Free shipping (if you can checkout!)

{Yey!} to J.Crew for putting up a notice on their home page (of their website) explaining a bit about what's going on. (Although, you probably already knew that the site was running slow.) ;) I am also impressed that they are offering free shipping with the code FREESHIP. Not sure how long the offer will last (or if you can checkout at all), but the sentiment is nice. :)

  1. Alexis, I must say-- you are so on the ball--- how do you keep up with it all??? :)

  2. Thanks Nicole for the nice comment! (It just happens that today I am on the computer quite a bit.) :-)

  3. "If you can checkout" is right! Everytime I try to put something in my cart, that darned "$null" magically appears again! Sigh.

But you're right, Alexis, the sentiment's nice.

  4. Thanks for the update:) I did email them first thing yesterday about offering this to us b/c of the slowness, problems, etc. I'm still not going to buy anything.......even if I could check out!

  5. I had a wailisted order that would not show up on the website. i called and turns out it was lost, and luckily for me, the item was actually available. I got the price I had originally been quoted at the beginning of June and free shipping. Now it's showing up on the site. they had lost all of my info too- cc info, address, name, etc. very annoying! The CS rep I got was very accomodating. What a mess for them!!-BGD

  6. I am now thinking about the liana jacket. Anyone have it and like it?

    ReplyDelete
  7. Good to see this. At first I was excited to see many good deals showing up, but after clicking into each one of them (for about 20 items), I see that none is actually available :(

  8. I placed a phone order last week that was supposed to go on a gift card. They charged it to my credit card instead. I sent an email to CS and I'm still waiting to hear back from them.

  9. Eddie & Stretch's Momma: Sorry to hear you are still getting that annoying null message. :(

Anonymous at 3:18PM: First thanks for sending them an email. Second, I am not buying anything online either. :)

Anonymous at 3:18PM/BGD: I am sorry to hear that your order got lost too. At least the item was available in your size/color- that is good news! :)

FabulousFloridaMommy: I agree! It's just too bad customers can't checkout online and take advantage of the free shipping. ;)

  10. Yeah, I think I'm signing off of the J.Crew website for today. It's just too frustrating. If I really get the itch, I'll just drop by the J.Crew store on my way home (I'm lucky that I have two J.Crew stores nearby, although one of them is undergoing renovation - I think, to include a Madewell).

    ReplyDelete
  11. Alexis: could be another reason why they have it posted...they know that noone will actually be able to check out to get the Free Shipping anyways...hmmm...

    ReplyDelete
  12. I found this regarding returns (on returnable merchandise of course)posted on their new site:
after 60 days of original purchase:
J.Crew will gladly make an exchange or issue a merchandise credit for the price at the time of sale (with original receipt) or for the current selling price (without original receipt). Is this new? I thought that 60 days was the cut off date for returns and exchanges. Maybe I was mistaken all this time...

    ReplyDelete
  13. Hahaha, FFM! I was actually thinking the same thing but was afraid to say(type) it out loud since I did say it was a nice sentiment (which it still is!). ;)

    ReplyDelete
  14. Anon @ 3:38pm: I just returned a Laurel Ruffle Blouse the week before last...it still had the tags but I couldn't find my receipt, so I was given credit for the current price (which was $78)...it had been over 60 days...I think they have always done this. I seem to remember someone else posting about returning an item with the tags or a receipt after the 60 days, and getting a credit, as well.

eddie & stretch's momma: TOO FUNNY...it really IS a nice sentiment, but they do HAVE to realize that alot of people are NOT going to wait forever on the phone or online to place an order with them, but maybe this FREESHIP coupon will last for awhile at least. :)

    ReplyDelete
  15. Ok...they REALLY need to remove ALL of the items that are NULL, which seems to be a MULTITUDE at this point...give me a break...how long can you possibly wait for a page to load just to find out it isn't really available...that is REALLY messed up!

    ReplyDelete
  16. How can they expect anyone to shop online when their website is so slow?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Webbysuzy, I just had to guffaw (yes, guffaw) when I saw your comment. I mean, really...and FFM, that was what I kept on getting too...but I can't keep myself away from the site!!

  18. The weirdest thing just happened...I called to place the order for the liana jacket. She confirmed that it was $29.99. Then she applied free shipping. My total was somehow $24.26?! I didn't ask why. She just confirmed several times that it was $24.26. Yay!!

  19. tired memphian: sounds like she gave you an addt'l. 25% off...congrats!!!!

  20. Can I return a final sale item by telling them I lost my receipt, and get a store credit instead? It fits into their return policy (returns without receipts).

    ReplyDelete
  21. Anon @ 4:05, I've done that before, and they should honor your return by giving you store credit. =)

    ReplyDelete
  22. Eddie & Stretch's Momma:

Whoa, thanks...how do they know it's not past 60 days? I ordered the shoes online last week and they arrived today. I just hope the price doesn't drop until I return it. Do you think it's better to return and get a store credit or sell it on ebay for the same price I got them?

    ReplyDelete
  23. I'll tell you this, when you do return to the store and the price has dropped, they might insist that they give you store credit for the price that it's listed as of the moment. I have read of experiences with sales associates that have been nice enough to give you full price for it.

If you're thinking of selling on Ebay, keep in mind the popularity of the item and also the amount of time/fees that may apply when you do decide to go that route.

    Good luck! =)

  24. I bought the tie-neck blouson sweater and just received it. Now, it's called the tie-neck blouson SWEATER, right? And tell me, it looks sort of like a sweater in the picture, right? Well, it is completely and utterly see-through. Like not translucent or sheer, but SEE-THROUGH. I got it in the final sale, but is there ANY way they will take it back?? I mean it's completely not wearable, and that is NOT represented in their image. Has anyone had this experience before?

