Up to 30% Off Your J.Crew Order {wahoo!}

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Heidi, Rosie, love2shop4bags (in this post), as well as Elizabeth & Marietta, who shared the following {great} promotion with us.

J.Crew is offering 25% off orders on $150+ *or* 30% off orders of $250+ with promo code SNOWMAN. The offer expires this Sunday, 12/13/09.

Now for "the good & the bad" of this promotion...
  • The Good: Can be applied to both regular & full priced items *and* the limits are before the percent-off is applied
  • The Bad: Does *not* include free shipping (and the shipping fee is quite high, ranging from $15.50- $18.50)
Well, the start of Holiday offers has finally arrive. I wonder what other fantastic offers are in-store for us this season! {yey!}

Will you be taking advantage of this promotion? If so, what items are you planning to get? If not, why (waiting for a better promotion)?

  1. I passed, I still have to buy Christmas presents. The floor limit is high to get the promotion and shipping is not free.

  2. Quiet this morning...everybody must be shopping! ;)

OT: I just wanted to give a big fat RAVE (I know!) for the wool duffle coat. It was 15 degrees out when I left the house this morning - you know the days where your pants freeze on the 50 foot walk to the car? The coat and Thinsulate kept me very warm. I would HIGHLY recommend this coat - it's the warmest JC one that I own, and almost as warm as my LE down puffer coat from a few years ago that feels like I'm wearing a sleeping bag.

Thanks for reviewing the coat a while back, Gigi - if you didn't mention that it had Thinsulate I might not have given it a try. :)

  3. I agree paying for shipping dilutes the promotion. I still took the plunge -- my order was just over $250 and even with shipping I still saved about $80. Had this offer included free shipping I would have purchased more. Thanks for the heads up ladies!

  4. Ahh! I bought more stuff... for MYSELF!!! It's a great promo! I also wish I had free shipping but I bit the bullet anyway since all my sizes were selling out so fast. I'm just crossing my fingers that everything fits right because I'll be losing $15 b/c of shipping :(

I bought stuff yesterday too w/ the FS code but now all of that stuff is sold out.. I would have re-ordered. At least I used the free shipping code so that I can happily return if it doesn't work out.

  5. Yay! I saved $150 and had free gift boxing and monogramming for my gifts!!

  6. Quick question guys, how long does it take for Jcrew to credit your account for something? I had a messed up order I received on Monday and I called to have them refund ridiculous $18.50 in shipping, which they agreed to do, but haven't seen anything on my credit card or my account page. Wondering if I need to make another phone call...urgh.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Okay, I'm super confused...anyone else notice that jcrew.com charges less sales tax than if you bought it in the stores? Why is that? I live in Chicago and sales tax in 10.25%, both my shipping and billing address are in the city, but when I buy from jcrew.com, I only pay like 6.25%. It doesn't make a huge difference, but makes swallowing the icky shipping pill much easier.

  8. Priya,

Several times it has taken up to 2 weeks for the credit to show up on my account. One time it took a month! A couple of times this fall it only took a couple of days so who knows??? Depends on your credit card company not just JC

    ReplyDelete
  9. I won't be using this coupon code. Like casual-crew need to buy presents for others right now and the shipping is not free on this promo. Give me a free shipping no minimum code and I will buy for sure.

I have placed 10 online orders for gifts this week as well as myself. All with % off and free shipping.

OT: I have gotten several LE orders. All the items in perfect condition and very happy with the quality. The styling and tailoring is great too. LE is really stepping up its game.

  10. I bit, but mostly to re-order a few things that I'd already bought at a higher price. I still have the free shipping in my account, so I saved quite a bit! Maybe by Sunday they'll extend free shipping to everyone!

    ReplyDelete
  11. I won't be using this promo. Filled my shopping bag with over $250 but got to check out and could not swallow the high shipping fees...rather go out and eat lunch with a friend for the $20 and not waste it trying on clothes that might not work...

    ReplyDelete
  12. OT: Land's End has 25% off everything and free shipping:)

I REALLY wish this offer at Free shipping too from JC.

