  1. I received the Veronique platform peep-toe Mary Janes yesterday, and they are gorgeous! The tobacco is a nice, rich brown, and the suede is soft. I have to say, though, the shoe runs a little big... I'm normally a 6.5, but the only way the shoe fit more snug is with a heel liner. I don't know if I would need to size down to a 6, as I don't think the shoe was that much bigger. The heel liner worked perfectly, and now my heel doesn't kick up when I walk. I would recommend ordering both your normal size and a half size smaller for comparison. These are a keeper, and I may order the other colors when the price drops further. HTH!

  2. I'm still hoping there's another good % off and FS coming this week in time for Christmas!!! C'mon, JCrew!!

  3. I am waiting for free shipping no minimum.

  4. OT: tried the merino rose corsage cardi and was very disappointed. The color just kind of flops and does not look nice and the roses did not look like the picture online. Probably why it is on sale already in stores....just watch out when it goes on final sale so you don't get stuck with it!

  5. I'm also waiting for FS + % off. Maybe I'm just being too greedy. But I was rather turned off the last promotion - 30% off $250+ but no FS. It doesn't seem like J.Crew is being competitive when other retailers are all offering FS for minimum purchases like $25-$50.

Even with Gap, BR, their shipping is only $7.

Then again, it's possible that I'm expecting too much. :)

  6. I am not going to order with this promo. I too am waiting for additional % off with free shipping and more sale items.

  7. I probably won't take advantage of this promotion, since I just bought the last of my Christmas gifts with the last free shipping code, but I'm excited to share that with my recent purchase, J.Crew included a free flower headband (nice surprise). Has anyone else experienced this?

  8. OT for a couple of posters that mentioned the Steve Madden Melin Oxfords. I was looking at the December 4th photo on The Sartorialist site. Love her Oxfords and while I bought the Tuxxedo black and whites, I'm thinking I want the Cognac in this style. Well, they're selling out everywhere in my size! Where did you get your Steve Madden Melin Oxfords?

  9. Never been that into their knits and tees. My all time favorite things from JC are their sweaters and coats! I am waiting for another offer more exciting, like 30% and fs again. I would bite only then.

OT, the wool duffle coat is wonderful! It is not too heavy, but is it still warm. Well made for sure and great quality.

  10. @ Genny: Thanks for your comment about the merino rose corsage cardigan! It seems really cute and I was thinking of getting it but had no idea what it was like in RL.

Seems like I'm the only one that ordered with their knits and tees promo! I really hope they come out with a better promo, I would love to get some more stuff for christmas!

After so many positive comments, I'm seriously considering the wool duffle coat! :)

  11. Laura, I order 2 pairs of the Steve Madden Melin oxfords (cognac and black patent) from Amazon when they had their Black Friday promotion. I love them so much that I ordered a 3rd pair in black and white from stevemadden.com yesterday (CYBER35 = 35% off and free shipping). I really wanted the silver, but they seem to be sold out everywhere. The Tuxx style in gold/silver are sized VERY small. I couldn't find any large enough for my size 9 feet; even the size 10 was very tight.

Regarding the JCrew tees sale: I didn't see anything I want online, but I picked up two long sleeve perfect fit tees when I was returning some things today. They were $19.50 in store, which isn't a particularly good price, but I wanted the light grey heather and oatmeal heather that seem to be OOS online. I was in a hurry so I didn't have time to look around much.

  12. Jeanne, thank you, they are sold out in size 9 at Amazon and at Nordstrom where I got the Tuxxedo style but I haven't tried Steve Madden.com so I'll try there, thanks! I was also wondering if other mall stores carry Steve Madden. I don't normally buy that brand but they are ahead of the curve with the spectator style Oxfords. I know J. Crew is coming out with a pale color in the Spring, but that's...Spring!

  13. OT - Just returned my size 10 camel duffle coat to the NYC Columbus Circle store if anyone is interested. It's sold out/not listed online with all size 10 backordered. It's a great coat but know myself-- I exchanged it for the navy (wild blackberry) color instead, which I'll wear about a million times more. They were available in-store, one size 0 and many size 6s left.

  14. Diana,
If I already did not own way too many coats I would get that one too! As it is I don't need to buy a winter coat for a VERY LONG time but if you need one...good choice.

  15. Diana,

I really wanted that sweater too but it was a big disappointment so wanted to pass on my experience with trying it on. I tried on several too just to be sure and they all fit the same, floppy way. Maybe if it went as low as say $20 I would consider it but not worth more than that IMO.

  16. who really needs a tshirt in the middle of the winter?! Not a great time to have this promo, imo.

  17. @ Genny: I love how great everyone is here! I would've never taken a look at the duffle coat if I didn't keep reading about how great it was! I'll probably grab it the next time J Crew has a good promo. :)

  18. I have to write a rave review for the Frances Heart Cami. It is so gorgeous and flattering on. The hearts are actually not black but look more gray or brownish gray. The cami looks great with pink cardigans and a variety of pink to redish shades will work with it. Its the perfect Valentines Day outfit as well and would look beautiful paired with jeans or slim pants. I love love love it!

  19. I want that snowflake tee so badly, but not enough to put $120 in ride-alongs in the cart to get free shipping. Urgh. And I bet it will sell out soon anyway.

  20. I am so glad I returned my vintage tiered cami for the duffle coat. I would definitely wear the coat more than the cami. So glad I read the comments on the coat. This blog is great for suggestions and comments.

I received Glimmer tights ($26.50 item 20856) in black and dark grey.
They are terrible. they don't seem to have any stretch and so loose around the ankles. After trying one leg in for 10 seconds, that leg is the same stretched out shape. $7 Target Merona tights have much better fit.
I remember someone saying nice things about wool tights...

  24. Oh and I ordered Crewcuts boys sweaters. I sometimes borrow from my daughter, who wears crewcuts 10-12. I wanted to try how they fit since they have thick wool sweaters like J Crew mens.
I'm 5'3" and sz 2 in tops, 0 bottom. Boys' 12 fits perfect. shoulders and armholes are not tight as girls' 12. But the cut of the v neck sweater is not I wanted. It's the opposite of women's..tapered bottom with wider waist, you know what I mean?
But the fleece slub hoodie fits perfect, and the color scholastic green is very pretty. I love the marled wool henley. Very thick and warm.

  25. silver lining it does work, thank you!

  26. I have to give props to the duffle coat as well.
I bought it in the olive color which is very pretty. It's very warm and in my opinion, a heavy coat.

I have the Lille heavy wool piqué coat in a size 10 and I got the duffle coat in a size 10 also. They both fit but the duffle coat is more fitted. The duffle coat is warmer and heavier than the lille coat from last year.

Good features of the duffle coat:
flatter shape, flares just a bit at the bottom but fitted in the body.
Can still fit a sweater underneath.
    removable hood.
    deep pockets
metal chain to hang the coat (so it doesn't tear out the tag)
    zipper AND buttons!

I love it, I'd recommend it to everyone.

  27. Din Din-

I absolutely agree with you on the duffle coat. Such a nice J. Crew piece for sure. My co worker complimented me on it. She said it is so hard to find coats with removable hoods. My last back coat from JC was purchased over 9 years ago. It was time to buy another black one. The more I wear it, the more I love it.
