J.Crew is still celebrating the post-HOLIDAYS by offering customers 20% off any purchase {no minimum} and free shipping {on $150+, *after*any discount is applied} with promo code EXTRA20. This offer is good through Sunday, 1/3/10.
This promotion is one of J.Crew's longer promotion (lasting over a week!) From the comments, it sounds like some JCAs have been able to snag some winter deals. Although it sounds like many more JCAs are not overly excited with the offer and are holding out (maybe waiting for the new Resort Collection to debut?) :)
I was able to take advantage of this offer when it first came out and got a few items with my gift card. So I am very pleased about the promotion. (Even though it is "final sale".) However, I haven't seen anything that is catching my eye since. (And it might have something to do with how the sale updates have been minimal in the past few days.) ;)
Mini Update: The sale section (click here) did update this morning with quite a number of additions. As usual, items are quickly selling out. :)
Will you be taking advantage of this promotion before it ends this Sunday? Are there any sale items you are interested in getting?
I went into my B&M tonight and OMG it was wiped out. There was almost nothing left! I returned a couple of online purchases and was able to pick up the appliqued snowflake tee for a friend (none in my size, boo) and got SUPER excited to see a rack full of sherpa hoodies, but none in my size in the colors I wanted (ivory and light brown, M). I tried on a suiting or wool flannel dress that I can't seem to locate / figure out the name of - it was too small but I'm not giving up yet. I saw the wool Ravine (?sp) dress in person and was not impressed; it looked like it had been through the ringer. in addition to the tee for my friend, all I got was a beaded hair elastic and a tee for my son. Oh well. The SA said no one was shoping, everyone was just returning. Interesting!
ReplyDeleteAlso, totally O/T, but if anyone is looking for an ochre double-serge pencil skirt, size 6, there is someone on eBay selling one. I know these are hard to find so I thought I'd post it in case anyone's looking. :-) Seller's name is kgolas. HTHs someone.
Yay! The new rollout is here! Not a ton, but I'm so ready for something new. I'm still going through but for us chesty girls, that Rosette ruffle cardigan just isn't going to work, hahah!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to a B&M tomorrow. I so hope new arrivals are in.
ReplyDeleteHeidi,
ReplyDeleteMy computer isn't showing the update :( Was it a big one? Thanks
Yay for new arrivals!!! Boo for a lack luster sale section.
ReplyDeleteHeidi that makes me feel better, I looked at that and just laughed at the image in my head. I can't figure out if the Sweeping Ruffles shirt is cute or insane. And the Crosshatch jacket in Pewter could be cute. I think I'm just happy to see anything new :)
ReplyDeleteRe: the new items...
ReplyDeletehttp://www.jcrew.com/AST/Browse/WomenBrowse/Women_Feature_Assortment/NewArrivals/shorts/PRDOVR~19903/19903.jsp
is this for real?! if this is a precursor for what to expect from jcrew for the next several months, my wallet will be very happy. from the first picture it looks like bleach had its way with the shorts. then with the close up...well, i'm not quite sure what to make of that. that rosette ruffled cardigan is another eyesore. i also see mention of "pops of neon" on the newly updated homepage - sounds like the same recycled verbiage from earlier this year :(
JC did some minor adjustments to the check-out process, and you can order Madewell items through J Crew, I found it through the Designer Gallery.
ReplyDeleteAs for the new arrivals,I like the new Bermuda shorts even though Short season is 5 mts away. The Gingham shirt looks interesting, I like the color options. I still like BR resort collection better, and it has been years since I was excited about BR.
Pulled the trigger and snagged several popbacks that I've been stalking. However things kept flying out of my cart! Guess others were stalking the same popbacks too.
ReplyDeleteFinally snagged the wool ribbon ravine dress in my size, however I had to pay $95.99 incl the EXTRA20 whereas some JCAs had reported it being $69.99 instore. Could not get CS to adjust it until they had it verified with the store, however my problem is that I need petites which the store doesn't carry anyway. Just wondering if anyone else had the same problems and did anyone manage to get the price adjustment? TIA!
Just ordered the Matchstick bermudas....lots of popbacks this am. Many more tempting items but amholding off for now...there's always something else good down the line (but the Odessa solid top is pretty!)
ReplyDeleteOT - I have a question on sizing for the perfect pencil skirts in petites. I'd previously ordered the cotton double serge pencil skirt in P0, however I found this too tight and short and showed dreaded vpl (i like granny undies... lol). Does the perfect pencil have a similar sizing, and should I size up to P2 or even P4? My concern is that I don't want it too tight in the hips and showing every outline... TIA!