    ReplyDelete
  13. This is a good offer, imo, but I've been spending waaaaay too much and need to let this one pass. But it's definitely tempting!

    ReplyDelete
  14. I re-ordered everything I've bought recently! even with shipping, I saved $100.

    ReplyDelete
  15. nope, the lack of free shipping on my account makes this less enticing, and nothing I have to have from the crew, alas. still have returns i haven't gotten around to taking to the store!

    ReplyDelete
  16. OT: Did anyone know that you can do a search by price, too? I tried it when I was looking for a top I saw at the B&M yesterday, remembered the price but didn't know the name. I didn't find what I was looking for, but other goodies popped up that don't come up under the regular sale. They have the beach fabric piazza dresses, some colors $20, others $30. You end up getting not last year's version, but the spring '10 dress. I ordered this in early fall and it was backordered until a couple weeks ago, and the tag said SP10.

I'll definitely be using this type search whenever I need something small to reach a cart minimum in the future. No JC for me today, without free ship the returns I inevitably make take the pep out of this sort of promo. I did order yesterday with the free ship, but almost everything I got then is sold out now.

Off, off topic: my word verification for posting this is "nosepica" and my inner adolescent is giggling like a mofo.

  17. Hi all,

I am an avid jcrew shopper and I check this blog daily and love it! but have never posted anything, but I would like to comment on how some members feel about the quality of jcrew clothing recently. I have to say I was extremely disappointed with their wool club pants, I bought it full price a month ago, and it has pilly balls all over and the material has started shredding. So I sit most of the day at work, but it shouldn't be to a point where these pants have become so hideous and are going to the donation pile. It's only been a month and I wear these maybe once a week at most. I am sad to say that I will not be participating in purchasing anything even if the sales discount is so big! Thanks to everyone who post insightful comments!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Pamela, thanks for your comments. I had my eye on the wool twill studio trousers, but it sounds like they may not even make it through the winter - booo!

Summer, thanks for the LE info. I've been eyeing some of the Canvas pieces and will likely give them a try with this promo.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Pamela... I am sorry to hear that about your pants. I must say the quality issue is what makes me not want to purchase wool from J crew. I dont mind paying up for the good stuff in this world but come on at least give me the good stuff and not just make claims. It is sad really.. I truly feel robbed at times and yet, I love J crew for other things.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Priya - in my case, the sales tax is the same as in B&M, plus they also charge tax on shipping (at the same rate). Grrr.

    Glad you saved on taxes!

    ReplyDelete
  21. CheesyGoodness,

I agree. Rebuying items from a previous order and then having to return the duplicates is just a pain in the you know what! Plus, I just don't have time to mess around with all that. Great if others do but I just don't have that kind of free time! So, I try to buy at what I think an item is worth and be happy at that....price chasing at JCrew could drive a person mad!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Pamela,

Thanks for the post. Quality wool pants should never pill or shred to the extent you are describing. More proof that JC quality is declining.

Proof is in the wear not the talk. JC is doing too much talking nowadays about their so called quality fabrics. It will catch up to them in sales eventually. Hope it bits them in the but!

  23. silver lining,

If you need the code and pin to get the discounts at LE here they are:

    DEC14 00001248

    ReplyDelete
  24. Pamela, I would take them back to the store and tell them what happened. They should be able give you a refund.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Sure, they can offer discounts, but when are they going to ensure that they ship out the correct merchandise????

    ReplyDelete
  26. I have those studio twill pants, yes they pill in the WORST place - the crotch area. I am a size 2, so my thighs don't even rub together that much when I walk. How mortifying. I have NEVER had to fabric shave pants before. What's the deal. Perhaps a mass boycott should be in order. There are seriously other things to spend your money on besides expensive low quality clothing.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Pamela - thanks for the heads up re. the bum wool fabric on the pants! I agree with Kat - you should bring them back to the store and see if they can exchange them for another pair, give you a credit, or at the very least an explanation as to how or why the material broke down so easily.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I don't know if anyone noticed last night, but I'm 99% sure that Jenna's outfit on the tv show 30 rock was Madewell! I recognized the necklace and the vest.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I am really disappointed by this promo. Last year it was 30% off $150 or more + free shipping. Obvs it is not 2008 but I would think that J. Crew could throw in free shipping if you spent $250 as a sort of happy holidays we appreciate your business gesture.