    ReplyDelete
  25. fyi: i was (slowly) navigating the sale pages and came across something i had wanted for some time, getting it to the shopping cart was a hassle, so i called the 800 number, it only took about 4/5 minutes for a csr to come on the line. not too bad!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Eddie & Stretch's Momma:

Thanks for your advice. It's a pair of shoes, and the box has a sticker that says final sale. If I can't peel off the sticker properly, and return the shoes without a box, they won't accept it right?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Wait, what happened to boycotting??? Such sacrilege!!! I'm kidding. KIDDING! :D

I'd totally order something right now except I don't really need anything. I did order the mini-seersucker shift dress (item 93670 and love it! It actually fits pretty well and looks good for someone who wears petite (the size 2 is a little loose around some areas, so I think a 0 might work better). The only thing is the $135.00 is way too much for a cotton dress and I can't justify keeping it. So I'm returning it and waiting for it to go on sale. Which I hope is soon since I'm moving to Japan in a few weeks!

Oh, and this is totally OT, but today was my last day at work. HURRAY!!!! :D So now I'll be free for the next few weeks to check up on this blog more often. Double Yay!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Oh, stink. I totally screwed up the dress link. It's item 93670.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I sort of posted in a panic before, and I'm now seeing this stuff about returning without a receipt for store credit. I might try that. Actually, there were a few things that came that I am not satisfied with. I know that's the danger of the final sale, but I figure it's worth a shot. Does anyone think I could get away with that with more than one item?

    ReplyDelete
  30. I also received the Portico Warp Dress in tidepool, which looks like a soft aqua in the picture, but is actually more of a true bright aqua. What gives?!? I am pretty new to J.Crew ... does this happen a lot with ordering their things online?

    ReplyDelete
  31. When I posted my question regarding the 60 day policy I thought of full price items. I have a yellow joelle cami that I should have bought in size 2 instead of 4 and never returned it - now I know I am not going to wear it and would be happy to get the store credit for a full price I paid. Your tips however got me thinking - if you got an item at 25 percent off and later got the store credit when that item was not on extra sale anymore you could actually make "money" :) Anon @ 3:38

    ReplyDelete
  32. I have returned items from the final sale before. I just enclose a polite note with a valid reason as to why they are not to my satisfaction and they send me a gift card. I have never had a problem doing this (and I haven't done it much) but they are always VERY accomodating.

    jcrewjunkie

    ReplyDelete
  33. jcrewjunkie:

What sort of reasons did you give? Do you think they'll accept it if I say that the shoes doesn't cover my potruding bony part at the side and that the strap made me look much shorter than my 5' 4"?

    ReplyDelete
  34. michelle: I think that trying to return more than one item without a receipt would be a little too much...you are better off to call Customer Service and explain that you bought the sweater Final Sale based on the picture, title, and description on the website, and that you did it in good faith that you were going to receive the item pictured. However, what you did receive was NOTHING like the website had shown or described...I'm sure they will be accomodating, especially with all the issues they are currently experiencing. While you have the rep on the phone...mention the other items you are not pleased with, and see if they will allow you to return for a refund or even just for store credit. If not, then I would just try to sell them on Ebay.

Anon @ 4:05pm...re: the Final Sale Shoes...you should also try giving Customer Service a call first...what is wrong with them? Too small? Too Large? Not as described? Buyer's remorse does not count as a reason, btw. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  35. anon @3:38 - Oh wow, I hadn't thought of that ;) That is very sound advice!

jcrewjunkie - I might try too! I would love a gift card ... I'm sure I could spend it immediately ;)

Thank you both so much! I am going to my J.Crew store this very evening to try and work this out.

    ReplyDelete
  36. By the way I would never do that but I think it should be a valid reason for J.Crew not to bump up the prices on old sale items. Anon @ 3:38

    ReplyDelete
  37. Anonymous: not sure if there is just one of you that keeps asking all about the returns and making more money by returning w/out a receipt, reasons to give, etc... but you are sounding suspiciously like a J.Crew employee fishing for info...why so MANY questions?

jcrewjunkie: this was not meant to you as anonymous...I know who you are. :)

    ReplyDelete
  38. I started that topic about my ugly shoes but no, I'm not the person talking about making money with final sale items. I'm not a jcrew employee :) They must be too busy sorting out the mess to come spy on us!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I've never come across a store that gives back full price on returned items without a receipt, unless they are able to use your credit card to look up the information about the sale. Otherwise, I guarantee you'll be getting the current elling price, promos included - which I think is totally fair.

    ReplyDelete
  40. make that current SELLING price :-)

  43. BTW...if an item is significantly not as described whether it be color, fit, etc...you should really just try giving CS a call...J.Crew Customer Service is excellent, and I'm sure they will work with you.

michelle: even though you are returning to a store, you need to call CS first in order to get a return authorization on the Final Sale items placed in the notes on your order.

  45. I am not making money of J.Crew and don't plan on it. Sorry if I came across this way. I just thought of all the prices going up and down recently and wanted to share my thoughts with you. I am honest J.Crew customer but some things do occur to me. I would just keep the extra 25 percent off forever :) Anon at 3:38

    ReplyDelete
  46. FYI....even if the price of an item goes back up later, when you do a return w/o a receipt they will give you the lowest price it has ever sold for, not just the current selling price. At least that's how it was at every retailer I've worked for, I would assume jcrew is the same.

    ReplyDelete
  47. And the site is down again...

    ReplyDelete
  48. Is anyone else irritated that now, for items, you can't just see a drop-down list of available sizes? You have to first select your size? I think it's a sneaky manuever on their part to keep us from seeing what's totally not selling -- and then waiting for the price to drop. Instead they want to keep us in the dark.

Or maybe I'm just overthinking things. Either way, this whole website issue is so horribly mismanaged; how could J.Crew have messed up so badly? I wonder who was heading up this whole website transition.

    ReplyDelete
  49. and back up. I can't believe how inept these IT people have been 3 days running.

