"Thanks!" to many of you, including Heidi & MommyDearest (in this post), SimpleIsBest (in this post), as well as Drewablank & Marietta, who let us know the following.
J.Crew is offering an extra 25% off their Holiday Sale (click here), and free shipping on orders of $150+ with promo code EXTRA25. This offer expires 12/20/09.
It is worthwhile to point out the following fine print of this promo: "Free shipping applies to orders of $150+ after 25% discount on sale items and before shipping, handling and taxes are added". {A bit sneaky here.}
Will you be taking advantage of this promotion? Are there any sale items you are interested in getting?
I had $150 in my card before promo so NO I wan't be using this (lame) promo. I liked the ones they had been offereing when the total was $150 for $off amd free shopping. I was really hoping for a super code these last few shoppings days. This looks to be it sad:(
ReplyDeleteSadly, I think I'm going to pass on this one as well. I skipped the last 2 promos because I had been holding out for something great,But now the clock is ticking and the window for shipping before Christmas is almost gone. 30 minutes ago, I had a whole cart of stuff ready to go, but then I discovered the sneaky fine print. Lame J Crew.
ReplyDeleteSo instead I took my $$ to Martin + Osa and American Eagle. I grabed some jeans at M+O (they fit me amazingly well) for 17$, some really lovely sheer stripe tees for 11$ with my 25% off promo that I applied to the 20% off the clerance sale already going on.
I even got a cashmere cardi from American Eagle for 45$. (Had a 15% off promo, plus buy 1 get 1 50% off) I've never tried their cashmere, but with free returns, I thought it would be worth it.(it can't be worse that J Crew, can it?)
I don't know, maybe its the holidays, but J Crew has just been depressing and aggrivating me lately. Why the tricks? Half-hearted promos? Wonky pricing online vs. B+M? I have $$ I want to spend J Crew! But you have to work to make me want to spend it with you!
Wow Alexis you are up early to catch this promo. J Crew keeps on peddling the same promo with a little twist each time, I could not find enough to fill up my cart so I passed again.
ReplyDeleteUPS must me wondering what happened to me it has been almost 2mts since my last order.
If anyone sees the perfect fit contrast shirt(item 15463) in a size 4 in their stores, please contact me at mjr001@gmail.com. It's the cotton chambray one with the chest pockets. TIA.
ReplyDeleteI reordered the duffle coat. I purchased it during the 30% promo. It was about $208 at that time.
ReplyDeleteI just reordered it with this promo, it was $142. Definitely worth the hassle of driving to the store and returning one.

ReplyDeleteHave to pass on this one again. I tried to load up my cart but in the end I was not just not into any of the items at all. Nothing I have to have or really want. Promos from last year were more enticing.
ReplyDeleteBought the wool studio trouser in copper. I still had the FS promo on my account at any price. Snagged them for just under $40.
ReplyDeleteI've really not been purchasing alot lately. I went into a B&M last week and only bought a hat for less than $10. I find myself asking more & more these days- do I really want this? Usually, no.
i ordered a few things w/ the promo but with the way my shipments have been going i'll only end up keeping half!
ReplyDeleteegyptomaniac- $17 jeans, what a great deal!! i'll have to check out M&O!
dindin- what a great price for that duffle coat!
I am odd man out. My cart is loaded and I'm definitely taking advantage of this. Since they marked down so many winter items, the sale section has a lot more to offer. I'm even getting things like perfect fit tees that are on promo.
ReplyDeleteYes I did use the promo, but I agree that it a lame offer
ReplyDeletecasual-crew lol. Mine would fall over!
Can anyone give me some sizing feedback on the Maya dress? I am normally a small - would a xs or m be better? Please email me mommydearestjca at yahoo
thank you so much!!
I think I'll pass on this one as well. OT, I went to the warehouse sale in Arden, NC last weekend and scored some incredible deals!
ReplyDeleteI found a cashmere tee for $25, an embellished tee for $5, a pair of trousers for $10, quite a few men's polos for $5 a piece, a tweed collection dress for my mother for $30, a suiting dress for $20, a crewcuts collection cashmere dress for $10, a current cashmere V neck cardigan for $45, and several other things. My hubby and I left with about $2500 worth of stuff for....$300! It was exhausting and overwhelming digging through all of those boxes, but I will definitely make the drive to go back!
