"Thanks!" to many of you, including Twiga, Irina, Miss Penny Z. (in this post), as well as Pathos (in this post), who let us know that J.Crew had an update to its website today (click here to view online).
There are some new arrivals for men (click here) & women (click here). {wahoo!} It looks like Crewcuts (click here) has been updated, but not the J.Crew Collection (click here).
The latest June catalog (click here to view) is now available to view. The Men's only catalog is available too.
The catalog features 9 different women wearing the same Linen Perfect Shirt. I love it! It's great to see the various ways to style one piece. :)
As for the new arrivals...
Loves it! I am drawn to the Secretary Blouse (Item 44054; $275.00). From the flowy fit to self tie bow to the mosaic design... I am in love. Too bad about that price... yikes! For a more reasonable priced item, there is the Rowboat Dress (Item 42449; $88.00). This is such a cute dress, perfect for those hot Summer days!
Yeah, that's pretty... pretty creepy! I know the Comme des Garçons® Play Printed Heart Tee (item 48464; $90.00) is suppose to be a fun, whimsical tee. But honestly, it is just creepy to me. I don't want a pair of dramatic eyes starring at people checking out my chest. (It's like a weird game of gotcha.) Pass.
Way to take something I love to the extreme! Oh J.Crew, you know I love stripes, ruffles, sequins, and of course bows. But why did you mock my love with the Prabal Gurung at J.Crew Exploding Bow Blouse (Item 49310; $225.00). Even the name of the item recognizes the outlandishness of the bow's size. It's such a pretty top too. So can you make the same top with proportions for the bow that I could actually wear?
What items are you most excited about and why? Which items are you surprised (or not surprised) to see? Which items did you hope would be included? Were you expecting a bigger roll-out today? Also, did you receive the latest catalog? :)
Well Tamara...I thought of you when I saw the Pilar printed platform heels. AMAZING! Why do they have to be soo expensive. I am afraid they will never go on sale and sell out like has happened to me so many times before :(
ReplyDeleteLooking at PG collaboration pieces. The PG Rampant Rose top is like a rose tee gone wild -- with ruffles. And for $450? And wasn't there a bridesmaid' s dress v. similar to the exploding bow dress? On the other hand I could see the *!* bow blouse looking dignified & stately with a long black satin skirt. Though perhaps not on me.

ReplyDeleteStene, yes! I saw those earlier this morning! They're too outrageous for my wardrobe (my funky limit stops at the Flannerys) but I think they look awesome! You might get lucky, I was convinced when the Collins and Emellines came out that they would sell out quickly, never go on sale, and therefore I wouldn't be able to buy them. But it didn't turn out that way. I'll pray to the shoe gods on your behalf. :)
ReplyDeleteThis was the second morning in a row that the update occurred late. But this morning I was rewarded for getting up early, my bookmarks led me to items that weren't visible in the sale section at that time. Even a product search didn't pull them up, only the bookmark worked. (I'm sure an external search would have worked too.) I saw the Wylder boots before the update was complete. Why why why couldn't they have been in my size??? (cry) I can think of only one worse situation, getting them in my size only to find that the order is cancelled later.
Nice update this morning.
Ohhhhh, I can't wait to delve in (with my coffee as usual!) Your preview makes it look like some high potential for things I'd like! :) Thank you Alexis!! (personally exploding bow sounds totally intriguing).
ReplyDeleteAnd maybe dramatic eyes glaring down someone staring at your chest is a GOOD thing...
Prices do sound INSANE though... but looking is free!
ReplyDeleteThe Evana dress is fabulous, but so pricey. I like the fatigue skirt, that could be a great weekend piece for me. I love the entire Prabal Gurung collection and if I worked in a creative field or someplace less conservative, I'd buy it all! Actually, the rampant rose top could be a wonderful evening piece.
ReplyDeleteI think the PG line is just too out there for me and my lifestyle. I like that black stripe dress. I think it looks really cute. Gotta look more at everything!
ReplyDeleteI satisfied my obsessions for all things linen and khaki this morning.
