting past page two or three of the sale section because of their web site change a couple of weeks ago. I get bored paging through and do something else instead. I thought I might get used to the change and keep buying from sale, but to my surprise this seems to be a permanent change in my buying habits. J. Crew successfully cured me of my morning sale shopping habit. I'm not buying more full price or from Factory to compensate, I'm just buying less.

    1. Hi cate - I hear you, I stopped trying to navigate the sale section as well. Maybe when final sale goes away I'll try it again but I found it not worth the time.

    2. Same here....not worth the time...

  4. Ordered a popback indian voile popover in vintage kelly - final price $17.99! Woohoo. Trying to save myself - my son has an appointment at UVA on Friday and I plan on hitting the Lynchburg Clearance Center on the way back.

  5. As I believe Gigi mentioned in an earlier post, the promo in store (per DC F street store) is 25% off storewide (with certain 3rd party brand exclusions) and 20% off in-sale (stackable with 25% so about 44% off).

    3. Yeah, the last couple of times they've uploaded men's, then crewcuts, then women's and it takes all day. Don't sit around waiting for women's, they probably won't be up until later this evening.

If I'm really lucky, maybe my copy will be in my mailbox soon.

    5. I guess April rolls out this Wednesday? I thought it wasn't going to be released till next week--not that I am complaining.. :-P

When they load those Pinterest photos, they always start backwards of the Style Guide. Mens first, then Kids, Wedding, and Womens last. Such a tease...

    6. I agree, JSR, quite a tease. Gives a new meaning to 'snail's pace'.

    11. I picked up a catalog at my B&M tonight. Very disappointing IMHO. One of the few items I liked a pencil skirt in the same print as the Pink Geo shirt dress that was posted here last week is polyester not silk or cotton for $118.

  7. Snagged the heather natural elbow patch sweater on popback for $47 and added a monogram =)

  8. Argh. I finally bit on the linen schoolboy tipped blazer, in navy - came to $99 after promo. Hope it will be good for Spring. :)

    1. Julie Taylor - Great deal on the blazer! While you wait and if you haven't seen, check out the grey on Audreybella.

    2. I also ordered the tipped blazer -- couldn't beat the price! I'm hoping it will be a work staple in the spring....=)

  9. Alexis - I have always agreed with you about paring down the huge sale section, but have come to think that this is the "new normal". With many items from the last rollout already 60% off, I think JC plans to sell almost all of its merchandize on "discount", especially if they can get away with final sale.

I got 2 items for my kids from this sale, but that's it. The silver leather skirt is beautiful, but I'm not going to get it just yet.

    1. I think you are right about it being the new normal. Too bad they just don't keep this promo around longer.

    2. Agreed. I buy almost every time they have a 40-50% promo!

      Delete
  10. My lucky day! a different kind of score - got hefty price adjustments on 2 of last week's orders that haven't shipped yet. A daring strategy, and probably not one I'll try again.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I have considered trying that strategy since there is a certain predictability to the sale patterns and there is the occasional hunted item that pops up without a % off. So far I have convinced myself to wait. They can sometimes throw a curve ball in the sale game.

      Delete
    2. Good for you! Have fun with the found $$$.

    3. I don't want to be overconfident, the orders haven't shipped yet!

  11. I picked up the Peacoat Trench (02769) @$137.99. Found some other non-final sale items that the 40% applied to as well...also had very nice price adjustments to two prior orders including the navy pinstripe puff-sleeve blazer. St. Patrick's Day luck! :)

    1. Seems like a lot of JCAs who ordered last week, is having success with price adjustments.

I'm hoping J.Crew honors a price adjustment on order I placed just this last Friday. The Metallic triangles sweatshirt -- still on sale, and PA can be applied, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed they also honor the Metallic Callie high heel sandals -- was on promo as of last night, but is now back to FP when the 40% promo kicked in.