I'm torn. I'd love to buy the Ikat and metallic gold skirt, but I hate that I have to spend so much to get a discount. I think I'll probably pass.
ReplyDeleteThis is so lame, I can barely believe it! Too bad, I might have made some purchases if it was a sale on everything, not just sale stuff.
ReplyDeleteI'm like Ashley, I know I'll have returns. I did order though, I was waiting for this type of promo to get another cashmere cardi. I really like the one I got earlier this season, it does seem to hold up a few degrees better than last year's. Slightly less pilling and holds its shape better IMO. I went for the berry color in that, the sequin purse for DD, and a few things for me to try (aka probably going back to the store.)
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone have the scoopneck shoulder sash dress? It's $22.49 after discount and all sizes/colors seem available, and it's been hanging out in the sale section forever. Is this like horrendous on or something? Thank goodness for no FS, I added that for free ship.
Leslie, GREAT HAUL!!! I am so happy you did the math on your savings, I love peeling off the sale stickers and adding up pre-discount costs. I'm totally jealous of your cashmere CC score, that's so awesome!
ReplyDeleteI finally ordered the watercolor leopard dress (I tried it last week and I fell in love with it), a shirt and some accessories. I would have liked no minimum on the FS.
ReplyDeleteThe sale section is pretty much picked over and I'd like to see more things marked down or at least same price as B&M. I would have preferred discount on regular items as well. Oh well...maybe after Christmas?
Lesie:
ReplyDeletewhat a great deal at the clearance center....oh how I wish I lived near there.
Thanks for sharing...
Is anyone having trouble with the website?
ReplyDeleteI did take advantage of this to order a couple of things I've been watching for awhile. The discount with the free shipping really made them all a great deal, too.
ReplyDeleteEvery time I try to even look at the sale items, I get the green screen telling me that the site is having issues. I can't believe that JC still hasn't fixed their messed up web site, which seems to implode every time there is a sale. Well, I guess if I can't look at the sale items, I won't be tempted to buy anything! Nice work, JC!
ReplyDeleteCheesy- I tried the Organza sash tank and if that sash dress is anything like the tank, you'll probably want to stay away from it. The sash looks like it covers one side of your body (aka one boob) and so your other one will end up "popping" out because its not covered w/ the ruffle sash. Hope that makes sense... i haven't seen any reviews on the dress but its a great price, at least you can always return... hth! :)
ReplyDeleteHas anyone seen the Ryder satchel in real life? I am very tempted, but want an opinion or two...
ReplyDeleteAshley, thanks for the heads up on the boob popping. Now I'm looking forward to having a good laugh when I try it on! Ah, the fun we have with JC.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pitifull offer. Esp. as Alexis noted JC is up to its old wording tricks. Definte pass. If it was $150 before discounts (I have that much to order) than yes but I am not adding crap to my shopping to meet their minimum and then get a little discount!
ReplyDeleteI have been shopping at LE like a made woman getting great deals and high quality clohtes. No minimum either! I placed 25 orders in the past 3 weeks for gifts and myself!
ot, but can anyone comment on how the cashmere hoodie runs? is it similar to the cashmere tees and meant to be fitted? thanks!
ReplyDeleteA lump of coal for j.crew's stocking for this offer, a week before Christmas. Bah humbug at thee, crew.
ReplyDeleteI'm on the lands end sleigh ride, too. Just got my second order last night - scored an intarsia cashmere t-neck with an adorable reindeer on sale for $40, originally $160. Got another cashmere sweater, plus some swim separates (I do love to try on swimwear when there's frost on my windows, tee hee)... every order has been 25% off, no minimum, and free ship. AT today has 40% off order entire order.
I just ordered myself a new Sherpa Puffer- the discount on the cobalt took it to 75 dollars and that is just way too good of a price. Even better- I showed it to Husband and he put it on HIS J. Crew card :) He also ordered me the beaded antler tee to wear on Christmas day. Other than that- not a whole lot I really needed to get my hands on right this instant.
