This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent" posts), where we can share our finds from other retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew (like LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann Taylor, and the like.)
If you have recently encountered items that are similar to J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.
Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including experiences with certain merchandise pieces, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.
A couple of Talbots reviews here.
ReplyDeleteJust completed some antho reviews (skirts!) and a couple jcrew items too (shrug tee, finespun tie tee and chambray dorrie)

Not super J.Crew like, but Nordstrom's bi-annual Women and Kids sale starts today. There are a lot of great things online (and I will be skipping lunch to go to B&M today!).
ReplyDeleteThanks, Rebecca! Oooh, pretty Coach sandals for $105, not a great price but not bad. If it had a platform I would have bought it in record time. :)
ReplyDeleteSometimes they can get a bit Little House on the Prairie, but Sundance Catalog has some awesome prices on some of its Outlet section clothing. For example, here's a cute ivory linen dress for only $29.99. They offer major manufacturers' clothing but don't state the names in the product descriptions. They do frequent popbacks.
Their web site can be slow, so be patient.
My first ever Boden purchase in this post, paired with the J. Crew square neck tissue tee from a few years back.
ReplyDeleteBoden is offering 25% off everything plus free shipping through tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteThis Boden sale has been fab, but since it is a diminishing discount, the 25% off will end tomorrow, with Friday being 20% off (still decent), and Saturday being 15% off (which is % off my blog's sidebar coupon has, so basically "normal").
ReplyDeleteLater today I will do another installment of my Boden Weekly Review Roundup (still going strong after three months--yay!), so any Boden fans out there may want to check out the "My Superfluities" blog around 4 pm or so (Eastern time).
You can also use the search box at the top of my blog to help you find any Boden review you might need. (I actually do this myself when searching for something, which cracks me up that I can't even find things on my own blog--lol.)

On another note, I went to sears yesterday with my grandpa and found the Lands End section in full bloom. I couldn't resist a very preppy little number, the Sleeveless Dobby Dress in the red stripe colorway. And even though it was not on sale, the awesome saleslady gave me 20% off. :) I sized down to a 4 in this, so for those that are especially petite, you may be sized out as the smallest size they offer is a 2.

Speaking of Boden... I bought my first Boden purchase in late April and the other day I got a letter in the snail mail with a coupon for $10 my next order and free shipping/returns saying "welcome" to Boden. I thought it was very nice
ReplyDelete**$10 OFF, whoops!
ReplyDeleteRSizzler, I got one of those $10 off vouchers, too (I'm not sure why Boden though it was my first order when it was far from it). FYI, you can combine it with the current promotion. I ordered a dress yesterday for 25% off plus $10 off. Combined, I saved almost $40.
ReplyDeleteDina, I have a few Boden reviews for you. I'll e-mail soon.
LaurenPhD: Awesome! Thank you! If I publish the post before I receive them, I will just update the post once I receive them from you. :)
ReplyDeleteI have received wonderful coupons/vouchers from Boden, including a $25 one last year. Boden is great at rewarding customers, and between them and J. Crew, I literally have very little need to bother buying clothing from anyone else (except for Anthro here and there).
Rugby by Ralph Lauren! As well as a British store I recently discovered that is just making its way over to the states, Jack Wills. It's a bit edgier than JCrew but same sort of preppiness. I reviewed it here: http://soanthro.wordpress.com/2011/04/18/speaking-of-british-fashion/
ReplyDeleteThe service at Rugby is fantastic and there's a 15% student discount, also applicable on web or phone orders (you give your uni email and they send a test - JC could do this, not difficult),
ReplyDeleteA few weeks ago I mentioned the new Kate Spade pumps that look like the Juliets. They are called the Kami and they come in a beautiful green, black, poppy red and beige. I've tried them on and they are fantastic - the heel is a darker colored wood than the Juliets, but super comfy. I'm going to try to hold out until they are on sale. I've seen them at Nordstrom and Zappos, but not Katespade.com for some reason. Just a FYI!
ReplyDeleteBanana Republic - one time use code of VGT9XWV94WCC good for 30% off. I think I permanently deleted email, so unsure of expiration date. Just recvd it on 5/26 or 5/27.
ReplyDeleteA couple cute tops from H&M and a pearl cluster necklace from Georgiou in this post.

ReplyDeleteEven though I don't normally like a skinny heel on a shoe, I gave the Nine West Mayne sandal a try and I really like it a lot. I got the cognac color, it's a little more orange than I expected but still nice, and I might order the black too. The heel height is excellent and there's a thin platform. The straps fit perfectly. I had to downsize though, most of the time I take 6.5 in Nine West shoes and sandals, but for this one I need a 6. They're only $53.40 with free shipping, good deal.