ReplyDeleteI JUMPED on the Fatigue Skirt, I have been waiting for this one ever since the Spring preview months ago! I ordered my usual pencil skirt size, I hope it fits.
Also finally got the Linen Perfect Shirt in white, it's been in my basket forever and after I saw the "9 Women, 1 Shirt" feature I knew I had to snap it up for real.
And -happy day!- the Fisherman Sweater was back in small in the beechwood colour.
I haven't looked forward to an order this much in such a long time!

ReplyDeleteCurious about the cute dress/tunic in Look 1 of "Looks We Love"...doesn't seem to be anywhere on the site yet.
ReplyDeleteAnd those Pilar shoes in the yellow are FABulous!
Clicquot you will love the linen perfect shirt. I bought two, the blue and the pink, I LOVE them.
ReplyDeleteI have to say I love the PG stuff too though it is not my style.
The linen suit with the vest and the shorts in navy? I showed my daughter this morning before she left for school and she loves it, she wants to splurge on it with her babysitting money. It will be adorbs on her.
Going back to have a better look now.
Oh and I reviewed the Windowpane Trenchlet today on my blog.
nice update this morning! now just hoping a couple of coveted items actually ship!
ReplyDeletesecond roll out in a row that i'm really enjoying! after suffering an impasse, jcrew has totally wooed me (and my wallet back!) so many cute things--the 3 striped dresses and ikat walkaway shorts could make for great weekend wear and i'm loving the mirabel in the ivory/red combo, tho will have to see if that cut will work on me.
i actually love the prabal garung line! out of curiousity, i ordered the big bow top! we'll see just how poofy that bow is--i would definitely wear it out for dinner, but if that tie will get in the way of the fork making it to my mouth then back it goes!
As I continue to peruse the new arrivals...
ReplyDeleteI think the Comme les Garcons stuff is adorable. I love the grey T, but cannot justify the price.
Very intrigued by the Hutton Chinos. Looking forward to a review from one of you JCAs.
But...
Cashmere shorts? For realz?
Frontier pants? For those weekends when you're panning for gold?
yay, yay, yay! The Hutton Chinos look like replacements for my 2007 favorite fit chinos--which were awesome heavier weight twill with a tailored pant leg. Somewhere through the years the chinos have gone down hill. Pray these are true replacements of what was a perfect female version of the chino pants.
ReplyDeleteLove the secretary blouse and ink dot skirt. However, I think the price on the former item is crazy. It is beautiful but not special enough for that price.
ReplyDeleteI love the Rachelle Wrap Dress, but $650? Really??? Maybe I'll be able to catch it as a popback on supersale eventually...
ReplyDeleteAs for the other new arrivals, there are more promising pieces in this rollout then there have been in quite awhile, which is very refreshing at this point. I'm really glad to see the free shipping on all orders again, too.
Has anyone checked out the whisper linen tees in store yet? Wondering if they are sheer or not and how the quality looks.
ReplyDeleteAgreed, FFM. That is a gorgeous dress, but $650 seems a little ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteI think the shirt featured in the nine women feature is the new boy shirt in cotton voile and not the linen one. I am actually very excited by a very simple piece, the short sleeves white shirt. I have tried to replace an old Zara one forever and this one looks like it could do it.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I saw the striped Eliza jacket on a SA and it was beautiful on (much more than in the pics and on the hanger), very polished but modern.
I also like the look of the Aperitif dress but $400 for a cotton dress? From the PG collection I like the green dress most.
DaniBP - how is the sizing on the Perfect Linen shirt? I've been eyeing these for quite a while.
ReplyDeletemaryeb: I find them to run true to size. I took the 0, I am generally a 0 for tops though I take a 2 in dresses on account of my butt size.
ReplyDeleteThe fit is long and lean as they promise, very flattering. I was totally going to send them back if they weren't long enough. I am 5'7" and shirts are often too short and become untucked very easily which is super-annoying.
Not the case, the length is great as is the sleeve-length.
I hope that helps you out!
The PG pieces are works of art. Unfortunately all the pouf would look absolutely ridonculous on my busty frame.
