Oh no, Final Sale is back!

As many of you pointed out in the "Monogram Shop" post, J.Crew returned it's "final sale" sale. I hate those sales. :( This is when all sales are considered "final" (therefore you can't return the item if you are not satisfied with it.)

Although J.Crew brought back many pieces from previous seasons, I am disappointed to see that they also raised those prices from the lowest point we saw them last. For example, the Polka-dot silk Julia blouse (Item 89514) is now being offered on "sale" for $59.99 from its original price of $115.00. However, I had seen it in the sale section a few months ago for as low as $19.99 (without any "additional percent off" too!) Another example is the Shawl-collar fleece popover (Item 88699) now on sale for $39.99 from its original price of $59.50. I was able to purchase three of these fleece sweaters (in brown, black, and white) for $19.99 in their sale awhile back (again, without any additional percent off).

Thankfully, I did some major J.Crew purchases the last couple of weeks that I won't need to buy anything this week (I should say "for awhile," but I can't hold out shopping for that long!) ;)

Will you be buying a lot this time around in the sale (like getting those pieces you missed out from earlier seasons)? Or will you hold off because you either (1) spent a lot in last couple of weeks at J.Crew or (2) plan to avoid the final sale altogether (and purchase when it is no longer "final sale")?

  1. I just looked through the final sale and noticed, too, the ridiculous price bump! I had purchased the roasted pumpkin flats and the sparkly plaid Margaret shirt (among many, many others) over their winter '07-'08final sale... the flats were, I think, $39.99, but the shirt was definitely $19.99 versus $39.99. Boo, J. Crew! I refuse to buy anything from the past seasons on this principle, especially if all my favorite sites for coupons are still displaying the 'This merchant asked us...' message.

  2. Audrey! I totally hear where you are coming from. It is almost a bit insulting to know that you saw the item for a *considerably* lower price a couple of months ago! The twinkle ballet flats (item 88557) are now $129, and I bought both the black and glitter graphite for $39.99 each a couple of months ago, (and they were even less during the 20% off sale).

  3. UGH!!! I HATE FINAL SALES!!! Especially when the prices are so high...much higher than they were the last time the items were listed, plus now having to pay for shipping, too...talk about adding insult to injury! I almost placed an order last night on the Cotton Matting Drawsting Wide Leg Pant #86328 because I have been waiting on them FOREVER, but was hesitant because I had gotten them for $15.99 in April, and now they are $29.99...checked again this morning because I decided to go ahead and get them because they are such fabulous pants, and now they are sold out in my size in the Navy and White...I am so frustrated!!!

Anyways...other than those pants, I don't see anything I am "dying" to get, especially at these prices and Final Sale, at that. I'll be waiting this one out, too. :)

  4. Forgot to add that what makes it even worse is that last night the pants were NOT even Final Sale...that didn't happen until this morning...not that I would want to return them anyways...it's just the whole idea of a sale being FINAL that I find ridiculous and irritating.

  5. J. Crew sucks. They never have any sizes for normal people. We can't all squeeze into a size 2.

    ReplyDelete
  6. FabulousFloridaMommy- I know what you mean! I rarely return any of my purchases, but the thought of being not able to really distresses me.

And you are right that it is awful that (1) we have to pay for shipping on items that aren't the lowest prices we have seen and (2) that these same items just last night were returnable!

  7. Anonymous at 7:11 AM: I know you were serious but it made me laugh when I read "We can't all squeeze into a size 2". :)

  8. The final sale is indeed annoying. I'm in the process of losing weight and almost bought 5 pairs of shorts in 2 different sizes to see which ones fit best....all were on sale yesterday. But I put off my purchase and now they are in the "final sale". I can't purchase them knowing that if they don't fit and are too big in a few weeks, there's no way to send them back. Ugh! And these final sales usually go on for quite some time, so looks like I'll be sitting out on buying J. Crew for a while unless it's shoes or accessories...something I know will be the same size I always wear!

  9. I did gamble a bit with the Final Sale last night...I bought the matchstick jean without ever trying them on! I thought they looked so cute and they were marked down quite a bit. Does anyone have experience with these jeans?

    ReplyDelete
  10. I had a cashmere sweater in my cart last night that was listed at $89.99 and this morning it's 129.99! I can't believe they've raised the prices on sales items like this! And literally, overnight...Ridiculous!

    ReplyDelete
  11. I'm a little offended by this price hike-does j.crew think that we wouldn't notice the newly inflated prices?

    ReplyDelete
  12. The final sale is really annoying, and I wish they didn't have it. Most of the time when I take a risk on buying something online, I end up keeping it - but the final sale makes me not want to take that risk.

I did learn, however, that if you have a serious issue with an item, they will take it back. During the last final sale I ordered a sweatshirt in medium and when it arrived, I couldn't even get my head into the neck hole. My head isn't THAT big. :-P They apologized and gave me a refund for it.

  13. yea really...i won't be patroning this final sale. i already have 3 orders coming this week anyway ;) like i said in my post under the monogramming subject last night, i bought sale jeans in two sizes - planning on trying them and returning one or both. i'm so glad i bought them the day before they went on *final sale*...i would not have bought them :)

although, the associate in my store said that if you really can't wear somthing that's final sale, they will take it back...they want the customer to be happy (i've done it before)...but, i wouldn't want to go through the trouble again - some associates may not be so accommodating ;)

  14. $90 more on your shoes, Alexis, outrageous! And Anon, $40 price bump overnight is ridiculous. Who sets these prices? I thought final sale was more for getting those items out, not for sticking us with high prices on items that we can't return (although I have had success when returning these items to a store). Perhaps they will bring back the additional 40% off sale, but that still won't cover many of the price hikes mentioned in these comments. These sales last a really long time, too. What a bummer. Hopefully someone over at JCrew is watching us over here...

    ReplyDelete
  15. I got the white Frances blouse in a 2P and that is it. I had one box that arrived on Monday and two more arriving today so I am not in dire need of anything at the moment. I too hope that someone from J Crew is "watching us" since it seems that we are representative of the niche that they are trying to appeal to.

  16. Lastnight at 11 I was sitting at my computer and everytime I refreshed more and more items were being listed. And then.. more and more items began disapering.. Im so glad all they have in the mens section is XL.. love that. JUST KIDDING THAT MAKES ME MAD!

    ReplyDelete
  17. The price hike on the silk Emma peacock print dress is ridiculous as well- I got it last fall for $50 and now it is $119!

