"Thanks!" to many of you, who shared the following email from J.Crew this morning.
J.Crew Factory (click here to shop online) is open for the weekend with new arrivals. But wait there's more! They are offering up to 40% off on select factory items. (Prices will be automatically marked down, no code required.)
They are also offering free shipping on ALL factory items with promo code SUMMER. The free shipping offer ends Sunday, May 22, 2011.
As JCAs know... if you live near a Factory Store, check them out first. The B&M Factory Stores tend to have better promotions and sale prices.
What are your thoughts on J.Crew's Factory Summer offerings? Will you check them out?
Fun to look at the items and see a few critter socks as well:)
ReplyDeleteI would like to see them add crewcuts to the outlet.
Glad shipping is free too.
Is it strange that I am a bit disappointed that they are putting up factory store-ized versions of JC Collection pieces? I know that there are evidently material and finishing differences, but to me, it makes the Collection stuff seem less special.
ReplyDeleteOT there are two Roulette Clutches for sale on Ebay with nyblackcat and I have purchased two items from her (NWT) and they were in perfect condition.
ReplyDeleteLisa, I agree!
ReplyDeleteI get that J. Crew wants to capitalize on past favorites, but it does it not make my Collection pieces less special. A company playing cheap knock-off as well as runway quality. Very disappointing....
I already checked them out... nothing I really need or want.
ReplyDeleteI posted this somewhere else but if you are looking for a Saturday sweater I liked the linen cotton sweatshirt at the Factory store. They were 40% off and I used my teacher discount on top of that. I had to size down to an XXS in the Saturday but found the XS worked fine in these. Some of the new paisley perfect shirts are quite pretty as well. The candy stripe dress (or whatever they're calling it) seemed super stiff.
ReplyDeleteI did end up ordering a few things even though I'll be hitting the factory store this next week. I got that black and white polka-dot poplin skirt, as I already have on in sold gray and really love it.
ReplyDeleteAlso got a printed pencil skirt in the most gorgeous paisely pattern in oranges and blue, and a printed perfect shirt in the same pattern. And the good news is, I was able to use a one-time only cardholder promo for 20% and free shipping. Let's hope everything works out!
what items are cloans of collection?
ReplyDeleteWould love to see a review of the factory maxi tshirt dresses, either the striped or the solid. If you find one, please link!
ReplyDeleteegyptomaniac, I got that pencil skirt too. I have the bikini in the same print (it was called Palermo paisley) and it is striking. I hope that the colors are as vivid as on the bikini. I was so sad to miss it two or three (it was waitlisted and then disappeared) weeks ago when I first saw it on the website and I stalked the factory website ever since (I really thought it was gone forever). Now I hope that it doesn't disappoint IRL.
ReplyDeleteIt is like going to Nordsroms Rack and seeing cheaper looking and made pieces they have brought in.
ReplyDeleteEma- That's where I've seen that print before! Thanks! I had the same experience with the skirt.I saw it a few weeks ago, and debated too long on weather I wanted to spend so much on a factory skirt. By the time I made up my mind, it was gone. So when I saw it this time, I didn't hesitate. The print really is beautiful and hopefully worth it!

ReplyDeleteOff topic, a warning to those of you who shop on eBay about seller cairparavel08. Apparently if you like your item, there's no problem, but if you need to do a return good luck! Expect to open a case with eBay. She has a stated return policy but refuses to respond to communications thus preventing the return. My sister is having trouble with her, had to open a case, and it will end up being more than a week of nonsense before she gets her money back. I see other buyers have had the same problem. So be warned, if you want to buy something from this seller, keep in mind that if there's a problem with your item you might be in for an ordeal.
ReplyDeleteSmallish update this morning, I got a pair of Sardinia espadrilles but I'm not hopeful that I'll like them. Size 7, dusty blossom. If anyone else is interested in buying them from me if I don't like them, send email to me. I think my email address is visible in my profile now.
Subscribing. :)
ReplyDeleteTamara -- I just recently went thru that with same buyer! She said her item was NWOT -- yeah right -- no way.
