Weekly Share: Other JCrew-like Retailers

This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent" posts), where we can share our finds from other retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew (like LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann Taylor, and the like.)

If you have recently encountered items that are similar to J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

    Ann Taylor Loft has extra 40% sale online, no code needed. Looks like they restocked their sale section since last week, too.

    Banana Republic - Similar promo as Leigh posted is good in US. Use BRPOWER for an addtl 20% off sale items 11a - 2p your time. Also good in-stores.

    not J Crew- like, but worthy of mention - LL Bean now has a free shipping, no expiration, no minimum, from now on. Love that, makes me take a look for the more casual stuff

    Hi ladies - I tried on the Talbots Grace Fit Raison D'Être jacket in white today and thought it was super cute. When I was in the three-way mirror, a lady saw me and said, "You could see patients in that jacket!". Any thoughts on the white blazer in general? I thought it was darling - a longer, slightly looser fit. Now I'm wondering if it was too "doctory". ;)

    silver_lining - That jacket is so cute! It looks like a tailored version of, dareIsay, a boyfriend jacket. I don't know how to ask this politely other than, was the woman someone whose style you admired? Or did she just catch you off guard w/her comment. If she visits doctors a lot, maybe that's what came to her mind. If you thought it looked good, it probably did. Sometimes you have to take it home to be sure. I love a white blazer & white suit. As long as I'm not channeling Roarke or Tatoo, it's a beautiful look.

    Thanks, Gigi - yeah, it just totally caught me off guard 'cause I don't think white jacket = doctor right away. This jacket looked like a good substitute for the not-yet-released JC white jacket that was in the Spring '11 lookbook. I would've taken it home but it had a stain on it (already! the SA had just brought it out from the back). I may order it from .com so that I get one that hasn't been too "handled".

    I love a nice white jacket and own several from decontructioned to linen. I would just take the ladies comment in stride and if you like it order it:) and enjoy! I think a white jacket is classic.

    Bought something from Talbots for the first time and have been waiting three weeks for it to be shipped! They never sent a tracking number (I'm in Canada) and when I phoned customer service they basically told me I'm SOL. Not impressed, will definitely have to rethink buying from them again!

    My experiences so far with Talbots customer service have been great, both over the phone and in the store, so about 3-4 times now. Sorry to hear about that last bad experience

    Happened to come across this web site while searching for fabric. Very pretty scarves and decent prices. Check this one out, so cute for spring/summer, only $28, and it's silk too.