    ReplyDelete
  50. that is fair in my opinion. Sorry for my comment about making money - again it was just a funny thought I had after reading some of the posts. I asked my initial question because I trully didn't know about their return policy and never returned anything past the 60 day period - I wasn't sure if it was new or I was just not aware of that. Anon @ 3:38

  52. Can we forget about the returs for a while and talk about J.Crew's great clothes? I do feel bad... Anon @3:38

    ReplyDelete
  53. Anon @ 3:38: DON'T FEEL BAD! That's not why we are here...it's to help each other out, and asking questions is a part of that. :)

There was just a really mean anonymous on here last night, plus J.Crew has had some of their employees watching us on this blog (also under "anonymous"), so it just struck me as odd to have an anonymous asking those type of questions...it will be great when you think of a name! :) You could just sign your anonymous like jcrewjunkie does, but maybe use your intitials or something until you think of a name? Just a thought. :)

    BTW...I am also 5'4"

    ReplyDelete
  54. I'm sorry I didn't mean to make you felel bad, just wanted to point that out in case anyone was thinking of trying it! :) no need to feel bad!!! It is a pretty silly policy for jcrew to play yo-yo with sale prices. Silly and frustrating.

  56. Hey fellow jcrew junkies...
I've been lurking for awhile now and wanted to join in on all the fun. I just got a jcrew package in the mail today full of goodies. I got the chino pants in Navy (81394), chino shorts 5" ( 88756) in Navy and Khaki, Solid Piper tank in Soft Fuchsia ( 94163), and Candace jacket (95351) in navy. And I have another package coming later on this week!!!
Oh btw, the site issues have really put a damper on shopping, but i need to give my CC a rest anyways!
    Happy shopping!

How do you like the Candace jacket. I'm still waiting for mine to arrive.

  59. Erin: I think I came across in the wrong way :) I am also fed up with their pricing tactics. Old items at higher prices are really annoying. Anon @3:38

  60. anon @ 6:30,

I received my Candace jacket today, and haven't taken it off since I unwrapped it! Sooo cute. I have it in sweet orange, an xs and fits very similar to the Katie jacket which I also own (in ivory/navy stripe). It seems a little more lightweight than the Katie, but I haven't unpacked it from my sweater bin to confirm. The sleeves are a true 3/4, whereas the Katie has bracelet sleeves. The collar fits close to me, it is not a deep scopneck or loose. I don't think you'd be able to wear a necklace unless the jacket were open and the necklace was underneath.

  61. Ok...the end of my last post was odd...had a "crisis" with my youngest and didn't realize I hadn't finished the end of my thought...

What I meant to say was I am also 5'4" and have to be particular about the style of shoe I buy...some can definitely make you look shorter if they cut off the leg line at an odd place...anyways, definitely call CS about returning them...Good Luck!

    ReplyDelete
  62. anon 5:15 - You said you have the joelle cami, but should have purchased it in a smaller size...
Do they run big? I just ordered one the other day from the final sale and now I am worried it will be too big : ( Most of my J Crew blazers are either a size 8 or 6 and I ordered the Joelle Cami in a 6. I hope it fits!
And for anyone considering the Printed Calf-hair Mirabelle clutch in Tawny...it is GORGEOUS in person. I just received mine in the mail yesterday : )
There are other things I would love to buy with the Free shipping offer, but like many of you, my patience has worn too thin! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  63. Jessica: I buy size 4 tops but had to go to size 2 in camis. I think all of them run big this season. I could still wear my joelle cami size 4 but not without a sweater - it just hangs too low under arms on me. Maybe if I were a C or D cup it would fit? I have bought size 2 in gray and it looks great. Size 6 may work for you though if you buy size 8 as well.

  64. Hi Everyone! After being upset on Saturday about J Crew not allowing Coupons on Sale Merchandise and then later finding out that they will honor these coupons, and then having spoken with them over the phone several times today, I have to say that I am no longer boycotting and that I am back shopping. In fact, from my experience alone today, J Crew has more than redeemed themselves and I am very impressed with their service yet again. Please allow me to tell you about my experience.

Seeing that the coupon was working on Sale Merchandise, I decided that I would purchase a couple of things. I was on hold for a CSR for approx. 10 minutes. One finally gets on the phone and as she's about to take my order, her system goes down. She apologizes profusely and asks me what exactly I wanted and that she would call me back. I gave her all of the info and waited for her call. In the meantime, I was on the computer and the system was down the entire time I waited for her to call me. Finally, when the online system came up again, the phone ran and she was there to take my order. Now that's customer service!

I purchased a number of items I really wanted for a long time including the Trellis City-Fit Capris, Liana Jacket, Liv Ballet Flats, and a few tanks. I used the code IJN-160 for free shipping but it didn't work. Nonetheless, she gave me free shipping. I was very grateful.

I then was transferred to a CSR to deal with a Final Sale issue I had. You see, I had purchased a Rugby Taffeta Skirt 3 weeks ago and it hadn't arrived. Fearing that it would be too small to sit really low on my waist, I called to find out if they had an 8. They did and the very lovely lady agreed to take back the size 6 skirt and give the 8 in exchange.

Later in the afternoon, after spending a few hours stressing if the size 8 will fit where I want it to, I decided to call back to see if they could add a 10 and make an exception for a return should the 8 fit. The CSR at J Crew again helped me out with this. She didn't give me attitude about the final sale, etc. She gladly shipped me the 10 with the note that I could return it.

I am thrilled with their service I received today. And while I'm not particularly thrilled about their site being down and all the problems they're having, I have to say that I'm glad things worked out the way they did.

I feel the need to share this positive experience with everyone here. Everything that's happened today truly restored my faith in J Crew and their customer service focus.

    KJ

  65. To Anon @ 6:30pm,
I really like the Candace Jacket, the picture doesn't really do it any justice. The jacket is really soft and it has that classic appeal. I am sure you will love it! It's pretty true to size, also.

