Free Shipping On Any Order at JCrew.com Is Back Baby!

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Miss Penny Z. (in this post), who shared the following promotion from J.Crew this morning.

J.Crew is bringing back their offer for free shipping on all your orders (no min!) with promo code SUMMER. This offer expires Sunday, May 22, 2011. The fine print includes:
*Previous purchases are not eligible for this discount. Free shipping offer is valid through Sunday, May 22, 2011, 11:59pm ET on Internet orders shipped via regular shipping (3 to 6 business days). Free shipping applies to online-only orders before shipping, handling and taxes are added. Free ground shipping is applied at checkout with promo code SUMMER. Offer not valid on telephone orders. This offer cannot be combined with any other promotion.
How exciting to see this kind of promotion at J.Crew again. :) I already made one purchase that was $99.99, so the free shipping came in handy.

Will you be taking advantage of this promotion? If so, what items are you planning to get. Please share! :)

  2. Rosie, I'm not seeing any popbacks :( Maybe my computer is acting crazy.

  3. Beautiful visuals with the new arrivals. Love the shoes, colors and longer skirts. So fem.

  4. @Stene -- Use your bookmarks or google to link to them. The index down the side isn't updated yet. For example, outerwear in lots of sizes and factory bazaar tunic is back in all sizes.

  5. Rosie - Thank you! I don't have them bookmarked, but maybe this is something I need to start doing :) I guess I will just have to wait for the index to update...boo.

  6. LOL- I have a love/hate relationship with the free ship promo...love the $0 shipping, hate spending more time with my grumpy UPS man! He has repeatedly made sarcastic comments to me about my daily JC deliveries during the promos. I try to act very nonchalant if I happen to be outside when he roars into the driveway, but he's got my number and knows I am a pathetic, hopeless JCrew online shopping addict.

  7. Can someone tell me what "waitlisted" w/no expected ship date means? I ordered a pair of Pixie pants and I believe when I ordered them it was saying backordered for a month or so. TIA.

  8. YESSSSS!! Finally caught the Schoolboy Canvas blazer in my size. Hooray for popbacks :)

(crossing fingers that it actually ships! I've been waiting for this baby for weeks.)

  9. Thank you JCrew. Special free shipping promotions makes me love and order from you even more. I

  10. @Stene -- Here's how I create my J Crew "wishlist." what I do is fill up my cart with all item I wish I could by, even if it's not the right color or size. Then I hit "checkout" and copy the page (HTML links and all) into a gmail email and send it to myself. That way I can use the little "edit" button as a link back to the item.

@Gigi -- Kudos to you for this idea.... I think I once saw you copy-paste your shopping basket into a blog post.

  12. Shannon, the only thing saving me from my UPS person is that I live in a condo building with other shopaholics, and my many packages are nothing compared to some of the other people's. :)

I think I hit a record today. I placed four separate orders! All because of free shipping, I spotted a popback and immediately checked out, then proceeded to look for more. I feel kind of bad about it, it's a waste of packaging and fuel for delivery, but based on prior experiences I know now to act fast.

    ReplyDelete
  13. God bless you JCAs...I don't feel like such a shopaholic around you guys! I feel...normal! ;)

  14. Major sale update indeed! I was able to checkout with a coveted popback that I have been stalking for a while. I hope it ships and is in perfect condition. Nice to have the free ship promo so we can checkout without wasting time adding ridealongs and risk losing that one thing that is the whole reason for the order.

My UPS driver changes every few months and if they ever make a comment about delivering many packages I just say, "I'm doing my part to keep you in business." Haven't heard a snappy comeback yet.

  15. xoxo~ I think I've said something about being a good capitalist and supporting the economy! ;-)

  16. AppGal, you will love the Schoolboy blazer in canvas -- I caught it on popback too a couple of weeks ago, and it's really so nice.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Yes, it was a nice update to the sale section, but it's unfortunate that the time of the update has changed yet again. I guess that was to be expected since it has been discussed on a daily basis here recently.

For those of you who are fairly new to the JCA blog, anytime the update or links have been discussed repeatedly on here, J.Crew has changed the time and removed the links in the past. Just something to consider before you post...

  18. Sorry to be OT ladies but can anyone comment on the Factory Cocktail Capris? As far as fit being the same as retail version and also quality wise. TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Fabulous Florida Mommy, good point. I will never understand why they change the time of the updates after discussion here. I can understand some of the other changes they make since a few could be considered "loopholes" but if they want to move the sale merchandise then why on earth would they try to stop people from jumping on the update? I wonder if they are trying to drive compulsive behavior or they are just disorganized or maybe the large update was more complex and took more time. Anybody's guess I suppose.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Hard to resist free shipping. I got the short sleeve hideaway dress -- which I tried on in store when it was still full price and liked it a lot. I also ordered the factory lace dress -- it will be my first lace dress, will be interesting to see how it looks.

