Sought & Found: Did you visit J.Crew this {past} Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopped by a J.Crew store this past weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store was/ is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

  1. I did visit the clearance store as I had mentioned on Friday. I need some help. I bought the Gemma marble print ballets but I need some suggestions for what to wear them with. I loved this print so much but have only ended up with the shoes. I feel like they look more spring than fall.

    1. Doodle Dachshund - I would focus on the navy/black color and the streak of cobalt if you're trying to work them into the fall. If I owned them, I would try tan with them, in some capacity. Could work.

    2. Thanks. I did try them with broken in boyfriend chino and I did like the color combo with the tan. I do think the cobalt blue would look nice. I think they will be great next spring with blue stripe, denim, white, black, etc.

  2. I needed to run errands yesterday, so I took the opportunity to visit a nearby regular store. I've been wanting to try some items on for fit.

Bought two Tippis, (E1277 in Heather neon orchid and E2368, the one with lace detail in the tan color), each was 25%. I've a relatively new shopper to J. Crew so I'm not familiar with some of the older items that I know many of you love (reviews seem to mention that this Tippi isn't as nice as the previous models, but for my purposes, I'm really pleased with both of these items.)

I also purchased a pair of Matchstick jeans (E0070) in Preston Wash. Again, i've never purchased this model before so not sure how they compare in quality and fit to older models. My fave thing about this pair is the color, as it's different than any of my other pairs, which tend to be darker washes. The jeans were also 25% off in store. The pair i tried on didn't fit me so I asked for a size down and purchased THAT pair without trying them on. When I got home I found them to be too tight, so will return and consider ordering online in Petite (in a bigger size).

Lastly, I'd been eyeing the Bright Calf Hair belt (E2337) and these were also 25%. Grabbed what i thought was my usual size but again, got home and found that it's too big so will need to exchange.

In any case, I know many of you guys are seasoned JCAs and I'm trying to learn some of your ways! This is a really helpful and fun blog. :-)

    1. TM93 - Welcome! I would try on a couple pair of jeans in the same size. Each pair tend to vary. Also, don't be afraid to ask a sales associate what the best size is. I am 5'0" and have always purchased the regular size. The slightly smaller proportions of the petite don't work for me in all cases.

Audreybella recently tried on the patio pants and one leg was shorter than the other, as seen on Life Is Short Buy the Shoes.. So yeah, multiple tries in the same size can be worth the effort.

    3. Gigi!! Thanks so much for that advice!! That makes sense because I did try on two different sizes of Matchsticks, in two different colors. The same size that fit me in the black color did not fit me in the PWA color, strangely enough, so I will return to the store and ask for another pair in the same size.

I'm 4'11 and I feel exactly as you do re) Regular sizes -- the petites hardly ever work for me, especially in tops. (PS, i've started following your blog as well & i really enjoy your reviews!!)

  3. No store visit, but did find myself scratching my head this weekend when I received the cotton no. 2 pencil skirt in "snow" -- which is not the bright, cool-toned white I'd expected, but rather is a creamy custard-yellow. (Reminds me of a t-shirt my brother had, with a cartoon dog saying "don't eat the yellow snow".) Nice skirt otherwise and only $20, but I really wish color names would be more accurate.

  4. As I was in the US for the weekend, I stopped into 2 J Crew stores. They both had limited merchandise, similar to what i found in my local store, so I was disappointed. I mentioned to the SA at the first store that I don't understand why JCrew puts big posters featuring items that are not available in most stores.

So I just bought the pailette necklace and patio pants in burgundy as both were on promo and I got the $25 gift card. At the second store I had a really hard time finding anything I wanted to use that card to purchase! The silk v neck blouse is nice, but none of the colours appealed to me. I ended up with one of the slouchy turtlenecks because I love the one from last year and wore them a lot all winter.

Not a spectacular result, but I got better prices than in Canada.

I also picked up a few sale items at Madewell and many wonderful and stunning pieces at Anthro.