ReplyDeleteThe Heathered Playa Skirt looks gorgeous. I didn't bite on the previous release of this skirt as none of the colors really worked for me but I am loving the indigo and carnival blossom versions. Anyone have this skirt already and can comment on the fit and sizing?
Some of the new dresses look nice but I would like to see reviews on fit and fabric quality before I buy as dresses can be tricky for me.
Ema I missed the short sleeve white shirt, thanks for mentioning. Has anyone seen it in the stores? Is it thick enough not to see-through? If these fit well and are good cotton, I'd buy three on the spot.
ReplyDeleteI'm also sort of intrigued with the Wyatt Buckle Cone heels.
There's a couple of sale items but with no promo, I feel no need to buy. If they sell out, no biggie.
they are reading my mind: Nili Lotan last month and now CDG--two of my all-time favorites. Already have the funny grey shirt that my husband and I share (and fight over) I CAN NOT own one more blue stripe tee. Can. Not. ...but it does have a heart on it so it's different, right?
ReplyDeleteXOXO, I reviewed the Playa skirt a while back. I got the citron in a size 2. This is my usual size and it fits fine at the waist and hip. The length from the top of the waist band is 18 3/4". The paper bag ruffle extends about 3/4" above this. So it is not 20 inches in length. I'm 5'3" and it hits about an 1 1/2" above my knee. Shorter than I wanted, but liveable.
ReplyDeleteWhen I bought it the description read Machine Wash, which was a big reason why I bought it. I was highly disappointed to see on the care tag it is Dry Clean. I see that they've corrected this on the website. The site still lists it as Linen/cotton blend. But the tag says it's just Linen. If this is important to you I'd double check this before purchasing.
Hope this helps.
Ema: How did the SA sytle the Elsa Jacket she was wearing?
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to see a cotton version of the ink-dot pencil skirt. I liked last year's version but wasn't a fan of the silk material.
ReplyDeleteI do have to ask, though...where in the world are the pretty floral pencil skirts? There were so many pretty ones last year...sunshine peonies, impressionist, floral pastiche, etc...we haven't had a single floral pencil skirt this season yet-have we?
Believe it or not, I just received the May catalog LAST WEEK. Honestly, something is screwy with their mailing system lately.
ReplyDeleteElizabeth, it is catalog only so I don't think we are going to see it in stores. I might order it with the free shipping offer and will report back. I too hope that it is a nice substantial cotton and that it looks crisp.
ReplyDeleteLilyBart, she was wearing a pair of Minnies and ballet flats and she had the belt cinched. It was very cute. I must add that she is quite pear-shaped and I never seen her look so good.
Gem Twin --> LOL, I love your rationale! I am SO tempted by the CDG striped shirt, but honestly, I have 4 almost identical...
ReplyDeleteI think the silk mirage jacket is really cute! Definitely cropped, but with different styling could be a cute summer option for work or weekends. However, I'll wait till it goes on sale as the price is a little steep. :)
ReplyDeleteThe PG pieces are beautiful, but I just would have no occassion to wear them. Definitely more avante-garde!
I really adore the Prabal Gurung bow blouse. The denim jacket (item: 47305) is also exquisite.
ReplyDeleteAmerican Observer - I STILL have not received the May catalog! Just picked up the June one at a B&M this afternoon. Wish they'd get their mailing issues straight!
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI too have yet to receive my catalog. Maybe they just know I'll spend money anyways but can't help but think I should be valued enough to get a catalog!
ReplyDeletesub :))
ReplyDeleteoops. trying again. :P
ReplyDeleteThe Prabal line made me squeal- it's right up my ally (bows! BIG bows!) and I think that most of the pieces could be surprisingly versatile, as long as worn the right way.
ReplyDeleteI like a good challenge, so I grabbed the Bow-dacious denim jacket and the Exploding bow blouse--can't wait to see them in person!
From the actual J Crew line itself, the only thing immediately tugging at my heart strings is the Pluma pendant necklace. I didn't love it until I saw its size on the mannequin--so fun!