ReplyDeletewow, I thought people would be a little more excited for this promo code .... I was! I agree it's tricky to say the free shipping is only if the order is $150 AFTER the discount, but for those of us who can return to the store, adding a ride-along to get the discount is no biggie. Ordered another Frances cami for $50 - love it, pair of shoes and a couple of tees! I'm happy!
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeletei did take advantage...and got some great deals. i had no problem buying enough to get the free shipping. :p Happy Holidays!
ReplyDeleteI took advantage of the EXTRA25 promo and bought the lovely Double-cloth camino coat in Bright Cobalt, a Bling Cardigan in Breeze, and the Evie Ruffled top in Light Berry. I am super excited about the camino coat, which will be my first major coat purchase from J. Crew. The Cobalt Blue is such a rich, striking color. If anyone out there has this coat in this color, please let me know what you think!
ReplyDeleteOT -- yesterday I received the Ruffled collier top in Lt. Amethyst. OMG, I am in love with this top! For once, I am totally impressed with the craftsmenship that went into a beaded/silk chiffon piece by J. Crew. The hand-wrapped beads are beautifully done, and the look is truly "vintage," without looking ragged. I see this top is sold out, but if it pops back, I highly recommend it for those who want something really special and who like a feminine, Victorian look. I sized up from my usual 4 to a 6, which is what I typically do with tops that have the dreaded side zipper. I don't mind the zipper on this one.
Happy holidays!
Hi JCAs, has anyone seen any markdowns on the Cotton Cady Alexa dress in the B&M? I've been eyeing it but it's still $180 online... and if J Crew pricing is anything to go by, I'm hoping they have it in store for much less. TIA!
ReplyDeleteDindin: I am so jealous of your duffle coat score! I did order it when they had the 30% off outwear promotion, but $140 is an even better price than what I paid.
ReplyDeleteRight now, there seems to be only a P10 online. Do you remember if there were a lot of sizes available when you ordered it? Maybe I can hope for a popback. :)
Jcmama: I ordered the watercolor leopard cardigan ...just adore the print. I used to make paintings in watercolor and the print reminds me of the same.
ReplyDeletei took advantage of this promo.
ReplyDeletei wanted the keaton sweater and with it being on sale already the extra 25% off hooked me in.
i also ordered the olive top. i had to search for it because it wasn't showing up. onsale for 39.99
i also had to do a little ride along. i ordered shoes that would be waaay to big on me so i am not tempted to keep them.
i am going to stop by my B&M tonight on my way home from work just to check out the sale section. the reports coming back of things on deep discount has me very curious.
OT: Can anyone tell me if the slub-cotton material shrinks when you run it through the wash?
ReplyDeleteAnd I definitely agree with JKW, the collier top is gorgeous. Just a plug but I have one in ivory in a size 2 (0 fit better for me) that I will be returning to the store tonight. $34 shipped if anyone is interested email nguyen.michelle.n at gmail
Well, I put on a ruffle henley tee this am and noticed like ALL other tees I've ordered this fall, it has several holes in it. I've gotten tees from KMart to garden in that have held up way better than these. What is going on with JC"s quality control? Their clothes are mighty expensive to be turning over to the rag pile because the Goodwill Store won't take things that are defective. I am so disappointed, disgusted and on the look out for a new place to spend my Spring wardrobe cash. Any ideas ladies?
ReplyDeleteJKW - you will love the cobalt blue camino coat! i ordered it for myself and it is wonderful - just as bright as in the photos online :) i get a lot of compliments and the fit is fantastic!
ReplyDeletekeaton sweater, and the tortoise pumps, got 2 and i dont know the size, mirror belt, what ever doesnt fit will go back, agree with everyone else, what are they waiting for with the sales
ReplyDeleteLindsey
ReplyDeletePersonally, adding a ride a long for an additional trip to the store is not my idea of fun just to meet a minimum. My life is way to busy to play games but if you have the free time good for you and others...I probably would have played along in my 20's and early 30's but no more
I caved, I caved this morning. Could not hold out any longer. And everything except for ONE thing was for me!!! Gah!! I am going to the hot place for sure. But I saved like $60 with the free ship + promo, and everything I had in my cart was stuff I've wanted for a while. Does that count for anything? :-) I got 2 apiece of the favorite tanks w/shelf bra inside because I like to sleep in those w/PJ pants ... plus 2 of the maribou feathery hair items/pins; I will use them to accessorize my perfect fit tanks! Also got 3 pair of shorts I've been eyeing for months (we wear shorts here a lot in the South, so worth it to buy on promo). Also got 2 new perfect fit tanks (navy and hydrangea) and a tee for my son. That may or may not be it!
