A big "thanks!" to Gem Twin (in this post), who let us know the following news: There are a few new J.Crew arrivals spotted over at Net-A-Porter (click here to view & shop online).
I took a quick look and found a handful of new arrivals. Or at least I think they are new arrivals because I could not find them at JCrew.com. ;)
One item is the Cotton Suspender Chinos (Product code 112963; $200.00). I can't imagine why adding suspenders (even in leather) would make this cost so much. It just seems like I am better off buying the items separately. Incidentally, do the Suspender Chinos remind anyone else of the film Sound of Music? Now I have the song in my head too! ;)
Another item is the Perforated Leather Shoulder Bag (Product code 162408; $300.00). It's a fine enough bag that definitely works for Spring and Summer. However, my eyes are only for the Edie Purse (Item 44804; $238.00). I got to see this one at my local B&M store and its just as lovely in-person as it is online. Definitely on my wish list!
Did you spot any upcoming new arrivals over at Net-A-Porter? If so, please share! :)
*rofl* at those suspender chinos. That just cracked.me.up. Still laughing. Ok, thanks for the info. Will check out the site :)
ReplyDeleteGigiOfCa: Right?! I can't get over the suspenders either. ;)
ReplyDeleteI just don't think these clothes look like summer. Color is way too drab and the cuts just don't scream hot & humid. Sadly not looking forward to the roll outs.
ReplyDeleteI just got the Edie in Flame, and it's fabulous. It's better-constructed than some of the more recent bags too.
ReplyDeleteSemi-off topic: can anyone comment on the fit of the Tissue V-necks? Are they slouchy or fitted? Comfy?
ReplyDeleteThe Perforated Leather Shoulder Bag is already in the sale section at J.Crew. It's called the Raceway Bag. :)
ReplyDeletedmmermaid: so happy to hear the Edie is fabulous! Like Alexis I've been coveting that bag, and it's great to hear the quality is up to snuff. I posted on another thread that I was so disappointed with the Indio, and I think the Evie in Flame will be my replacement!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like they're going to be releasing the red leather pumps from the Fall 2011 Collection preview.
ReplyDeleteLookbook pic here. Product page here. They also come in stone leather seen in this preview pic.
Interesting that NAP uses the names for the items that show up on the packaging and B&M receipts instead of the catalog/online names.
ReplyDeleteFor example, the Delaney eyelet shirt is called the Tidal Wave broderie shirt, and NAP is selling it for $88! This has been $19.99 in the sale section for quite a while.

there are also some pretty, classic heels and a nice cable cardigan.
ReplyDeleteI see quite a few items listed at FP that are in the sale section at jcrew.com already.
ReplyDeleteThe pumps also caught my eye but they don't say anything about the materials. If they don't have leather soles and linings - along with a quality leather upper - they are a pass for me. I have a few J.Crew pairs with synthetic soles and linings including Juliets and Lulus and although I do wear them they aren't the most comfortable and I wouldn't buy any more with the same construction/materials. JMHO, I know that others love many J.Crew shoes.
I saw the new rollout today at the collection store. More rompers (although a very cute and inexpensive one), a very nice embroided pencil skirt (same as the dress that already came out), some very cute tops and a striped silk tank dress in neon pink. The wedding store has the silk pink pants that were in the previews but not the collection store. I also saw the Kiev blouse and now I understand why it is so expensive (very high end silk, sort of taffeta). Still I wouldn't spend my money in this kind of blouse. I wasn't expecting so many pieces actually but they were quite a few nice ones (also a short sleeve linen dress buttoned down the front and with a full or at least a-line skirt that will please a few, I think).
ReplyDeleteOT: at the risk of getting "yelled at" for thinking so far ahead, is anyone else excited for the early fall roll out? It has been my favorite JC season for years; wool blazers, yummy cashmere colors, long sleeved jersey dresses...don't we usually see hints of this sometime in July? Maybe I am dreaming of this especially hard this year because we have yet to hit 70 degrees in Seattle! :-(
ReplyDeleteShannon--I used to live in Seattle. Now living in San Francisco. We wear fall clothing year round here--my favorite shopping season--can't wait!
ReplyDeletegem twin: I am with you on that one. Fall in Monterey all year round :) I wear my wool double surge pencil skirts and tights all the time...even during the summer (aka winter here!) I am soo excited about the new fall collection...especially the shoes!
ReplyDeleteEma,
ReplyDeleteWas the pink striped dress the one that was in Lucky mag? There was a pic posted on here a few weeks ago. Did it look nice or blah? There was also a nice looking pink lace skirt in the most recent Lucky (not a mini!) that looked promising that I am assuming is also in this rollout....
Suspenders going right over the tops of my breasts? Seems like that would be pretty uncomfortable. I'll pass. :)
ReplyDeleteFFM, your post is potential justification for my shoe binge. :) I had a feeling the shoes for fall would have pointed toes, skinny heels, and no platforms, exactly the kinds of shoes that look awful on me. If so, then I'm even more glad I bought the platforms when I could.
Count me among the others who are excited about the Fall clothes! I'm ready for summer to be over with already. :) One muggy day in the 80's last week did me in. :)

ReplyDeleteJust saw this picture of Tyra Banks wearing suspenders and it reminded me of this thread. Who starts these fads??