      Delete
    2. Okay, I just got denied the PA on the Callie high heel sandals...I thought I was going to get away with it, but back it goes. I would keep the shoes if its in deep sale, even thought its impractical for my lifestyle...but at $188, i'll pass.

      Delete
    3. JSR - If they can't see the promo price, they can't honor it. I hope they did the sweatshirt for you.

      Delete
    4. Gigi - Yeah I got the Metallic triangles sweatshirt for $30... bummed about the Callies though. Who knows if the silver Callie will even work..what ever happened was meant to be.

I'm still looking for a pair of cool silver shoes. Hopefully this coming roll-out will have some cute shoes (like Sophia Webster for J.Crew)... :)

      Delete
    5. My sister got a PA today on a sale order she placed yesterday - she said the SA told her that JC's PA policy is that adjustments are allowed on orders placed within 7 days and if no other promos were used. I guess this is new?

      Delete
    6. JSR, to gigi's point, I have a trick I use. I take a screenshot of my item on promotional price, and I email it to customer service with my request for my price adjustment. It worked for me today for two orders I had placed last week. Good luck!

  12. Thanks to insomnia, I was up in the middle of the night and actually scrolled through all of the pages of sale! I bought a pair of earrings for myself but got several Crewcuts stuff for my daughter.

  13. I bit and got the silver leather skirt (since I was allowed to return the cate dress well that about evens out...) the opera pearl necklace, a cashmere cardigan (89$$!!!!) and the tabbie color block sandals. But of course I forgot ebates was working again :( damn u ebates!

also I just got the hummingbird shorts from factory today and (again I really need to read descriptions better) the side zip caught me (and my hip fat) by surprise...but they fit really real and all pretty darn cute- going to pair with a white v neck t- a featherweight cardi- and some silver flip flops...oh I can't wait for summer :(

  14. I was at the J Crew Factory store this weekend and asked about the April catalog. SA went in the back room and got one for me. So nice because my local retail B&M closed last year and my mail is slow. Really great service at the Factory store on Saturday, too. Store was hopping - 50% off really draws people in!

  15. As mentioned by Gigi and others, I received an email from a VPS with in store promo. 25% off most items (certain exclusions such as denim, 3rd party and some others). Sales items are 20% off and they will stack the promo. Runs through 3/17 to 3/27

    1. I went to the store today and saw no signs of a promo. Did I completely miss that it was going on? Or do you have to mention the email or give a code or something to get the percent off?

      Delete
    2. The email did not have a code or mention anything about needing to show the email. I am guessing your store didn't have signage up yet. J Crew is notorious for lack of signage and sparse signage. I would definitely call and ask a manager. I find some SAs are not always fully aware of all promos esp if it's a new promo.

    3. I did stop by and bought a sale belt. It was 20% off , FS but Hagen they took 25% off that price. There were signs all over the store about 25% off your purchase. HTH

  17. It started snowing again today (for those of you who don't know, I moved to the rocky mountains last month...new blog name & google id coming soon), and it will be fairly cold here for another couple of months, so I am considering the cashmere getaway hoodie or cashmere popover hoodie, and a pair of bootcut or matchstick cords. Can anyone comment on sizing and/or quality of the items? I haven't purchased a pair of cords from J.Crew since 2009, so I'm not sure how much the sizing has changed since then. TIA for any advice/help! :)

Good luck getting settled and i cant wait for your "new" blog!

    2. Thanks Ina! I really do love it here, and have been enjoying the climate change immensely. Hoping to have my blog updated with the changes by the end of this week. :)

    3. For me, the sizing of the matchstick cords have been consistent from year to year, no change between 2009 and 2013. They are a staple for me from Oct. thru April and hold up very well. I do like to machine wash them inside out in cold water. I buy the same size as the matchstick jeans. HTH. I'm looking forward to your new blog!