ReplyDeleteAfter countless emails, she finally responded and refunded my money -- I had to pay to ship it back. At that point I was just glad to see it over!
oops -- meant seller
ReplyDeleteShe told my sister she had just had a baby. My sister bought the story, I didn't. The seller has time to do all sorts of other things eBay-related, ship out packages, place new listings, leave feedback for others, and probably shop the distribution center for new items too, but can't respond to messages? She has the return package now, let's see how long it takes her to issue the refund. If not soon my sister will escalate the case and eBay will force the seller to issue the refund, but only after wasting a big chunk of my sister's time. I think I'm angrier about this than she is! Seller is on my sh*t list now.
ReplyDeleteI actually had an okay experience with that buyer a few weeks ago. I purchased a candy wrap dress that had some snags in the fabric and yes I would have preferred more communication, I was able to get a refund without too much hassle. Good luck!
ReplyDeletetamara, I bought from the same seller twice in the past year or so and everything was perfect. I suppose it is like you say, if you don't have a problem...
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, I had a terrible experience with dufusshopaholic and I should have known better when I read her comment that "threats of bad feedback will not be tolerated." I totally missed the hint. Seller sent me a bag listed as New and Retail. Came used and with a very large black marker line on the leather label - visible every time I opened the bag. Her only communication to me was to "remove it with permanent marker remover". Gee, if there was such a thing I think the people shopping at the clearance center would use it. Had to open a case and pay return shipping to get a refund.
Taylor,
ReplyDeleteI tried on the maxi tshirt dress in the blue stripe a couple days ago. I really liked it. I tried XS and I'm usually XS/S in JCrew items. It fit great, the top was fitted and the skirt wasn't too much fabric. I have issues with my belly since I've had two kids (10 months post partum) and it skimmed right over it. I didn't buy it but I will probably go back and buy it soon since I've been obsessing about it since. It was 40% off in the store. They had it styled with a skinny brown belt holding up the top part a little bit so it looked like a skirt and a shirt. I don't have photos but hope this helps!
Katarzyna, did you have to open a case to get your money back or did cairparavel08 actually respond to your messages before you felt forced to open a case. I can't believe my sister actually had to call this seller! Neither one of us has ever had to do that. Ever. And we've both been on eBay for a long time.
ReplyDeleteBaybaybay, great comment about your seller's suggestion to remove the marker line. She didn't disclose it in the listing? That's HER problem, not yours! It's a pain to open a case, it takes a long time to resolve, I'm glad you got your money back. Thanks for your comments, I've made note.
There are some good sellers out there. Not sure if this person is a JCA, but my sister snagged some Britten tall boots for me from sassybellas and they're great! Perfect condition and the seller ships so fast too, they arrived just 2 days after the purchase. If the seller does visit this blog and doesn't want to disclose her identity, let me just offer a personal thank you because I am now the happy owner of 3 pairs of Brittens. (One I actually got on the J Crew web site.) I already know I'm going to wear the h*ll out of these boots and I need backup pairs, hence the multiples. :) I can finally remove the Brittens from my popback target list! They were the #1 item too, and I never thought I'd get even one pair.
Tamara, no I didn't have to open a case. I complained about the snags in the fabric and the seller messaged me back saying thats what she thought the fabric was like but if I wanted I could return it and she would give me a refund minus 5% restocking. She ended up refunding me the full amount. I wish communication had been better after I mailed it in, I was worried she would accept the package but not communicate further. She did refund me the full amount pretty quickly. Good luck with your situation.
ReplyDeleteHey Alexis,
ReplyDeleteI just noticed this morning (Sunday, May 22) that the internet browser icon J. Crew uses (at the start of their url and identifying their website pages in my "bookmarks" collection has been changed.
No longer the iconic "anchor" but a "J". I think this is very significant in terms of their branding. J. Crew is no longer just prep, incase there was any lingering question!
@CrewCricket the J. has been there for quite a while already, I think last Monday. I as going to mention it but thought it might be too obsessive.
ReplyDeleteHi there Alexis
ReplyDeleteJust popping in to ask you to take me off your blog roll
I'm not ordering any more J Crew till they offer international shipping, each package was almost costing me the price of an Hermes scarf!