    ReplyDelete
  18. I agree with everyone. The final sales are pretty lame. Especially if you can't even try on the clothes.

Even though I see some cute items in the Petites section, I'm going to have to pass on this sale. Oh, wait. I ALWAYS pass on their final sales :o)

  19. For guys, final sales are awesome. I bought a 3 ties for 19.99 each, 2 belts for 9.99 each and 3 shirts for 19.99 each. DEAL of the WEEK!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Awww, man. I just looked at the accessories and saw all the clutches. Must RESIST!

    ReplyDelete
  21. They are adding even more styles to final sale since earlier this a.m. This is frustrating! There is nothing I am absolutely dying for yet feel the need to keep checking in just in case there's a great deal to be had on something I could love for a lower price. It may be terrible what they do with the pricing but obviously they know what they're doing as we are still checking the site. sw

    ReplyDelete
  22. I have the glitter graphite flats too! (Among one of the many things I got last time. And yes, they were like 39.99)...

The matchstick jeans are exactly that-- matchsticky. In other non-J. Crew terms, they're skinny pants-- although, definitely, not tapered. I think I sized up on mine because it's cut narrow all over; I actually have the cords (got them for like, 0.99 a while back). I like the jeans that are on sale-- I have a weakness for jeans in dark washes-- but I still like the boot-cut type jeans better, And, for that person who said that we're not all size 2: I am definitely not a size 2 (try, like, size 12) but J. Crew has always worked for me.

    ReplyDelete
  23. It's probably a sign that I shop there way too often, but they always seem to have a % off sale, a pause, another % off sale and then BAM... final sale with inflated prices.

I live in Europe so my parents have to send the stuff to me (they don't ship here), which is a major pain. Yet, it's an addiction I keep feeding because the clothes here are crazy expensive for mediocre quality and most aren't my style. Even with this exchange rate this sale is a no go for me.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I'm going to refrain (or try) like you, Alexis. I think I've pretty much gotten what I wanted this season - at least for now... I hope... I can only pray...

    ReplyDelete
  25. I'm going to sit this one out as well. With them constantly adding new things, this is when it becomes convenient to have those free shipping codes with no minimum! It's almost impossible to reach the minimums for free shipping with sale items because of items disappearing from the shopping cart!

Like everyone else on here, I am disappointed to see the price increase on previous items. I bet J.Crew is banking on non-obsessive shoppers to not realize these are old items that used to be cheaper. When you buy final sale, you expect a bargain! Some of these items are marked down no more than $10-$20 on a $60 item... that's not good enough of a sale for a non-returnable item, in my opinion!!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I appreciate that, as a for profit company, they are trying to generate as much revenue as possible. A lot of the overpriced sale stuff I was looking at last night is sold, and they have a right to start it out at those prices. Their stock plummeted and has not recovered, and as a stock holder, I appreciate them not just giving everything away before seeing if those same items can generate more revenue.

Obviously, as a shopper, I love everything to be dirt cheap, lol. I'm not a big fan of their habit of bring back old seasons merch, and not discounting it heavily, but I can see why they like to start it out high, and then sell off what doesn't move more cheaply later.

I'm dying to see the new Fall merch/Catalog, and hope that the stock recovers with a strong Fall lineup.

    ReplyDelete
  27. i too love their fall catalogs...fall/winter has always been my favorite time for jcrew clothes...it's also when i spend the most money there!!!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Re: Fall, I saw a few pics of their preview, and it looks awesome! I don't want summer to be over, but I'd love to see some new stuff here :)

    ReplyDelete
  29. the new catalogs are in stores today and there's not much to rave about:(

    ReplyDelete
  30. I saw the July catalog two days ago and there was nothing that excited me although I look through it several times. On the other hand,I also saw a preview of some fall items and they are both exciting and beautiful.

    jcrewjunkie :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. The Fall Catalog, I think, comes out in July/August, and it's pretty thick.

I call that catalog the 'Coats & Cords' Catalog, and I love getting it. I curl up with some coffee or cocoa, peruse it slowly, and plan my crazy fall spending.

    ReplyDelete
  32. The men's does not have any good sizes...especially in the pants section. I did, however, order the hand-tooled embossed belt, which was $89.99, originally $150.00!! Plus, I got my teacher's discount. Normally, I would never pay such a high price for something but I figured I have enough tee-shirts and khakis at this point and having something unique will really make an outfit. The belt looks great in the catalogs, too. Can't wait to get it!!! Also, HAPPY SUMMER TO ALL OF THE TEACHERS THAT READ THIS BLOG!!!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Final sale is 25% off in stores and I hope all of your stores don't have little preteens blocking the whole sale section like mine did today!

Also, I got a bizrate survey from the Crew after I went on my winter sweater spending binge the other night and they actually responded to my comment about the free shipping with no minimums being taken away with a personal email. I was impressed!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I'm sorry, but I don't think J.Crew stock would have plummeted had they continued to allow the Free Shipping Codes and for the different sites to post them...they did it to themselves, and I don't feel sorry about that...they can fix it all by allowing free shipping again. I AM sorry for all of you stockholders who DON'T get to make the decisions, but do have to suffer from their poor business tactics. :(

On another note...the customer service really is great, at least, and I really think that if you reach a rep who isn't accomodating, then you should call back later and speak to someone else. I was able to get free shipping today because back in April I ordered the same pants I almost ordered last night, but they never shipped as the available stock was mistaken. Long story short...I called about it and the rep gave me free shipping on the pants that were available in my size this morning, due to the issue I had back in April. I called back later and got another item price adjusted to what I had paid in the store on the same top, different color, and it is also coming with free shipping...in the meantime, the white pants became available in my size, so they are also shipping for free, and that C.S. Rep adjusted the price back to what I was supposed to have paid in April! Days like this are what keep me coming back for more! :)

  35. I saw the Final Sale yesterday night.Realised that lot of the items were from winter collection, which were much cheaper on the web site or in the store itself couple of months ago!!! I am amazed at this Final Sale, first of all the prices absolutely do not justify the final sale and the selection too ,it as though they brought out all their old bins and looked through it and put up all that was not sold in the past!!!
A couple of years ago ,when they had final sales the price range was more in the 10-25$ range and there used to be a lot ofgood stuff and you really did not mind paying the shipping and that if it did not fit you then you were out of only a small amount of mony.
Bottom line - I will pass this sale !!
However I will look in my local stores if there is anything good - atleast I can try stuff on before buying Final sale .

