Free Shipping at J.Crew Ends Today! {sadness}

"Thanks!" to so many of you who shared the following emails from J.Crew & Madewell this morning.

Today is the last day to get free shipping for all your orders (no min!) with promo code FREESHIP. Not going to lie, this promotion is a-ma-zing! {sniffle} I am sad to see it go so soon.

I usually like to shop with an additional percent off, but free shipping + some new price reductions + no final sale + limited quantities = I just cannot resist anymore! I have already placed a few orders (from cardigans to dresses) and cannot wait to get them shipped to me.

Thanks to this promo, I have also been checking every morning for the updates to the sale section again. (For awhile I had stopped, innocently believing I owned all I really needed to own.) From the comments on this blog, I am not the only one interrupting a good night's sleep in hopes of picking up a few pop-backs! ;) While I am at it, who also believes there will be a great update tomorrow morning (once the free ship promo ends)? :)

Lastly, Madewell is offering 20% off select tees & sweats (click here to shop online). Even easier, prices are automatically reduced at checkout. This promotion will run until Friday, May 13, 2011. Customers can also enjoy free shipping on orders of $100+ with promo code GOFORIT. This code will be for a limited time.

What are your thoughts on the J.Crew FREESHIP promo? Have you been taking advantage of it? Interested in any Madewell tees & sweats? If so, please share!

  1. Haha you're right. There's totally going to be a great update to the site tomorrow morning! I haven't actually bought that much this time around. Nothing was really standing out as a "must have". And there are no free returns in Canada (I have to pay for the shipping myself), so I'm hesitant to buy anything I'm not convinced I'll love!

  2. There will probably be a better update tomorrow or the next day, but there were some markdowns this morning. I listed them also on my blog, but here you are, JCAS;

    - Wave Tank, now $49.99
    - Fineline cami in all colors, now $49.99 (I got the Brilliant Blue, should be beautiful)
    - Beatrice Blouse, now $98 (promo price, still pricey IMO)
    - Embroidered Bib Tunic, now $59.99 (the blue looks very pretty -- I'm all about Kate Middleton blue, this season)
    - Cotton Blousanna Top, now $59.50
    - Radiette Cami, now $39.99
    - Crinkled Silk Isola dress, now $99.99 (this is an older markdown)
    - Boat-house shirt-dress, now $34.99
    - Pier-stripe sweatshirt, now $34.99
    - Stripe sunburst tank, now $24.99
    - Silk and Linen V-neck sweater, now $49.99
    - Featherweight cotton cardigan, now $49.50
    - No. 2 pencil skirt, only smoky graphite is on sale, for $78.00

I'm not looking at sweaters, shoes, bags, shorts, but there are markdowns there too. Will try to go to a B&M today for returns, and to see if there are price differences!

  3. dinster, the Fineline cami in brilliant blue is gorgeous and the silk is great quality. It's been totally sold out in my size for some time, this is one I am glad I got at full price. Good score on sale, I hope you love it.

  4. Ahh FREESHIP, I'm going to miss you! I abused the heck out of you. :)

I'm getting up even earlier than usual tomorrow morning and sit in front of my computer all glossy eyed, coffee mug in hand, praying for my popbacks. I too am sensing a bigger update tomorrow, though I have to say the ones this past week weren't shabby.

  5. I waited until today to place my order with FREESHIP, and I'm so glad I did! The 5" chino shorts in the light green color went on sale, so not only did I get free shipping, I saved $10 on the color I wanted! $35 including tax for a pair of shorts is a great deal.

  6. I haven't ordered anything during this promo -- I'm going to take my chances that extra30's right around the corner. We shall see. ...

I also would like a chance to skip over to my B&M first and see what prices are like there, and see what's hanging around in the sale section.

Not that I need anything, lol.

You'd all be proud of me today. It's a little chilly, so I seized my chance to wear a sweater -- and I'm wearing my drapey sequin tank under it! At work, lol. I'm wearing the warm taupe one under my giant-shawl-collar dream sweater in warm stone, sort of a tone-on-tone effect.

I've definitely gotten some raised eyebrows, but I'm starting to think that what the world needs is a few more sequins for day. :P

  7. I have two drapey sequin tanks and I haven't worn either yet! Elaine I am proud of you for having the courage to wear sequins. :) I have the warm taupe too, it's such a beautiful color. And I have the white ash or whatever it was called. I have to hoist them up via alterations before I can wear them, I got XLs and as-is they are pretty scandalous. :)

  8. I'm surprised that I haven't bought anything during this promo! It is tempting on some of the lower-priced items, though. Has anyone tried the painted denim belt? I love the yellow color.

  10. I was happy to see the short-sleeve merino hoodie back in stock in the vintage navy, size small! I also got the Petites Victoires t-shirt. Still waiting for a promo on shoes before I order because there are a few I want!!

  11. do you think the merino maya cardigan will come back this year? i missed out on it last year and really want one for my wardrobe.

  12. AppGal - perfect belt in my opinion! Great with jeans. I almost bought it to go with the greenish Herringbone cargo dress - it looked quite nice and was casual.
Also, the leather was surprisingly soft.

  13. I am tempted to place a small order just for the sake of it. So far I only ordered the confetti striped sweater dress (it shipped, yay!) and the scout gingham chinos but I could have used another code as I was above $100. I am tempted by the "Les petites victoires" tee which I agree is very cute and I have never seen in store. Anybody can comment on sizing?

  14. I ordered the chambray dorrie skirt this morning, along with some shorts and the crew cuts fedora hat since I apparently have a small head and the womens are no where near fitting.

