Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available in the FALL & WINTER sale, or to see some new HOLIDAY arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  2. Been logging onto J.Crew, but don't see any indication of the promo! I took Heidi and mommydearest's word for it and went again and tried to purchase some sale items. But hmmm...for some reason I am not getting free shipping!!

I have about $202.44 worth of sale merchandise in my cart, and get a discount of $50.63 (which is the 25% promo), which brings my total to 151.81 (which is over $150) but I don't see the free shipping discount.

Guess, I try again in the morning! I'll try to catch the sale update early early morning!

  3. Wondering if the sweater promo is going to be taken off at some point too - I just ordered the "Bling" Cardigan for around $40 (the discounted price minus the extra 25% off)... wondering if I should go for more sweaters while the 20% off is still in effect or wait till morning. I'm holding out for some popbacks!

  4. Looking for the vintage fleur top in a 6 with a sale price please. Also the Evening Primrose Cardi. I sold mine and regret it Prfr sale price. EUC is fine for both items. Itsmelealee@gmail.com

  5. Sandra, if inventory is low in what you want, I say go ahead and order it then call CS and have them refund the shipping charges. That is annoying, I know, but worth it if you really want what's in your cart :)

  6. If someone can snag a Maya Cardi in Amber Medium for the sale price I would love one. I work nights and cant be awake for popbacks. It would Be GREATLY appreciated. Itsmelealee@gmail.com

  7. With the new promo, I don't see that many things that I want... Here's to hoping for a morning update =)

  10. Couldn't find $150 worth of items still in my shopping cart that totalled that amount after the 25% makrdown so I could qualify for free ship too. JC is getting sneaky and gong back to thrre old promo ways...$150 after code. Too bad the deals are gettng worse not better.

    I would have ordered otherwise.

  11. If anyone sees the contrast perfect fit shirt (item 15463) in a size 4 in their store, please put on hold for me and e-mail mjr001@gmail.com. It's the cotton chambray shirt with the chest pockets. TIA

  13. I'll be checking out the Jeffersonville outlet this weekend. Hopefully I'll find cool stuff...but I've already spent a lot (albeit on the husband), so something will need to really catch my eye. And fit.

  14. Just got another package w/ a missing item! Ah! I have no idea what goes on in the warehouse?! What a disappointment JCrew!!

And just some info, I received a popback bead stone necklace w/ no tag... so watch out for some popbacks, they might be used or just plain tagless!

  15. I was in yesterday and the sale section was packed full. There were a ton of Tivolis in the Amber Grey, Antler tees, Evie tops, and the other *usual suspects*. Most of the sizes in the sale section are M-XL, so I never have much luck finding anything there anymore, unfortunately. Every now and then I get lucky like I did with the Annalise cami that I happened to get for $19.99 (like others have reported). There seemed to be sale prices in the front of the store, too, so be sure to check your *non-sale* area for other deals. :)

  16. I'm dissapointed with today's online promo, especially since the bling button cardi is now $41.25 after the 25% discount but the cherry color I wanted is gone. I saw a bunch at my B&M a few days ago so I'm headed there at lunchtime... also hoping to get my hands on an XS antler tee...

  17. Debra - I've seen some Evening Primrose cardigans on e-bay.

    ReplyDelete
  18. debra, they have vintage fleur tops on sale at both rockefeller center and 5th ave in nyc. I didn't look at sizes, but there seemed to be plenty, so it might be worth checking it.

  19. Debra, I also saw the fleur top at the Liberty Place store in Philadelphia. good luck!

  20. Michelle (in Philadelphia), see any other sale items in Liberty?

  21. Ugh, just received the three items I ordered with the snowman promo: alpaca long shawl cardi, cashmere popover and downtown trouser cords. The cashmere popover is the best of the lot, though it still looks a little flimsy. The downtown trouser cords are OK, though with this crazy vanity sizing, of course they're STILL baggy, even though I ordered down a size. The alpaca long shawl cardi is the real disappointment. Really thin, really acrylic. I'm wearing it now and trying so hard to love it, but I just don't think it's worth even the $48 I paid for it. I'm sure the CS think I'm a horrible customer because I keep returning EVERYTHING, but I'm not sure what to do when everything is of such low quality. (I wonder if they'll notice that the percentage of items returned has risen overall. Maybe that'll show them that there is also a concrete cost of trying to make everything 50% acryclic, in addition to the fact that it alienates loyal customers.)