  66. One thing that is a bummer with ALL of the new stuff on the website is they did not keep all of my credit card information so I had to reneter it all which was a huge pain in the butt - not sure if was worth the $15 I saved today on shipping!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Hi everyone! I have a question - while perusing through the sale section I have seen several items listed at sale prices (for example Kate dress item # 92157 listed at $19.99) but when I click on the item it does not list the sale price even for select colors. Same with the Tie Front Dress - it only lists the "non sale colors" Do you think if I call CS, they would honor the sale price?
Alexis - great blog! I never thought I would enjoy reading about JCrew so much!! :)

  68. jcrew may have slightly redeemed itself in my book:) even though i wont be purchasing, it's the thought that counts:)

  69. To Michelle:
I think that tie-neck sweater is lovely. Give it a try. I liked it so much, I bought it in 3 different colors. Yes, it's sheer, BUT.. I went to Zara and got 2 camis for $6.90 each, one in pink to wear under Capri pink, and one in beige to wear under others. After I put a cami on, the sweater looks exactly as pictured. BTW , I got my 1st one for $59 and others for $19 each, but do not regret spending that much ( I already wore it numerously, so could not return for lower price, and I got my 1st one quite some time ago). I wear the sweater with shorts, bermudas or jeans, with and without hip-slung belt. It's truly a versatile item and colors are so fresh.Don't give up yet. Try the cami, you might like it as much as I do.

  72. I just experienced great CS and had to share. So like I mentioned earlier , I ordered the 5" shorts last week when they were regular price. Skip to this week, they are on sale. So, instead of taking the merchandise back to the store for a price adjustment, I called CS and they did it over the phone w/o me having to truck to the store! The CSR was very helpful and understanding. YAY!!!

  73. kj and vanessa: congrats on the success with Customer Service...they really ARE terrific! :)

  74. Vanessa, coincidentally, I went to the website yesterday to order some 5" chino shorts but couldn't because the site is so slow! I didn't realize they were on sale though. When I finally got through to the website, it looks like they're selling for $39.50. Which 5" shorts did you end up getting and what is the sale price? Thanks!

  75. I received my order today from last Thursday (last day for the 25% off and before they upgraded their website). I managed to grab couple of Panama bags in botanical green for 11.25 each. I'm planning to give them as xmas gifts for my toddler's teachers at his nursery school. and I ordered the Printed Short Sleeve Slim Shirt for 14.99. I normally wear a size 2, but they were out of my size so I took a size 4. It still fits okay, more like an extra small, but if you want a nice, body hugging fit, go with your correct size. I bought another Copelle Paisley Alessia Blouse in a size 2 for 29.99, which will be a birthday gift for a friend.

I keep checking on the Sale section, hoping to find the Slub Cotton Enamel Paillette Tank in extra small size. I ordered one in a small and navy color and it's too big on me. Looks like the small can be a medium.

    ReplyDelete
  76. anyone have any luck calling in and having an item be in stock that said $null on the website?

    ReplyDelete
  77. Hey Melanie,
I was referring to the chino shorts. If you go to the sale site and click on shorts on the left side bar, they should come up. The original price is $39, but the sale price is $26.99 (26-something) according to the page. However, I am not able to access the page right now because the site is down. However, the item # is 88756.

  78. hey everyone- I just came across this blog yesterday, and I'm so glad I found it! Thanks for all the helpful info and tips. Just a note on the free shipping offer- I placed an order online yesterday (in spite of the ridiculously slow loading time) and then found out about the free shipping offer today. I gave customer service a call and they gladly reimbursed me for the shipping! So if anyone placed an order yesterday while the site was under maintenance, give customer service a call to get your free shipping =)

  79. Regarding order status--

I am used to seeing "in-stock" "shipped" or waitlisted," in the status field, but now my items say "submitted" and "open." I'm not really sure what these mean, especially since a CS rep called me this morning and said the order has shipped. :/

  80. I've tried going onto the site again tonight (yes, I cannot resist), and I'm getting the same message as Amethyst did.

This is just getting too weird, for lack of a better word.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I got the 404 message too when I just typed the address in. I was finally able to access the site through searching for J Crew on Google and going in that way.

That said, I'm not ordering online until the site bugs work themselves out. If I do order anything (ha, if I do... of course I will), I'll be putting a call in instead.

  82. I received my cherry blossom print Frances shirt today. I took a tall size 4 as they were out of my size, regular 4. This is one of those shirts that an ogre could wear & still look pretty!

The rest of my order from last week is pretty blah so I won't bother critiquing the items. Although my hubbies new boxers & sons old red shorts are super cute!!

  84. Monica,
I called CS about the price of the Kate dress and the Favorite fit chinos. They both are listed at 19.99 but ring up higher. They said that the 19.99 colors are sold out and didn't price adjust it. It's one thing I'm not crazy about the new format.... Don't tease me with $19.99 and then make it $98.00 without any warning when I add to cart! LOL It's like saying "nay ney nay, if you had got here sooner, you would have saved 80 bucks---too bad for you!" ;)

    ReplyDelete
  85. Does anyone have the Cleo patent t-strap heels? I ordered them in yellow today--very risky move since they're final sale. Any reviews? Also, I'm so tempted to try some of the chinos on sale. I read the review of the buttery twill. How about the Watson? I have a couple pairs of the Favorite fit everyday chino and they fit great. How is the city fit different? I know it sits lower on the waist but is that it? Does it fit the same throughout the leg? Is it more flared, or the same as the favorite everyday chino? Thanks for your imput! :)

  86. Rach: I got my cherry blossom Frances shirt today as well. WOW!! What has everyone been wearing the Frances shirt with? I took a 4P and it fits perfectly (I am usually a size 0 in regular sizes). I also got the sour lemon which is super feminine and pretty as well. Yaaaa Hoooo!!

  87. The website is down again. :(

    ReplyDelete
  88. jcrewjunkie: do you think the cherry blossom print will look okay with solid chino shorts (as shown on the website)? I'm not too inventive these days! I don't think there's a whole lot you can do with this print other than a solid. It speaks for itself ;)

Now I would love to have the cherry blossom print dress.

