20% Off J.Crew's Sweaters (2 days only)

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Heidi, Sandra & Cass (in this post), as well as Ji (in this post) & Marietta, who let us know the following.

J.Crew is offering 30% off select Sweaters for Women (click here to shop online). This offer expires tomorrow, Thursday, 12/17/09.

Also, J.Crew updated its Sale section (click here) early this morning with new items added and additional markdowns. As expected, the sale stock is moving very quickly. :)

Will you be taking advantage of this promotion? Are there any Sweaters you are interested in getting? If so, please share! :)

  1. I do like the look of the wool lodge cardigan, but won't be taking advantage of this promo.

I just had to tell you all about what I received yesterday - I got the cotton tuxedo shirt on a popback, and attached to the interior tag on the inside bottom (with the washing instructions/style number) was a safety pin with multiple "remove before washing/wearing" security tags, and a black "Collection" tag with extra sequins from a "Marci sequined cardigan". Hmmmmmm! It was so WEIRD - and sounds like somebody made off with a bunch. Geez!

  2. I also did not take advantage of the promo. there are some temptations however, I almost ordered the lex tote I have been coveting, even on sale I cannot justify spending so much money on myself so close to Christmas.

  3. To me, 20% off is a weak offer this close to xmas with what others retailers are offering, mostly doesn't even cover shipping. My gift list is still too long!

I received my small Georgie satchel in pale gold yesterday. After quite a few defective ill-fitting JC items that had to go back, I am thrilled with it. The leather is lovely, it is the perfect shade of pale gold, it's roomy and has lots of pockets. I think it will be a "Spring" bag, but it is definitely worth the sale price.

  4. I didn't use the sweater promo but did take advantage of the BELLS code to order a few items with I've been wanting to try that just got reduced. Hopefully they'll work out. :)

OT: Does anyone have a new Lands End or CANVAS promo? I have a code for Free Shipping but would love to find one for 25% off and free ship like they had a few days ago. TIA! :)

  5. FFM, I second that request. I would love to try some Canvas pieces!

  6. @Silver_lining --> I have the tuxedo shirt too (got it on popback!) and I L-O-V-E it...possibly my favorite shirt ever :)

  7. WARNING to all J Crew credit card holders....I just received a letter from World Financial Network National Bank (J Crew CC holder) about and update to their terms.

    ** the newest term...
$1.00 processing fee for each paper statement you receive. Just wanted to make sure all other JC card holders were aware of this new fee as I almost threw my letter out, thinking it was junk mail.

  8. On Morning Joe they said this is the week retailers are expected to mark down clothes for the last pre-Christmas sales push...

Re: Lands end, wish I had another code, too; as it is, I'm expecting two orders from them this week thanks to the 25% off & FS. Really liking their cashmere - pretty colors, and they're also not as boxy as j.crew's offerings. I think sweaters have become j.crew's weakest offering because of the immense decline in quality, so I hardly even look at them anymore - my dream & cashmere j.crew sweaters would be rejected by thrift stores, they've held up that badly. I see it in stores, too - new sweaters looking ragged just from being touched by customers.

    V. happy with my perfect pencil skirt, though. Wish j.crew would have more tweed and more boucle skirts & jackets.

  9. Thanks, janell. I guess I'll have to call and switch to electronic statements. It's too bad they charge $10 to pay over the phone, though.

    ReplyDelete
  10. janell: I just received one of those notices for my Victoria's Secret card (J Crew and VS credit cards are managed by the same company). I usually throw those notices away too, but happened to read it this time. It doesn't seem right that the company is doing this, IMO.

  11. La Belle Helene: Did you size down on the Perfect Pencil skirt? I'm hearing that they're running big. I want the skirt in the plum color SO BAD!!!

    ReplyDelete
  12. silver_lining: that is so weird with the tags... makes you wonder about quality control.

I will not be taking advantage of 20% sweaters promo. I did order with the Bells promo to order some items that were further marked down.

  13. Big ew to WFNNB. Some phone companies have been doing this for awhile now, too, which caused great distress to my very old, very cheap, and very technophobic grandmother.

I won't be using this promo. I was a bit tempted by the lower price tag on the Maya sweater, but then I snapped back to reality. Even thirty bucks is too much for anything that I know will snag after one or two wears and makes my boobs look so low.

Oh, I got the stone bead ribbon necklace in glazed pecan yesterday and it is TDF!!! It is quite heavy, but the swirly rich brown and yellow look amazing. If I'd known I was going to like this so much, I probably would have ordered a couple for presents, too.

