J.Crew Email: WOW: brand-new sale additions, in stores and online

"Thanks!" to many of you, including dinster (in this post), as well as Desert Flower & Ketan, who shared the following email.

J.Crew had a major update to the Final Sale (click here to shop online). A lot of pop-backs as well as new styles have been added. {yey!}

It would be great if J.Crew had one of those percent off promotions right now. However, is the perfect time to buy for those of you with additional percent off codes (from your catalog). :)

Will you be checking out the Sale section? Are there any items you are hoping to see or to get?

  1. Need, schmeed... that makes me laugh because it is a phrase I use often in reference to J.Crew items that I clearly do not need but HAVE TO HAVE anyway. Hehe. Still, I have no desire to shop final sale.

  2. A couple of items I want did go on sale, but I think I will wait. I'm very happy with the 30% off order I just received yesterday so that will tide me over for now. Thanks for the alert Alexis!

  3. I should probably avoid. I just receive my extra 30% off order yesterday as well and am happy with it. I got the cashmere cardi in soft peacock and really like the color. I always try to pick up a new cashmere piece during the extra % off times.

I think I am set right now.

  4. if I had a free ship code there would be a couple of things I would get but its too much of a hassle to buy and have to add ridealongs.

  5. I wonder if the new markdowns are also available in the store. I like the striped henley tanks, but $30 for a tank is still a lot. There's also a few FS items I like, but I have no idea what my size is anymore, plus I don't need pencil skirts if I'm working at home like a hermit.

  6. No FS for me. I guess I should probably order the web-only items I'm interested in before they go to FS in a week or so. It just gets to be a hassle.

Good luck to those of you that are hunting popbacks - make sure you get measurements and check out blogger pics beforehand!

  7. OT I'm pining after some Madewell jeans and could certainly use an unwanted code if someone is willing to part with one....

  9. OT: Can anyone comment on the fit of the Rainy Day Utility Jacket (#33368 back in stock in FS) now that they have had it for awhile?

I am holding on to a 4(!) and I have a 6 coming and I'm wondering if the fuzzy lining "depoufs" after awhile. The 4 is a little tight across the chest, but I love the more fitted look. I just don't want to be left with an oversize military-looking jacket in a month or so...

I'm usually an 8 in JC jackets (thank you, childhood gymnastics), which is why I'm so indecisive. Sizing down is a strange phenomenon for me (ha!)!

    Thanks so much in advance!

  10. silver_lining: ITA about having to order to try on before the new arrivals hit final sale...such a hassle!

I can't wait until Final Sale is over again. It should go back to regular sale or spring sale in the next couple of months. Wasn't it April or May of last year that final sale ended? There is a large summer rollout scheduled for May so maybe it will happen around that time this year.

  11. Okay how annoying! Glad to see so many more items, but totally holding out for extra % off. Got one 30% order yesterday, Lisette Shell in Navy/Black (love, and now have all 4 colors) unfortunately the zipper was halfway down the back of the shirt and had the lace part stuck in it...thank god no tears or rips, poor packaging J.Crew! Also received the Lindy Heel in Black and am sooo in love so happy I bought it and got the extra 30% off. Did notice though that some of my items went down in price with the latest update, Lisette and Trouper Pant. Stop playing pricing war J.Crew! Waiting on my second order from 30% off sale...

  12. I don't see many new items in the sale section but I will probably go to a store this afternoon and will report back! I am hoping for the candy plaid perfect shirt. On the other side I picked my two other "sale wants" (the cotton bell skirt and striped painter tee) during the recent 30% off so unless I change my mind on the gingham skirt I don't think I am going to buy anything, especially because I am between sizes and I don't want to buy anything that won't fit when it's finally time to wear it and be stuck with it due to their new return policy.

  13. audball, I have had my rainy day jacket for a while and I've worn it quite a bit. I have washed and dried it once. The lining seems the same, it has not "depouffed". I think the shell did shrink ever so slightly from the washing/drying, even though I washed it in cold and took it out of the dryer to let it air dry the last bit. The zipper is a bit puckered, which is a definite sign of shrinkage. If the size down is at all tight you may want to go with the size that has just a bit more room, to allow for shrinkage.

It is a boxy jacket but I adjusted the drawstrings to make it tighter on the waist and after a couple of wearings the "peplum" part laid quite flat and the jacket seemed to conform to my shape. I'm busty and took my regular size because I need the chest room. No way I could have sized down.

    HTH

  16. I finally got the Jamestown peep toes in the cedar color... I knew they would take a hit today!

  17. Big thank you goes to Nicole. I snagged the jeans, thank you so much for passing that along. I hope some good karma finds you today..... ; )

  18. I posted on the "vent" post that I hate final sale. So I'm going to hold off on ordering though I did see additional mark downs. Maybe with good reviews and extra % off I'd be less hesitant.

  19. I'm not seeing terribly much in the update. No Trouper pants left in the Shadow color, boo hoo!

Can anyone comment on how the fit of the leggy denim compares to toothpicks and matchsticks? Thanks!

  20. I just posted some more reviews w/pics, including several sale items. Dorrie Skirt (LOVE), Latour Dress, Boathouse Shirtdress, Aurora Tweed, Camp Pocket Cardi, Cotton Stud Cardigan.

Saw the Levelette Dress down to $29.99 in store!

  21. audball, I have the rainy day utility jacket too, and although I haven't washed it yet, I would say it's true to size. I wear my regular size 0 and it fits like a glove!