  89. Josie -
Boo that they weren't willing to price adjust!!! I feel the same way too, sorry, maybe I would have had a chance to get the Kate Dress in the $19.99 color if your stupid website was working properly!

Didn't you get the tie front dress in the Azalea? I had my eye on that too and now I can't find it!! How do you like the dress?

Also, I was tempted to get those t-strap shoes. I hope they work out for you!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  90. I just got the Sanur dress (in fuschia) and mustard Lana polka dot top I ordered from last week (before all this website hullaballoo, thank God)! Aaand the brushstroke rose bateau top! I had my eye on the Sanur dress from a long time ago and was thrilled to see it go on sale. I had tried one on in the store and knew I had to get one, but not at that moment (wait for the sale, wait for the sale). I love how it can be a regular strapless dress or an empire waist strapless dress or a wide (waist) band skirt!

The brushstroke rose bateau top...I was a little disappointed. The material is a thin cotton-linen mix, lined with a white thin cotton material. The zipper is the kind that easily snags and if pulled incorrectly or too fast may not close properly. (I'm surprised J.Crew, with all its quality, still has zippers like this on their items.) The armholes are bigger than I'd like them to be.

The Lana top I had tried on in the store, so I know I would like that! I did read somewhere that it's something I can carry on into Fall, and that's exactly what I plan to do! =)

  91. Goodnight addicts, I feel so close to you all now… Hope you didn’t have any nightmares and aren’t contemplating suicide. It’ll be okay.
What’s up with JC and Adidas? Are they making the JC sneakers? I saw a pair in of Stan Smiths in the kiddies section of the last catalogue.

  92. jcrewmommy: I have the Camilla sweater. It is beautiful and looks so pretty on. It is a trapeze style, but not exaggerated. I would call it more of a "slight" trapeze style. I do hope that you are able to find one. Good luck!!

  93. The site is still so wrong! Via Vittoria jacket comes up under 'Men sale' when I use the search box to locate it. I'm thinking of ordering it again tonight since there seems to be lost orders from Friday & I haven't been able to get an update on my 3 orders placed on Friday.

Does anyone own the Via Vittoria jacket? Maybe I'm going after something that's not all that great. (I'm the one not crazy for the short, boxy jackets. I feel like I'm all alone as most all of you love the look.) I had purchased the Katie & Kelly jackets but returned them. Almost kept the Kelly in Flame-loved the material & color. It was just a tad too short/boxy for me.

  94. I think I have officially had it with J.Crew.com. Everything was going well until today, when I got the rest of my order from last week and most of the items were either not as described or just plain disappointing. I knew what I was getting into with the final sale, but I wasn't anticipating the dreadfully inconsistent sizing and coloring of the items I purchased. And still I thought well, at least they are giving free shipping now, I should order that sweater I've been wanting; it's on sale, but not final sale, so I thought that I would at least be able to return it. The free shipping code doesn't work on it. Are they for real? I'll call CS tomorrow, but if they stick to the no coupons on sale merchandise policy, I'm through.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Michelle: which free shipping code did you use that did not work on the sweater?

    ReplyDelete
  96. I used FREESHIP like it said to on the website. I tried it several times, but it did not work. I was trying to use a gift card with the order, so I thought maybe that was mucking it up and maybe I should call tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Yes, that's really poor customer relations if FREESHIP is only for Final Sale. I guess they're just not losing enough money this weekend/week!

What's the item # or name & I'll try it. Check back here when you wake up tomorrow because that's probably how long it'll take to get to the stinkin' checkout process!

  98. Does anyone have the Waverly Jacket? Is it true to size? I am thinking of getting it in Soft Azalea. Thoughts? : )

    ReplyDelete
  99. It's the Egyptian Cotton V-neck cardigan #94836. I know you really aren't kidding about checkout taking all night! Thank you for your help Rach :)

Also, best of luck with the Via Vittoria jacket ... I haven't tried it, but it looks fabulous. I found a link to a blog article that mentions it. Cute! Have a good night :)

  101. I quickly ordered the Via Vittoria in white yesterday when I found it in my size. Can't wait to get my hands on it. I'm just a little tired of boxy jackets and want something different. It looks fabulous in pictures. Keeping my fingers crossed! I was considering the Casa Rossa jacket in white but decided to go with this. I'm not a fan of narrow lapels. Anyone has the Casa Rossa and can get me to change my mind?

  102. The sales tax is STILL wrong, coming up at 9 or 10% when mine shd be 2.9%. Even on phone orders. I think it's their system that's messing it up since sales tax is generated automatically whenever an order is placed.

  104. Casa Rosa is definitely boxy. I purchased & returned it! Huge disappointment. In my opinion, sizing down was not going to help.

The only concern w/Via Vittoria is the seam down the back of the arm in one of the photo's. Anyway, I've been waiting to get the Via Vittoria & am concerned my order for 2 of them placed Friday is lost. Maybe I'll buy them tonight & if the others show up, explain to customer service why I ordered them again. Hopefully they would oblige my request to return them after all this website mess.

    ReplyDelete
  105. 90% of things I ordered on Friday were lost ("waitlisted") even when they were in stock and "ready to ship" when I last checked on the old system. Even my items that were not final sale turned into waitlisted when they are in fact available to ship. Go figure!

I'll be surprised if these final sale items get restocked in August (date given on waitlist) when that's the time to sell Fall items.

  112. jcrewmommy,

I have the camilla jacket in navy and love it. I was able to get it a couple weeks ago during the 25% off sale for only $23.99! I saw it again yesterday on the website in red/medium and had it in my bag for awhile but decided not to buy it since I'm normally an xs and had already sized up to a small in mine. I'm sure it'll pop up eventually again. Good luck!

