Quick Note

Again, I want to thank everyone who has been visiting and contributing to this blog. Thank you!!! I can't say this enough, this blog is only great because of all the visitors. Everyone has been wonderful about sharing their tips and experiences with J.Crew. I know that I have personally benefited tremendously from others' comments posted on this blog. :)

I also want to state here that I hope Jagjag2 will come back in future conversations at this blog. She has been a fabulous contributor since the very beginning. Her insights can be found in every single post practically. So until she comes back, she will be missed by many (especially me!)

  1. NJN-160 worked this morning for free shipping over $100, but not sure when it expires...

  2. Hi Anonymous at 7:15AM! That code was suppose to expire 6/7/08, but since it doesn't and has the lowest min out there right now (of $100+) that is fantastic! Thanks for letting us know it still works. :)

  3. That's great...though I have to admit that I have not purchased anything during this sale, even with the $100 minimum...there ARE a few items I would like to have and would have purchased with a free shipping code, but just didn't see even paying the $100 for items that I can live without. Funny...I've realized that I can "live without" ALOT more now that the free shipping is gone.

  4. Forgot to add that now I know that the store will do price matching to the online prices...it makes paying for shipping even LESS desirable than it was before! I am hoping that when I go into the store tomorrow, they will have a couple of the items I have had in my shopping bag this week for the same price or less, and if not...I will ask for the price match on them. :)

  5. FabulousFloridaMommy: I totally agree that without the free shipping with no minimum codes, I re-look at what I "need" and don't. I didn't know that J.Crew stores matched online prices either until the other post. I am thrilled about that too! :)

  7. Fantastic FabulousFloridaMommy! Thank you so much, I really appreciate the "heads up!" I will make sure to spread the word. :)

  8. Thanks Jennifer! It is always great to hear from another J.Crew Aficionada.

The really great insights on this blog comes directly from the visitors! :)

  9. Hi Alexis,

First, thanks for the free shipping on $100 tip, I just took advantage of that. Second, I purchased a couple of things in the sale section and am a bit worried about one of them (haley dress), as the length of the dress is not mentioned. Do you know if these are final sales and not returnable? Thanks for this website, it has been a terrific and invaluable resource for coupons and tips. Keep up the great work!

  10. Hi Lou! The sale section right now is *not* final sale. So feel free to return the items purchased. The only thing you might lose is the cost of shipping, but you used the coupon so it sounds like you are fine.

Also, a great tip that I learned from one of the visitors here is that you can call or email J.Crew with the item number & size and request the item's specific length. (Make sure you include the size you are interested in, because the size of the dress can vary the length).

    Good luck!:)

  11. I will say that sometimes J. Crew's wonky sizing makes it pretty easy for me to get up to those high free shipping minimums since I end up ordering the same thing in two sizes. I'm glad I have a J. Crew nearby or I probably wouldn't order anything because of shipping costs and the return shipping!

  12. P.S. I also hope JagJag2 comes back! Please don't let simple miscommunication spoil your fun! You were such a great contributor and are missed already.

Overall, I think this blog has very understanding contributors and readers. I've seen other internet forums that are not so nice to people and who are quick to pounce on people for mistakes and say much harsher things than 'anonymous' did in the other post. I hope JagJag2 comes back because, in addition to being an amazing contributor, if we start to take the comments of others too seriously without knowing their true tone, we run the risk of everyone not feeling free to speak their minds.

For example, when I was discussing how disappointed I was about the Masako dress and JagJag2 piped up, saying she thought it was rude of people to hold onto items and prevent others from buying them, I at first thought she meant it as a personal jab on how I shop at J. Crew. Then I waited a few minutes before responding and realized she probably just meant it as a comment in general. If I hadn't waited those 5 minutes to answer, I might have said something I would have later regretted!

  13. Melanie,

Personally, when I read those comments form jj2, I thought they were critical of you as well and felt badly for you. But at that time, I refrained from saying so. Sorry. I will definitely learn from your restraint and understanding and do the same in the future.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Melanie: I think it is great that you make the minimums on free shipping, while getting the item in the right size. :) It is actually a very smart thing to do!

I also think you make an excellent point. :) We all need to take a moment to think about how we are interpreting others comments and how we want our comments to be taken.

It is especially difficult in writing to express what you want to say. That is probably why I end so many sentences with smiley faces, to convey a lighter mood. :)

  15. I have been reading the posts on here for awhile, and LOVE this blog! Great job Alexis. I have yet to post and can't figure out how to get an account to sign in, but had to comment on this whole issue with jagjag2.

I must say that jj2 has posted numerous rude comments and personal attacks, yet noone she did it to responded back, nor did they throw a "tantrum" and leave like she did. I can't believe that there are people begging her to come back, as if she is some martyr. JagJag2 is acting like a school girl who didn't get her way, and I wish we could stop talking about her and move on. If she wants to come back she will, but please stop begging her.

Shannon from CA (just so jj2 doesn't think I'm hiding behind the anonymous)

  16. Anonymous at 12:36PM (aka Shannon from CA): First, thanks for the nice comments about the blog itself. :)

Also, signing up with Blogger can be a pain (i.e. hassle) so that is why I enabled the "Anonymous" posting feature (to make it as easy as possible for people to discuss & share). So please feel free to post as Anonymous (as long as you are posting!) :)

Lastly, I understand where you are coming from with the whole Jagjag2 situation.