ReplyDeleteIn the B&M stores in my area, all sales items are an additional 30%, I was able to get some cute stuff. I found a pair of pants for $6.99!
ReplyDeleteFor once I didn't miss all the popbacks, lol! Got the Jaspe sweatshirt, Merino ruffle cardigan, and some tanks I've been stalking. We'll see if they actually get sent, lol.
ReplyDeleteI haven't glanced at the new arrivals yet. I'm just not that inspired by the resort stuff. For me, JCrew is all about Fall/Winter.
gook, I normally take a regular 0 (which is still a teensy bit loose in the hip and waist area) and find the P2 to be perfect in the pencils. I'm 5'4 and about 120 pounds and the length and fit is perfect.
ReplyDeleteAlso, gook, my experience has been that unless you call directly from the store using the red phone, JC won't honor the price difference between an item in the store and on-line. It's my biggest pet peeve with them. Besides the wool ravine dress, the banquette was marked down to $69 in store but is still full price on-line. Ridiculous!
ReplyDeletegook, I find the sizing to be the same between the wool and cotton versions. I take a 4R and order a 6P often to get a slightly shorter fit. Although I'm fairly tall, sometimes 24" just feels too long for me.
ReplyDeleteThe wool pencils are thicker fabric and they are also lined so are less likely to show vpl.
Hi Gook,
ReplyDeleteI have had the same experiences as Lauren S. regarding price adjustments. I'm guessing your dress is final sale but my advice is to ask customer service to put a note in your account that says you can go to your local store and then return and rebuy the dress. Maybe it will work?
Also, has anyone been in their B&M yesterday or today? My store changed from 30% off all sale items to 20% off so I'm curious if it was all stores.
ReplyDeleteI noticed the J Crew at Mission Viejo was down to 20% off too, not like there was anything left there either...
ReplyDeleteSame here... they changed the extra % off since yesterday from 30% to 20%. You'd think they'd give more % off since not much left at the sales section.... I was lucky to get a couple pairs of heels and flats on sale in my size at the Collection store @ Madison Ave. I can't believe the Pippa mirror ballet flats are $49.99 before the 20% off! The Rebekah mary janes & Bettina velvet t-strap heels are both $99.99 before 20% off. Also saw the jewel box ballet flats & Molly flannel heels... The Molly flannel heels is definitely more comfortable than the Molly peep toes. The prices are definitely cheaper in stores than online. I think I need a bigger shoes closet now!
ReplyDeleteAHHHHHHHHHHH why did I hit another mall this morning??? But I did, at extra 20% off sale, and I found the purple-y leopard print Evie top in my size for $29.99, an ivory sherpa hoodie (one size too big but better than too small!) and the wool ravine dress (black) at $69.99, as well as one perfect-fit tank (lavender) for $9.99 and a pair of matchstick cords in my size @ $19.99 - all minus 20%.
ReplyDeleteCame home to a box on the porch ... must say this is the longest it's ever taken JC to ship to my house. This is the order I placed on Christmas Day and it just came; usually I get stuff in 2 days. Anyway, I'm about to open it and see what I'm keeping and hope I hate some stuff so I can return it. Tee hee.
And that is IT! No more for me! I am officially cutting myself off until, like, summer. :-P
Happy lunchtime shopping at my B&M! Found the Crinkle cascade dress in black for an extra 20% off - wow it looks nice on! And now I am set for New Year's :)
ReplyDeleteFor anyone interested, 45th & Madison in NYC had a bunch of the frosted jacquard skirts in both the color they currently have online and a light gold. They also had the watercolor leopard skirt - fit really nicely - and I'm already regretting walking away from it... couldn't rationalize more shopping when I have 2 J.Crew packages waiting on my doorstep and another on the way.
Boooooooooo. Insead of the ivory Collier top in my size, I have an ivory Annalise top in a 0p! :-/ I am so disappointed. I've been waiting and waiting for this top to arrive and now it isn't coming. :-/
ReplyDeleteElaine, how awful! I'm now very anxious to see what's waiting for me at home... I've been REALLY lucky as far as order cancellations, missing or wrong items, etc. but it seems like these things are happening more and more often!
ReplyDeleteI had my very first order canceled yesterday :( It was the ikat skirt in maize from last Spring. I had a bad feeling when it took five days to ship. I will give JCrew credit, though, for emailing and calling to inform/apologize.