I don't run into my UPS delivery guy(s) very often -- they leave the package by the front door. My impression is that they range from friendly to quiet. No one has ever commented on my shopping habit. I've heard once a delivery guy comment on someone else' ordering a lot, though. But life is too short to worry about that.

    ReplyDelete
  21. If J Crew really is changing the update time and links because of our discussions, I hope they're not doing it because they mistake us for resellers. I'm buying for myself, my husband, and occasionally for my sister and niece. If I sell what I buy it's only because the item doesn't fit or doesn't look right on me, or in the case of my last sale because I have a gross overabundance of footwear. :)

If anyone wants me to keep my update info on the DL, just let me know and I'll stop posting it. I won't be offended.

    ReplyDelete
  22. It seems silly to me that Jcrew cares if we know when the updates happen for one reason:

Their goal IS to sell me clothing!

Only us die hard Jcrew lovers know this update happens and that the early bird gets the worm. Honestly it is fun to find those pieces and since I know it is first come first serve I have made some quick checkouts instead of talking myself out of it.

Now Tamara and FFM bring up a good point, I don't know every aspect of the retail industry, there may be a valid reasons that I don't understand as to why they don't want me to know when more items hit the sale section.

I just personally think it enters the site to be sold, I don't know why they care if it causes a morning frenzy. They should be proud that we loose sleep for them.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I do lose sleep for them, that's for sure. :) And I've given them lots of my hard-earned $$ as well. I also agree with everyone who points out that their #1 goal is, presumably, to sell clothing.

I did delete one of my earlier posts though. I know nothing! :)

    ReplyDelete
  24. tamara - lol! You crack me up.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I'm experimenting with a Firefox add-on that detects web page changes. This is getting very serious. I'll report back after testing........

    ReplyDelete
  26. Im with you Tamara if they really care I too will plead clueless!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I can say one thing, I am going to be prepared for Fall! I'm going to know exactly what items I want and watch like a hawk until they meet my criteria for buying, which could include pure impulse. :) The reason I'm losing so much sleep now is because I wasn't paying attention earlier in the year when everything first went on sale. I might have been stuck with some final sale size mistakes, but I think I would have ended up with all that I wanted long ago.

The Firefox add-on was a piece of crap, so now I'm trying some software. I'll have to let this thing run overnight and hopefully capture tomorrow's update. The one I don't know anything about. :)

  28. All the UPS guys I have had in the various states I have lived in have been super nice and friendly. I do lots of online shopping and get packages for work as well as personal items almost daily for the past 10 years. They smile and are friendly and have no problems even putting packages in special places if I request. They do package pick ups free for me too and I always smile and thank them.

Just smile and "kill them with kindness" and maybe a cookie and a cup of coffee:) if you have a grumpy one. I have yet to experience that but that would be my plan of action if so.

    ReplyDelete
  29. In 2005-2007 I was on the East Coast and got up most mornings to catch their updates. I was a very dedicated JC shopper, although there are still some items I missed (no lottery ticket). Now I'm on the West Coast and I don't do that any more. I get it though; it was fun to be online and shop right when they did the update and sometimes you would catch old season items that you thought were gone forever. I didn't realize they were changing the times these days.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Shannon - I totally agree with you about the grumpy UPS guy! I obviously do a lot of online shopping and sometimes work-related stuff gets shipped home as well, so mine visits quite often sometimes. Just grin and bear it - we're keeping UPS employed! ;o)

And darn you, free ship promo and updated sale section - OF COURSE I've already abused you both!

    ReplyDelete
  31. I don't get why a UPS guy would be grumpy with you? He'd be doing a delivery to someone, somewhere if not to you...it's not like your JC addiction is adding hours onto his day?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Now that I think about it, if a UPS person grumbles about deliveries, the person should probably get a new job.

  37. SCORE!!

Love the free shipping no min. Got a plaid shirt that was regularly $72.50 for $19.99. Nothing like a deal to brighten up a Thursday morning.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Rosie - Thank you so much. I am going to get my wishlist together now! :)

Well I took advantage of the free shipping because I all of a sudden got paranoid that my items were going to sell out. I am in love love love with the purple thistle color, so I ordered the cashmere crewneck. I also ordered the pond water of the same shirt. Those crewnecks seem to be going like hot cakes.

Even though I said I wouldn't purchase the Mirable dress until it went on sale...I caved in. I just kept thinking about it with my mossy oak collins and it was over for me.

Also picked up a jackie set and the Lorelei beach dress.

