Sought & Found: Did you visit J.Crew this {past} Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopped by a J.Crew store this past weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SPRING sale, or to see some new SUMMER arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store was/ is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

  2. I went to Pacific Place (Seattle) but didn't buy anything. It is really getting harder for me to walk into a JC and find anything I like on the rack. These days I rarely buy anything until I've seen it on three or four lovely JCA bloggers.

  3. I went to the store for returns only but didn't buy anything. A few things I like and am watching, but I have learned repeatedly to wait for sale and not to buy FP. The new return policy has left me with a few things still with tags that I could have saved LOTS of money on had I just waited a few weeks. A lesson in patience :)

  4. I actually did end up going yesterday. The sale sections were packed but no percent off. They did have 20% off of flip-flops though.

I think it's always so interesting to see the items IRL. So many things are just quite disappointing and absolutely not worth the asking price, IMO. However, the Casbah print is much prettier IRL than I had anticipated, and works great with my coloring, so I'll definitely be watching for the different pieces in that print to go on sale. In the end, like mack, I made returns only and didn't purchase anything, as I also am waiting for the items to hit sale.

Btw, for anyone interested in an anchor print, there was a navy scarf with off white anchors on it for $40.

Small update to the sale section this morning and Free Shipping with No Minimum until 5.11.11. There are a pair of size 2 Lolli Pants available right now. I purchased these a couple of weeks ago on popback and have to say that the color is gorgeous IRL!

  6. Went to JCrew over the weekend. Had not been to a store in close to 7 months. Was disappointed. Did not see anything I had to have...my daughter and I liked some shorts that had cute sparkle fishes (almost like the good old critter days) on them and some green/white floral shorts that were nice but I prefer longer inseams.

Also, have been a huge fan of JCrew flip flops and am so glad I OVER bought them in the past years as I don't care for the new textured foot bed. Tried on a pair that were cute but even marked way down they were a pass. Please J.Crew go back to the regular smooth footbed next summer!!!

I see a couple of online only items I will probably order and try.

  7. P.S. There was a rack of sale dresses and I over heard three girls in their 20's saying how blah the dresses were (colorwise I believe)and how they just hung like a sack. I had to chuckle. I remember the dresses at JCrew being something I coveted so much and were so pretty in the past. I had to agree.

I'll keep checking in with good old JCrew hoping for that special piece to catch my eye but no more closet full of their current clothing selections.

  8. Fabulous Florida Mommy- I ordered those Sz 2 Lolli's and I'm so excited, I've seen lots of Sz 4's on popback but have not seen a Sz 2in a very long time...I'm nervous about the fit can you comment on the sizing?

  9. anything_but_full_price: Yay for getting the Lolli pants! I found them to run pretty TTS for me. I hope they work out for you! :)

  10. I went in and came out with a pair of matchsticks in the lived in wash for $29.99! Was so excited, as these have been my favorite pair and best fitting jeans. Glad to scoop up this pair so now I have 2....

  11. At the great lakes crossing outlet, clearance was an extra 40% off. There were three of the bazaar tunic dresses in size 14 for $49.99 before the 40% off. I was so bummed there weren't any small sizes, but hopefully someone can scoop those up at that awesome price!

  12. I don't know where else to post this. Does anyone know what happened to that lovely orange paisley pencil skirt (Item # 37867)? Did it really sell out? I would love one but realize that I haven't even seen it pop back yet... hmm....

  13. On Saturday, I went to the Third Street Promenade store in Santa Monica and took a chance with a featherweight cashmere cardigan, in light spearmint. It was 50% off retail. I wanted light shale but it sold out in my size (XL) on line.

The sweater is comfy and I like the color but I did notice the pilling.

  14. OperaRach, was that orange paisley skirt ever available online? I can't seem to remember for certain because I was visiting some stores in April and usually just shop online or through my PS for Retail-only items.

You could check with a PS to see if they can find it for you. Mine has helped me track down several HTF items. The shipping is free for the Find It service as well.

  15. Xoxo-

Thank you - that is very helpful and you're right I don't remember seeing it online - but that seems so weird! I don't have a PS but perhaps I will look into getting one.

  16. I should have written this last weekend but..

I spent way too much money at the ol' J.Crew. It was warm and sunny and I had just gotten paid so I was thirsty for the crewlade. I also had a couple of random returns to make.

I bought the orange paisley skirt, 2 jackie cardigans (one in a pretty green and other similar to the Peri color from 2 years ago), 2 casbah print scarves (jade color and the purple), 2 perfect fit tanks, 3 vintage v neck tees, a pair of sale scout pants in a dusty pink (I think the color was once called wisteria?) and I exchanged a pair of matchstick jeans for (sadly) a bigger size.

My thoughts: What is with the Jackie cardigans these days? I usually buy SEVERAL each season and for some reason as of lately, they seem boxy and do not flatter me as much. I am still the same size as I was before, so it's not that I need a bigger size, but they just don't fit right. I wear them so much and the colors are so attractive. I just don't feel they are the same.

    Thoughts?

  17. OperaRach - I haven't seen that skirt online. Each blogger I've seen it on has mentioned that they think it's in-store only.

  18. OperaRach, you can initiate a Find It request through Customer Service as well but I suggested a PS because I've found mine to be very helpful with a lot of things and there is never any pressure to buy. I'm in Canada and don't visit the U.S. often so she is my only source for retail-only items.

I can understand why some people might not want to use a PS but my experience has always been terrific. Good luck.