ReplyDeleteWent to the B&M here in Raleigh as fast as my little car could carry me, hoping they were also doing extra 25% off sale but alas. I still got some great embellished tees for my mom and also a beaded henley sweater thingy. All stuff I know she'll love but would never buy for herself.
I'm so beat. NO. MORE. SHOPPING. PLEASE. I spent so much today it's insane. ARRGGHH!
I echo others' comments about Lands End. My mom just sent me the Kate cashmere cardigan yesterday and it is gorgeous. The style actually reminds me of JC, but the cashmere is much thicker. It also has grosgrain trim and really pretty buttons that are hard to see on the web site.
ReplyDeleteLESLIE omg I am so jealous of your deals!!! I want to get up to that outlet in Arden really badly (I'm in RDU, NC). :-)
ReplyDeleteSharon, thanks for your comments about the Camino coat in Cobalt Blue. I'm glad you are so happy with the color and fit. My fingers are crossed that it will work out!
ReplyDeleteI'm on the fence on ordering during this promo. I just purchased the Stadium-Cloth Friday Coat in black. And now I'm eying the Lady Day in Spiced Wine, but I'm worried that I will look like a big red grape. Last year I purchased the same coat in blueberry, and it was just too bright and blueberry, but the fit was nice. I also see two office blouses that look nice, but do I really need any of this?
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking of waiting for deep discounts. I think just watching Suze Orman is effecting me.
I also need a kindle so I may wait.
I didn't take advantage of this promo but I was tempted! I just didn't see anything that I had to have.
ReplyDeleteI do have the Camino Coat in Black and it is a wonderful coat!!! I love it and it fits true to size.
Elaine - in the Raleigh area too! Hate that Arden is 4+ hours away when I am in the same state!
ReplyDeleteWolfy, the wine color will look great! I got a black coat out of necessity early last winter, and watched the coat sales go crazy in the following months. I think I may buy a more colorful choice when the discounts get deeper. There's usually alot left and plenty of popbacks, so I'm definitely going to hold out for a steal.
ReplyDeleteI reordered some stuff I ordered early in the week and added on some embellished t's for $15 each. I keep telling myself I will not buy more of them but when they drop below $20 I can't resist. Also, I've never had a problem returning them to the store if they get holes after a few wearings (annoying, but at least they are being fair). It's a good thing I reordered the maya dress b/c I just got my package from my first order: I ordered an XL and they sent me an XS in a bag marked XL. When I reordered they only had a L left so hopefully that fits.
ReplyDeleteAlso got the wool ribbon script coat for $120, a great deal, and took a chance on the tissue stone necklace t again since price is now $22.50--hoping I will get one 100% intact this time!
Thanks Cheesy G. I think I will hold off and go for it when they start to clearance the season out.
ReplyDeletere: coats sales
ReplyDeleteWhile agree that the off-season deals on coats are the best (I found a stadium cloth lucinda for $99 last spring), inventory on all items have been slashed this year-who knows how much of it will actually "pop" back?
Sorry J. Crew, my money went to Ann Taylor today. 40% of orders of $150 with code Snowflake and free three day shipping. Now that's a sale!
ReplyDeleteyay email, what size do you need?
ReplyDeleteThat $150 AFTER bit is super annoying!
ReplyDeleteFYI: Ann Taylor LOFT (actually, just LOFT now...) is having a 40% off full priced items sale right now. Code=PRESENTS. And free 3rd day shipping at $125. Awesome deal!
ReplyDeleteI took the plunge. I couldn't resist. The weird thing is that I didn't buy any "wow" items. The only thing I really wanted was an ivory sherpa hoodie and that's backordered until february! But I went ahead and got it since it was still a decent deal.