I kind of find it offensive that J. Crew expects for customers to pay for shipping when Neiman Marcus & Barneys have free shipping with no minimum purchase. Needless to say, I did not order anything this time around.

    Pamela-
I am sorry to hear that about your pants. I would return them back to the store and tell the SA that they are defective and that you would like a credit.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Can anyone do me a HUGE favor and tell me how the sizing is in the professor blazer and the schoolboy blazer? True to size? I really want to take advantage of this promotion.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Thanks for your comments! i definitely will go and ask for an exchange, but I'm not sure if I want the same thing to happen to my pants. Seriously My whole closet is j.crew work attire, and this is the first time something like this has happened. My local pasadena jcrew's sa's are really unpleasant to deal with, does any one in the southern california region have any suggestions for j.crew's to go to where the sales associates are a little nicer? Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I know there's been some reviews on this site about the Nottingham flat boot but I need to know if anyone has a shaft size problem - is the size chart accurate?

I' 5'1" and the measurements are right there on the edge. So if anyone has tried it on, please let me know so I can use this 30% on it. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I did take advantege of this promo - MOSTLY crewcuts and stuff for hubs.

But I did want to comment that I have been so happy with my recent Lands End purchases - as Summer pointed out - great promos too. The cashmere is OUTSTANDING (I have vowed to never buy JC cashmere again) and I have really enjoyed the Canvas pieces I have purchased (plus you get a cool free canvas tote) :) Worth a look. I'm hoping they come out with some new offerings soon!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Anna, I found the schoolboy blazer was true to size. I have been wearing 4s and 6s in jackets with J. Crew very recently, but I suspect a bit of that is vanity-sizing...

My "old" non-vanity sizing size was a 6 or 8 for jackets, and in the schoolboy I purchased an 8...and it is a great fit.

I have some pics of me wearing it on my blog...I posted the pics in my November 12, 2009 post. Hope that helps a little bit. :)

BTW, I love this 30% off sale, but I wish it was at a lower price point...ah, well. Still snagged a couple of goodies like the stardust skirt in copper and the black constellation cardigan. (Things were selling quick this morning...wow...I had a few things in my bag, and then pow, two minutes later they would be GONE.)

    ReplyDelete
  35. Pamela, I love the look of the wool twill club pants but have had the same problem with them pilling on the inside of the legs. . . and I've only worn mine 3 or 4 times. I've been thinking about calling customer service, but not sure I wanted to part with the pants. . . until now. Thanks for letting me know it's only going to get worse. If you try to return them I'd be curious to know how that turns out.

As far as the promotion goes, I've already bought most of my J Crew gifts. Hoping to pick up some bargains for myself after the holidays.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Mack,

Really nice to read your post about LE and your experience being so good. I got several boxes from them yesterday. It was so nice to open everything and have it be top notch quality and guaranteed no time limit for full refund.

Now, when I get a JCrew box I often start to panic and think, "OK. Which item will be defective this time." Sad, but true. I have has so many issues the past year and a half. I think I need to lay off ordering from JCrew for a while.....

    ReplyDelete
  37. Emily,

Exactly, I mean spending $250 doesn't even get me free shipping at JCrew???? Silly.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Yes, that helps a lot! Thanks Dina!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Dinagideon

I found the opposite. The stuff is still sitting in my shopping bag this afternoon. So no hurry for me to order even the sale items I have....esp. with no free shipping on my account. Will wait it out and see.....