    OHHH free shipping!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I think I have already spent a lot due to the free shipping promo. How often do they offer this? Anyways, their repeating mistakes of sending me wrong items/color or not sending it at all is killing my interest to shop from them so often....... It seems that I'm the only one with poor luck....

  40. Oh what to do. I had the Emellines in aged driftwood but sent them back because of the short upper ankle strap, later regretted my decision but they were no longer available in my size. Then the provence pink Emellines were marked down and I decided that they might work. While they were en route the aged driftwoods in my size appeared again so I got them, fully intending to return the provence pinks. I thought I was ready tonight to package them up to return tomorrow, and I just can't do it. They're SO pretty and I've developed a serious penchant for muted-colored shoes now, thanks to J Crew. I'm waiting for a sign from the shoe gods, or my Discover bill, whichever comes first. :) My husband is strangely silent on the matter, he too is being taken over by the J Crew voodoo! We wish the men's shoes would go on sale, the monk strap Giffords are beautiful. OK peeps, see you all at [redacted] for possible updates. :)

  41. JCee Tomato,

I got so sick of receiving totally wrong items, sizes, defective popback items and getting items from orders cancelled that is why I stopped a lot of my shopping at J.Crew. It was no longer fun but a hassle. The main reason now is lack of items that are even interesting to me anymore. I have to really hunt for that special piece and/or the prices have gone sky high for the lower quality. So, no, you are not the only one.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I got an email yesterday with 20% off and free shipping for cardholders valid for one time use. Could be cuz I haven't bought anything in ages .anyone else get the same email?

    ReplyDelete
  43. @genny: I feel bad that I'm not the only one with these ridiculous problems. What's more absurd is the cs, I was told that jcrew has the best cs but I certainly don't experience that. The offer me 'pre refund" n try searching for the item, waive the return shipping charge but if I include other returns I'll have to pay for it. They're unwilling to apply disc on an order of this dress that never came previously but i Was charged. It's very disappointing. It's so much hassle I agree with u

@ chanie: I received the same coupon as well. It's only good on single purchase.

    ReplyDelete
  44. By the way, anyone see any updates today?

    ReplyDelete
  45. J Cee, I didn't see any new items added to the sale section this morning but a some items that I had bookmarked were updated. For example, the Schoolboy blazer in canvas was sold out by the end of the day yesterday, but it's back again in sizes 2,4,6, and 8. Dang it I wish I'd noticed when it first came out that it's a silk blend, I would have gotten it right away! I thought it was cotton canvas. Now I want it and of course my size isn't available.

I had a moment of clarity about the provence pink Emellines this morning. I do love them, the color is amazing, but they just don't work with my wardrobe. The aged driftwood Emellines (which arrived and I'm keeping) look very sweet, the pink ones look a lot sexier and tougher. I wish they had made the Collins in provence pink suede!

  46. I have not seen any updates today.

ALso, to continue yesterdays discussion I think it is ridiculous that we cannot post when the site updates.

    Why would J.CRew care???

Please post the times and help each other out. Who cares what J.Crew continues to change/throw at us. I cannot go through life worried about that. Would like to help other shoppers that live at various time zones get their much wanted items.

  47. Summer, I'm sure there's good info in the older posts, they can search the blog. :)

    ReplyDelete
  48. @Tamara: the blazer seems to be popular! If I come across it I'll let u know! I checked a few times today and did see any update. The free shipping charge is almost meaningless and I cant take advantage of that. I actually have my eyes on a few pair of shoes that I would lie to get if become available again.

@summer: I hope jcrew is not changing their schedule bc of this blog! Many of us rAised a critical pt, they're in the business to sell and make a profit, does it even matter who they sell it to? Jca or not?

I really hope they can improve their inventory, quality control and cs. I have to admit I can be very loyal to a brand.

  51. Shekster, be my sale section stalking partner! I need a 14 in the canvas Schoolboy, I'm sure. Email forthcoming....

  52. I'm going to miss the free shipping. I've totally abused it! So at midnight EDT tonight (or techincally tomorrow morning, since midnight is an a.m. time) I wonder if they'll replace it with a 30% off and final sale? Or extend the free shipping? Or not have any promo? I'll be watching!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Final Sale is a dirty word in my book. Don't type it please anyone! I have finally been buying again since it went away. I did not buy a thing while it was going on this last time and very proud to not give in at all......

I would rather have free ship any day than an extra % off

    ReplyDelete
  54. Updated .. 30% off, free shipping over $100, and no FS! Only problem is there isn't anything in the sale section I want right now. :) Hoping there's an update tomorrow.

  55. Worst Monday update in weeks! I do hope some of you found what you were looking for though.