ReplyDeleteI also got a bunch of accessories - pointelle tights, metallic gold mirror belt, two dolce cable knit sweaters, and I got the twisted charmeuse shift dress in fawn. I've been eying that dress for a while now and it was a good price at $67. I never would have paid full price for that dress but it looks very sophisticated. I think it's one of those dresses that will really work or it won't. After you add a pair of cords for the hubby, I'm way above the limit to get FS.
I really need to stop shopping!! I was even tempted to get the double cloth carlin coat but I'm actually not that crazy about the double cloth. I like the cut of the carlin, it's much cuter than the wool/cashmere blend coat but I ordered the double camino coat a while back and it wasn't as soft as I thought it would be. (considering all the hypo JC puts on the fact that it comes their special wool place in Italia) Anyways, I'm returning the camino coat due to a construction defect. There are sharp pieces of paper-like something inside the lining of both shoulders which poke my shoulders. I'm hoping that it was just a fluke and that their coats are better quality. Oh well, can't wait to see what the "next" promo will be. :)
The AT code is seriously clearing out their stock. Last night I had my eye on some cashmere cardigans, already marked down with the 40% off came to $60 each. They were available in a full range of sizes and colors and by this afternoon they were ALL gone. Oh well, I will have to check the B&M for some tomorrow. They have some cute stuff for spring in already I'm tempted to buy with the 40% off but am trying to hold back on ordering something I won't wear for 3-4 more months.
ReplyDeleteAs for the LOFT, ick, I dislike their stuff. So much rayon/polyester/acrylic; you can tell it is made cheap. I hope the people on here upset about the acrylic in JC sweaters aren't buying from LOFT b/c they will be disappointed.
Charlotte,
ReplyDeleteI have to let you know...I had those same pokey shoulder things in a COLLECTION piece jacket I got a couple of seasons ago. I about died they drove me crazy. In my case, the lining was not a full one and I could flip the coat inside out and actually see the UNFINISHED bit of prickly pokey bits!!! It was so cheapy made. All JCrew had to do was bind the edging which I paid a tailor to do and save my coat. Yes, cost me money but I wanted the coat.
Isn't this blog wonderful to compare notes. JC is still taking short cuts and making items as cheap as they can or maybe ours our true defects.
No, I will not be buying. Quite frankly, I feel like J. Crew is lying to us when they send out the emails that read "Free Shipping". It's $150 to ship for free. I can't believe more people have complained. They need to stop their false advertising claims.
ReplyDeleteOT, but there was a piece in Marketplace of the WSJ earlier tbs week about retail this holiday, and the CEO of Amn Taylor/LOFT was quoted as saying they were going to aggresively court business. He said they had promotions lined up and could "deploy" (not really the word I wanted but can't think of it) them quickln as needed. He said something like they were going to do whatever it takes. Interesting - lots of promos at LOFT including $35 cashmere. I was chatting with the saleslady and she said they were really busy but it was mostl people trying on not reply buying. She said they'd never seen promos like the o es heyve featured recently. When I asked about inventory levels, she said they were about the same as last year but last year they were moving it without the same promos. Sorry for the long post, I just found that interesting.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I agree with those saying that the FS with $150 only AFTER applying the promo is lame, I did order with the code - got a silk pleated posy top for $14.99 down from $89, and the midnight tweed mini for $52, and a couple of metallic clutches for $37 a piece... pretty good for pieces that I'll use over and over. Oh, and in-store I got some black Harper heels for $49 down from $228 - the shoe prices definitely seem better in-store.
ReplyDeleteI received the Double-cloth ingenue coat in Spiced Wine today and it's so pretty. The color is a lovely shade of plummy wine. Definitely a unique coat b/c of the collar. I was secretly hoping that it wouldn't work out since I already have the wool harbor peacoat in dark rust and the duffle coat on its way...
ReplyDeleteGreen Dino,
ReplyDeleteI hear you. I bought the same color for my mom. She gets compliments every time she wears is. The coat is pretty unique. I love the color and the length. Bought the dusty blossom for me. Also, I have the duffle coat in black. Great coat. It just perfect in every way.
I wonder if J Crew knows the business it's losing out on because of these bad promos. I'm doing my Christmas shopping elsewhere, and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one...
ReplyDeleteStill, I'm keep my fingers crossed for a better promo soon! *nudges J Crew*
dindin: I take a P2 in that coat. I really like the purply blue color!