  36. Thinking back to the happier days of Summer Sale, I got my Katie Sweater Jacket in the mail today (shipped for free!), and I absolutely love it! It's just adorable!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Heather c: I can totally understand your hesitation in purchasing anything from the sale section. Hopefully it won't last too long! :)

Stephanie: Congrats on the matchstick jeans purchase. I always thought they looked great!

Anonymous at 8:43 AM: That really is ridiculous. Same item in your cart jumped in price significantly is absurd! I agree with Marisa on this one that it is outrageous!

Anonymous at 9:05AM: I know! :) As if we won't notice an item we have been waiting to get didn't jump in price significantly!

Anonymous at 9:33AM: I love the Frances blouse (ended up getting one myself). They are so nice! Congrats on the purchase!!!

Daniel: You are too funny about "that makes me mad!" But it does seem like you did pretty well with those items you got. The belts and shirts are really sweet deals!

Anonymous at 10:42 AM: I do that too, check to see if there is something I missed. :)

FabulousFloridaMommy: I am so happy to hear that Customer service was able to resolve the issue and provide free shipping. That is fantastic!!! :)

Sue.Bee & CCBmum & Carol & Lynn & Miramar: Glad to hear I won't be the only one sitting out this "final sale" round. :)

I can't decide whether to keep it or not. To those that own it: how do you wear it? Do you button up all the buttons? I just feel so flat-chested and like the jacket has no shape! Also, what do you wear it with?

    Thanks for any input!

  41. Hello everybody

I'm 100% sure J.Crew marketing is watching this blog, it's become the mouthpiece of jcrew fans/shoppers in my opinion. And it's good that we vent off our frustations like this, so that they can hear. I placed a final sale order today, but coupled with the Private Sale discount, it came to a fair price, and I got the gorgeous Amelia tank in almond for about 49.99. But I didn't get any of the rehashed winter clothes at outrageous prices.
Like Emily, I am a J.Crew lover from abroad, and it's a major major pain to triangulate my shipments via my ex-husband to Brazil. Sometimes I do a little J.Crew shopping at ebay, there are some specialized sellers there, offering BNWT J.Crew merchandise and those hard to find pieces that went out of stock.
I wish J.Crew would ship internationally, and I wish J.Crew wouldn't charge those skyrocketing prices on children's clothes.

  42. hi lynn: i (will) wear mine buttoned up with my matchstick jeans (i have some long ones and cropped ones)...dark wash since i got the geranium one. i think the sweater will go with any fitted dark pants or shorts since it is a boxy shape...but i like how it is fitted around the bust (and i am challenged in the bust area ;)... did you notice that the snaps at the top are almost impossible to undo??? i practically broke a nail trying to unsnap it :)

    ReplyDelete
  43. Well, I just ordered the favorite-fit everyday chino in petite sizes and I have to say - I am getting a little frustrated! I want some "nice-casual" pants and I feel like I am having a huge problem finding pants that fit right at J. Crew.

I am trying to find a pair of straight-legged pants that fits properly in the waist. I am a pear shape and must have a weird waist / thigh ratio because anything that fits in my waist is always too baggy in my thighs. The everyday chino had slight flares at the knees, which I felt made me look shorter - something I definitely don't need! :)

Any advice on pants would be greatly appreciated!!!

    ReplyDelete
  44. CCbMum: I had to laugh when I read about practically breaking a nail to undo those snaps because I knew exactly what you meant!!! They are terrible to snap on and undo. :) But the sweater is very pretty.

Lynn: Like CCbMum, I am also "challenged in the bust area" [had to steal that quote from her because I think it is great to describe my situation ;) ] and find the sweater to be very nice still. I also wear mine buttoned up. I wear a tank underneath that is fitted and some trouser jeans.

Anonymous at 8:58 PM: I am happy this is a place where we all feel comfortable to share our feelings. I really thought I was the only one noticing certain things. But after this blog, I see I was not the only one!!! :)

I also sympathize with your situation: living abroad where J.Crew doesn't ship to. Hopefully the company will recognize that they have a strong international following as well! :)

    ReplyDelete
  45. I should clarify - in my last post, I meant that I'd ordered them and they came in. When I tried them on, those were the faults I'd noticed. Pants that are looser in the waist and tighter in the thighs are what I need from J. Crew!

Any opinions / thoughts on the J. Crew cuts / fits would be greatly appreciated from my fellow readers!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Melanie: I know J.Crew pants can be difficult to find for pear-shaped bodies (being that I am also pear-shaped!) :) I am always a fan of the city-fit pants that J.Crew offers (like the City-fit buttery twill trouser).

Also, I know this isn't J.Crew, but GAP offers me some great casual pants for my pear shape. In particular the Tab-front wide leg pants ) are excellent. I bought both the black and desert khaki.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Congrats to all of you who got the Katie Sweater Jacket...it is really super cute! I tried it on in the store in both Navy and Geranium (loved them both) but just felt it was a little too "heavy" for Florida right now (we are in the 90's). You all got a fabulous deal on them, though!

Lynn: if I had gotten one, I was going to put it with Trouser Jeans or Wide Leg Pants and a Perfect Fit Tank...probably buttoned up all the way. I think khakis and a white tank would look really pretty with the Geranium, and a kelly green tank with the Navy and a pair of khakis. :)

Anonymous at 8:58 pm...I have often thought about J.Crew watching this blog, and sometimes worry/wonder that it may not be such a good thing at times, with us knowing so much about how the website is run...what do you think Alexis?

ccbmum: are the graphic tees in the Final Sale the one's you were talking about the other day? I saw them in my store yesterday...very cute! :)

As for any further shopping in this sale...unless items get marked down to $19.99 or less, and I know how they fit...I will be sitting the rest of it out. I only purchased my pants because of the great customer service rep who made it worthwhile. :)

    ReplyDelete
  48. Alexis: I have both the Black and Desert Khaki Gap Tab-Front Wide Leg Pants, too! Sounds like we have the same taste in other brands, as well. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  49. FabulousFloridaMommy: I actually have thought the same thing on whether or not J.Crew's marketing team had this blog on its radar. I sometimes worry if us knowing/sharing so much about their website is good/bad too! :) But considering how many customers know the same things, I am sure J.Crew must be somewhat aware of it themselves. :)

Ultimately, I believe the people who are the most frequent (and repeat) visitors to this blog are their core clients. I know that I spend anywhere from about $7-10,000 a year on J.Crew and there are others on this blog who have mentioned that they spend as much as $20,000 a year. (Those purchases really add up quickly!)