Noticed the Beatrice blouse was put on sale the morning in the perfect olive.

Is it weird that I get excited when a promo ends to see what is next?

  15. Also, has anyone reviewed the Short-Sleeved Merino Hoodie? I'm curious about the size...I just ordered my usual small (I take small in the Jackie), but sometimes JC stuff runs super-big or super-small.

    TIA!

  16. Thought I could do without the Elena Lace shift dress, but now I'm preparing to loose some sleep tonight in hopes it just may pop back. It's beginning to look like it's the one that got away this year. Didn't get anything for myself during "freeship" but finally convinced the hubby that he just had to have a new sport coat and of course he would need some new loafers, chinos, shirt and tie to go along with. Got a bit carried away by the thought of us "Crewsing" together, Lol.

  17. Eh, what's one more order before the FREESHIP promo ends?

After reading about how so many JCAs love the Silk Driving Scarf, I picked it up on sale in the Modern Red floral pattern. Love the orange and peacock blue in it. Damn, this blog is bad for my wallet. And by "my" I mean "my husband's" ;)

  18. So sad that the free shipping ends today. I really wish they would go back to this type of code on a regular/daily basis like they did several years ago. Anyone remember those days, back before the infamous website upgrade?

  19. I loved this promo so much, I placed an order every morning since Monday!

  20. Could some nice person tell me what a popback is? I am rather new here. Thanks!

  22. Thank you Tamara for recommending the Collins Peeptoes in Mink. I did not think much of them online. However, after seeing them on you and DaniBP I was convinced of their merits. They look great on, run TTS and are very soft and comfy for such a high heel.

I highly recommend them to JCAs who wear heels while free shipping is available. You won't be disappointed.

Thanks again Tamara for singing their praises!

  23. Welcome Cancan! A 'popback' is an item that's from a past season (sometimes a past YEAR, or YEARS even! lol) that randomly and mysteriously pops up in the sale section. It happens more than you might think. Some of us have scored incredible deals on things we'd long given up for dead this way. It's just luck of the draw. ...

  24. Cancan, a popback is a sale item that was previously soldout and that magically reappears on the website (when the website it's updated, that typically happens around 6 ET). It's totally impredictable and we have seen stuff a few years old popback, that's why people get up early ready to jump on the popback. So if you have a coveted item that is currently soldout chances are that it will popback (you just have to be there at tge right time).

  25. I just got another one of the satin clutches, in club green. I already have a pine green one. But with sorority-related functions, I can never have enough pink or green.
I'm still salty that they don't have a light shale featherweight cardigan in my size, though.

  26. Did some reviews and thought I would mention it here too.

There are some goodies: cecilia dress, doria dress, maxi check, sailor strip, etc.

  27. So mad!!! My weekend dress came in and magically took shape as a blue swimsuit - WTH? Also, the peplum blouse is tiny. It fit, but the sleeves are petite. It's short too. I would recommend sizing up two sizes to get a decent fit. It's so pretty but the quality is somewhat off. Definitely not with full price. Going back!!

  28. Can someone please tell me what the orange big check short sleeve button down was called? It also came in grey check and is on sale in stores now
    TIA

  29. The FREESHIP promo has been extended another day, apparently. Now the expiration is Thursday at 11:59pm EDT. Now I'm even more glad I bought the Emellines today, I was thinking about waiting because I thought there might be a %-off promo tomorrow. I'll get up at my usual time then. (Praying to the popback gods.)

  30. Thanks for the reviews Megan. You had some great picks !

  31. I received my order from the 20% cardholder discount last night. Here are my thoughts:

    a) Linen Swoon Skirt - this does NOT run TTS. I ordered my normal 0 and I could barely zip it. Also, the bow isn't as it is shown on-line. It doesn't actually un-tie, it is a fixed bow, which I didn't like. The Casablana blue color, however, is beautiful. But since it doesn't fit, I will be returning.

    b) Silk Casbah Blouse - This is the short sleeve version only on-line. SO pretty! Love the print and it fits great, TTS. And you can even wash it . . .bonus!

    c) Vintage cotton lace tee - Very cute and flattering, not too see through. I think it will be cute with khakis and some fun bracelets and colorful pumps for work. I think it was worth the price I paid, which was 20% off tees, plus the 20% off cardholder. Wait till it goes on sale again, but then snatch it up!

Hope that helps! Since the swoon skirt didn't work, I might sneak a pencil skirt from Factory today. I'm jonesing for a new skirt. :)

  32. I had to laugh this morning, I overslept! I was intending to wake up at 4am CDT, but I think I failed to set the alarm so didn't wake up until 5:45am, which is pretty miraculous because I didn't go to bed until 12:30am. I see there was an update to the sale section and I hope I didn't miss any of my target items. What's funny about oversleeping is that prior to becoming a J Crew addict I never would have considered waking up at 5:45am "late". :) Ahhh, I remember the old days, when I used to wake up at 7:30am, or sometimes even 8am.

  33. Hi Ema: Just got the petites victoires shirt the other day and wore it last night. I'm tall (5'9") and a size 4. The small fits perfectly and is very comfy. Basically, I think it's true to size and doesn't ride up or down, so long enough, too, even for a long torso. I didn't like paying full price but I'm a Francophile, so...had to have it! Free shipping clinched it. Hope this helps...

  34. The American Observer, thank you for letting me know. I ended up ordering an xs, and based on what you said it should be the right size for me. Glad that you like it, mine should be here tomorrow!