  114. Hi Everyone! It appears is if they finally removed all of the items that were showing up as available, but were really $NULL (not available). Now if they would just add merchandise, remove the Final Sale, keep the FREESHIP code, and give an extra 30% off...SIGH...remember those days???

  116. Monica,
LOL on the Kate dress :)
I do have the tie front dress in soft azalea. It's not perfect, but did keep it and do like it. First, the azalea color is deeper than it looks online. I was expecting more of a pink, while it's more of a fushia. From the front it's absolutely adorable. From the back, the cut actually makes my butt look bigger than I'd like. I'm a size 2/4 and got the Small. I felt it ran true to size. On the up side, it didn't look half as clingy as it did in JCrew's dressing room. I don't know what it is about their lighting, but it shows every flaw! Just knowing that there is lighting out there that does exist (lol) prompted me to buy some spanx to go underneath. I feel like they do the job. All in all I'd recommend the dress (on sale--I wouldn't pay full price.) I'm sure it'll pop up again in the next couple of weeks as the returns start coming in. Incidentally there is one on ebay in pink---can't remember how much they're asking. Good luck!

Vivian: So sorry to hear that many of your "in stock" items are not being "waitlisted" for August. Maybe they will do a "We will find it for you" search? :)

FabulousFloridaMommy: Sorry to hear that you still do not have a tracking number- that sucks. I also know the feeling- waiting for a J.Crew item to arrive by a certain date so you can wear it for an event. :) Hopefully it was really shipped and will arrive on time. :)

  121. I just received my brushstroke rose bateau top and had the same experience with the zipper. I contemplated returning it for a second or two, but I'm wearing it today at work. I love it because it is so comfortable. It's going to be in the hundreds out here this weekend.

I received the san telmo jacket (thanks ladies for the tip) in black in the same shipment. It is going to be a great summer into fall jacket for me. I just hate waiting to wear something new!

  122. Hello all :
My parcel safely arrived yesterday ( hooray for not being lost)and here is what I had inside:
    - Cleo T-strap heels in Autumn Berry (someone asked about them)- very lovely; heel is not too high, comfortable fit, bright and shiny color- I would pair it up w/ my Geranium Lily cardigan and dark jeans;
    -
    Kinzie peep-toes
    in Black- OH MY GOD, these shoes are breathtaking. I already have a matching belt, too bad I missed on the clutch ( someone commented how nice it is). They are so comfortable and georgeous. I did not want to take them out once I unwrapped the box and tried them on. I am seriously thinking to buy another pair in Tawny Olive for whatever price they are selling now;
    - Fuji floral Zoey dress- got it for $45 and soo happy with it. I would definitely not purchase this dress at the full price, but at the price I got it I am very pleased with it. It's a perfect little sunny dress. I normally wear 4-6 in dresses, had to go down to 2 for it to fit right. So, beware.:)
Got few other things, white pop-over blouse (nice!$15), silk espadrilles for $22, but will not go into details as they are not as exciting as abovementioned items.
To comment on the previous posts:
    - Cherry blossom Frances blouse- I am pairing it with white denim cropped matchsticks jeans ( paid full price for them last week , could not resist). These jeans need to be tried on: I had to go with a smaller 28 size ( I am normally 29 in jeans) for a tight/but not overly so fit.
    - Camilla jacket is nice and runs true to size.If you are XS/S - either one will fit nicely. I have it in XS and it fits fine ( little tight in the chest area, but I am busty , that's why a lot of my tops are 4-6 while tees and knit items are XS. BTW, I hate my top size. I can never ever find a good fitting swimwear at J crew b/c of it, and many of the beautiful camis and wrap -dresses are no go for me. I have to wear slip almost under every low cut/sheer garment- which is a nuisance. So, A/B cup ladies- you are blessed and I will trade with you anytime of the day:)).

Oh, another thing- jewelry. I know many find it overpriced or do not wear costume jewlery at all. But I LOVE it. If I could , I would own every piece at J crew! They are of amazing quality. I just hit the jackpot at my local Jcrew- they had the long coveted crystal link bracelet on sale with additional 25% off ( there is no on-line descriotion unfortunately), but it looks like Rhinestone-resin chain-link bracelet (which I had to return last week b/c it was shipped defective(, but all in metal. I posted previously that I wanted it really badly. I got it for only $49 instead of 100+, so happy!
So, although I won't shop on-line as I swore I would not for 1 month, J crew redeemed itself fully in my eyes.:) As I get to know the store associates more, they are warmimg up towards sale customers ( me). Still won't give me a student d/s on top of 25% sale though. Sigh!
    (Sorry for the long post)

    ReplyDelete
  123. slastena: First off...CONGRATS on all the great purchases...sounds like you did REALLY well! :) Second...the Kinzie Peep Toes...do they run true to size? Are you planning to where them this summer, or wait until Fall, and how bright is the berry color on them? Third: congrats also on the store situation...it really helps to have friendly employees and to become "a familiar face", as well. Thanks for the reviews! :)

  124. One more thing: about Via Vittoria jacket. I got it way back in March in White ( needed to wear smth on vacation); it is such a great jacket. I
washed it 3 times already and looks as crisp as when I bought it. I wear it over Sanur dress ( in Fresh clover), over many of my knit dersses, with a simple tee and denim skirt, with bermudas. It has an amazing abaility to transfrom any garment into delightful summer outfit. At the price it sells now, I would grab 2.:)

    ReplyDelete
  125. FabulousFloridaMommy :
thank you so much! You are such a great blogger, I read all of your comments/suggestions/reviewsand find them very helpful.
The KInzie peep-toes are true to size. I wear size 8 and have M width ( although it's more towards M-W since I had a kid:)). Shoes fit perfectly: not too narrow, not to wide. Walking in them was so easy. I thought they would be stiff, but not. I would definitely wear them in summer with tees and jeans ( both dark and white). They add a litle color punch to an outfit. I never had peep-toes before, it's my 1st pair. Now, I am eyeing linen peep-toes MJs. :)
BTW: you were thinking about getting Joelle blouse/cami. Did you purchase it?liked it?