Hopefully J.Crew recognizes that fact and would not want to do anything to disrupt our loyalty to them.

    ReplyDelete
  50. FabulousFloridaMommy: You own the same Gap pants too! That is hysterical- we really do have the same taste in clothes!!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  51. btw Alexis: did you notice that we gave Lynn the same advice on how to wear the Kelly Jacket, too? Too Funny!!!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Oh, and we were typing that advice at the same time, too...you just posted before me, since mine was about a mile long. ;)

Have you tried the Cotton Matting Drawstring Wide Leg Pants I've been obsessing over getting all day? They are really fabulous...I had them on when I was in my J.Crew store on Friday and a woman came up to me and said, "I LOVE your pants...where did you get them?" I told her on JCrew.com, but that they hadn't been available, and what do you know...now they are! :) I really do love them...lightweight and perfect for the weather here. :)

    ReplyDelete
  53. FabulousFloridaMommy: the tees i saw in the store aren't online (yet?)...maybe they're in the new catalog and/or will be online soon...the stores out here (sf bay area) frequently have stuff that i don't see on line or in the catalogs and always have the new stuff before i see it online...does the same thing happen back east?

as for gap pants, i too have mostly gap pants/shorts...i've always had trouble with jcrew pants...except for the matchstick jeans...they are so low cut that they work with my left over baby tummy that won't go away!! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  54. Silly question....time is ticking and I was wondering if anyone has the French stripe jacket or the Clementina Cashmere sweater? I am thinking of getting them with the PRIVSALE discount and have only a few more hours to take advantage! I am heading to the outlets in Palm Springs this weekend with friends and may splurge there instead if I am not convinced about these two items.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Thanks ccbmum, Alexis, and FFM for the advice on the Katie sweater jacket! FFM- I love pairing navy with kelly green as well!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Melanie: I just bought the best fitting jeans from the Gap. They're the "Welt-pocket curvy jeans" (item #540402). The fit on the hips and thighs is terrific! (Not a straight let-it's boot cut.)The denim is kind of stretchy but not too stretchy. I have never bought JCrew denim (except in skirts) so I can't compare them for you. Hope you try them. I have a discount code they sent with my order for 10% off if you want it. :)sw

    ReplyDelete
  57. I'm glad I finally found an outlet for my J Crew obsession!! I never find deals at the store aside from an occasional sweatshirt so I rely on the online sales to pull me through. The lack of free shipping codes has really cramped my style and I'm finding that I have to be pretty savy to get the good deals online now too. So thank you all who post here for helping me to find those J Crew deals that make me, oh so, happy!!

    ReplyDelete
  58. JCrew must be mad at me. I have three orders pending but when I go to check my order it says they can't locate any orders in my name ;( Is that a sign they're database in the midst of updates right now? hmmm

    ReplyDelete
  59. Scream! Even when I type in the order # from the email confirmation it says they can't locate the order...somethings going on over there...

    ReplyDelete
  60. I'm having the same problem but I think that this is a common time that they do updates on the system. I notice the 20% off sales usually start and end around now.

    ReplyDelete
  61. What would you wear with the twinkle ballet flats? I'm more on the conservative/classic side but not quite preppy. I love JCrew's clothes but don't buy into the trends so much. I'm not a core customer as I don't spend the amounts Alexis quoted earlier. (In my 20's yes, but not now.) I still love a deal and love the look of JCrew.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Are you registered with the website? I was able to log in and view my "order status"

    ReplyDelete
  63. I LOVE LOVE LOVE all the ideas for the solid color Katie jackets, BUT what about the ivory/black stripe one? What would you wear with it? Would you button it up or leave it open? What about shoes? Any and all help is greatly appreciated!!

  64. I am the one who mentioned that I spend around $20k on J Crew clothing each year. I also mentioned, in another post, that I believe we are a group that represents the very nich that J Crew is catering to. I would think, therefore, that they would listen to our thoughts/views and at least come up with a compromise that is suitable to everyone. I do hope that they have us on their radar because that is the only way that we can hope things will change. I must mention that I feel as if I found my Camelot when I happened upon this blog. :)

  65. JCrew, if you are reading this.....I love love love your clothes, but the Final Sales just make me mad and I refuse to shop during that time. For me, it isn't as much about the fact that the prices are higher (although that really disappoints me), it is about the fact that I cannot return items bought online! I spend a large amount of money at JCrew each year and I am basically a walking JCrew ad. But even I cannot always determine what is or isn't going to fit or flatter me without trying it on first. I understand the need to protect your revenue, but won't you please consider issuing a store credit for final sale returns? That would seem like a fair compromise.

    ReplyDelete
  66. ccbmum: I also noticed a couple of items in my store the other day that are not available online...when I asked the manager about them, she said they are probably a "retail only" item, and won't go on the website. They were summery, sleeveless cotton lawn tops that are perfect for Florida weather, so I wonder if they maybe make retail only items specific to certain regions? My store isn't allowed to sell Cashmere anymore (even the summer Cashmere) because it is considered a Summer/Warm store, and apparently it didn't sell well...not too surprising, as I have several J.Crew cashmere pieces and I am not impressed at all with the quality for the price, so I don't know if it doesn't sell due to that, or could be just that people here don't want to wear sweaters in the Summer, even if it is cashmere. ;)

anonymous at 10:56pm: it can take up to 24 hours before your orders will be accessible online...if you have your order reference numbers you can always call J.Crew Customer Service and they can look it up for you. :)

lynn: I was also thinking that a pretty orange or yellow tank with the navy jacket would look great, as well. Pairing the jacket with a tank and cute floral or plaid skirt would make it even more feminine, too.

anonymous at 11:25pm: If I had the twinkle ballet flats I would wear them with something simple...perhaps dark rinse jeans or khakis with a white or black blouse. I think you have alot of possibilities, but keep the shoes the focal point and your clothing understated.

anonymous at 12:32am: the striped kelly jacket is really cute...I even looked at that one in my store, too. ;) What about pairing it with a Red or French Blue tank and Black Wide Leg Pants or Trouser Jeans? Because of the color of the buttons, I think it would also look pretty with a Black Tank and Khakis...I would also say to wear it buttoned up. I also think that ballet flats would be adorable, though I would personally go for a pair of the J.Crew Mary Janes or a pointy-toe pump. :)

Alexis: any news on the Chambray skirt?