I personally believe there was a miscommunication / misinterpretation in the posts that caused the bit of tension. It is really difficult to tell sometimes the tone of some of the comments.

Ultimately, I don't want anyone to leave. I am a bit selfish in that I would like everyone to get along, discuss, and share. :)

  17. Anonymous, I find your comment really mature. On several occasions, you have noticed JJ2's negativity and yet you still promise to make an effort to understand where the other person is coming from before jumping to conclusions.

I will have to agree with Shannon from CA - some comments were made / interpreted in a way that maybe should not be but we all still return to this forum to collaborate and share without throwing tantrums. If she was sincere in not returning, that is her certainly prerogative and I hope she isn't just sitting on the computer, reading our comments and refusing to comment.

  18. Alexis:

Will you be planning on reformatting the blog so it will be easier to find old posts? The default date-grouping makes it hard to go back and look up something you previously posted.

No rush, and no biggie if you don't. I was just wondering.

    Thanks :o)

  19. Hi Sue.Bee! In another post, it was suggested to rearrange the posts by theme (which I thought was a great idea!) I looked into it and unfortunately, I have no idea how to do that through Blogger. (This is the first blog I have ever sponsored, so I am a bit new to this all).

I have also found it really annoying that the blog search will only search the text of the posts but not the text of the comments. I find most of the juicy/valuable insights are from the comments.

But I will definitely continue to look into the posting by theme. I may do something manually. :)

  20. Incidentally, if anyone knows how I can group posts by theme on the sidebar of this blog, I would really appreciate your help. Any guidance would be great! :)

  21. Alexis:

    Try this link

I think it might help you in grouping/sorting posts by theme/topic.

  22. Thanks Sue.Bee! I am reading about it right now. :)

  23. Hi Sue.Bee! I think the link you sent me only lists the titles but doesn't group the titles by category (I hope what I wrote makes sense).
Although the link didn't show what I was hoping to do, it did give me great advice! :) It showed me how to change the postings from daily to monthly. Now on the right hand side, when you click on a month, all the titles of that month appear (as oppose to clicking on each day) making it a bit easier to see what is posted. Thank you so much Sue.Bee for the link again! I really appreciate it. :O)

  24. Ah, makes sense. Hopefully you'll still be able to figure something out! I'll dig around some more and see if I can't find something better.

As for searching comments I don't think that feature is currently available in Blogger. But I did find this link that you still might be able to use
    http://help.blogger.com/bin/answer.py?hl=en-uk&answer=42522
You can show "recent comments" in the sidebar (more like which posts have been recently commented on and by whom).

  25. Hi Sue.Bee: Thanks again! You have been super-helpful with all of this. I really do appreciate it. :)

  26. Shannon fr CA,

I just want to thank you so much for your post. I was so relieved to read that I wasn't the only person here who noticed that JJ2 was less than polite on more than one occasion. I was beginning to wonder whether I was reading the same things everyone else was reading! Thanks again!

Alexis: I really love this blog, and I credit you with how much fun its been. This has quickly a regular part of my routine.

However, I have to ask with regard to the JJ2 situation, how do you misinterpret the use of 'OBVIOUSLY' in the context in which it was written? Although some things can be misinterpreted in a written format such as this, I honestly don't think that that applies in this situation. But like you said, everyone is entitled to their opinion! :) Thanks again.

  27. Hi Anonymous at 6:56PM! Thanks for the nice comment- I really do appreciate it. But again, I have to really credit the visitors with their insightful views (that makes this such a great place.) ;o)

I think you are also spot on with everyone is entitled to an opinion, and hopefully everyone here feels comfortable to express it. I really like how this forum is a place where we can freely discuss J.Crew. :)

  28. It is Saturday, June 14 and NJN-160 still worked for me. I just purchased the Bunny Print Emily blouse (thanks to all your wonderful comments!!), overdyed cropped matchstick jeans in NECTARINE (I'll let all of you know how loud these are...lol!) the metallic linen tunic to go with the nectarine jeans and the coral and shell beaded necklace Whew. Oh yes, I also got the rumpled french terry hoodie and shell 3" chino shorts...now if I could just find the metallic tank in my size (which is a 0). Have a great day everyone!! :)

  29. Thanks Anonymous at 8:03 AM for letting us know that the code still works. It also looks like you have done pretty well in the sale. Congrats on all your great finds! :)

  30. I am so excited to find this site! It was mentioned in another of my favorite blogs....The Purse Forum. I am a huge J Crew...currently living in all the light summer dresses!!!!

  31. "Obviously" was not meant in a bad way...I meant I must not have been making myself clear...too many negative people on this blog...why assume something is negative?...the written word does not allow for people to see the tone of the email and I meant it as "I" was not making myself clear...

Dear J.Crew Aficionadas & Aficionados: Please feel free (and encouraged) to share your thoughts and opinions. :) However, please note that this is still a personal blog. So comments that are considered inappropriate (e.g. obscene, racist, homophobic, personal attacks, rude, and just plain mean) will be removed.

And now back to J.Crew! :)