    ReplyDelete
  40. I reordered a bunch of stuff with this promo, mainly because I have FS on my account. It is a pain in the butt to make all of the returns, but the $$ that I saved is worth the trips that I will have to make, and the explanations of why I am returning. It is exhausting... which tells me that I need to slow down and take a long break from shopping in general.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Pamela, I had the same issue with those pants, but my pilling is all in the inner thigh area (maybe because the fabric rubs together there when I walk?). I've only wore the pants twice and didn't even walk that much in them, so this was a disappointment. But the pills did come off pretty easily .

    ReplyDelete
  42. OT: Has anyone tried on the silk Posy blouse? Is it see-thru? Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Amanda,

I have the Nottingham flats and I found it TTS. I am 5'2" and they are perfect for me. I have slightly wide feet and they're a bit tight. My calves are 14.5" and the extended calf fit perfectly to tug in skinnies. Overall I am very happy with the boots. HTH.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Genny: Yes, you are right. I should clarify...some of the "harder to find" items were the ones jumping out of my bag and into other people's purchases. :) There was a lovely ring that I would have loved to buy, but it must have been a popback, and a very nice top, as well...but the merino turtleneck I bought I have a feeling would have been there for a nice long time...but since I was going to get the stardust skirt, I figured, eh, why not...brought the price of t-neck down to 30 bucks or something like that!

Yes, I think you are right, in general, the post-holiday sales may be very lovely!

    ReplyDelete
  45. silver_lining: thanks so much about your comments on the wool duffle! I was concerned about the warmth factor until I saw that it had thinsulate. mine is supposed to arrive today- I can't wait! I'm freezing in Boston! :)

I tried to use my student discount by emailing CS (I also used the 30% discount from earlier this week) and they told me that I couldn't combine it with the FS coupon code. Oh well. :)

    ReplyDelete
  46. I didn't plan to get anything with this promotion, but two of us at work combined our orders. We scored 30% off and we will split the shipping costs.

Shipping was just over $20, but we saved over $80 on sale items so it was well worth it. A great way to do some Christmas shopping and avoid the mall.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Pamela,
Sorry to hear about your pants! I would definitely take them back for store credit or even just a return if you still have the receipt (They should even be able to do a receipt look up from your CC)

As far as So Cal J.Crew stores, the ones at The Grove shopping center were really sweet and nice the last time I went in there. They validated my parking before I even purchased anything.

    Good luck!

    ReplyDelete
  48. I also emailed CS about receiving my student discount on my order made last week during the 30% off Outerwear promo...They emailed back saying they could not combine the FS code I used and my student discount, but offered to apply the student discount (since it would be more beneficial than the free shipping) if I agreed to pay the shipping cost. Awesome! :) Thanks JC!

    ReplyDelete
  49. I went for it! My hubby has been really wanting one of the Oilcloth Field Jackets ever since he saw it in store last month so I decided to surprise him with it :) I got a few other gifts to bring my total up for the 30% off and am pretty happy with the savings in the end. Would have been nice to have the free shipping too.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Regarding the pilling wool pants: I bought some plaid wool pants from Ralph Lauren a couple years ago that started pilling heavily after I wore them only a couple times, especially on the inner thighs. I had to use my sweater comb to remove pills every time I wore them. It wasn't long before the fabric was completely shredded and unwearable. I wore the pants maybe a dozen times total before I had to throw them in the trash to avoid exposing myself.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I'm sooo tempted to order more. I'm trying my best to resist. I have enough in my shopping cart but I only have the "free gift boxing" for logging into my account. If I had free shipping, it would be a great deal since the additional 30% really adds up to a nice discount. I'm really digging the JC tights - the colors just seem so much nicer than the ones from the gap or BR. Does anyone really like their JC tights?

    ReplyDelete
  52. I did take advantage of this promo. I had the free shipping, free gift boxing and free monogramming so how could I resist? I just hope my husband doesn't freak out when the packages start arriving next week!

    ReplyDelete
  53. I apologize for straying from the topic, but I don't know where else to go. I just received the merino turtleneck in the mail yesterday, and today I discovered a terrible snag, which has led to a small hole. I can't return it with a clear conscious because suspect my cat caused it (my fault for leaving it out).