  22. Newyork0311: Thanks so much for chiming in...I'll try the 6 and see. It appears that it's not running large so maybe I shrunk! :/

  23. UGH!! First markdowns should not be final sale!!!

The lighthouse cardi I've been coveting for months is finally marked down in the ash color, but final sale. Um, no thanks

  24. audball, I tried on the rainy-day jacket and would have bought it during extra 30% if the waist-cincher / drawstring had been on the inside. it really threw me to see it on the outside of the coat! i like to adjust for a fitted look, so the 2 strings just hung there all limp and weird, so i had to pass. i'm sure it didn't help that i didn't actually NEED a jacket.

the green color was gorgeous though.

  25. In case it got buried in a days-old thread, here's my review of my latest sale haul:

My second (eek) 30% off order arrived today. 3 out of 5 items were clearly customer returns; the tags had been cut just enough to snip off the retail price. No matter, everything seems to be in order.

Oh deardeardear, I'm in love with the Origami Shift Dress! I'll have to stalk it now and buy it in black (or whatever the other color was) because it fits like a glove. I put it on and felt like a million bucks, same as with the Silvie shift dresses I bought at 40% off sale. Stretch flannel apparently is my friend! The Heather elm color is more brown than green IRL, imo.

I'm a little befuddled by my Prince of Wales Heidi dress, which I kept missing on popback and then I finally snagged it. It seems to fit a bit differently than my solid black one. I'm seeing some caving-in action in the chestal area (or maybe it's just excess material?), and while this is not new for me, it's especially noticeable with this dress. We shall see if an even more padded bra solves the problem! :)

Another win with the City Safari Pant. This is what I really want the Trouper pant to be, except that they're cropped. I think I'll be wearing these a lot this spring.

Got another large silk blossom pin, this time in Melon Spice. I definitely get some odd looks at work when I wear things like this, but oh well. I like them!

Last but not least, I have to withold judgement on the Superskinny Belt in glitter brown until I see if it starts shedding glitter. :)

  26. mommydearest, do a "test" checkout and see if it shows up as final sale on the order (before clicking, of course) ;)

  27. OK, back from the Soho store. The crosstown tee is on sale for $19.99 as is the scallop lace tank ($29.99 but I am not sure if all the colors or not. Definitively the pink and the fatigue colors). The lunette mini is $29.99 (I tried the melon but it was really not flattering on me) and the gingham skirt is $19.99!!! I tried it again and it was adorable with a white vintage tee (on sale as well). I couldn't leave it at the store. I grabbed two crosstown tees on my way out (melon and ivory) even if I know that they probably won't work (I need a XXS but they don't carry XXS in store. Annoying). Love that it is not FS in stores...

  28. Elaine: Thank you so much for your feedback on the utility jacket. I live in the Pac. NW so I justify my purchases with "if it's waterproof, I'm in..." :) I do love the green but I have the navy coming. Maybe just as well since I have the waxed utility jacket in the green.

Boy, I sure do make a lot of "justifications"! :D

  29. I received my Bonfire cardigan that I purchased during the 30% off sale and am recommending it to any tall gals out there. It is surprisingly flattering and chic for such a thick knit and feels like a comfy cotton blanket. I sized down on this one.

  30. OT: I have IRL pics of the Eyelet Pencil skirt here.

  31. mommydearest- I went into my local B&M today and bought the lighthouse cardi in whtie ash. It was $79 in the store and it was not marked final sale. Not sure if you are close to a store or not. I actually love the sweater. It's a good length. HTH.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Thanks, WFF. I forgot to try that. Just saw the red text when I looked at it. Maybe the ash isn't FS.

Thank you for the heads-up, Pat. I'm not buying it final sale, so I might need to run into the B&M. A % off would be nice though...isn't it a lovely color? The pink undertones are so flattering

  33. Ema or anyone else, any review on the Crosstown tee? I didn't see it in my store today but think it looks adorable online. Thanks!

  34. OT - the Liberty shirtdress is already sold out in every size except 2. Unless they restock of course, but it has been dwindling down in the size range the last few days so that may be it. Glad I ordered it - although it hasn't shipped yet - because I can always return if it doesn't work out but it's more difficult to score the popback for items that sell out so fast. IME anyway.

Thanks to jessie for those wonderful IRL photos. J.Crew should have given you the dress for free since your blog probably sold several of them!

  35. MDPA, the crosstown tee is cute but it runs big and it opens up at the chest. I tried the admiral blue last week (I have pics on my blog) and I think it was more flattering than the ligther colors that I picked up today (the ivory is very sheer). I hope that if I size down the elastic won't sit too high up as it hits me right at the waist in the XS (it is not an empire-style). I think that it is one of those things that you need to try: it might work for some and not for others (I am not sure it will work for me). HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  36. xoxo - SO glad I ordered the Liberty shirt dress the other day! I'd be really bummed if I missed my size. I missed out on a couple of great sale items yesterday because I waited just a few minutes too long to checkout!

Shirt dresses are tricky on me, though...hope this one fits and flatters like it does on Jessie! ITA that JC should pay her for being such a great real-life model.

  37. Elaine -- what size Trouper pants were you looking for? I'm about to return a pair of size 4 in Shadow.

  38. @Elaine - I totally love the look of the origami but sadly don't think it would fit me. the silvie where does the waist fit? It looks dropped?

  39. Updated between 6:00-6:20 EST, mostly popbacks in odd sizes. Provence dress marked down 69.50 to 49.99 (final sale). Modest factory update.

Tempted by Factory Flannel Perfect Shirt. Comments on fit, anyone? :)