    ReplyDelete
  126. Ok Slastena, now I am absolutely dying to get my Via Vittoria jackets! I've never been through such a build-up or tease (as Alexis put it earlier) as I have for this jacket & the Helena Pave sandals.

    ReplyDelete
  127. slastena: Thanks so much for the compliment...I enjoy being a part of this blog, and just adore all of the other contributors on here! :)

I did purchase both the Joelle blouse in Regal Purple and the Joelle Cami in Navy Blue last Friday, but my order still has not shipped yet. Now I don't anticipate getting them until next week, since Friday is the 4th of July, and UPS doesn't deliver that day. I will be sure to post when I get them. :)

Btw...what is the fit like on the Via Vittoria Jacket? I think we are similar size wise, except I am not at all busty, but have slightly broader shoulders, so I usually size up in Jackets or shirts with sleeves. If you don't mind me asking, what size did you purchase? I LOVE jackets and cardigans...I think they really "pull" an outfit together and just give it a little extra something special. The price is SO fantastic on it right now, especially with the free shipping. :)

    ReplyDelete
  128. To Rach and FabulousFloridaMommy:
I got it in 4 and it IS fitted. Meaning,it hugs well on waist, flares slightly on hips and just about right in shoulders. I have an average size shoulders ( not narrow, not wide). On me it looked slightly more fitted then on a model. FFM, I would probably think of going size up for the shoulders, it would still look very nice.
My last outfit was: white tank, VV jacket unbuttoned, playa madras shorts and gold Santorini sandals. As I love jewelry, I acessorized w/ bird charm necklace and angelfish rope bracelet. I got tons of compliments.:)
Forewarning: the bow is kind of impossible to iron, I have a small steamer, so I iron everything and just steam the bow. What's good that it is a cotton/linen blend, so jacket did not shrink after multiple washes and rumpled look is all in fashion anyway.:)

    ReplyDelete
  129. slastena: I called my store hoping to be able to try one on, but they don't have any. I'm not sure what to do about it...here is my dilema: I wear a small in the sleevless knit tops and Kelly Sweater Jacket, a 0 in the Lana Top, a 2 in the Suzannah Camis, and I bought a 4 in the Emily blouse, but the shoulders ended up feeling too constrictive, so I sold it. I fear that if I get the 4 it may be too tight in the shoulders, but if I get the 6, it won't be fitted enough in the waist...any advice or suggestions?

    ReplyDelete
  130. FabulousFloridaMommy:
Hmm,I think 4 then would definitely be a little constrictive in shoulders. If you don't mind the jacket a little bit loose around waist, I would go with 6. I would have suggested fitting the waist area by a seamstress , but I am not sure if it can be done as it already has some shirring going on in a back. What a dilemma!

    ReplyDelete
  131. FFM: I don't know if you care for the madras jacket but it looks like another fitted jacket. In the store it was 25% off $99.99. They don't appear to be moving so they may come down in price.

    ReplyDelete
  132. slastena: thanks for the advice...not sure what to do. The website actually has it in a 6 with the Free Shipping, but it's Final Sale, so it might not be such a great idea for me to chance it. I wish I could just try it on to know for sure...

    ReplyDelete
  133. FFM: Call & ask for the jackets measurements. I started requesting garment measurements because I am tired of guessing where exactly "hits at hip" is on me.

    ReplyDelete
  134. rach: I think that one is cute, too...I'll have to keep my eye on that one to come down in price...I really, really like the Via Vittoria better though...seems like it is more versatile than the plaid, and oh, so, adorable! Let me know what you think of the Bright Flame...I think it's my favorite J.Crew color right now...I ordered the Kelly Jacket in Bright Flame in a Small, so I really hope that is going to work out...

    ReplyDelete
  135. FFM: I loved the Kelly jacket in Bright Flame. The cotton material was perfect to me but I returned it because of the boxy/cropped style. (I knew it was not my style but I had to try!) It looks great on & I don't like the style. I'm sure you'll love it. The model has wide shoulders & she looks fabulous ;)

    ReplyDelete
  136. rach: I have actually done that numerous times, but as of late it seems that the measurements they give still don't equate to the size I need...

Ok...I just called about the VV Jacket, and once again the measurements they give me just don't add up, and I am left having to "guess". Shoulder on the 4 is 15" with a bust of 36.5, and waist of 31"...the 6 is 15.25", 37.5", and 31", respectively...my personal shoulder measurements are 15.5 (taken from shoulder seam to shoulder seam), so if I go by MY shoulder measurements I would need an 8 or 10, which would just be huge in the bust and waist...UGH...what's even worse is that the rep told me to measure shoulder to shoulder from outer arm to outer arm, and that is almost 20" on me...which would mean that almost nothing at J.Crew would fit me, yet it does...am I taking the measurements at the wrong place??? If I go by what the rep says to do, then nothing fits me, so I have just stopped calling them.

    ReplyDelete
  137. FabulousFloridaMommy:
Bright Flame is my favorite color for the season too.I got Tulip Jacket in store in that color. It's so cute.
I wish I could help you with VV jacket, but seems it's one of those tricky items that needs to be tried on before purchasing. Not to seduce you into buying or anything, but at first I did not give it much thought seeing it in a catalog. When I saw it in a store and tried it on - I was sold on a spot. It is so much nicer in reality, picture just doesn't do justice to it ( as in Alexis story w/San Telmo jacket).