I'm starting to wonder if much of my excitement about J.Crew isn't just a residual feeling from the days when I used to open up the box to find beautiful, thoughtfully-crafted garments made of high-quality materials. Now, I open it and find clothes that look like the made-in-China version of children's toys: cheap, mass-produced garbage all conceived with an eye for maximizing profits. (I say that last part because I know they're still capable of making great clothes, because the sweaters I ordered for the BF all look amazing...I'm so jealous!) Although I might like the items a little on first wear, most of what I've received looks like it will be in tatters within a few wears. Seriously, if I wanted an H&M-quality sweater, I would have bought it at H&M, and for half the price. I've had this experience with the many orders I've placed in the last two months, so I don't think it's just a fluke. and the sad thing is that the prices have gone up at the same time! The pictures and styling are still beautiful (though with the ruffles on everything they're moving a bit away from my own tastes), so I doubt I'll ever stop loving Crew, but I think my actual purchasing needs to slow down. Before buying in the future, I will be researching them to find out what you all had to say first, and I will be looking to places like Land's End to fill the void.

Sorry for the rant, but hope you can all can benefit from my mistake with the alpaca long shawl at least.

  22. Oh, and ps., for those of you who are West Coasters like me and always miss out on the early morning sale update frenzy, I stayed up late last night to check it out, and let me just say that I thought I knew what a popback was, but I had no idea! There was about a half hour where the most amazing things were being sold at the most absurd prices, esp. if you add in the 25% discount -- mohair cardis in many sizes for $39.99, cashmere 3/4 sleeve cardi for $29.99, trentino for $39.99 (I think), chambray utility shirt for $19.99, collier top for $29.99, etc.. To give a sense of the bounty, there were 80 sale sweaters at 2:30 a.m. PST (AFTER they had already removed the sweaters from the 20% off promo), and now there are 46. It was so exciting! We on the West Coast really miss out! For those of you looking for the quality items, I think that may be the only way to shop the sale section, unfortunately.

  23. Just returned from the 45th & Madison store in NYC. Sale section was a bit crowded but here's what I saw: Annalise camis sizes 2 and 4 in the peach color I believe (marked $49.99); a bunch of mohair cardis in assorted sizes and colors; Merino rose corsage cardis in assorted sizes and colors (not sure of the sale price but they're full price online - may be worth checking out); a few boiled wool cardis; and a number of Evie ruffle camis in black and light berry.

My PS was able to find me the bling button cardi in cherry (yay!!) but I'm still a little sad that I haven't found the antler tee in XS in light amethyst. If anyone sees it in store, please let me know! darashapiro(at)gmail

  24. Dara, if it will make you feel any better, my "light amythest" antler tee has a hole in the front (after three wearings). Also, "light amythest" means "gray". :-(

  25. Simplestisbest, I totally agree in terms of the depreciating quality of items overall, but I do have to stick up for the alpaca shawl cardi because I bought mine at full price and LOVE it! So much, in fact, that when I found out the bling button cardis were the same knit, I bought 4 of them. I actually didn't realize the shawl cardi was on sale and now I wish I hadn't placed an order this morning because I want it in black...

  26. Hexicon, thanks, I do feel a little better! (Although I feel sad for you - that REALLY stinks)

The funny thing is, I saw one yesterday at my B&M and while I was on line to buy it, I noticed it had two gaping holes already! I figured another customer must've snagged it with her jewelry or something but I guess it's a problem with all of them...

  27. I'm still a little new to this blog, so maybe you guys can help--when is the best time of day (on the East Coast) to find the coveted "pop backs"? I'm intrigued, especially because they haven't put the dreaded "Final Sale" on yet...