  67. Going thru alot of jcrew sadness right now. I, too, hate the final sale. Expecially for the stuff that is still at a pretty high price, and I've never even tried on! The only thing I would order right now is a clearance t that is 9.99. I just got all the way thru checkout with it--typing as fast and my finger would, and at the very end...the item just dissappeared!! sad!
I, too, placed a big order last week--before the final sale--and only 1 thing worked. So, I'm very glad that I can return it all. Fyi-- Sunshine State scarf tote was $78.00 now $39.99 http://www.jcrew.com/catalog/product.jhtml?id=prod94833153&catId=cat90244 very dissappointing. Not anything like the pic--totally cut from the middle of the scarf prints--so it just looked like a busy print bag. sad. I love j crew--but...

  68. FabulousFloridaMommy: Too funny! But great minds think alike! ;) I also gave the same advice you did about the twinkle ballet flats too! :)

The Cotton Matting Drawstring Wide Leg Pants look perfect for me! I can't wait to get them in my size. I haven't seen them in stores though, is it just online only?

Also, I will post this under the Chambray skirt post later today, but I decided which one to keep this morning... I am ending up with the size 8 skirt. The size 10 was way too loose on me. But the size 8 looks great. Unfortunately, neither skirt fell below my knee, but they both hit right at the knee (instead of above the knee) which works great for me! So again, thanks for the advice of moving up a size. Otherwise I would not have kept/gotten such a great skirt!

Anonymous at 10:45 PM: That is so nice of you to share with Melanie your coupon code! :) I know those things are hard to come by too.

Anonymous at 10:53 PM: Happy to hear that this blog and its visitors are helping out so much. :)

Anonymous at 11:25 PM: The twinkle ballet flats look great with a dark pair of jeans and a black top. I get compliments all the time from my friends on my two sparkle flats. (But my friends also expect me to wear something like that too- sparkles and cute flats!)

Anonymous at 12:32 AM: I prefer to wear all Katie sweater jackets (striped or solid) buttoned up: it keeps it shape better and shows off the ruffles more (and I do love ruffles!) :)

jcrewjunkie: You stated what I was trying to in an earlier post, very well (better than me)! :)

Kerry: I laughed when I read the "walking JCrew ad" because I know exactly what you mean!!! ;)

BlueMoss: Sorry to hear about the Sunshine State scarf tote. I hate it when the item doesn't resemble the JCrew image. :( Hopefully you can return the tote with no problems.

  69. After reading all the wonderful reviews of the Emily blouse I was able to get two of them. I wore the sour lemon bunny print one yesterday and it looked so summery and feminine...garnered lots of compliments. I also purchased during the "final sale" (ugh) the one in pink stripe. Again, thank you all for such wonderful suggestions/ideas, they are SO APPRECIATED. Have a great day!

  70. Although I haven't posted yet, I am an avid reader of this great blog! :) And I do have to share my final sale story since it is a good story, and I have nothing but bad feelings for final sale...

I ordered the polka dot bow skirt in sweet papaya (#90966), and it arrived on Tuesday looking fabulously cute but a size too big. When I went to return it to my local store and have them ship me the smaller size from the red phone, I was told it was sold out. Then this morning, it was back in my size but final sale. :( I was scared to order it in case I want to keep the bigger size and just have it altered a bit. So I called my local J.Crew, and they said that they would let me return whichever skirt I wanted to with no problem since I purchased one before final sale. So then I called J.Crew back to order the skirt, and they honored the free shipping since I tried to get it on Tuesday from the store! :)

All in all, it hasn't changed my feelings for final sale, but it is always great to know that J.Crew will work with you if you just ask! :)

  71. I get so frustrated with items dissapearing from the shopping cart. I'm starting to think its some kind of trick or so. Made two orders with the final sale but have decided to sit and wait this one out now. Its ridiculous and extremely frustrating.

    ReplyDelete
  72. I am browsing this sale but not shopping it yet... prices are just too high for past season and final sale! I did just get my box from the last "extra 20" sale... the orange Candace jacket is really nice - the orange is definitely orange but not neon... really close to an Hermes box orange. The jelly ballet flats are great... I am pretty much an 8.5 so don't like to have to order up, but the 9 in this is a perfect fit... definitely could not have done an 8 so I found them to run a just a tad small. As Alexis said, though, they really don't have any support, and to me feel a little different than a normal ballet flat. But they will be great for all our Spring rain here! The jeweled posy capri sandals are ADORABLE! I don't know why these haven't sold out. The marmalade color is going to be really versatile for the colors in my wardrobe and great I think against white or dark denim capris.

  73. wow! Just noticed the shawl collar fleece popover is on sale for $39.99 today... I have one in heather twig and it is great... so I had an ivory one in my cart 2 days ago - it was $19.99! It jumped out of my cart and now I see the price has gone up $20... don't think I'll be ordering!

  74. Thanks to everyone for the tips on pants! I am going to have to check these out for sure.

ffm: I always wonder about wide-legged pants for me. I am not extremely short (5'3") but I still feel like wide-legged pants tend to make me look bottom heavy and very short. Are the wide-legged pants very baggy?

ccbum: I would greatly appreciate the coupon code, but would not want to deprive you of using it, if you wanted to! :) If the offer still stands, thank you so much for your kindness.

  75. To Melanie:
If you are contemplating buying Favorite-fit cotton matting wide-leg pant , please, try them on before. I know Alexis had a great experience with them, but I did not. I am 5'5", bought the pants last year for $19.99 (in navy and white), size 4 and returned both pairs. While I love wide-legged pants, I have found that I cannot predictibly buy all the varieties. Some of them are hit, some are miss. Problems that I had with Favorite-fit cotton matting wide-leg pant:
    - too long and too wide ( could not figure how to hem them)
    - the crotch area ( hmm,is there another word for that area?;)) is too short and waist is too big.
So, 4 was fine on the butt, too big on a waist, too short on a crotch and too wide and long on bottom.:)

I can see how it would work nicely on someone taller and more athletic,or but not for hourglasses ( maybe for pear-shaped).

