J.Crew Email: Extra 20% off final sale & FREE SHIPPING. Online & in stores.

"Thanks!" to Marietta who let us know about the email sent this morning from J.Crew.

J.Crew is reminding us that they are offering 20% off any purchase {no minimum} and free shipping {on $150+} with promo code EXTRA20. This offer is good through 1/3/10.

What is new is that this promotion is available in brick & mortar (B&M) stores now too. It's great that stores will be offering an additional 20% off sale merchandise, but it sucks that those items are now "Final Sale" too.

Will you be taking advantage of this promotion? Are there any sale items you are interested in getting?

  1. Jcrew in Milwaukee, wi at Mayfair has extra 30% Final Sale but selection is really picked over

  2. But of course, the website isn't updated so we're all basically picking through leftovers...

  3. There was a small update I think, Regina. It wasn't anything like the last few that have been huge. Still, I agree, things are fairly picked over at this point.

My store's sale section is small to begin with so I don't expect it will be a source of many bargains for me. I'm not planning to visit B&M this weekend.

  4. There was a small update this morning and I finally snagged a few items that I had been stalking.
I am on vacation and too far from a B&M so am stuck with online leftovers...
    Happy Shopping JCAs!

  5. I stayed up till the wee hours for what I now call "the flip." It went up 100 items. Nothing calling my name. I wish I could get to a b&m. My PS does such a good pull for me. Oh...wait...I could do my own pull from clothes I haven't worn yet. *lol*

  6. I had a gift card in my stocking, yay! But I think I am going to hang on to it for a while. Too many of my recent purchases have been mistakes in quality or fit and I don't want to make an impulsive FS mistake just because I have some free $$ in my pocket. (Although I seem to be intrigued by the ruffle cascade jacket . . . as if I need more pink and more ruffles!)

  8. Which coat is featured in the photo for this post? It looks like the peacoat, but longer. I like it.

I only want one thing but it is not available in my color and size so I'll have to check for the daily update and hope it comes back soon.

  9. I wonder if Final Sale in the stores will last as long as it does online this time around? What a bummer to shop in the B&M and have to deal with Final Sale there, too. Perhaps it will be like last time when you could just pay the sale price without the additional percent off so that your purchase wasn't final?

  10. It was 30% off in my b&m as well, but final sale. At least you can try stuff on in stores. I bought 2 crewcuts bracelets. Then, went back later with my sister and found a gray pencil skirt! It wasn't out the first time I was in there - one sa said that it was a return. Lots of people shopping, too. I had to wait in line about 20 minutes the second time. As for sale, it's the usual suspects. The cords are much better priced in store, but they didn't have my size in what I wanted. And, not everything that's on sale online is on sale in store. I want the Elizabeth blouse in white and it's on sale online but not in my b&m, and they wouldn't match the sale price. Oh, well, at least it's not selling out online or here. I'll continue to wait.

  11. Math teacher,
I just got back from the Chas B&M. I got some great corduroy pants for $20 each. Also got the snowflake tee for $20. I had to do some returns, so I did not have a choice about waiting in the long line. I didn't complain though. They were moving customers pretty quickly and it is great for their business. Nice to see a busy store.

  12. I tried checking the J.Crew site out today and it was locking up, stalling, freezing, sending me evil error messages so I took that as a sign from God that I don't need anything from J. Crew.

I will be going to a B&M on Monday. Will report back on findings.

  13. Came back from my the local b&m store. EVERYTHING that was on sale was picked over! It was pretty disgusting since some wool pants and sweaters were already pilling. Nothing that I really wanted. The items were either still too expensive or I couldn't find my size. Banana had 30% in addition to their sale items. Bought a pair of touser pants for $48! Now that is a deal.

  14. Went to the Crewlet today in Park City UT. Extra 40 off clearance and it was pretty well stocked. I got a retail Astrid for 23.99 and Matchstick cords for 9.88! All coats were 69.99. Also the Crewlet version of Victoria LS shirt was 29.99.

  15. Thanks for the tip. My daughters have discovered JCrew too and I need any extra bonus I can get.

  16. I went to the Polaris (Columbus, OH) store this morning and half of the women's section is empty - like...completely bare. It was that way on Dec. 24th as well. I imagine they'll be getting the new resort items in stock soon, but man, it looks BAD when you have shoppers everywhere for day-after sales and the store has no merchandise! The Easton store wasn't much better - the sale section had been seriously depleted, but they did still have a good bit in the way of pajamas in stock (not on sale either, I don't think).