    ReplyDelete
  138. slastena: I'm sure it really is beautiful in person...wish I knew what to do. I'm afraid it would be like the Striped Emily shirts...the 4 was just a "bit" too tight at the shoulder, yet the 6 fit in the shoulder, but I was swimming in extra fabric everywhere else. According to the J.Crew size charts, I am closer to a 6 on top and a 4 on bottom. The bottom part is correct, but the top sizing NEVER seems to be consistent for me. Like I said before...I can wear anywhere from a 0-6 on top...depending on the cut and style of the shirt...makes it SO difficult to shop online, let alone FINAL SALE...UGH!!!! I am now in LOVE with this jacket...I think I could really even get away with it here in Florida now, since it is linen/cotton...especially when I'm indoors...sigh...if only it wasn't Final Sale I would get it...maybe I'll call CS and see if I get an accomodating rep that will let me return it if it doesn't fit. I'll let you know what I decide...I really need to just not spend anymore money... ;)

Thanks for all the help! :)

  139. Size/Fit of JCrew Tops:

I always purchased size 6 or medium t-shirts, cardigans & button down tops and 4's in dresses & cami/halter type tops.

This time around when I purchased the Posey print & the Beaded-stripe pink twisted placket button down tops, described as fitted, I had to size down to a 4. The arm openings were too long in the size 6.

I'm wearing the Slub-cotton twist-neck tee in medium (because the description states it is 'fitted') but it is actually bulky & long (hits just above pelvis).

I think they need to improve product description, & as stated before, post garment measurements like Boden's site.

  140. Please don't get the Madras jacket. It's frumpy, and adds bulk to my body - maybe because of the pattern. It's unlined and the piece I got has some kind of funny metallic thread poking everywhere. I called CS and they said they'll take it back although it's final sale.

  141. After reading the horror stories about missing orders and the BIG thumbs up for the Via Vittoria jacket, I called CS to confirm they have it in stock. I placed the order on Friday, and yes they say it will ship today!!

  143. I don't understand why JCrew uses different names for their items on their website and stores and for their own internal purposes. The Polka Dot San Telmo Jacket is the Lara Jacket to them. The Madras jacket is the Baja Jacket. What gives? It creates so much confusion each time a CS rep calls up my order and I have no idea what she's talking about. If you look at the plastic bags the items are shipped in, they have a different name.

  145. anon @2:25: Thanks for the advice on the Madras Jacket! :)

rach: I completely agree about posting individual garment sizing/detail...I have suggested it numerous times to J.Crew Customer Service online and also to the store employees when I have had to return merchandise because the sizing was inaccurate...looks like that didn't make it as one of their "upgrades"...too bad...it would have made shopping with them alot easier.

I called CS about the VV Jacket, but my rep was not accomodating, so I passed on the purchase. I'm contemplating calling back in a bit to try with a different rep...I'm leary to purchase, as I have a feeling they will do another extra % off sale, since they will really need to get rid of the merchandise they haven't been able to list due to all of their "technical" difficulties...I may be wrong, but it just feels like they should...sad part is they will probably remove the FREESHIP when they do... :(

  146. rach: You said you have 2 of the VV Jacket in Bright Flame and White coming to you...did you get them for the $39.99? I might be interested in one...please let me know how it fits when you get it. From past experience...I think the 6 just might work if their measurements are incorrect again. Thanks! :)

  147. FFM: you're probably right to wait on it as you seem to always get the best deals. Plus I think per one of the other blog sites the VV went 25% off $39.99 at the store. Actually it has been on & off the website & either it was not in my size or it slipped out of my shopping bag before I could check out (imagine that!).

Alexis: I posted a comment about the dog collar jokingly but thought it was dumb & deleted it. I think you & others might get it in the email if you have those settings so I wanted to clear my self from sounding stupid.

Early afternoon sleepiness setting in-sorry about that ;\

  148. The only reason they're offering free shipping is because they know that no one will ever get to place an order...the site crashes before you can process the order!

  149. I returned a dress that I bought on final sale ($150). I didn't have the receipt and I said that I understood that she could only give me store credit for the current price....well the "current price" in the computer was $218!!! I had just bought the dress online 3 days earlier for $150!!!

  150. To Vivian:
The Tulip jacket in red was available in store. I have posted on it earlier, J crew seems not to offer this color on-line. I tried the Tulip and Chessy jackets in-store after someone commented on how nice they are. Liked them both, but Chessy was not right for my figure. Tulip is more tailored, so I got it in 2 (normally I am 4). The sleeves are just so cute.

Ok, I measured my size 4 VV jacket at home, and , indeed, the length from shoulder seam to shoulder seam is 15 in. I made my husband to measure my shoulders (just to make sure) and I am at 14.5". So, the definitive answer is that VV jacket will probably be a little too tight in shoulders for you. I remember trying Metallic Linen Casa Rossa jacket size 4 in store ( I think cut is identical to madras jacket ) and it runs narrow as well.

  152. FREESHIP can't help this JCrew.com shopper, as it is impossible to put items in my cart and check out. DRATS foiled again!

  153. slastena: THANK YOU for going to the extra trouble of measuring for me! I really do appreciate it...hopefully it will come back in stock and they will end this ridiculous Final Sale so I can order it to see if it will fit...they are completely $NULL (J.Crew's annoying little term for SOLD OUT) at this point, so I will just have to keep watch. Thanks again! :)

  154. slastena: what size do you have in the Joelle Blouse? Do you also have the Joelle Cami, and if so...what size?

  155. FabulousFloridaMommy:
I have 2 Joelle blouses(one in Royal purple which is more like a cobalt Blue and one in Silver), both size 2. I could even go to 0 b/c of cut, but they did not have them in 0 when I purchased. They are very floaty/roomy. I do not have a Joelle cami.

  156. slastena: I ordered the size 2 in the Regal Purple, as I had remembered you saying they were very roomy...I tried to order the Papaya in a size 4 this morning (they didn't have a 2), but it sold out before the rep was able to put my order through...I would imagine that a 6 would just be WAY to be, what do you think?

  157. FabulousFloridaMommy:
Size 6 would be WAY to big for someone like us: under 5'5".:) 2 should be perfect. Such a great layering piece. For the 4th of July, I will wear my Joelle Blouse in Royal Purple(blue), white cropped matchstick jeans and Bright Flame Tulip jacket. I am all set!