ReplyDeleteI picked up my remaining winter sweaters with this promo. Yes, the promo rules are shady, but it ended up working for me. But now I don't know what I'm going to do when everything is discounted further after Christmas or New Year, which is when I usually buy my J Crew sweaters. I guess I'll buy backups. :-)
ReplyDeleteI see the Marzipan cardis are finally moving. I thought they would be much more popular, I love them ! I guess not. I hope J Crew doesn't consider them a failure and drops them, I think they're great. I would love to see them in Spring colors.
yay.email, i have most definitely seen 0s and 2s popback.
ReplyDeletegood luck.
i'll do what I can to help, let me know.
I re-ordered the Jaspe zip sweatshirt and the Odessa tunic...both of which I had ordered earlier, but still had tags on, in order to get the 25% disc. Basically, you have to order $200 of "stuff" to get FS and the discount, so I also ordered the patent tortoise belt and a few other items. The SAs at my local B&Ms are always very nice about all my returns.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone have the Joely patent peep toe pumps? I'm wondering if they're TTS or should I size up/down? I've never bought JC shoes, so I'm not sure. TIA
ReplyDeletetxmom, tread gently with the Jaspe hoodie. I loved mine, but on second washing (front loader) it had ripped at the corners of one pocket, and the grommet protector for one side of the drawstring had riped almost completely away from the fabric. I was REALLY disappointed since I loved the fit and fabric, but a "gourmet" hoodie shouldn't be disposable.
ReplyDeleteAnother dreaded cancellation email. Last week they cancelled the Jackie in golden cypress, today the cashmere cardi in light berry. Which is bunk, since according to their website, there's at least 9 in stock. GRR, this is not very merry of you, JC.
ReplyDeleteJKW and Sharon - I have the camino in cobalt and love it! The color is beautiful, I've gotten so many compliments. My only gripe is the coat isn't as warm as I'd hoped (I live in the Northeast) so it's not going to cut it on cold days, but it's still a very nice piece and I like the fit, style, etc.
ReplyDeleteJcma, I have 3 pairs and in the tortoiseshell especially I found they run small. Very weird for peep toes. I had to go UP a half size from my norm. Hopefully someone else can chime in too. Like all my JCrew shoes, they are beautiful but too uncomfortable for me to wear everyday.
ReplyDeleteWanted to add for those who may not have one, I got a sherpa hoodie a few weeks ago and I am in LOVE. I was lucky to snag it for $39.99 in-store ... I just kept thinking OMG, $40 for a sweatshirt??? So I walked away from it a few times, but once I tried it on, I could not leave it again. Something about the way the arms are lined in jersey ... I feel like it's hugging me every time I wear it! I know how that sounds but I do love this hoodie. I tried on a knockoff at Old Navy and also one I found at Kohl's late the other night while Christmas shopping, and neither had the lined sleeves, and so they're not acceptable substitutes to me. If the prices get down in the $40 range I will buy another - mine is gray, I'd love to get ivory or brown/tan!
ReplyDeletejcma:
ReplyDeletefor the Joley Tortoise patent heels I went UP half size since I got it on sale and it was the only one left. I kind of have wide feet and so while it is comfy and it fits it's slightly large length wise. I'm planning to buy an insert for the inside. I own another Joley peep flats in my regular size and though it fits I get a little sore from the patent rubbing off on my feet if I'm wearing it for few hours. HTH!
I went up half a size in the Joley peep toes too.
ReplyDeleteLaura,
ReplyDeleteWere you the one who had ordered the Midnight iced houndstooth coat? I'd love to hear feedback on it, if it was (or if anyone else has it).
I think I've been able to move past being annoyed at J Crew's lack of deep discounts by not comparing them to other retailers. I've been Christmas shopping like crazy and have been leaving Ann Taylor, Loft and BR empty handed despite their discounts. I just like J Crew's merchandise more I guess! I got excited for this code because I've been eying the cashmere henley, and marzipan and alpaca cardigans so I was happy to jump on this discount with free shipping to boot! That said, I am hoping that their after Christmas sale will bring a few more markdowns.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I (re)ordered..I cannot believe how lame this promo is right before Christmas. There isn't anything to buy people in the sale section and certainly no major updates to speak of so I think it rather ridiculous. AT and ATL 40% off today and free ship $125 before discount. I don't consider their style to be the same per se but this deal is pretty standard out there at other retailers. I think JC needed to offer 25% off of everything..they seem pretty full of themselves this holiday season.