Hooray free shipping again! The High Tide Tunic dress, although so simple, looks like just the classic look I love!
ReplyDeleteI have yet to receive my May catalog as well. I had been getting them just fine now not so sure???
ReplyDeleteFun to look at the new arrivals. I liked 3 things but the prices are crazy high IMO for J.Crew and the quality that has been coming from them lately.
Still fun to look at clothes anytime.
Loving the Aperitif dress, but the price tag is off-putting to me. $400?? Also liking the blue striped heathered hoodie #44690. Heading over to a B&M tonight; haven't been in a store in weeks!
ReplyDeletePicked up the PG denim jacket and the aperitif dress, playa skirt in the light pink and the long printed wrap dress. Can't wait to see them IRL!
ReplyDeletemaryeb, thank you so much for repeating your review of the Playa skirt, the information is very helpful.
ReplyDeleteI think I will SU so I can get a bit more length since I'm on the tall side of the spectrum. I don't mind if it's not machine washable but I really dislike when they misrepresent the item materials and care online. I do prefer 100% linen rather than a blend as I find the wrinkles on pure linen relax throughout the day and appear a bit less stiff than when it is blended with cotton.
My internet connection is the pits today, so I will have to give it a good look later.
ReplyDeleteHmm, not really caring for anything in this rollout. I think J. Crew has gotten too simple in recent seasons for my taste, though I know lots of other people love that. I don't long for a return to excessively ruffled styles, I just want humor and color to come back into the clothes (although delicate, pretty colors like from Spring 2010 rather than bold, primary ones). It seems like the J. Crew of 2005-2008 that many here long for had humor + simplicity. When their style changed to the heavily layered, bedazzled look of 2009-2010 that took itself more seriously they had non-humor + busy-ness. Now they've razed everything to a very spare look - non-humor + simplicity. I guess in this algorithm, what I'm asking for is the remaining combination: humor + busy-ness. I don't care for minimalist, boxy tank tops with no details on them that don't flatter the body. I wish JC would make more form-fitted clothes with details or prints on them.
ReplyDeleteAlso the catalog cover looks very much like the January one. Where are the location shoots and colorful sets? I'm missing the color that used to be in the catalogs - most of the outfits now are just neutral colors. I loved the crazy-layered looks from 2009-2010, but I wish they'd make individual pieces that invoke the look of colorful layering so we wouldn't have to wear a scarf around our waist or one skirt over another ourselves.
Ema, I too got excited about the short sleeved white shirt. If it is not see through I will be very happy.
ReplyDeleteClicquot--you can join me in a stripe-T 12-step program. Just say no--maybe!
ReplyDeleteI really adore the Prabal Gurung denim jacket but for $400 I'd prefer a light weight wool rather than denim. It is absolutely tempting me, but I'd be completely out of clothing budget for a couple of months. Noting else is calling me quite so loudly, although the Heathered playa skirt in blue looks very fun.
ReplyDeleteIn case you're interested, I found out from my PS that the large black bag on page 36 of the online catalog is the Edie Tote - $348 due in late July in 4 colors.
XOXO, if you order the heathered version of the playa I'd love to know if it turns out to truly be a blend and machine washable.
ReplyDeletemaryeb, I will definitely report back if I get the heathered playa skirt. I have more orders on the way than I care to admit but I also have some returns to be processed so there might be a quick turnaround on the refund. :^P
ReplyDeleteI bought the High Tide Tunic Dress and the navy linen suiting, shorts, vest and jacket , for my 16yo daughter. She is super-excited to try on the suit especially so I hope it doesn't disappoint her. It will be terrific for travelling: the jacket with cropped denim and a striped t-shirt, the vest worn solo or under the jacket, and a civilized looking pair of shorts.
ReplyDeleteI'll do a review when they arrive next week.
I did buy that new Liberty belt for myself, I have a couple of Brora linen dresses it would just be darling with, the colors in it are great.