    ReplyDelete
  14. AppGal - yes, I did size down one, in petites. I have the plum color and it is just lovely. Definitely get it :-)

  15. This question is off subject - on the JC website, when you click on "The Very Best Gift Guide" there is a pearl cluster ring that shows up on the left-hand side of the screen. Anyone know where JC might be selling this ring? Is it just in their B&Ms? It certainly isn't on their website.

  16. Very weak offer. I have a 40% coupon for BR (tomorrow only) and will be spending $ on myself there instead. Not to mention the other 25%-40% off regular prices at most other retailers this season. Boo J Crew!

  17. Last week, like some other posters, I decided to reorder an item (that I had ordered four days earlier) when I noticed it was cheaper following the next promotion. (Cashmere t-neck, in Sm.) When I got the order yesterday, I'd received a medium in the sweater instead of the small that I'd had in my cart at checkout. Did someone at Jcrew wise up to my attempt to earn back about $30 by returning the pre-sale sweater? Did anyone else have anything similar occur in trying to reorder stuff that way? Perhaps I'm just losing my mind...

  19. I've got a question. I recently came upon a couple of Jackie's that are 100% cotton and have white labels (the ones in the store have black labels). Could these be from the outlet store?

    ReplyDelete
  20. himmiefan: do the tags have two diamonds underneath the words "jcrew"? all specifically outlet-made items have that distinction on the labels.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Margaret-

Same thing happened to me! But I got the wrong color instead of the wrong size. I reordered again, we'll see if it actually comes out correctly this time. If you paid for shipping, call them and they should refund it. It is such a pain, but the item I reordered is $70 cheaper now...so it is probably worth it. I didn't think it was a sneaky attempt by JC to sabotage my plan though...they have so many other issues, hopefully they would spend their energy on that (like thefts from the warehouse apparantly!)

  22. All the rave review of Land's End cashmere sent me to their web site. Although they don't have the great styles or colors, I do like a few things I see there. Do you size down when ordering a Land's End sweater?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Is this 20% off plus free shipping promo kind of shady? It doesn't say in the fine print that sale items are excluded but there's no promo code to enter and my sale items show no discount. The fine print does say "prices as marked", so apparently only the full-priced sweaters have been discounted 20%. Forget it then, the only sweaters I want are in the sale section.

  25. crewcrazy,
I always size down in LE.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Elizabeth - I think that ring sold out. I remember seeing on the website a while ago. Some stores still have it in rose gold. HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  27. i would size down for lands end. i am a medium in j. crew and their small fits me very well.

    ReplyDelete
  28. This is an off-topic question:

I ordered an item through pre-sale because I believed it was nearly sold out in my size/color (the item was yanked offline a month or so ago). It was catalog/online only, so I didn't want to lose what I thought was my one chance to purchase it (even if it was still a little too expensive).

It's popped back up online today, and there are a lot available in my size. I can definitely wait for the item to get cheaper (or wait to buy it alongside more items, so I can use a coupon code).

If I returned it in-store, between transportation and shipping, I'm still out about $20. For those who've refused packages from J. Crew, were you still charged for the initial shipping?

    ReplyDelete
  29. If you search for "stardust", there's a stardust pencil skirt in copper in size 0 available, $118. I have this in both colors and love it. I'm between sizes and am trying to re-buy the silver in my smaller size, since it runs a little big.

  30. himmiefan,

My Jackies from retail store are not 100% cotton. They are 66% cotton 29% Nylon 5% Spandex(FA09) so they have great form fitting/bouncy-ness and smoother texture. Jackies from outlet store are 100% cotton and little less smooth. And as APPGal said they have two diamonds under J crew on the label.

    Margaret

I've received completely wrong items a few times, wrong sizes too. One time I ordered a puffer for my daughter and received a tee shirt dress. Call the CS, they will refund your money.

    ReplyDelete
  31. AppGal and Ji - thanks. That explains things. I'll look at the labels to see if they have the diamonds, but I do know that they're all cotton. That makes me a bit hesitant to get them because I think they really need a touch of nylon and spandex to hold their shape.

  32. Evening

I just received my Madewell Lace Up Ankle Booties - I'm in love.

The heel gives me lots of height, yet is large enough not to leave me feeling wobbly. The tread gripes the floor nicely, while adding a "rocker chick" look (a good thing!). And leather - slighty, ever so slightly nubby and soft, and best off all (drumroll) leather sock!

If this is a true measure of the quality of Madewell, I dearly hope they come online soon. Sadly, Madewell themselves won't ship outside the US.

  33. why are these coupons always for Women only? where are the men discounts?!

  34. Has anyone seen the Merino Microsequin Cardigan IRL? Looks cute on the website, both colors look nice, and it's reduced a lot now.

