Sneak Peek into J.Crew's Fall 2008 Collection

Summer has barely started and already there is talk of the Fall Collection!

For example, I stopped by a J.Crew store this Wednesday and over heard one of the floor associates tell a customer that they are not planning to receive anymore Summer items as the next "shipment of clothes" is expected to be for their Fall collection.

Although most of you are probably not thinking about the Fall anytime soon, you may be curious to see what is going to come to your stores. :)

"Thanks!" to ccbmum who let us know, in the "Buy & Review: What did you get during the Sale?" post, about Glam Chic's Sneak Peek into J.Crew's Fall 2008 Collection. Here you will find several pictures with items from J.Crew's upcoming Men's and Women's lines.

I was also able to find FabSugar's Sneak Peek into J.Crew's Fall 2008 Collection. And in case you are interested, here is FabSugar's Sneak Peek into Madewell's Fall 2008 Collection. Both of these links show a few pictures of models wearing some of the pieces being offered in the Women's Fall Collection.

Are there any items that you like/ dislike so far? Are you excited about the Fall 2008 Collection (or planning to think about the Fall Collection when it is closer to Fall)?

  1. I am looking forward to the Fall Collection with great anticipation. I am hoping that Madewell will be online for their fall collection.

  2. I like the skirt. I may try to make my own version (I also want to make the new Belle skirt).

The brown dress is too Partridge Family for my liking. I do like mod/retro things, but this one is a little over the top (pretty much the same sentiment I have on the optic jacket).

  3. I am excited for the fall collection. I feel like I buy all my summer stuff at the beginning of the season and by mid summer am ready to see the fall stuff!

  4. I just commented to ccbmum on that previous post with the link she gave that I LOVE that coat with the bow...in fact, I would wear the entire outfit if the skirt were longer. :)

  5. Anonymous at 8:30 PM & PINK1: I am looking forward to seeing the rest of the line as well! :)

Heather: I agree about the mod dress being too mod for me. :)

FabulousFloridaMommy: I really like the coat with the bow too! Anytime J.Crew adds a bow or ruffles, I end up loving the item! :)

  7. I was just googling "J Crew Fall preview" today in search of getting a peek at something---pretty funny! Nothing looks "Fall'ish" enough for me to get really excited though. I love Fall shopping.... Sweaters, layers, boots.

On a side note (since it IS still 80 degress here lol) I've now decided that I need to have the Kate dress.... sure, now that it's $20 and sold out. So now, I can obsess over how I missed out on it, and should have got it when I had the chance, and call every morning to see if there have been any returns.... I *know* you've been there right? :) I've searched the blog and couldn't find much talk about the Kate dress... could anyone tell me, is it super short? (I'm 5'6") and does it run really big? I'm usually a small-- I was a small in the ruffled pique dress. Any insight would be great---AND, if you received your Kate dress and are planning on sending it back, please consider selling it to me instead :)

  8. OMG--- Love the fall collection and cannot wait to see the rest.... Thanks Alexis and those who provided the links!

  9. I like the skirt in the picture with the yellow jacket...Can't wait to see all the rest. I LOVED Fall '07 (it set me back $$$, haha) - I don't know if J.Crew will be able to entice me so much again. Part of it, I have to admit, was the location of the catalogues - September in Paris,
November in the Isle of Skye...

  10. Hi all,
I see that some people mentioned the educator discount at Jcrew. Can someone tell me what that is about? Thanks so much! Alexis, love your website!

    ReplyDelete
  11. Hi Anonymous at 9:37PM: The educator's discount is for 15% off any order at J.Crew stores or over the red phone. (However, you cannot use the discount online.) Also, it can be used in addition to those "additional percent off" sales. All you need is some form of an educator's ID or paycheck stub.

  12. Anonymous at 8:59 PM: Thanks for the nice comment! :)

Josie: I completely know what you are talking about- the regret of not purchasing something while you had the chance. But I really do believe that the Kate dress (in the older colors) will be in the sale section again. :)

Nicole R. & La Belle Helene: The fall collection sneak peak looks nice so far. I can't wait to see the rest too! ;)

  13. I wasn't able to get the whole article (because I don't subscriber to WWD,) but I was able to get the following from their Color Therapy article:

"For fall, J. Crew creative director Jenna Lyons looked to an artist's muse for inspiration, which translated into pieces such as bright frothy jackets with Liberty-print ruffles that had a homespun feel, as well as painterly graphic Ts. Lyons had fun with off-beat color combinations and prints in an eclectic mix that stayed true to the label's timeless ease. She also presented terrific hand-beaded jackets and dresses as part of the J. Crew Collection, the company's high-end line. The limited edition pieces have proven successful on the store's Web site..."