      Delete
    4. Thank you maryeb! I am wearing a pair of the matchsticks today, and would like to add another pair or two to my wardrobe. I see myself wearing them from Oct. thru April from now on, too. :)

Btw, what colors of matchsticks do you have? Have you seen the dark charcoal or sunwashed sand IRL?

      Delete
    5. Congrats on your move FFM- I guess you will need a new name!

      Delete
    6. Thank you KnitYarns! Yes, a new name is in the works, too. :)

    7. The dark charcoal matchsticks are a nice color. My only complaint with the matchstick cords is there isn't any stretch. I guess that's expected in cords, but I almost always reach for denim instead. I tried on the getaway hoodie and liked it up a size from my usual. It has a long, lean fit and was snug in my regular size.

      Delete
    8. I have both colors, (wearing the dark charcoal today!) and like them very much. I think they look true to what I see on my monitor.
I especially like wearing the sand in the Spring. It makes me happy to be able to lighten up my look.
All of the other colors I have are from years past: a light gray, a medium gray, a rust , and a light turquoise.
I also have several old pairs of bootcut, but prefer the slimmer leg of the matchstick. For me, they work better with boots. I have the bootcut in the same size as the matchstick.

      Delete
    9. Thank you cate and maryeb! I have the dark charcoal pair in my cart right now, and have been considering the sand color, as well. I may need to stalk Ebay for some of the past years colors... :)

    12. JRSConifer: I absolutely love the lack of humidity! That is actually one of my favorite things about being here. Colorado is absolutely gorgeous, but I am further northwest from where you are, and not too far from the Canadian border.

  22. FFM, I have both the dark charcoal and the sunwashed sand matchstick cords. The dark charcoal looks pretty much like what you see online. IMO, the sunwashed sand is ivory; however, my monitor shows the color as a bit pinkish. I wear the matchstick cords all the time. The navy is great, too. Too bad J Crew didn't make these in black or chocolate brown because I'd be all over that!

    ReplyDelete

    1. Ditto on the black and chocolate brown matchsticks. I have the bootcut in these colors from years ago, but would really love some matchsticks.

      Delete
    2. Thank you shopalot! I'm glad to hear that the sand pair are more ivory, as they look pinkish on my monitor, too. The navy is the other color I'm contemplating. Is it a deep navy, or more washed out?

      Delete
    3. I'm pretty sure my navy Matchsticks are from the Factory store this year. They are not wishy washy in color but a real navy. Anyone have the retail navy cords to comment on color saturation?

      Delete
    4. I have a pair of toothpick cords from this past fall in navy and they are a true dark navy, like a dark blue wash on jeans. I think the matchstick color was supposed to be the same. HTH

  23. These constant promos are driving me batty! I finally decided to go for the Merino Scarf sweater when it appeared in size. It looked like it was completely sold out in most sizes for some time, so when it reappeared (*magically* in all sizes, hmmm) I decided to go for it at the $89 sale price. Now one day later it's on sale for 40% or 50% off. It was final sale when I bought mine so I can't just order a new one at the discounted price and send the first one back. I'll have to call customer service. I've been buying lots from J Crew lately so they shouldn't give me much of a hassle, but I just hate having to call them in the first place. They way they manipulate their stock availability online probably creates much more of a headache for them than a convenience. I can't tell you how many times a non-final sale item has gone on discount some number of days after I placed my order. Rather than deal with CS I just reorder and send the first back. Then they have to process the new order plus the return. Dumb.

  24. I guess I'm off the wagon again because I bought a baseball cap and a pair of earrings in the store on Saturday, and ordered a necklace and a top today online. Aargh, and I was doing so well...

The earrings are new and not online yet. On the receipt they are listed as Postcard earrings. They're kind of bizarre-looking but I'm a sucker for tortoise shell so I bought them at 25% off plus the educator discount. They have little colored stones attached to a larger tortoise piece.

Today I bought the peasant top in nightgarden floral because I love the print and also the floating petals necklace which is a total Marni-rip off but I think I'll wear it a lot.