    Thanks!

  35. Not buying any 20% off sweaters. That is definitely not enough incentive for me.

    B&M sale update:
    wool ribbon ravine dress $69.99
    scalinata henleys $39.99
    antler tissue t 14.99
    wide diagonal stripe scarves 9.99
    pony brown flat nottinghams 149.99
wool twill studio trousers 49.99 AST and COP
    citi beaded neckline cardis 29.99
    leopard wool pencil 99.99
leopard cardi not sure, but on sale
I think that's it for new markdowns...

At the crewlet, the toothpicks were in clearance and came to 5.98 after additional 40% off
matchsticks and bootcuts were $19.99 or $24.99
Also: wool blend (with acrylic) henley sweaters like the current cashmere henley were 50% off so $30. They had ivory, navy, camel, teal and magenta.
all graphic/embellished Ts were 50% off-several retail copies and some new cuties
    jewelry 40%
sale section had TONS of jackets - a few outlet bellas for $56 after the additional 40%
    solid color jackies $19.99
I think all the sweaters were on one or another promo
    All wool coats $69.99
    Victoria tissue cami $32.50
a little resort roll out - giraffe and that pink floral print from last year. Both came in a mini ($30 after promo). And camis for both, but different styles. Camis were on promo - got an adorable polka dot Victoria. Also lattice print cami and scarves with metallic threads through them in all the new spring prints (unfortunately NOT on promo!)

Crewlet visit was worth it to me :)

  36. Thanks, mommydearest. It's really a shame the wool twill pants pill so quickly because they're very pretty. I'm excited that the wool ribbon ravine dress would be marked down again. Wish the leopard print skirt would also go down again, but as on-line is pretty much sold-out, it's probably not going to happen.

    ReplyDelete
  37. mommydearest: Thank you so much for the update! I've been waiting for the leopard cardi and the city beaded neckline cardi to go on sale. Will have to stop by the B&M on my way home tonight. Planning to go to the crewlet this weekend. Hope the sale is still going on when I get there. Thanks again, really made my afternoon!

  38. WOW-I had no idea about the Land's End "canvas" line. I thought you all were referring to the bags and I was wondering what the excitement was:) Now I see..it is very reminiscent of J Crew and yes, one of yesteryear;) Right down to their models/editorials/styling and certainly the clothing themselves. It will be interesting to hear what those who are buying think. I still see "tailoring" issues with LE as they have boxy jackets and sweaters but if they change that..they might have the J Crew "of old" fans, at a different door.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Thanks, mommydearest! I had typed up a similar post but Blogger ate it so I didn't want to try to retype.

    At my B&M:
    All boyfriend chinos $9.99
    Herringbone field pants $9.99
    Grey favorite-fit chinos $19.99

The SA's said that they tend to transfer non-selling items to other stores. Hence the shopwornness of some of the sweaters and raw-edged stuff.

I did see one of the first Spring pieces (I think) - it is a black cotton coat, Peter Pan collar, button front. Long sleeves, 3/4 A-line body length, with a small ruffle around the waist with a tie. The tie looked thinner than a ribbon - more like a cord. 100% cotton and lined, it wasn't soft, but more 'canvas-y'. I didn't get the item #, but it was $178. Probably their take on a spring trench/jacket.

    ReplyDelete
  40. sweetsy: LE has started to change the box issues, their new Fit 1 is more fitted and the quality is top notch no worries in that department. I have not tried their Canvas line yet, but I plan to.

When I was in ON I noticed their Resort line looks very JC like, the quality on their V-neck cotton sweater is identical to the JC Resort one from last year, for a lot less money.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Everyone, you are so welcome! JCA has helped (enabled) me so much, just trying to give back :)

Wow, even in retail time it seems early for resort but I am not complaining because I LOVE RESORT!!! Probably because it is usually nautical and I am a sucker for the nautical look... Thanks casual-crew, ON is now on my must-look-soon list :)

    ReplyDelete
  42. mommydearest thanks for the update. I ordered the ravine dress today online for $120. I can't believe it is $50 less at the B&M! I'll have to check the store, though the problem is I do need petites.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Has anyone noticed that the merino ethereal cardigan is now only 20% off? Last week it was 29.99. The only difference is the heather silver is now called heather dusk. I ordered it in the heather silver this morning, but it was cancelled this morning....grrr

    ReplyDelete
  44. Follow up to my previous comment. The difference between the two sweaters is one is the older version is a v-neck, but this one is a crew neck, only the picture shows the vneck!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Costa Mesa B&M had 2 size 2 leopard skirts today for $99 and a TON of leopard dresses for $129.

