Weekly Share: Other JCrew-like Retailers

This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent" posts), where we can share our finds from other retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew (like LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann Taylor, and the like.)

If you have recently encountered items that are similar to J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including experiences with certain merchandise pieces, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. I've noticed that Brooks Brothers is desperately attempting a "younger" line of clothing. It's actually borrowing most of its' looks from Polo Ralph Lauren. But they also have some button-up shirts that are strikingly similar to some of Jcrew.

  4. I have to say I've been really happy with some of Talbots' spring items. And seems like every day there is something marked down by 30%

  5. I just bought the Detachable collar jacket from BP and I love it. I haven't loved any of their offerings for a long time but they were right on with this one. The fabric is substancial, the cut is great. It is fitted.

I also go the Heritage lace vest from BP and really like that also.

Also, got my LE Canvas catalog the other day, and there were some really cute new items!

I'll post a couple new Talbots pics tomorrow. I agree with JulieY that they've really had some nice promos lately!

  7. ilokana, not sure if you're new to Brooks Brothers but they have offered clothes that suit my lifestyle for quite some time and I'm 25. There's always been a "college" segment available for the younger shopper. They aren't as current with the trends but the clothes are well-made and usually quite classic. I don't think they will ever go to the extent of chasing trends that J.Crew has been lately. At least, I hope not. I count on them for a certain type of look that is a must for parts of my life.

  8. I was flipping through a new Garnet Hill catalog and they have some cute Born sandals called Amore which look like a funky casual wedge version of J Crew's Collins. If it came in a dark color I'd buy it. onlineshoes.com has a large Born selection, I saw lots of great shoes that would work well with J Crew summer clothes. Not that any of us need more shoes. :) But I do like the Born sandals, I might have to get a pair.

  9. We are loving Brooks Brothers these days. They also have some great polo shirt as well as chino short promos. Like 3 for $...or 2 for $...
My husband who is very fit, loves their slim fit polos for men. Many other retailers seem pretty boxy, but these have a good length, and actually have some shape to them.

  11. FFM -- Thanks for sharing the cami -- really pretty in other colors!

Talbots dropped a ton of prices in their sale/outlet section online today. Lots of great deals -- cashmere for $23, shoes for $14, etc. Free shipping on $150 automatically.