Anyway, my question is: has anyone had experiences with a reweaver fixing such snags? Also, is it normal that I did not receive extra thread with the sweater?

    Thanks for your help!

    ReplyDelete
  54. pamela, really sorry to hear about your pants. i bought a pair of unlined wool straight cut dress trousers from brooks brothers. they were beautifully cut (not conservative), a thin soft fluid fabric, and i wore them and wore them and wore them and drycleaned them many a time - they were my go to black dress pants for work and play. now 7 years and a few hundred wears later, the hem and inside thigh are *starting* to fray! my point: sitting, walking etc should not get trousers to pill and shred if they are of good quality. i would recommend taking them back to jcrew. i had a pair of jcrew mittens pill and shred after just 4 wears last year and i took em to a store, they exchanged em (with nasty looks), and 2 wears later the new one looked like that, too! I took them back, and got a refund. if it's defective merchandise, you are well within your right to get a refund.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I placed my order this morning around 10:30(mostly crewcuts items for my daughters) and I just got a shipment notification email(!)
I should be OK as I rarely have issues with defective CC items...

I decided not to buy for myself w/o free shipping. I tend to buy sale stuff not because I need/want them but they are like 75% off regular price($19.99 camies, shirts). I'm so proud of myself for not ordering ethereal ruffle sweaters today.

    ReplyDelete
  56. OT-

    Does anyone remember this sweater?

I scored one tonight from the resale shop I frequent (every week, LOL). I vaguely remember when it was in stores, but can't find it on Polyvore or on Google.

    Thanks in advance!

    ReplyDelete
  57. did anyone find the wool duffel coat to run big? i'm always a 0, i was even a 2 in the ruffle front coat and i think the wool duffel coat is big on me! i'm sad though, i don't want to return it because they're completely sold out in my size so i'm hoping to make it work lol. just wanted to see how everyone else finds the fit :)

    ReplyDelete
  58. Anyone have the Small Georgie Satchel? Do you like it? Anyone NOT like it? I have the metallic gold in my cart but I'm not sure ... Kind of an impulse thing and I'd really appreciate some feedback. Is it worth $140? Is there a better choice? Hard when you can't see these bags IRL. TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  59. OT: Has anyone washed or spot-cleaned their Frances cami with any success?
    Thanks

  60. Just wondering - can you find really good stuff in the JC outlets? I am hoping to buy some outwear but all the outlets are quite far... any thoughts?

    ReplyDelete
  61. Roberta, the outlets are hit or miss IME. Personally, I wouldn't go out of my way just for the JCrew outlet, but I might stop if I was going that way anyway.

I received my back ordered short chalet shearling boots in graphite this week. I ordered both desert brown and graphite during the boot sale a few weeks ago, planning to keep my favorite color and return the other pair. Except I like them both and now I've already worn them both. I'm bad.

Alexis' post on merino sweaters a few days ago has me newly obsessed with them. I ordered several from Brooks Brothers sale tonight. If I don't like them, there's a store right in my office building for easy exchanges or returns. It's amazing how much the ease of returns affects my online ordering decisions. That and free shipping.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Tres-tippy - Yes, I find that I could go down a size in the duffle; I'd tried it on the store while I was wearing a shirt and cardigan and knew this. I know Gigi, silver_lining, and another reviewer had mentioned this too, so it's not just you and me. I'm sorry, do you think you'll try to make it work or see if they'll replenish their stock?

    ReplyDelete
  63. Roberta - i was just in one yesterday. If you can find a retail piece in the clearance section then great but otherwise the coats do not compare to retail. Same design but the wool used almost looked like felt. The old navy coat i got looked better in comparison. The store is running 60% full price outerwear.

    ReplyDelete
  64. hi audrey~thanks for your input. i think i may keep this one for now and check back for my size (petite 0) :) i really love it though, so i'd hate to miss out on it entirely.

    ReplyDelete
  65. No update yet this morning. Was hoping for some popbacks. I wonder if they won't update til after SNOWMAN?

