Weekly Share: Other JCrew-like Retailers

This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent" posts), where we can share our finds from other retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew (like LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann Taylor, and the like.)

If you have recently encountered items that are similar to J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including experiences with certain merchandise pieces, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. For those gals seeking the Perfect Patent Pumps in Dusty Rose like me... (I have a pair and I want a back up desperately for when these have been worn to shreds, which is pretty much their status right now...) Talbots Patent leather pointy-toe pumps in Cameo Rose are the closest match I have found... and I've tried many many alternatives. The color is an EXACT match to the dusty rose. The Talbot heel is a little bit higher and the patent leather is a little bit shinier than the JC version... but if you can't find the JCs - this is the best alternative I've found. And they have a great promo on shoes right now. The shoes run TTS - and they have 10.5 - yay Talbots! :)

Clinique online is running a pick your own bonus items to go in a cosmetic bag with a $21.50 purchase and free ship with a $40 one. Lots of nice items to pick from too in each category of makeup to go in the bag. Really a great offer. LOVE. I just placed my order yesterday.

  4. H&M has a great knockoff of the very popular Jcrew bauble necklace in a beautiful turquoise as part of their summer collection and it costs a mere $12.50. I got it last week and it was the last one in my store (selling fast) so if you are interested try to go to a store as soon as you can. I have the real thing and took pics of both to compare and will post soon on my blog.

  6. Have you browsed Anthropologie's website lately? They have some darling spring threads! I am loving the Striped cross over jacket, Cissus button-up gingham, Goldfield skirt and Lundin Links Sweater. Bold primary colors, and beautiful prints! And actually some really reasonable price points come to think of it!

  7. I quickly shopped BR at lunch today, and my store was running an unadvertised (and unmarked--no signage, no mention by the SA) extra 25% off marked down items. My store had so many marked down tops, you could barely flip through... Found a super cute printed version of the still-full priced http://bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=17051&vid=1&pid=833155&scid=833155012 smocked skirt marked $15.99, ended up being $11.99, as well as a cute long-sleeved Spring sweater for $14.24--awesome sale!

  8. I bought Nine West Declan sandals on a whim last weekend, and afterward thought for sure I'd return them because J Crew shoes have ruined me for every other brand. But they're great! I paid $53 and got free shipping. I'm going to wear them in the office. I got the brown croco. The heel is 4" heel but mitigated by the 3/4" platform. They don't really feel high, and they're very solid. I'm considering trimming the squares down into more circular shapes so they don't look quite so retro. I might get the black too. I took my usual Nine West shoe size, 6.5, they're about 1/4 size too big, not enough to make me want to exchange them for a smaller size.