    ReplyDelete
  76. Hi Melanie! The Cotton Matting Drawstring Pants are definitely wider than most "Trouser Leg" Pants, and that's exactly why I love them! :) I am only 5'4', so I'm not but an inch taller than you, and I ALWAYS wear wide leg pants...they tend to look best on me with a heel(usually a wedge), and I think that if anything they make me look taller and thinner, as they hide the areas of my body that I like the least (my hips and thighs). I am more of a pear/hourglass shape- size 2/4 on top and 4/6 on bottom, but do also have an athletic build. I have a small bust, but my shoulders are broad, my arms are muscular, and my waist is small, so I try to show my upper body more with fitted and sleeveless tops, and camoflauge my pet peeve areas with the wide leg pants. I find that the key to wearing the wide leg pants successfully is to have something fitted on top, that way you don't look "wide" allover. Here is a link to the Cotton Matting Drawstring Pants where you can buy them and they are NOT final sale...just keep checking for your size, and print out a copy of your shopping bag as proof that they are NOT final sale, in case they come packaged as such(that happened to me once). Favorite-fit cotton matting wide-leg pant - NOT FINAL SALE
    Hope this helps! :)

Hi Alexis: yes, the Cotton Matting Drawstring Pants are online only, unfortunately. :( It sounds as if we dress very similarly...fitted with our tops, but wider in the leg on our pants. I find it works best for my body type. :)

  79. Melanie: I was an anonymous blogger who offered the Gap 10% discount code, which expires July 9th. I'm assuming it's one time use. Do you want me to take a chance & post it here? I think I can put my email address on the profile page if you would rather get it that way.

  80. Here's a final sale stinker for you. I purchased a cami full price NOT in final sale. It went to final sale after I ordered it, within the seven day price adjustment window. I emailed JCrew a request to honor the price adjustment and they responded they would but the item is now considered final sale to them. I have not even received the cami yet! I'm not upset as I own the cami in another color but it's just the point. They should take in consideration the date of the order.

  81. i think the b&m stores may have better deals than online.

although my local j.crew is also "Final Sale", i got the following for a lot less than what's currently showing online, especially after the additional 25% off (the prices reflected below is the cost before the additional 25% was applied)

Refined Canvas San Telmo Jacket priced in-store for $59.99

    Polka-dot Caterina Top priced in-store for $19.99

  85. I had ordered 8 "Lightweight cashmere scarf (# 89444)" last Wednesday, the 11th by phone. They were shipped out this Tuesday. When I opened the box yesterday, 7 out of 8 were marked as final sale! I really do not understand. However it does not matter to me if they are final or not since I love them and will keep them definitely. My point is that it is not right to mark "final sale' by shipping date. It really should go with ordering date! For the scarf itself, I got two white ones from store and called 800 number and they have all 4 other colors (blue, green, pink, orange). So I got 2 for each color. Just love them.

  86. I just received one of my orders containing the Linen-cotton Casa Rossa jacket item 94140. Thankfully ordered before final sale. I usually wear a size 6 in jackets/button down tops. This jacket is cut boxy and not at all fitted. Sizing down will not help. They definitely pinned it in the back on the mannequin in the item's photo. How I wish I could've bought the Via Vittorio before it sold out.

    ReplyDelete
  87. anonymous at 3:42pm - how much did you pay for the lightweight cashmere scarves?

    ReplyDelete
  88. Anonymous at 3:42: that happened to me once, too, and they were items that I had to return, but I simply called Jcrew, they noted when my order date was and said the items should not have been final sale for me. I had them send me an email saying that and returned them to the store with no problems whatsoever. It sounds like the items work for you anyway, but just in case it happens again or to anyone else!

  89. it's.a.southern.thing: That is fantastic customer service! I love hearing about those stories too! :)

Shoppinginseattle: I really like the jeweled posy capri. SO pretty! I also think it is really unbelievable of J.Crew to let you have the popover fleece in your cart one day at one price and the next day the price jumps by $20.

Slastena: You are too funny with the "crotch... is there another word for that area" comment. I know exactly what you mean, you don't want to write it but there is no better term for it. :)

FabulousFloridaMommy: You pegged me in terms of clothing outfits. Exactly like you, I like fitted on top and wide in the leg. :)

Rach: That is a bummer that they now consider the cami final sale. But if you really don't like the cami, I am sure they will let you return it. :)

Anonymous at 3:42 PM: Does the order slip also say "final sale"? Because if it does, then it really is outrageous on J.Crew's part to make an item a "final sale" one without your prior knowledge.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Yay! One of the swim tops I ordered was waitlisted for 7/31. Just got the e-mail that it shipped today. I just hope they don't do the bait-and-switch for final sale on me too.

  91. Congrats Sue.Bee! That is definitely good news. :0)

  92. FFM: I am like you in that I like fitted tops and looser pants, but I think my style is slightly different. It sounds like you like to wear heels a lot, which definitely work with wider legged pants, but I wear flats almost exclusively. Since I'm not adding height to myself, it's important to me that my pants have straight clean lines (no flared legs!) and also that they're not TOO wide because I don't wear heels to elongate the line.

I have been trying hard to figure out my proportions after these pants discussions, but I think the general problem might just be my pickiness. :) I feel like my biggest problem area is my tummy, which is why pants that fit in the thighs never fit in the waist. I like pants with a lower fit in the waist, those seem to be the best ways to find pants that work in both areas. Anything with a high waist tends to produce a VERY unattractive bubble-out effect.

So I am a victim of my weirdly shaped body and own pickiness. :) Help!

  93. anonymous at 4:45: I paid $11.99 each before tax on those lovely scarves. The story is I got the white one at my local store for $14.99 each and they did not have any other colors. After searching Jcrew.com, I found there were pink and green in stock at $39.99 each. Even though it was still in the 20% off promotion days for sale items the 20% off could not be applied when I added them to bag. So I called CS and the lady on the phone told me she was able to fix the problem. She also said there were 4 colors rather than 2 colors available. I ordered one for each color. While she was working on my order, she said I will love those soft scarves. And I told her I have the white one and how much I love it and how much I paid. After she knew how much I paid for the white one, she let me hold the phone a while. When she came back she said she will honor me the store price plus 20% off. I guess she either went to verify what I said or talked to her supervisor. I was really suprised. I added one for each color immidiately. That is how I bought 8 of them.

Rosieposie: Thanks for your advice. It was very nice of you. I am not going to return anything in this order but I am sure your tip will help other people.