  17. South Coast Plaza (Costa Mesa, CA) had 30% and final sale. Although tons of people and pretty picked over, there were some gems. Leopard dresses which were not located in the sale section were still available. Cashmere was $99 plus 30% off. I picked up a vintage fleur top for $40 final sale price. Had sizes 8 & 10 left. Also, outerwear was 30% off - they had ribbon coats in 3 colors. Lots of the dressy strapless ruffle dresses in black.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Yes as for others, store is extra30 and cashmere $99 plus extra30. Look carefully though as 2 cardigans I picked up were damaged - sleeve coming unstitched on one and black marks on the sleeve of the other. Plus be prepared to brave the flinging masses to find anything :) Stock was sort of okay. Lots of some things - PJs, graphic tees, merino cardis, hit or miss with other things eg cashmere.

  19. I recently received the blushed tweed collier jacket. It's very nice, but it runs large. In fact I might be returning because it's too big, but I don't see a smaller size available on the web site-not sure if it's in stores.
Anyone interested in a size 4 (esp those who usually wear a 6)??? I can post it on the weekly exchange, but I'm not sure if I'm ready to part with it. :(

    ReplyDelete
  20. At the store I saw lots of damaged goods. Merino ruffle corsage sweaters with snags or small holes on the sleeve or front. Uneven hems on some tuxedo sweaters right in the front. So not impressed with most items that were left....I would order online even though percent off is less. You have a better chance of not receiving shop worn goods.

  21. Rats on Parade - Thanks for the Columbus update. I haven't made it to the mall yet but was considering heading out Sunday afternoon. I think I"ll stalk online popbacks until the resort wear is in stock.

  22. Forgot to mention that I overhead a SA tell a customer that there would be some arrivals on Tuesday at the Charleston store. He said that it was not expectec to be big.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Leader Girl, you're right. My ps said that the next roll out would start happening Monday, with everything on the floor by Tuesday morning. This is the first of the resort line. I'll be down this week just to see and try on.

  24. Just came back from Smithtown B&M (Long Island) -- 30% off final sale as well. Got a Merino turtleneck for $39.99 + 30% off (online is $49.99 + 20% off). Also the merino microstripe long cardigan for same price. Score!

They had some snowflake tees, evie camis, long professor cardis, and perfect shirts -- all in XS and S sizes. I almost got the crinkled perfect shirt for $19.99 plus 30% off, but decided against it because it's so itchy against the skin.

    Happy shopping everyone!

  25. Beware silk ruffle cascade jacket. I have received two with several flaws in the silk and they are pulled or stained spots.

  26. Some of the stores here in NYC have pretty good sale section. I scored some good stuff with extra 30% off! Beware of the damaged items as others have said... also "missing" parts... I was trying to return a top with belt and the belt was missing when I bought it but the manager who happened to rang me up told me that the top is considered DAMAGED due to the missing belt and refused to let me return it! She asked me to go back to the exact store where I bought it... I was like ARE YOU KIDDING ME???!!! I walked around the sale section in that store after that and saw the same top... missing the belt in every single piece! They didn't offer any additional discount for the so-called "damage" yet they refuse to let the customers return the item? How stupid is that?!

  28. Saw a few Carlin coats in the SF store and in Palo Alto. Give them a call and see. Can't hurt. Good luck!

  29. Scored a pair of destroyed matchsticks in-store for $21 :)...

And finally tried on the much talked-about Minnie pant...uh, not for me, thanks! They looked all right in most places but in one critical place -- uh, no...

However, I did try the new skimmer pant and they are wonderful...For those gals who did not like how the Minnie may have hugged certain areas of their anatomy, give these a try. (#22526, petite:#24013)

  30. I stopped into JC on Saturday morning and sale was too picked over so I didn't even bother looking. There's nothing I really want from fall/winter anymore.

I did stop into Club Monaco, which has some lovely cardigans this season, all marked down and they let me use my 20% student discount on top of the sale prices. It may become a nice JC alternative for me since BR has been so drab lately and AT, while getting more stylish, still often looks targeted to an older woman.

  31. Anyone know when Jcrew will update the site with resort items?

  32. can anyone comment on the stretch wool olive dress? I have been eyeing it, and all of the sudden its on final sale! blah. how about putting it on regular sale first, j.crew?

  33. Gosh, Summer, I think I would stop buying J Crew with all of the problems you encounter. Doesn't sound like there's too much happiness to be had there for you:(

    Audball-congrats on the jeans score!

