"Looking to VENT" with J.Crew

This is the weekly "Looking to VENT with J.Crew" post, a place to share our not-so-stellar experiences with J.Crew.

If you have recently experienced a frustrating situation with J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including poor experiences with purchases & orders, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. Not really a vent but hoping to score the enamel ring in maybe that pink/burgundy color. All sizes in three colors are sold out. I hope it's just a glitch in their system, hoping it will magically restock again.

    1. They are still receiving shipments from overseas. I wanted the ruffle navy jacket, and it was sold out in most sizes. As I was contacting my VPS to keep an eye out for one for me, a shipment arrived THAT DAY and all sizes were in stock again (last Friday), so don't give up! I'd contact a VPS and have them look around for one for you.

    2. I saw a couple of rings at my local store that a customer had just returned. They are out there.

  2. The Pink Rhodes Blazer in Petite was gone in a flash! It's not even on the web site any longer. When I called Customer Service to see when they would have more they said October! Yikes....while time flies by, that seems like a long time away.

  3. Wanting the crewcuts Paris tee in a 16 (for a gift! for a gift!), and as best I can tell it was sold out before it hit the site. On some days it can be added th Wishlst, on others, not. Does anyone know what's happening here?

    1. wellfedfred, I'm as well looking for the Paris tee-shirt, I'm looking for me. I have a SA at the B&M store downtown looking, as well as the SA at the clearance store. When, not if, we find it, I'll get two.

  4. This is not a vent. I picked up the Sammie chino in polka dot today that are now on sale. In store, they were 40% off $59.99 and they also let me use my 15% bounceback card that is good through the end of the year. They were right at $30.00. I think they are pretty cute and I think I will get a lot of wear out of them. I also ordered a back up pair of the white billie jeans that went on sale and got the same discounts. Pretty happy about both of these. I really like the Billie jean and I wanted a back up in white.

    2. What is the rise like on the Sammie chinos? I haven't gotten around to trying them on yet. Thanks!

    3. I would say slightly high. I am high waisted so I like the higher rise.

  5. This is more of a frustration than a vent. The lady helping me in store was, as usual, extremely friendly and helpful, but she wasn't able to resolve the issue as the online help wasn't able to tell her how. I tried to use one of my gift cards from a Christmas a couple years ago today, as I had been saving it for "unnecessary" purchases and kind of forgot about it. I had used part of the balance but still had over $124 left on it. When I went to pay, it was showing her the balance, but the card wasn't working, giving the error message of invalid PIN or something. The lady helping me called online support and was informed that you can no longer use US Jcrew gift cards in Canada, despite the fact that this card was purchased online and shipped here to Canada (presumably to be used IN Canada). I was curious to see if it would work in the US, so when I got home, I tried to enter the card # to ship something to the US (I wasn't going to complete the order) and it still says invalid card/PIN. I am really frustrated and concerned that my $124 dollars are lost! I suppose I have to wait until I am visiting the US next to see if it works, but I am really frustrated that this can't be rectified before then! Has anyone had this issue and if so, do you know how to resolve it?

    1. That's absurd! You shouldn't have to visit the US just to use this thing! Even if they're not allowing CDN shoppers to use US cards, I don't understand why they can't reissue you a new card with a comparable exchangein CDN dollars, at the very least. (In terms of purchasing power, I don't know if that's not a good idea, but what if you simply didn't get a chance to visit the States?) I wish I had more helpful advice to offer, but I would suggest you email Customer Service -- perhaps they have a little more time to look into this for you. So frustrating. Good luck!

    2. I just used a cdn dollar gift card in a US store on Aug. 1, it automatically converted the exchange when the store swiped it. Things must have changed in the past couple of weeks?
If you have a US address to ship to(I have used UPS stores but I live near the border) I'd try ordering on the phone so maybe they could input the gift card. $124 US is a lot to lose so I'd say don't give up and if nothing works then email Mr Drexlers address.

    3. Gap/Banana gift cards can be used in US or Canada, I don't see why J.Crew couldn't do this as well. I hope CS was able to straighten things out for you.

  6. I recently placed two online orders for 12 total items. EVERY. SINGLE. ITEM. has shipped in a separate box or bag. My UPS man probably thinks I have lost my mind ordering so much. How is this not costing J. Crew a fortune in shipping costs??