Marymoo, I totally agree about Crewlet coats! Deceptively similar styles, but the fabrics and construction are way inferior to regular retail.

  67. Ordered a $9.99 tee last week and received a $90.00 sweater stuffed in the item's bag instead! I'm honest and returning it but I have to wonder how the shipping department works.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Vera: I had the same thing happen to me. My cat snagged and put 2 holes in a J.Crew merino sweater the first time that I wore it. I found this company online:knitalteration.com
You ship them your sweater and they repair it and ship it back. They did a beautiful job! Hope this helps :)

    ReplyDelete
  69. Hi Nicole, that sweater is genuine J. Crew, I'm trying to remember, maybe, three years? It would take me some time to find the catalog it was in but if you're wondering if it's J. Crew, it is for sure. I wish they did more embroidered embellishments like that on their sweaters these days. Now it's all ruffles.

  72. Tres Tippy-

I have the duffle coat and the SA said it is suppose to be a little roomy since it was designed to be worn with a sweater or over a suit. This coat is not supposed to form fitting. I find that my coat fits me just right with a sweater. I was going to be go with a smaller size but he said the sleeves would be too short on me.

    ReplyDelete
  73. What's J. Crew's email address? I'm going to see if they'll send me the Look Book. I never get them!

    ReplyDelete
  74. Wendy and Tres Tippy, duffle coats are traditionally a loose fitting style. I love the style on those who can wear it, but it's very unflattering on me as it makes me look much heavier than I am.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I did buy a few things, mostly for my daughter. I have already purchased all xmas presents, but I thought the offer was too good to pass up. I did get FS by signing up into my account online, so overall it was a good deal.

  76. There's nothing I'm coveting right now, so I'm passing. BUT, I recently got the Large Patent Campo bag and I love it!! Perfect size to carry work papers/notebook, lightweight, easy to clean, great patent material. No complaints (yet)!! (PS I got the plum color and I love it).

  78. Does anyone know if the Whisper pink color is pretty in IRL? Also, if the Cashmere V-neck cardis (18286) run TTS? And has anyone gotten their sweaters monogrammed? I needed to get a gift and thought it might be a unique idea? Thanks for any input.

    ReplyDelete
  79. It's been a while since I've ordered from JC and the snowman promo was just what I was looking for. I got the Pippa metallic flats in lilac, the Frances cami in lavender, and some merino sweaters for my dad and hubby. I'm very familiar with the discomfort that's sadly associated with JC flats, but they're definitely worth the second looks due to their uniqueness. And besides, the shoe-cobbler is able to give them a good stretch for extra space for my tootsies!

    ReplyDelete
  80. Diane - re: the cashmere cardis, they are TTS or slightly larger. I know the cashmere is getting mixed or bad reviews, but I am obsessed with how cozy they are so I have been going from store to store trying on everyone's cashmere. Haven't tried LE yet.

**SIGH** No one's cashmere is as interesting as JC, plus the colors are awesome. I really tried to find an alternative. This year's doesn't pill as much as last years IMO.

I wear cashmere as casual wear (don't want to wreck it at work) so it doesn't have to be perfect, just supercomfortable.

  81. Saved $86 today with the 30% off and got all shopping done for my nieces. Somehow I only paid $11 in shipping, even though the items are getting mailed to 4 different kids at two different addresses. I'll take it!

    ReplyDelete
  82. Just received the Stadium-Cloth Friday Coat in Heather Gray and Black. This is from the 25% off sale a week ago. Now it's 30% off, I'm a little peeved. Anywho, I wanted to try both to see which I would like, since they aren't available in the store. Interesting enough, the black in 12 fit very nice and the heather gray was really big in the same size and looked not as nice as the black. Probably b/c it looked like a big sack on me.
I'm holding out for other good buys when free ship is available. I paid $18.50 in ship for these puppies! But, I'm glad I did since I knew this is the one I wanted really.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Wolfy, is 12 your regular size? Also, did the coat feel warm and/or bulky? Thanks! I ordered the heather gray and am anxiously awaiting it.