I will be avoiding my store until after all of the after-Christmas hoopla dies down. Glad to hear I am not missing out on too many deals;)

    ReplyDelete
  34. sweetsy,

Yes, I think I am going to have to start my own blog like the one on the blog roll (that another has started) and just think of a similar but different title. Hers is The Year I Bid Adieu to JCrew but hers is for different reasons.

Mine would just be b/c of poor quality and getting fed up with receiving defective goods. I see them in the stores as well but when you order you hope for better. I mean each box I get I am just expecting something to be defective. Last order of 5 items I only had the defective jacket that needed to be returned but when the replacement came even worse than the first...well...

  35. Hello!

I went to Tysons yesterday and they had a lot of sale merch that was an additional 30% off. I saw a bunch of coats (size 6 anyone?!) and a lot of cords.

I was browsing through the coats and I snagged the ruffle front wool coat in black size 2! It was the only size 2 and I bolted with it. It was 179.99 and then marked down the additional 30%. I had some returns to make and I ended up being credited $45! I will use that when the new roll out comes in.

But if you are looking for coats in a size 6--call Tysons!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Thanks, Sweetsy! It's always fun finding a bargain :)

I forgot to update what I saw on sale (not much!):

    1. one camino coat in dusty blossom (size 8), $179.99 but add 30% off final sale

    2. quite a few black plazas or lady days (not quite sure which) $189.99 but add 30% off

    3. annalise camis and evie ruffled tops in a bunch of colors and sizes (except 8, which I needed!) $19.99 and $29.99, but add 30% off

    4. vintage destroyed matchsticks in busted stone wash in 30S, 31S, and a few other sizes. $29.99 but add 30% off.

All were final sale items. So no returns, exchanges.
I'm in Oregon, where we have no sales tax. The JC in Pioneer Place 503 228 2739

  37. audball: Do you recall what colors of the annalise camis were on sale for $19.99 or $29.99? I am desperately searching for the dark charcoal in a size 0. TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  38. shopalot: there were a lot of the melon color annalises but no darker colors. There was one evie in black in a 6, but nothing in dark charcoal. But you should call and check...the staff there is pretty nice and it wasn't swamped yesterday at all...

    ReplyDelete
  39. audball: Thanks so much! I will try calling this afternoon after I hit the local J Crew to do returns. Maybe I'll be lucky to find it here and won't have to pay for shipping.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Has anyone seen the Stadium cloth Boulevard trench in their stores? I am looking for a size 10 in black. Wonder if any will make their way back to the website. Probably not if they are $199 with 30% off in stores...

    ReplyDelete
  41. JCrew finally jumped the shark with their final sale nonsense. Cashmere hoodie, item 17859, shows up as a final sale item even though it's not in the sale section and it's still selling at full price. I tried adding it to the shopping cart, and it's still marked "final sale."

    ReplyDelete
  42. Stopped in to the Ann Arbor store to do a return today, 30% off sale there too. It's down to bare bones but the SA said new arrivals come in today, so I may go back in a day or two to check it out. Sale was sad, lots of the glitter miniaudieres left, no surprise there. I also saw several cardis with pulls and some pill-y fabrics, so left without anything. They did have a good number of cute sleep/lounge chemises in pink, blue print and tan stripe for 14.99, xs-l, and the tissue Victoria in the bright melony color, xs-s, one m, for 29.99 I think. A couple ls tissue ruffle henleys in white, L, for 19.99, and the last stragglers of the antler tees were 14.99. One brown down vest in xl left, and a mixed bag of the sherpa hoodies, which still haven't gone down any more, still 39.99-49.99. (Last year I got a blue one for ten bucks, so I refuse to pay more than twenty for another one, although the quality is nice.) Tissue turtles are 24.99, sleep pants 29.99, and there was a couple stacks of the raindeer tees still 29.99. I notices the fuzzy feather pins are still full price in store but have sold out of the sale online, they are pretty cute IRL so I may bite if I see a popback.

Men's sale was looking scant as well. I'm kind of bummed, for the last couple years I would stock up on plain crewneck and vneck solid lambswool and the cotton-cashmere blend sweaters to give to the guys in my family, buying in advance for the next round of gift giving. I always got a ton in the $13-20 range, depending on the percent off, but this year the discount just isn't there. Pretty disappointing.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Cheesy Goodness - I also stock up on discounted items for gift-giving the next year. I buy all throughout the year when the sales are good. This Christmas I gave my husband a jersey polo, jeans, leather belt, flip-flops and a pair of flannel pj pants, purchased throughout the year, all for less than $100. My son got 3 button-down shirts, a cotton-cashmere sweater, slippers and a pair of jeans for about the same amount. Lots of bang for comparatively little buck.