Alexis: The "final sale" did print on the slip! What I do not understand is one of the 8 without the * after it and all other 7 have with a * and "final sale" printed after them. Even more my stuff was shipped on the 17th and the online final sale has not been started until 10pm on the 17th! Weird, isn't it?

  94. Anonymous at 9:45 - that is an AWESOME deal!! wow, I can't believe that! Are they 100% cashmere? How much were they regular price? I'm amazed :)

    ReplyDelete
  95. I didn't know that the Final Sale started yesterday. But yes, I did buy a couple of shirts that I have been eyeing on and they were last year's. One of them is the Suzannah Liberty shirt in Roasted Olive. I know that these shirts have been marked down to 19.99 late Winter/early Spring. I have two of the three colors and I love Liberty fabrics! I have never seen the Roasted Olive in stock for xs size. So I saw it today for 59.99, I thought, well I still love it and yes I am willing to pay for it. The other shirt is Round Collar Boy shirt in Roasted Pepper. Again the same story regarding size but I know that the lowest price they have ever marked down on these prior today was 79.99, so 59.99 was okay by me.

What I love about J Crew is their fabrics. I don't buy everything that they offer, and I only wear certain colors (mostly blues and blacks) for simplicity.

I scoured the internet for free shipping and discount codes. I'm glad to find this blog. I paid for full shipping this morning purchase, but oh well, the price of gas, driving around and having an impatient 20 month old toddler shopping, shopping at home is the best for now.

  96. A: They are 100% cashmere and the full price was $68 according to the label.

  97. Hi Melanie...I completely understand about the issue with wide leg pants and no heel. I do have to mention that you might consider hemming them to the correct length to wear with your flats, which would mean they should be to the floor with your flats on, but not any longer. I have a few pair that I wear with flat sandals, and they are a slightly shorter length. The Cotton Matting Pants have wider legs, but are in no way "clown like"...just a little wider than the Trouser Style or the GAP pants Alexis and I spoke about earlier. BTW...most of the wider leg pant styles I own have a lower rise (waist) on them...I can't wear higher rise, either, as I am short waisted and like my pants to sit further down on my hips. :) Have you been able to try any of the pants on in the store? Maybe you could go to J.Crew and GAP to get a feel for what we have been talking about...GAP is really great when it comes to fitting different body types in pants...I own alot of their pants and jeans, as I am quite "picky" myself. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  98. took back the tote with no problem...bought it before it was final sale. Fun to happen upon all the new looks in the store when I returned it.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Anonymous at 9:45 PM: That is awful that "final sale" was printed on it. Even though you are going to keep the items, it is the principle behind it- JCrew has no right to switch the terms on you without your knowledge. I also agree that it is weird that one item out of the entire bunch (of the same items!) didn't get marked with "final sale" but the rest did- just weird!

On a bright note, it sounds like you totally scored an awesome price on those items!!! ;)

Melanie & FabulousFloridaMommy: Much like you Melanie, I pretty much wear flats 99% of the time. Just like you both (Melanie & FFM) I also prefer wide leg pants & a low waist to wear.

I also understand where you are coming from Melanie When it comes to J.Crew pants. I find that about 70% of the time, the regular length pants work with flats perfectly fine but the other 30% of the time, I need to wear some type of heels.

I find that most of the wide-leg pants from GAP (regular length) work great with flats. I also completely agree with FabulousFloridaMommy that GAP has some great pants to fit different shapes- hopefully you can try some on and see if they work for you. ;)

  100. So, after I had said that I would not buy anything-- I did. I saw the bunny-print Emily blouse in sour lemon. I had already purchased a polka-dot blouse in sour lemon (not on sale) earlier, but I really liked the print and the style of the Emily.

Anonymous with the 8 scarves-- great to hear your story! How is the cashmere? I have some of their cable-knit cashmere scarves, but I'm finding that over the year I've had mine, they tend to "roll up" around the edges... I'm not sure if it's because I have a funny way of wearing them, but I don't think so. Anyway, I think this speaks to the quality (already addressed before) on J. Crew cashmere... good job on your deals, though!

  101. I wasn't going to buy anything during the final sale but then caved and bought 8 items. I got the Phoebe Broadcloth dress for $89.99 (I'm sure it was cheaper a long time ago but I've been wanting one so I relented and got it), the Taffeta Rugby Skirt in Papaya, 2 Frances Blouses - one in Aqua and the other White, 2 long sleeve perfect tees (I just LOVE those Perfect Tees), the Cotton Argyle Sweater in the Navy and Ochre Colorway (which I have been dying for one since they were regular price and I finally got them for $39.99) and the Katie Striped Sweater which I have been calling daily since they sold out and have been kicking myself daily for not getting them sooner. I paid $29.99 for the Katie Sweater in the Sour Lemon. I had to pay for shipping but did use my 20% discount. I also got J Crew to waive the Final Sale on the Phoebe Dress and the Rugby skirt. I explained that they were expensive and that I have never tried them on and they did me a one time courtesy for me to return them if they didn't fit. It was very nice of them and I was just thrilled! I'm sure that I will keep them, I just need to make sure they fit. Afterall, I have been lusting after these items for at least 4 months now!

I did get a box from J Crew yesterday. I had purchased the Chessy Jacket but I'm going to be returning it. For some reason, it just does not look good on me. It looks awesome in the catalog but on me, I look like I have weak sloped shoulders and generally look dumpy in it. Does it fit like this on anyone else?

    ReplyDelete
  102. Audrey,
I am pretty sure that my lightweight cashwere scarves will “roll-up” around the edges eventually. I also believe that the “roll-up” has nothing to do with how you wear the scarf or what the material is. I have another style knitted scarf from jcrew—Wool-cashmere Torino (90456). The edge rolled up almost at my very first use. And I have 4 of them with different colors. All of them did the same. I also have 3 Cookie Striped Washed Wool scarves (90644) – not knitted from Jcrew. So far they stay flat very well. I have another knitted scarf from Ralph Lauren, which does not roll up at the edges. But it has double layers. My conclusion is the “roll-up” is caused by the way how the scarf is made. In the other words I think most of (if not all) the single layer knitted scarves would end up with this problem.

    ReplyDelete
  103. I've never bought anything from their "final sale" because even if it's something I've tried on, there still might be an issue with fitting, or any other problem. It's J.Crew's loss, too - if there was the option to return, I'd order a ton of stuff - and probably keep much of it. Instead, they get no business from me at all during this "final sale" lark.