  28. Dara, I so want to love the alpaca shawl cardi, but I'm just worried it's going to fall apart on me! Thanks for letting me know your experience with it. I'll have to give it a second look... : )

Kristin, I was on the site at about 5a EST this morning and that's when the popbacks started appearing (then quickly disappearing).

ps. forgot to mention that the nolita black denimc jacket was $39.99 this morning

What color is the annlisa cami that is selling for $19.99. It is just the awful melon color or any of th more normal (IMO)shades. I would rather put my $20 towards a shade more flattering but if it other colors as well might be worth a look.

  30. Hexicon,
Sorry to hear about your antler tee. I think you've mentioned you also have the reindeer embellished tee, right? How do you wear it? I've tried it on two times and walked away, because it's so very very sheer. I don't wear cardigans, so the only other way to make it decent that I can think of is to wear it over a tissue t-neck ... ? It's so adorable, but I keep putting it down because of practicality and paying $50 for a tissue-thin tee... love to hear feedback on how others are rockin' around the Christmas tree wearing this baby :-)

  31. Summer: The Annalise I purchased is Dark Slate. :)

  32. Yes, I'm chiming in from bed! You have to look for the slim stretch buttondown shirts (87699) in-store. I found 3 for $19.99/ea. Good colors...black, papaya & the deep maroon. Sorry I don't have the exact color names. I found them in Pleasanton (maroon) & WC (blk, papaya).

  33. Dara:
There were ton of antler tees at Brea store this morning. Lots of things on sale but mostly picked over. No scarfs left. Selective socks and tights were on sale. One Keaton cardigan size small left. Maybe 3 leopard print cardis. Perfect pencil skirts were $69.99.
There were too many people so I didn't have chance to check everything.

  34. Helene, I have the hazelnut reindeer tee and don't find it to be horribly sheer--I've worn it under my chocolate Bella jacket and chocolate Tartine sweater. I tore up my closet the other day because I wanted to try layering it over my espresso long sleeved tissue tee and couldn't find it. Then I remembered I tossed the tissue tee due to giant holes at the armpit.

  35. has anyone seen any pleated paulette tops at any stores in a 0???

    tia!! :)

  36. natalie, they have pleated paulette tops at rockefeller center. I can't comment as to sizing, but it might be worth calling to ask.

  37. FFM (or anyone else),
which size did you get inthe Annalise? I have 2s in the Evies and Kelsey and Victoria but need a 4 in perfect fit.
TIA!! (crossing my fingers there is a dark slate in my size!)

    ReplyDelete
  38. mommydearest: I ended up with the size 2 and it fits nicely. I think I could also wear the 0, which would probably fit a bit better in the bust area, but I think it could possibly *just fit* at the hip and then I'd have to deal with the fabric *pulling* there. For reference, I wear a 0 in the Evie and a 2 in the Perfect fit. HTH! The Dark Slate is very pretty IRL, and looks beautiful with the Watercolor Leopard Cardigan. :)

    ReplyDelete
  39. mommydearest - I tried a 2 in the Annalise and the fit was good. However, at a really good sale price I might size up one if that's all they had.

    $0.02

    ReplyDelete
  40. FFM and Gigi, thanks! That is very helpful. I think you are both smaller than I so I'll try a 4...hope they have one! :)

LOL Gigi, I am so guilty of price buying. I am trying to reform and only choose it I I love it and it fits. It helps that I have awesome PSs too who will order anything for me:)

    Thank you both again

    ReplyDelete
  41. Oh Gigi meant to thank you for responding earlier this week about the tissue Victoria. I wore mine for the first time today and whine it looks adorable and the (crewlet) cashmere Henley perfectly features the neckline, the tissue is so unstructred it already looks droopy. I'll let you guys know how it washes. I am really hoping it will come out well because I love the Victoria but I hate drycleaning.

    ReplyDelete
  42. mommydearest - Thx for posting on the Victoria neckline. I am going to keep the grey no matter what. However, a droopy neckline sounds like it would make the white one look cheap as it is already thin. I may have to return that one. "Price buying" ... I like that term.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Hexicon,
thanks - I didn't realize it came in a brown color; I've only seen the ivory. It is awfully cute - I may spring for it yet :-)

    ReplyDelete
  44. Helene, IMO the hazelnut reindeer tee is much cuter than the white, because the beading stands out better, plus solves the sheerness issue you mention. It is a medium golden brown color--looks like it is S/O online but worth checking stores for.