  14. Does it say anywhere if they went somewhere on location for fall? I've really enjoyed those catalogues, like going to Morocco for the summer collection. Just adds something to the allure, in my opinion.

  15. Hi all! I'm very guilty of being quite the lurker 'round this blog -- So despite checking it at least once a day, this is only my first comment.

I wanted to share a link to what looks like a mini Fall "Look Book" on the J.Crew site. I'm not 100% sure that someone hasn't posted this link yet... Who knows, maybe Alexis posted it herself. I wasn't even sure these were for Fall 2008... and I'll be a pretty deep shade of red if they are from seasons past, and are simply archived on the site.

    Anyway, linky:
    Here

  16. DH- I think that's an old link from a couple years ago. I recognize the barn shots...

    ReplyDelete
  17. Thanks for the link. It was fun to look at old pictures from Fall of 2007-In the 6th picture I have that tortise chain link belt in every color that it came out in...

    ReplyDelete
  18. Actually, correction on my part...I think that is Fall 2006.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Yes the link is to 2006. You can tell the year of the item by right clicking on it & reading the URL. This one is "FA06" plus I've had it bookmarked for a while too ;)

  20. DH, Audrey, Anon 5:01AM and Rach: Thanks for the link DH! (And thanks to the others that let us know it was the 2006 collection.) I actually own the Houndstooth jacket! :) It is great to see the styles then- which I would wear today in a heart beat!

  22. the green gloves look super cute. But does anyone else thing a trench coach with a bow collar looks a bit retarded?

I like everyone else here apparently love fall shopping. But this preview looks like a lot of duds. :(

  23. Joise,

I have the Kate dress in both colors. And I like them very much. I am alway size 8 on jacket and size 2 on bottom. I am 5'3'' with small size chest but wide shoulder. I ordered size M on my Kate dress. And it fits me very well. the fiber is thick and fine and cool feeling. It sits just above my knees. Another reason I like this dress is it is so simple. Actually, I ordered another one this Wed. I am sure you will see it again. Hope this is helpful. And good luck.

  24. blumre,
Once again we agree (see bag post from earlier today) I think the bow is terrible (and I do like bows but not in this case/placement)!

  25. Annon: you obviously have excellent taste!

Alexis: I have to say I normally agree with you too. Its nice to read a blog by someone who has a discerning eye.

  26. I love that coat, I just hope they make it in other colours than Yellow. What is with all the Yellow and Orange lately? does not help a blonde girl out! And I love the embellished cardis.

  27. Josie: I have the Kate dress in both the flame and the blue- LOVE it and so does my husband when I wear it. Yes it's short. But oh so comfy. I am
5'5" and have short legs, so it might be a little too short for you. I wear the blue one with my jeweled capri sandals in posy. It's a great little dress to just throw on when it's too stinkin hot and humid to put on anything else. Hope this helps!

  28. THIS MESSAGE HAS BEEN APPROVED BY ALEXIS. :)

I know there has been alot of talk about listing J.Crew items we are interested in selling, and I have several that I no longer have use for, but don't want to "bog" down Alexis' site with the details. If you are interested in seeing them, please click Here ...I have set up a blog called FFMsList where I have posted them. You can email me if you are interested. :) I will try to post pics today, or I can email you pics of the item/items you are interested in. :)

    ReplyDelete
  29. FYI...I made a couple of edits to the FFMsList, so you may want to re-visit (if you have already), and I will try to add pics later, too! :)

Ironically, my husband will be doing "maintenance" on my computer a little later today, too (needs a new hard drive), but I will be back on and checking emails, blogs, and of course JCrew.com as soon as it is up and running again...hopefully sooner than later. :) (I HATE being without a computer!)

  30. Regarding the Kate dress -- it runs huge! I am a size 6 and I ordered it medium and it was swimming on me. Then I ordered it in a size small, and it was fine width wise, but too short. I am 5'7" and 123 pounds, so I have problems sometimes as length wise I am a medium but width wise a small. Anyway -- I returned both of them weeks ago, luckily before they were final sale.

  31. Does anyone know whether the velvet Bella jacket of last year was a fall or a winter item? I am dying for it to come back out, but the new JCrew fall catalogue boasts the new "it jacket" for the season. :-( I am holding out hope that the short bella jacket will come back...