DaniBP, your daughter is so lucky to have the gorgeous suit on it's way to her. I adore it and have had it in my shopping cart since seeing it in the Collection Look Book. I might try the vest and blazer in white to go with jeans and a few navy items ...can't wait for your reviews.
ReplyDeleteSE MOM, I ordered the whisper T's when they first came out along with the boatneck 3/4 Ts (can't remember the name) The material is nice and drapey but definitely sheer. I wouldn't wear any of them w/o a cami. I got Azalea, gray, white and blush in all of them. Love the material!
ReplyDeleteThe neon Azalea is gorgeous (sold out?) The fit of the Whisper T is boxy with a nice wide hem which makes it sort of hang straight.
I usually wear small but ordered medium in both styles for slouchiness. The Whisper is TTS but the boatneck seem to run a little smaller.
I actually have a friend who works for Madewell who offered her discount so have will two of everything when the second set arrives. Should I hang on to the first order in case anyone is interested here? Karen
Julie: I know it's fabulous. My daughter wears a school uniform so it is especially exciting for her to be buying real clothes. She has saved her money to buy things for our holiday, well I can't imagine where she gets that strategy? ;)
ReplyDeleteIn the white I think it would be spectacular. It's going to be all about the fabric quality. I'll be sure to let you know, I'll do a detailed review, hope it ships out quick.
@ AppGal
ReplyDeleteI totally agree about the floral pencil skirt thing. I have recently been wearing my sunshine peonies one a lot and was hoping, nay praying, that in this latest release there would be a gorgeous new floral one- but no dice! Would actually love one in that to die for casbah print.
I was at a Crewlet today where they have a paisley print pencil skirt. The fabric just felt flimsy to me. I did walk away with 2 of those linen-cotton sweatshirts. They were on special for 40% plus my teacher discount. Just like the Saturday sweater!
Julie Styles--thanks for the bag info. First JC bag I have been interested in for a while. Did they say what 4 colors?
ReplyDeleteAlexis I could not agree with you more about that GIGANTIC bow and I am not at all fond of the back cut of that top. Some of us really do need to wear a bra...geez ! I also love the Secretary blouse but it needs to be about 100 dollars less expensive. Thanks for the info and reminding me about the catalog !
ReplyDeletethe Secretary blouse reminds me of the Island Paisley Perfect Shirt. It's not exactly the same but it's also sheer with a similar print, although the removable tie is missing. You could easily add a contrasting or complementary scarf in place of the tie if you have this shirt already. Just a thought.
ReplyDeleteOk, maybe I am just insanely jealous and hopelessly sad that I would have no place to wear the Exploding Bow blouse. :( Don't get me wrong PG is CLEARLY very talented. I absolutely LOVE the pink color and the idea of it, but at J.Crew I am looking for more timeless pieces that are versatile. I was so excited about seeing his collection only to be let down and disappointed there was not more for the "average girl" to wear to work and on the weekend. I COULD make the denim jacket work for me but not for
ReplyDelete$400. Maybe if the bow had been a little less "explosive" and in cotton with a less revealing, bra friendly back I could have worn it. Oh well, that is fashion I guess.
XOXO What a great suggestion ! Unfortunately I don't have that blouse but there could be a popback, you never know.
ReplyDeleteIt's Midnight,
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the review of the whisper linen tees, much appreciated!
I fell deeply in love with the Platinum tweed jacket. I just hope it fits!!!
ReplyDelete@OperaRach: Jcrew gave you teacher's discount on special items? I thought the policy says the discount is applicable to full price merchandise only?
ReplyDeleteShekster, you could always check for the Island Paisley blouse on the Weekly Exchange or save the bookmark to check for a popback. It's a lovely print in a very wearable shirt.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the need to wear a bra and certain things are not designed for those of us with a larger bust. It's OK though, there are plenty of other options available.