  84. Mags- Thanks so much for your help!
That gives me a better idea. I am tired of returning items via UPS, since I am not near a store. I think I will leave my shopping to the weekly exchange, it seems to work out better!

  85. Heidi, I bought that necklace in black. It's been gone online for a while, I think.
FYI - all loose jewelry (not in a case) was $10 off today (I'm not sure how long this promo lasts). Plus, if you are a teacher or student, you get the 15% off as well.

  86. I finally pulled the trigger on the icon trench. I should have purchased it last week when I could have gotten free shipping also...but my willpower was stronger last week, I guess. I was visiting it daily online I decided it was time to bite the bullet and place the order.

  87. Lauren- Yes, I got a 12R in both the black and heather grey in the same jacket and no it isn't bulky at all. It is warm and pretty perfect for 40+, not sure if it is warm enough for 20 or lower. The heather grey looked less impressive than the sleek fitted black that I got in the same size and style. But as I said previously, that it may be due to it being somewhat irregular. I was really hoping to love the heather grey and return the black, but I really can't when I see how the black looks on me. I think I may wait for another sale and get the Carlin or Lady Day in the Spiced wine.

If you are looking for something a little warmer I would try the wool duffel coat. I tried it in store, and it is really warm and cozy.

  88. My lovely Galaxy Ribbon Necklace has been snatched from my cart.....I'm very very sad!! I know one of you aficionadas got it. Boooo!!!
I'm so stupid cause I don't really need it. I just wanted it on sale. And shipped to me free. That's not asking much, is it???

  89. I was in the Lake Forest IL store yesterday and they had a couple Ethereal v-necks in Buff Pink XS and S for 19.99, if anyone is looking.

  90. Hi, I'm new here!!! I've seen a couple of posts where people say "I have free shipping on my account". What does that mean, is that for the JCrew credit card holders? tia

    ReplyDelete
  91. truluxe,
No, it is not for cardholderss. It is for people who buy lots of JCrew at full price, rarely return anything, and are the "bigger spenders."

JCrew automatically gives certain clients either free shipping, free monogramming or free gift boxes or all 3 to a select few when they log onto their JCrew account. It just pops up.

They just started doing this a few months ago with free shipping only but recently added the other perks.

  92. Thanks, Wolfy. I'm really hoping the heather graphite looks ok in person--I did see the stadium cloth trench in that color in my B&M and it looked good. ITA that the duffle coat is very warm, but I just didn't like how it hung on me.

  93. Genny, it's not just the big spenders, etc. Last time around I got free ship on my account and I rarely buy full price and return a lot. I do have a JC Silver Card though.

  94. I have a JCrew silver card. No perks to having it though.

  95. I made a purchase using the snowman code...then I cancelled it. I couldn't do it! I wanted to but I hate paying $20 for shipping when I'm making a $300+ purchase.

I also think J.Crew should do something about making their credit cards more worth using. Only reason I got one was for their "rewards" and it's not even that great.

  96. Thanks, Preppydiva, for sharing your experience with a reweaver for your sweater. That gives me hope now, and I was going to just throw the sweater away!

  98. I have to second the comment about the free-shipping/ perks on your account. I do purchase a lot from JC, but 90% of it is on sale and I return a lot... like half of what I buy! I don't know how they choose who gets the perks, but I have a feeling it's not JUST based on how much you spend... IMO

  99. I have no idea how JCrew chooses the recipients of their promotions, but IME some companies base their offers on customers who DON'T shop frequently. Frequent shoppers apparently don't need any extra encouragement to buy. I always assumed that was why JCrew didn't show me any love.

  100. HUGE INVENTORY UPDATE ONLINE! You have to know what you're looking for though b/c items aren't yet showing up on the sale page. Have fun and Merry Christmas! If you hurry, you may still be able to get the SNOWMAN deal b/c it sometimes takes a couple hours before they deactivate it! :)

  102. OT: Does anyone have a new Lands End or CANVAS promo? I have a code for Free Shipping but would love to find one for 25% off and free ship like they had a few days ago. TIA! :)