    ReplyDelete
  104. I am fighting mad at the Crew right now - I ordered the Airy Ribbon Washed Favorite Tank before the final sale and it was canceled, now suddenly it's back in stock? I asked them to honor my original order for a non-final sale of the tank, we'll see what happens.

They also sent me the wrong headband with my order but that has been rectified.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Five Tomatoes: That is awful! I really don't understand how their "waitlisted" system works! Your situation (both the wrong item being sent and seeing a waitlisted item I ordered in stock without updating my order) has happened to me many, many times as well.

Hopefully they will honor your ability to return the item. :)

  106. WARNING: I don't review anything really cute or exciting...

My 'boxes' arrived & here's what I think of what I received:

-Posy-print twisted-placket shirt Item 91373 soft meadow: got in size 4 but usually wear size 6 (took a chance as size 6 was gone). Fit Perfect!Love this shirt.

-Beaded-stripe twisted-placket shirt Item 92067 Pink: bought in size 6 nice but need size smllr although it's supposedly "very fitted". Same style as Posy Print shirt & I noticed the size difference in the opening at the underarm. Will exchange for size 4.

-City-fit buttery twill cargo pant Item 93763 Soft Fuschia: same style as last years Ripstop Cargo's but different fabric. Fabric feels like rose petals (really!)...very nice. Material is very thin, buttons are gold plastic, & zipper seems lesser quality. Would keep them for lower price. Not a fan of full length pants on me in colors but had to see how these fit for when other colors go on sale. I'm returning but for some reason I'm having a hard time because they feel so darn good! Looking forward to trying City-fit buttery twill trouser based on other reviews at this blog.

-City-fit Madison stretch chino Item 85754: thought I'd try these after all great reviews & got them for $59.50 but in black. Awesome fit & feel but seem like a lint magnet (in dark colors).

    - Slub-cotton ball-trim cami Item 93922: love, love, love these in navy, bright azul, soft fuschia & green (grn store only).

-Solid track short Item 89618 & Solid hipster short Item 63585:
purchased these based on reviews read at this site but they don't work for me. I feel they make my thighs look wider as it's a straight line across the widest part of my thigh. (I wear Size 6 bottoms.)

-Long torso solid skinny-strap tank top Item 68332: purchased this in a 'Long torso' hoping it would bridge the gap between the top & the bottoms. Top fits excellent. Long torso is one inch longer than regular sized tank.

I'm 5'7, 130lbs & really carrying blubber from not exercising after giving birth. Blubber free still a size 6 bottom due to hip width.

Sorry so long just trying to be helpful. I really thought this is what the Kaboodle website was for but I've never seen anyone comment on their purchases. It looks like a bunch of wishlists. Kaboodle is a great site for old/new links to the crew!

Argh! but it's such a great jacket & I already paid $39.99 for it in Cababa Blue at the store. It's a great jacket & hits at the perfect lenght. (Plus I love the slub fabric!!!) I feel like such a Rebel! ;\

  108. Even though I don't like final sales,I caved this morning. I'd been eyeing the Emily blouse for months and when they had 3 different patterns in my size for $19.99 I couldn't pass them up. Got the bunny print in sour lemon, the striped in pink, and the swiss dot in navy. Plus a pair of navy shorts for $19.99, a Caterina blouse that was $19.99 and a pair of flip flops to get me over the $100 so I could get free shipping. All in all, I'm pleased with my purchase....just really hope this stuff fits OK when it gets here!

Just to also let you all know that J Crew now ships immediately - you can not cancel anytime even a few minutes after you order - I accidently did this with a final sale dress that I thought had not shipped and reordered with some new items and free shipping code - went to make sure origianl item was cancel when they said it had shipped already - as did also the items I had just ordered - all within in about 10 minutes. Now I'm stuck with an extra final sale item! Just know once you order you can't change your mind or cancel and be especially careful on final sale!

  111. Debra: I have experienced something similar which leads me to believe this may be not so true on their part, and perhaps another way to quickly get rid of the Final Sale Merchandise. I had placed an order on a Wednesday and called back early Thursday to add an item, as the status online still said "ready to ship". The CS rep informed me that my packages were "on the UPS truck" to leave that day. Anyways, I didn't receive my package until the next Wednesday, and according to the UPS tracking info...it never even started it's trip to me until Monday. Maybe the computer system told the rep that they've already shipped, but the actual UPS tracking info said something completely different.

  112. I know mine was at 5 a.m. Sunday morning so there was no way it was being shipped out right then (b/c I actually live in London-not just an early bird shopper!) - and Sat they were shut down all day including customer service line - so you would think they would have been a little more helpful.

  113. Debra & FabulousFloridaMommy: Thanks for letting us know about that. It seems weird that their system shows ordres being shipped so quickly when it seems obvious that it has not.

Debra, I am sure if you returned the item (explaining what happened) they would let you. :)

  114. Debra: I completely agree, especially since you are overseas...not sure what is going on now, but I know prior to this you had at least an hour or so to call and cancel...not the case, now.

  115. Oh - I order from them all the time- they don't ship here, I just pick it up when I travel to the US - so I thought I might try the store and see if they had any sympathy, but I got nowhere with customer service on the phone. If not - either I'll sell it on Ebay or just have a back up - it wasn't much cost - but it is just frustrating that they just changed their shipping process with no warning on the web that it can't be cancelled once the order is sent.

  116. I also had no idea about the price increase on final sale items - it always frustrates me when one day it's on sale and the next day final sale and no price drop - same price, but with no return policy!

  117. debra and alexis: I have a feeling it's all done that way now in order to really "move" the Final Sale items, especially since the prices on them are not really even that good. Like debra said: "one day it's on sale and the next day final sale and no price drop - same price, but with no return policy!" The Final Sale just isn't good this time without an extra 25 to 30% off, and then it's really only good on certain items.

  118. Debra & FabulousFloridaMommy: I agree that (1) the final sale isn't as good this time around- Maybe with an additional discount, but not too much and (2) the sale price situation frustrates me- one day it's less and returnable, the next day the item is priced higher and final sale.

  119. I just called the Orland Park, Ill., store and was told the extra 50 percent off has been extended through the weekend. I liked your reviews, Rach, and although I don't wish extra pounds on anyone, I'm glad I'm not the only one on this blog who feels a little poufy. Stewart