I suspect there will be another sale update this week but with the 30% blowout in stores and the lower inventory this year it will likely be short lived.

  44. If anyone is looking for the perfect paisley shirt, the North Michigan Ave. (Chicago) store had tons. The color on the tag says GRA -- it is the one with the purple color (Grape?) in it, not the pumpkin one. $19.99 plus 30% off. Great price for a really cute shirt.

New resort arrivals are in. Very cute printed cardigans (abstract print merino, dotted merino) and a new version of the chiffon rose t-shirt from last year. It's a v-neck this year. I bought the white one; also saw it in a very soft pink color. Gorgeous cotton (I think) longer shawl collar cardigan in dove gray but did not try on as it was $118. Lots of shorts, too, for you ladies going on warm weather vacations, as well as new swimwear, flip flops, etc. Forgot to ask when the new catalog would be available.

  45. Completely OT but does anyone else ever have one of those days where it seems like EVERYONE is wearing J.Crew? I know, I know, I'm obsessed, but today my three female coworkers are wearing the Victoria ruffle cami, the space dyed cardi and the hammered metal skirt (respectively). Seems I'm not the only one spending too much time at the B&M around the corner! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  46. Extra 30% in Sacramento/Roseville B&M, but terrible selection!

re:Summer - I recently received a pair of suede shoes that had a mark on one toe that could not be brushed off - looked like a water spot. I couldn't be bothered to return them as I knew they would not offer to refund me the absurd $15 shipping. If only their customer service were better, I'd shop at J.Crew more than Nordstrom ;)

  48. Shopalot, I called the North Michigan Ave store in Chicago and the SA insisted they never had the paisley perfect shirt in any color but the mustard, and they only had the mustard in a size 8. Too bad because I love paisley.

OT: Remember the Steve Madden Melin shoes I bought from Amazon? I ordered the exact same size and style from stevemadden.com in black and white. I just opened the box today, and they're a full inch shorter than the solid black. It's the second pair of Steve Madden shoes I've returned due to whacky sizing. Apparently JCrew isn't the only retailer with quality control issues.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Jeanne - I believe the the mustard paisley shirt is the one with purple in it. I own it and it does have shades of gray, yellow, and purple. Back when I was looking for it, I called down to my own b&m and they told me they didn't have it. Well, next time I was in, there it was! So, if you like paisley, I'd go for it. It's really a great shirt. My $.02

  50. Jeanne - J Crews SAs can be really crewless. And they really irritate me today not looking for things. They "know" the item I requested is sold out and cannot be bothered to go check. Ummm...were you at the store when it closed last nite and everything put back in place? Have you watched every return come back across the counter? Probably no and no. In contrast, I *do* love & appreciate the Anthro SAs who patiently ask for the item number and bother to go check. One that helped me last week knew that the cardi I wanted wasn't on the floor and hadn't been for awhile. Way to know your merch! My charge/send is on its way. I realize this is 'just a job' for some, but dang...be the best in it while you're doing it. I'm in a yawn mood w/J Crew right now and shopping elsewhere online.

    ReplyDelete
  51. gigiofca, sorry that some SAs are "crewless", haha!

    ReplyDelete
  52. CaptainCrew - there were quite a few stadium cloth trenches at the Lenox store in Atlanta when I was there. Navy, gray and black, if I remember correctly. It's been a couple weeks now but there were quite a few size 10s. I know that for sure as it is my size too and I tried one on but was more interested in the Winnie.

Try giving them a call, they may have some left. HTH

    ReplyDelete
  53. Gigi and Mathteacher, I agree that SAs generally don't do a thorough job searching for items, but with an out of state store we're at their mercy. It's frustrating.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Jeanne: Sounds like you got a "crewless" sales associate on the phone. North Michigan Avenue had at least a dozen of the shirts at 2:00 pm today. They are on hangers in the back of the store in the sale section closest to the men's area. My receipt says "Paisley Lawn Perfect Shirt". Style 17411, Color GRA, price w/discount $13.99.

    ReplyDelete
  55. North Ave in Chicago has the new resort shipment in. Picked up a new catalogue too. They are now selling exclusive J.Crew Sperry's for women now, in a really great gold.

As for the sale- not too picked over. Tons of annalise camis and evie ruffled tops.

    ReplyDelete
  56. shopalot,
Do they have a size 10?
    Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Genny: Went back today and checked the sale rack for you. I'm sorry, they have the paisley shirt in sizes 0, 2, 4, 6 and 8, but no 10. As others have reported, final sale is now extra 20% off, no longer 30%.