ReplyDeleteSummer,
ReplyDeleteWow. I can't believe that! I thought I was going crazy b/c I thought I might be "overreacting" It was my first coat purchase from JC so I didn't really know what to think. I wanted to like the coat but I found myself not wearing it since the shoulders were driving me crazy. Instead, I ordered a sherpa lined puffer (in antique stone) and I've been wearing that every day. I love how cozy it is. The sherpa lining really makes a big difference.
I called CS about the shoulder problem with the camino coat and of course, he didn't know what to say. It's such a bizarre complaint - "um, I got this coat but the shoulders are poking my skin...?" Anyways, I was going to take it back this weekend but NC just got hit by a snowstorm! So I will have to wait a little longer until I can drive to the nearest JC.
I'm so glad that we can share our stories about JC here.
la belle helene, i own the midnight iced houndstooth coat...i've been wearing it, so it's now a keeper, though i have a love hate relationship with it! the fit is pretty much TTS (i sized up one so that i could wear sweaters/layers underneath) and it's actually warmer then i expected (which is a plus)...i love the look of it (someone even stopped me on the street and asked if was balmain!), however the mohair pills/sheds terribly! i'm constantly pulling off tufts of the stuff!
ReplyDeletei also own the wisteria coat but haven't worn that yet--contemplating whether or not i should keep it b/c i fear the same mohair problem.
so, i recommend it based on the look and fit, but do forewarn about the tufting mohair problem! if you don't mind going over the coat w/a comb or shaver it's worth a try!
hope that helps!
Thank you, Stefanie! That definitely does help.
ReplyDeleteMommyDearest, Laura and JCmama, Thanks for the info. I hope I get the pairs I ordered in my size. I am hopeful I'll get the right items this time. My last 5 orders have either had wrong items shipped or defective orders shipped.
ReplyDeletesummer: Sucks that returning an item is such an ordeal for you, I don't have a lot of extra time, but it's really not a big deal, I go to the store at least a couple times a week anyway and just keep whatever I want to return in my car so I have it when I stop by... they do the return while I look around... it's sooo not a big deal and totally worth saving almost $20 on shipping! $20 is the same to a 20 or 30 year old!! But that's me :)
ReplyDeleteLindsey B,
ReplyDeleteYes, time is money and I have health issues as well as family and a job as many on this blog do. No time to mess around with excess returns and no way do I have time to go to a store multiple times a week. Maybe when I was 20 but not now!
jcma,
ReplyDeleteThe defective items just really suck rocks:) don't they. I totally get where you are coming from....so sorry.
Charlotte,
ReplyDeleteGlad I could be of help. I know. I thought I was going crazy too....what is with not finishing rough edges on coats????
I wonder if J Crew will be able to ship packages since the Roanoke area has been hit with the snowstorm, it could delay things a bit.
ReplyDeletecasual-crew, I wondered the same thing. The lady who took my red phone order today said that (today)they are still shipping for Christmas delivery....I guess we'll see
ReplyDeleteI used it to get the Tuxedo jacket for $75 as opposed to $230! I can't wait to get it.
ReplyDeleteLa Belle Helene I contemplated the Midnight Iced Houndstooth but have not ordered. I'm on the fence because I'm finding the Collection items to not be as great as I think they will be. I have the Frosted Donegal coat (haven't worn, saving for Christmas) but it's not as great as the picture IMHO. So unless the feedback on the Midnight Iced Houndstooth is over the moon, I will wait until it gets marked down substantially. If I had paid full price for the Donegal, I think I would have returned it. As it was, I got it during the 30% off with FS. Like you, I love the tweeds, but the quality this season has been a shock.
ReplyDeleteStefanie, you feedback is great!
It's funny, my mom and step-dad went to J.Crew to get me some stuff (sooo excited for Christmas day!)
ReplyDeleteAnd my mom was upset because last year she had a red card.
I think these promos are good, but the 25% off card was amazing!