I don't want to take up a space that can be used by an insitu blogger.
Thank you for the support!
Captain Crew,
ReplyDeleteI'm am so late to the table!
Can we be too obsessive? Isn't that who we are? Alexis, help me out here!
Hey, I didn't notice the "J" either until you mentioned it! But my bookmarks all still have the anchor. I just created a new bookmark from a new arrival top, and it's showing the anchor.
ReplyDeleteCrew Cricket, obsessive can be good! I like to call it "hyper aware" to make it sound like a desirable trait. :)
Katarzyna, 5% restocking? Did she mention that in her return policy? What a crock! Sellers need to be up-front with everything. I might be willing to buy something that had a 5% restocking fee, but I want to know before I buy, not after. But if the item is SNAD, she can't charge a restocking fee, she has to refund the full price plus shipping. My sister did get her money back today. She's happy to not have to waste time on that matter any more. It took 12 days of messages, phone calls, case opening and updates, and checking eBay and PayPal accounts. Seller should have refunded my sister an additional $50 for all of the work she was forced to do.
ReplyDelete@CrewCricket - no disrespect intended. I was just giving my perspective on why I didn't comment about the change.
ReplyDeletetamara- so strange about the anchor still appearing on your bookmarks. I kind of miss mine! I like the "hyper aware" phrase. I know there is nothing at the Crew that is unintentional, so it's fun to see what they do.
ReplyDeleteCaptainCrew- no disrespect taken! I laughed when I read your comment. Please report all obsessive sightings as you see fit!
Hullo everyone,
ReplyDeleteI know that this is not relevant the post at hand, but I couldn't find an email. So sorry that this is so off topic!
I just wanted to ask if J. Crew hires teenagers still in high school. I'm currently 17 and would really like to work there, but my friends and family are telling me not to get my hopes up.
Thanks for anyone that takes the time to answer this!
No anchor on my bookmarks and I, too, noticed last week :)
ReplyDeleteMy bookmarks still show the anchor, even after re-bookmarking (is there such a word?)
ReplyDeleteI still have anchors too... hmmm... feel like I'm missing out on something :)
ReplyDeleteOooh, freaky. I usually use Firefox. I just went to www.jcrew.com with both Firefox and IE, and the main page looks different for both! Why would that be? Firefox shoes 9 women 1 shirt. IE shoes a guy wearing a Ludlow suit (nice suit!). I'm using Windows 7, IE 8, and Firefox 4.0.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI discovered in my IE browser that the Ludlow was showing because my cursor was sitting on the Summer Suits topic near the bottom of the page. If I move it on top of the Linen Perfect Shirt topic I see the 9 women 1 shirt image, but it's still very different from Firefox. It must be because I have Flash disabled in Firefox. I'm a control freak when it comes to browsing, I have Firefox configured to delete all cookies, cache, and history each time I close the browser, Flash and most other plugins are disabled, AdBlock is running, popups are blocked, etc. I'd disable Java Script too except most web sites require it to function properly.
ReplyDeleteBtw, not sure if you know this, but you know how obnoxious it is when Google alters your search term while you're typing it? Well you can get it to stop if you disable Java Script.
Another BTW, I don't see the J or the anchor in IE.
Crew Cricket & others - I still see the anchor. I'm in Firefox.
ReplyDeleteminji - I've never worked for J Crew & the SAs I know have all been in college. However, that doesn't mean they don't hire hs students. If you apply now and don't get a response, try around Christmas when they need people for the holidays. Good luck!
Crew Cricket: We can never be too obsessive! ;)
ReplyDeleteBourbon & Pearls: I will do so! Whenever you want back on, please let me know. :)
Ema and Egyptomaniac- I too am a huge fan of the reincarnation of the Palermo Paisley (now called Salt on Factory). I missed out on the bikini last season and have been obsessed with the pattern ever since. I first saw it pop up in the strapless tank, so I jumped on that and it is gorgeous! I don't wear that many pencil skirts but I was definitely tempted to buy that too!
