This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent"
posts), where we can share our finds from other
retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew
(like Anthropologie, LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann
Taylor, and the like.)
If you
have recently encountered items that are similar to
J.Crew, maybe you might be
willing to share that information with us
in this post.
Please feel

including experiences with certain merchandise pieces,
promotions/ offers, in-store visits,
transactions with store associates, etc.
Alexis, Sorry for OT comment. Just wanted to thank all the JCAs who offered their advice and encouragement for my job interview. I got the job! I opted for a navy pantsuit/white shirt that I found at Nordstrom (Halogen). Felt well dressed and it worked :) Thank you JCAs. You rock!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Glad you felt confident!
DeleteThat's awesome! I wore a Nordstrom's navy skirt suit when I applied for my very first job eons ago. They have great suiting!
DeleteCongratulations!
Deleteyay, savvy shopper!!!
DeleteCongratulations! Also, navy is such a good choice. Even though it's still winter, navy is a welcome sign that spring is coming (especially with a white shirt), and it's such a flattering color too.
DeleteLate with this but CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Deletesavvy shopper, congrats!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! JCA's are the best :)
DeleteLoving Boden lately! I know a lot of people are turned off by their loud prints, but there is so much more they offer and it's really well done. I got the Breton Tunic in navy/ivory and it's so much nicer than any J. Crew Maritime type dress I own. The Nancy dress in Riviera is fantastic too and fits so much better than J. Crew dresses I've tried. I'm trying to figure out my correct size in the Chic Denim Mini skirt, but from what I can tell so far, their mini isn't too short.
ReplyDeleteI purchased their a-line denim skirt in tall and absolutely LOVE it. I paid full price and have no regrets. It was a workhorse in sunny Florida recently and now back home it looks great with tights and boots. Highly recommend. It's something JC could easily have produced if they didn't have their heads stuck in sequins and beads.
DeleteCate, did your regular size fit you alright? One of the reviews I have at the blog (under the reviews tab) said it ran very large through the bodice. Just curious. I am super excited to receive mine, not that the weather will allow me to wear it anytime soon, of course. :P
DeleteAgh, I meant to say did your Nancy Dress fit true to size. Must be more careful when commenting, lol.
DeleteDina, I ordered two sizes but only received one so far (the smaller one). I am not at my best weight right now and I thought the smaller size fit me pretty well, but I'll wait for the size up to make a decision. I didn't think the bust area in particular was tight, it was just a bit more snug in the bodice all around than I usually wear. I can't wear mine any time soon either, bad winter, bad! lol
Deletecmg, I didn't notice the A-line, that looks really cute (not many sizes left, though). I tried the Chic Denim Skirt but it was overall longer than I wanted. I think I'd probably have length issues with the A-line too, though. Their Chic Mini is long enough that I think this is the length I want (at 5'4" it's just above the knee). I don't know why J. Crew doesn't do something like these well. I tried their denim pencil skirt but it's really long and high-waisted, I made it look really bad :D
DeleteDina, I forgot to say that my regular size is the larger size that I haven't gotten yet.
DeleteBoden had a mini rollout yesterday of some summer items, including the Nancy Dress, which appears to be Boden's favorite dress from this season, since it is everywhere. Mine is shipping soon, so I look forward to seeing it in real life.
ReplyDeleteIn addition to the new items, they discounted a good amount of items by 20% off, but they are scattered through the site, so you have to hunt and peck for them.
I wrote more on both of these here at this post. :)
This is a little silly but I love how cute and happy the Boden models always are. No scowling over there!
ReplyDeleteJuicy Couture - addtl 50% off sale items, no code needed. Free shipping both ways. They were owned by Kate Spade & recently sold. And apparently they are going to be sold in Kohl's as of this fall. That'll be weird.
ReplyDeleteI don't own anything by the brand, but do tend to like one or two of their things each release. A few picks here.
A couple of reviews on some pieces from Ann Taylor and LOFT HERE.
ReplyDeleteAlso, for those interested in the Nike Court Majestic Sneakers (item a0786), Zappos is selling them for $49.99 with free shipping HERE.
ReplyDeleteI love the shoes at Garnet Hill this season! Their buyers do well with color. I think GH is strong with wearability and aesthetic.
ReplyDeleteNot sure where to post this,as usually tuesdays are review days, but here are some factory reviews(butterfly print skirt, maxi skirt, eyelet skirt and stried clutch) here.
ReplyDeleteCup of Jo has a link to Emerson Fry's outlet sale if anyone is interested. I ordered the coral ring I had been eyeing forever at a very reasonable price!
ReplyDeleteI have heard APC described as "the French J. Crew"...was into them 5 or 7 years ago but haven't bought much since. They don't cover the "wear to work" category as well as J Crew, but they do have lots of classic, chic casual pieces. They run small and seem more suited to "gamine" figures (I say sadly as I have gained a few years and pounds)...but worth a look-see!