JCee Tomato,
ReplyDeleteThe JCrew outlets or Crewlets give you the teacher discount all the time as per my experience. It has totally different policies regarding the discount I believe than regular JCrew stores.
sub
ReplyDeleteAppGal, they have some printed pencil skirts on the factory site. The floral prints are mostly from last year but they also have the paisley print one that OperaRach mentionned. I have that print in the bikini and it is stunning (it's the Palermo paisley). I have been stalking the factory site for a while because that print and the Canterbury Bells one made an appearance a few weeks ago but soldout almost immediately (actually I suspect them to have deliberately taken them away because they disappeared in all the sizes in a matter of two hours). I was superexcited to see that they are back in stock and this time around I jumped on it (even if the price went up).
ReplyDeleteThe fabric is thinner than the retail version apparently but I don't mind for a summer pencil skirt. The same print has been used for a perfect shirt and a cardigan. HTH!
JCee Tomato & Genny: In my experience, the teacher discount is still only to FP merch at the Crewlets. I have never been able to get my discount on sale stuff. Perhaps all Crewlets are different in policy.
ReplyDeleteEma: Thanks for the info! I have avoided factory pencil skirts simply because they don't fit me right. They are lumpy and stick out in all the wrong places on me for some reason. I haven't tried them in a while though, so maybe it's time I check them out again :)
ReplyDeleteOT there are two Roulette Clutches for sale on Ebay with nyblackcat and I have purchased two items from her (NWT) and they were in perfect condition.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ema ! I just ordered the crewlet version of the canterbury bells pencil skirt.
ReplyDeleteGem Twin-Here is more info about the bag: It will also be available in Mushroom, Vintage Rosewood, Soft Desert and Flame. Hope that helps.
ReplyDeleteI g0t my educator's discount when I go to a crewlet on sale and regular items but that was last summer and then again this past winter. Maybe things have changed or both times I was checked out by the manager.
ReplyDeleteEven now & crewlets the teacher's discount is on FP only? Last time I shopped at a crewlet was a year ago and everyone I was there, the discount applied to sale and full prices items. Maybe it's changed now?
ReplyDeleteGot the Rowboat dress in faded black last night after seeing it online. So glad I did since they only had 2 left in the store. Love it! So cute and it is better in person. Color is slightly different than online. The cream color is almost more of a khaki nude color in person which is actually better.
ReplyDeleteI finally was able to get something I wanted before it sold out!
I love the Isla platform sandals, and I'm also loving the Secretary blouse but ouch! $275 for a blouse?! I also have to agree with Alexis about that Comme des Garcons t-shirt, my first thought when I saw it was "yikes, that's kind of creepy looking!".
ReplyDeleteTXgirl14 I am happy for you too as I know how it feels to have something you are lusting for get sold out in your size before you can afford it. I feel like my life is devoted to stalking the Sale section for pop-backs ! Thanks for the review. How was the length of the Rowboat dress? On a side note, I don't understand why J. Crew cannot put people dying to find an item on a waitlist for it so we don't have to keep hoping and praying to find it on a random return to the Sale or even non-sale section. I actually received a phone call a few days back from a girl saying she was calling from J. Crew and an item I had ordered back in March was not going to be shipped. OK, how about the item number or order number or give me some kind of clue what the heck it was. Really? It was very odd.
ReplyDeleteI splurged and also bought the Rowboat dress in faded black. It is super cute and flattering on. I have the Maritime dress and liked this one a lot more than the Maritime! I'm 5'2 and it hit me a little lower than mid-thigh, so it may be pretty short for taller girls. Also, I sized down on this one and liked the fitted look of it better. I also bought the Stripe Blouson dress that's featured on the front of the June catalog. It is really adorable (perfect for summer weddings) and is definitely on the longer side. It hits me at the knee/a tiny bit below the knee. I like the length for the look of the dress, but I noticed that online they have Petite sizes for it for those who want it shorter. Again, I sized down on this dress - my regular size, a 0 was too loose in the armholes!!
ReplyDeleteI’m with sharon..have the Maritime dress too and like the Rowboat better. Still love the Maritime dress, but got to wear the Rowboat dress out this weekend and loved it on! It is so cute, but also so comfortable. Possibly could have sized down, but still cute. Shekster, I’m 5’3 and the dress falls mid thigh. It was the perfect length for me since I like shorter dresses.
ReplyDelete
