  1. I miss the the cool chunky rings JCREW used to make...

  2. Shipping woes! We are military with an APO address. I've ordered from J Crew for the past 10 years with no problems until the past 3 months. Some items aren't able to be shipped to us. I'm guessing it's because they are coming from store inventory and not the warehouse. However, On my last 2 orders, the only option I have to ship is standard shipping even with $250 worth of merchandise and one order was completely crewcuts.

J Crew customer service solution? Call them after I place an order and they will look at it to see if I qualify for economy shipping and then apply a credit to my account. Who has time to do this? And why should I have to? C'mon J Crew, get it together! I guess on the positive side though, this will seriously curb my spending. More and more I'm finding it harder to spend my money there!

    1. I have the same issue- but worse DPO- I have to still pay shipping and trying to return things takes over a month so by the time my stuff gets in i can only get credit.

    2. Hi Robin! I currently ship to an FPO address, and if for some reason I am charged shipping, I just forward my order confirmation and tell them I was charged for shipping even though my order qualifies for free shipping. It just takes one or two sentences, and I usually get a reply within a couple hours that they waived my shipping. Sometimes the reply comes with convoluted verbiage that basically says I qualify for shipping since all of orders have to come by USPS. Mostly I have problems on the Factory side, but once it occurred on the retail side, and so far, knock on wood, they have always refunded it. Madewell, on the other hand, just does not get it, so I definitely try not to order from them. I think the whole "qualifying" issue is more of their convoluted verbiage so that they don't get in trouble. I say just do it by e-mail in a sentence or two and let them take their convoluted time making sure it qualifies and hopefully you'll get a positive response.

I guessed about the same that the non-shippable items are coming from store inventory, but I've tried again at a later time (like after I heard here that all the sale inventory was being shipped back to the warehouse) and the item was again available to be shipped to my address. Mostly, though, like you, I take the non-shippable notice as a sign that it was not meant to be because the items I've gotten on warehouse popback weren't as great as I expected. Fortunately, nothing final sale, so I was able to return.

    3. Hi FAF! Didn't see your reply until after I posted above. Hopefully my suggestion might save you a couple bucks, too!

  3. Same old: the web site sale section. It's still too annoying to use. Fixed number of items per page (48) is too low, and you can't jump to a page. If I want to see what's on page 37, I have to hit the "Next" button 36 times. I'm not going to do it. Please fix it, J. Crew! Allow 96 items per page again please!

The web site product images have been very slow to load since the changes were made, too.

    1. Yeah, it's pretty bad. I can't seem to be able to go back to any previous page without getting a message that my search term yielded no results. I did notice 2 other "enhancements":

      1. The other day I placed a Crewcuts order and wanted to cancel within the 60 minute window to reorder another size. 15 minutes after I placed the order, I no longer had the option to cancel it - it had gone right to "Released". Ugh. Is that going to be a new thing now? I'm not willing to place another order to test it.

      2. I tried adding a popback item to my cart - on the item page I got the message that I couldn't add it because it was now out of stock. An attempt at real-time inventory?

    2. Actually, if you look at the address of the website, you'll see a page number. Just replace whatever number is there with whichever page you want to go to. In NO way am I saying that this is the easiest solution, but until they figure out that the current way doesn't work, you can navigate with somewhat more ease.

  4. If you place an order and one or more of the items is being shipped from a store it appears you lose the option of canceling the order. Maybe this is what happened.

  5. Ugh, so disappointed today to receive a pair of Cece flats in dazzling sun instead of the Ettas in bright fuschia. The Ceces aren't even my size :( I will say though, the SA on the phone was incredibly helpful and offered to honor the price on another pair of Ettas, they just didn't have anything close to the color I was looking for. They pre-returned the shoes right away though.

  6. Utterly disgusted with JC customer service. Just called to ask if there is any way that they could waive final sale for me because I would like to purchase the exact same dress in three different sizes. Her answer in the beginning: NO. I asked three ways from Sunday and her answer again and again was NO.

Now, I understand that there is a final sale policy, and I am more than willing to not return whichever size dress works for me. However, we are talking about a $280 dress --- $560 is a lot of money to spend on two dresses that do not fit, just because I can't be sure (FINAL SALE-sure!) which size will work.

I generally am between a size 8 and 10 --- usually 10 in dresses. I've never had to go up to a 12, but I wanted to try the 12 just in case the dress was tighter than expected. The CS rep went over my measurements with me, explained to me that the dress was not tight, then proceeded to tell me that I should buy size 12 on final sale because I could always get it taken in. Okay, if it's a fabulous dress, makes me feel fabulous and looks fabulous on me --- I am totally willing to part with the money to fit it perfectly to my body. But come on --- is it really that difficult to let me try two or three sizes???

Also, I've never actually seen this dress in person before. I am relying on the pictures from the JC website, which look great --- but of course, that doesn't always translate to real life! I haven't been able to find any reviews, and I am concerned because lace sometimes looks frumpy on me. I was planning to buy it today (with no other mark-downs, even!) for an upcoming formal event. But $840 is way too much to gamble with, so I guess I will just have to forget it.

Sorry for the rant. Final sale just seems so idiotic, especially for items that don't make it to all the stores. JC would already have my money if they were just a bit more flexible.

Anyway, does anyone have any reviews of the Shirred Lace dress (item 08578), or has anyone even seen it in real life?

    1. Christy - I don't have a review of the lace dress and haven't seen one. It looks great and you have to get the correct size!

Please email me with lace dress in the subject line. I'll respond by tonite. gigiofca at gmail

    2. Christy, if you can find that the dress you purchased final sale is "defective", they'll let you return and give you a refund. It's worth a try.

    3. Christy, I would talk to a VPS. I share your frustration!

  7. Used a promo code to get a Denim Jacket and wanted to exchange for a different color - but they can not honor the coupon code for exchange because it's a "different" jacket/style. Wanted to exchange the Patina for the Light Blue. LAME.