ReplyDeleteI ordered a few pop-backs this morning, though, and now I'm worried it'll be the same thing all over again.
Dara, I had actually had great luck up until this order. The worst experience I'd had was ordering a pair of shorts that took almost 6 months to ship, but I did finally get them, and I love them. The CS rep is doing a 'we'll find it' for me to see if she can find me the collier top in my size, but I have to keep calling back every 2 days to see if it's been located and, if not, to have them start a search for a different size and a different color. Could not have her do any color of my size because she said I'd be auto-billed for all 3 and since it's final sale, they'd all be non-returnable. ARRRGGGGH. So I'm a little peeved. But still happy about the watercolor Evie, because I'd been eyeing it on eBay at $45.99 and sure was glad to snag it for $24!
ReplyDeleteThanks Lauren, Michelle and xoxo for advice re the sizing and price matching! My online PS has agreed to price match, however provided I can tell her which store has the lower prices.
ReplyDeleteWould you JCAs be able to tell me which local B&M was it that you saw the perfect pencils and wool ribbon ravine dress on sale and how much? TIA?
I went to my local B&M today to do some returns and boy the sale section was picked over. I did manage to get the Carlin coat cheaper than online price and some tees, but it was not 30% off FS (only 20% off) which SA said was only for the weekend.
ReplyDeleteHi everyone! Long time lurker, first time poster.
ReplyDeleteI have made 3 online purchases in the past few days and just noticed tonight that some of the items (particular colours of cords and tops) I purchased are now on sale for less than they were a few days ago. Will JC do a price adjustment over the phone (as I don't have B&M here)? Or should I just ship back the higher priced items when I receive them and place a new order at the lower price?
Thanks:)

ReplyDeleteSomeone please tell me that the following items are terrible so I can stop stalking them, lol. Also, if they are TTS/large/small, shrink, stretch out too much etc. Here they are:
ReplyDelete- Downtown trouser cord
- Vintage cord pencil skirt
- Vintage matchstick cords
- Stripe dolce sweater
- Silk flair skirt
- Perfect pencil skirt
Thank you for any help:)!
Michi - Vintage matchstick cords and and Perfect pencil skirt both run true to size and fit beautifully. However, the color of the remaining pencil skirts on sale, Dusty Blossom, is a very strange creamish pink that I did not find flattering on my my pale skin tone. Hope this helps.
ReplyDeleteMichi - I agree with melis on the sizing of the vintage matchstick cords and perfect pencil skirt, they are pretty much TTS and lovely. I can also add that the vintage cord pencil skirt is really nice. I have the dark aubergine and bought the glazed pecan today as well. A really cute and flattering piece.
ReplyDeletemelis - I placed an order this morning and included the perfect pencil in dusty blossom but then read your comments and canceled the order. I've reordered without the skirt. I didn't stop to think about why that color is left in most sizes when the other colors are long gone. I am also quite pale so it probably won't work for me. I added a Jackie twinset instead, the cardi's are on sale for $50 although not showing in the sale section (at least not for me). Unfortunately the ship date is February but that will be here soon enough!
If ANYBODY is on the fence about a sherpa long hoodie, DO IT. Mine arrived yesterday and I am blown away by the soft coziness. Well worth the price- one of the Crew's quality pieces. Same goes for the sherpa puffer jacket. I feel like I might just survive the winter after all.
ReplyDeleteThanks melis and ShuLvr, that helps a lot:) I'm extremely pale (read: Paler than the foundations sold in stores/departments stores so I have to buy mine from e-tailers) so it doesn't sound like dusty blossom will work for me either. Thanks for the info!
ReplyDeleteOT warning esp. to New JCA's. Stay away from POPBACKS.
ReplyDeleteItem I recieved is totally different!
Not even the same color or style of garment. Really fed up JCrew!
Summer: Not to sound like an idiot, but what's a popback?
ReplyDeleteNo, good question. It is an item that has been sold out in a color or size or completely. JCrew updates their website sometimes once each morning or several mornings a week. The coveted item "pops back in stock." A person orders it (usually a return) and most of the time you get that correct item but other times....well, more than once, say about 4 times in the past year I got a totally different item. Sick of it. Happens A LOT on final sale items. Others on this blog and others on the blog roll have reported this happening to them too.
ReplyDeleteSummer: So you order it but they send you something else but since it's FS you're stuck with it? That's not right! Darn JC!
ReplyDeleteHi Elaine, are you still looking for the Collier top in Ivory in size 0?