I also saw a size 0 black wool ravine dress on sale - I think someone was looking for one earlier.

    ReplyDelete
  46. silver lining - I tried on the new black coat this past weekend and LOVED it! If it was a winter coat, I would have walked out with it. It is super cute on. I'm hoping it will go on promo so I can get it, since I can probably get some use out of it here in SC. My PS said it was marked holiday, but that he thought it was suppose to be resort.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Rosie, I wonder whether they would adjust the price in-store? It takes a lot of time, effort and JCAs to stay on top of JCrew's pricing discrepanceies.

On the topic of Alexis' post, the real question for me is what the next offer will be on Friday! :D

    ReplyDelete
  48. I'm thinking of getting another ethereal ruffle cardi in the heather dusk, it fits great.

QUESTION for y'all: Has anybody tried the Frances stripe ruffle blouse (http://www.jcrew.com/AST/Browse/WomenBrowse/Women_Shop_By_Category/shirtstops/camisblouses/PRDOVR~17669/99101804407/ENE~1+2+3+22+4294967294+20~~~20+17+4294967177~90~~~~~~~/17669.jsp) Is it really fitted? I usually wear a 2 but I might try to get the petite size so it's shorter. Should I order 2P or 4P? Pls Help!!

    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  49. I drank the Crewlade! I'm just a sucker for free shipping, I guess. I picked up the Nonno cardi in muslin, the Keaton tux cardi, a pair of tailored chinos in sandstone, and a cotton cashmere half-zip sweater in grey heather for the hubs. Here's hoping they all ship!

I also ordered the stadium cloth boulevard trench in black last week. Great purchase! It's an absolutely gorgeous coat, TTS and toasty warm.

Unfortunately for my bank account, I've also got my eye on the Griffin coat in sweet papaya. Can anyone comment on the fit? I can't decide whether it will flatter my shape, or just make me look big.

Totally OT - Canvas might be my new favorite line. The styling and quality are both top-notch. I'm actually wearing the striped poorboy turtleneck right now, and I've been living in the boyfriend chinos. FWIW, I've definitely had to size down - I'm usually a 6 in J. Crew but a 4 in LE/Canvas.

    ReplyDelete
  50. mommydearest, that's a good idea. I'm going to have to go to the B&M anyway (I bought 2 petite sizes to be safe because I didn't know if it would fit TTS). Thanks!

I also noticed that there was another markdown online for the deco skirt. It's $29.99! I'm obsessively checking for a pop-back...

    ReplyDelete
  51. flixchatter-
i have the black frances- not the striped but if the fit is the same- I'd say it is tts, tailored but not tight and if regular shirts are too long for you, go with petite! hth

  52. Emily-

I just received the mint tweed Griffin coat. I was more excited about this piece that any other this season, but I have to return it because of the fit.

I am 5'9" and always wear a size 4 in J.Crew jackets and coats. The shoulders fit just fine. Straight across the chest was more fitted. There is almost no shape to the waist-it's more of a loose/swing style. The killer was that the arms were 2" too short on me. Looking at the model wearing the coat, I think you can see sort of the same thing-the sleeves only hit her high wrist. Due to the way the sleeves are sewn, I'm not sure a tailor could lengthen them. The fabric isn't folded under, the seam is right there at the bottom edge of the sleeve.

The mint tweed fabric, however, is absolutely gorgeous. The color and the marble faux-horn buttons could not be more beautiful.

On a side note, I was disappointed with the way this item was packaged. The coate was quite rumpled when I received it. It was just folded in half over a piece of cardboard. There was no hanger or anything else to differentiate it as a collection piece.

    Hope this helps.

  53. I've been admiring the mohair sweaters, but they seem to have been removed from the web site during this promo. Darn!

  55. on the fence about buying right now. will the post x-mas sales be better? will they have my size? not sure, not sure....main concern is the inventory issue. i want the cashmere v neck cardigan, but am finding it hard to part with the $134 to get it.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Daisy, I was in the 45th & Madison store in NYC yesterday and they had a HUGE selection of mohairs in the sale section in various sizes and colors. Not sure of the price point because I, sadly, bought mine earlier in the season, but you may want to call and ask. HTH!

  57. Dara- Did the Jcrew have a good selection of sale items?

  58. Hi Tracey, just went to the Madison Ave store @ 45th St... the sale section is pretty much picked over but there are some good sale there... the annalise cami is $19.99!

    ReplyDelete
  59. HeidiG: Thank you for the code! Unfortunately according to LE customer service, it only applies to regular LE merchandise and not the Canvas line. I did find that is still gives you free shipping for Canvas, just not the extra 25% off though. :)
