J.Crew's Latest the Thread Edition

"Thanks!" to many of you, including StaciStaci, as well as MillJCrew (in this post), who let us know that the latest issue of the Thread is being sent to customers. A big "thanks!" to StaciStaci, who shared these scans with us. (Just click on the image to view larger.)

The following is mentioned in the newsletter:
Marissa Webb— our Women's design mastermind— indulged her inner movie buff to build her vision for Fall. The result is a collision of two opposing but equally alluring sensibilities: the ladylike structure, pulled back styling and saturated colors embodied by the film Bonnie and Clyde {1967} and the fluid romanticism and the ethereal whimsy imagined in The Great Gatsby {1974}. Most notable? An exciting shift toward bold color— spicy bright oranges and reds with grey, camel and emerald greens sprinkled throughout— skirts that get longer and waists that get higher and flared '50s silhouettes in trenches, skirts and dresses.
I have not been super-excited about an upcoming collection from J.Crew in awhile. Until now. :) I am just thrilled with what I have been seeing so far from the Fall 2011 line. They finally went back to what they do best: classics with a twist. Welcome home J.Crew, welcome home.

Did you get a copy of the Thread? What are your thoughts on the issue? Are you excited about J.Crew's upcoming Fall Collection?

  5. I didn't get The Thread this time around, but I tend to get everything a little late even though I'm on the east coast.

I'm probably in the minority here but I'm not going bonkers over the fall items. I like the looks (love to look at new items) but nothing would work for me & my casual lifestyle except some of the shoes & the cape.

For those occassions when I do wear a skirt or dress, voluminous, to the floor skirts/dress do not suit me. It's fun reading what everyone loves though, and I'm sure there will be more casual items.

  6. While I love deep, rich colors I am not a fan of flared dresses, skirts or coats. It seems many here do like that look so it should be a good season for those JCAs. The super-high waist I can do but the saggy-crotch look that was all over the runways and appears in a couple of J.Crew's lookbook photos is the next ghastly trend that I won't be adding to my look.

Of course I am interested to see the looks as they roll out. I always find some things to love.

  7. IRL,

You are not in the minority I am right with you:)

However, I am just waitng to wear my spring dresses and skirts from seasons past from JCrew. Rolling out my oldies but goodies:) I prefer spring and summer clothing by far and cannot even fathom looking at fall clothing right now! Just cannot wrap my head around that concept when all I want is my subdivison pool to open and wear my swimsuits come May 1.

I bought so many JCrew coats my wardrobes in the basement are bursting so I will have fun looking when the time comes but wont' be buying fall this year:) I am glad so many are excited to see things they like though as well as good color selections. Good news is always great to hear.

  8. Surprised to see The Thread in my mailbox today. Usually it takes much longer to get to Canada. I also received the J.Crew Goes to Italy booklet and DVDs. Unfortunately they seem like really old news at this point.

  9. I recvd The Thread, but it didn't excite me. I really liked looking at the Fall 2011 preview. I'm with Genny, though. I have so many fall clothes. Many that went unworn this recent season. Cardigans! I will try to look from afar as much as I can.

  16. I bumped into The Thread on Shine/Yahoo and noticed a trademark next to 'The Thread.' I wonder about that trademark and this publication win the world of law. Just talking out loud.
