This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale
items at our
various local J.Crew stores. ;)
If
you are stopping
by a J.Crew store this weekend to see
what's available (if
anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in
person, maybe you might be
willing to share that with us in this
post. In particular, if you could
share with us a few of the
noteworthy items that are available, at
what prices, and potential sizes
the store is carrying (as well
as the store location)- that would be
fantastic!
Also,
please let us know if your local store is
carrying an additional percent
off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)
P.S.
I noticed that many of
you have already been reporting sale
items (and in which stores) in
other posts which by the way "thank
you!" :) I really appreciate how
helpful we are for each other!
ReplyDeleteI will probably be going.
Some reviews here.
I got to a B&M yesterday and tried a couple of things:
ReplyDeleteToothpick jeans in flint wash (e0007) - Despite the poly content, I thought these were nice. Reminded me of my midrise toothpicks from a few years back which are some of my all-time favorites. My regular 28 was the right fit (I’ve had to size up in toothpicks before they changed last year).
Martie pant (b8521) - What? No! Couldn’t even zip them in my regular size, but the knees and calves felt baggy. I can’t believe they’re trying to pass these off as a full-length Minnie. Definitely try on in-store if you can…saved me a return.
Structured flutter-hem T-shirt (c0770) - I thought this one was super cute and TTS (from the reviews online, it looks like there was a fit issue with an older version). Feels like ponte and the peplum worked well on my short-waisted self.
Classic v-neck sweater (E1278) - Boxy and hanging off the shoulders in my usual size, I agree with Ina to size down in this one. I like the heather camel, but am worried about the pill factor on this one (95% cotton/5% cashmere). I had a couple of cotton-cashmere Jackies from back in the day (’07-08) that held up nicely. Will keep an eye on this one to see if I can grab it on sale.
Thanks for the reviews! I have a question about the V-neck cardi(E1278). On-line it says that it is merino wool/cashmere. Did the label show that it is cotton/cashmere?
DeleteHi maryeb - I totally screwed up that review (too much multitasking, not enough coffee!). It's a 95% merino/5% cashmere blend, not cotton/cashmere. And a cardigan, not a V-neck! : )
Delete@silver_lining. Glad you like the toothpick in flintwash! They are my fave:)
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteI love the V-neck cardigan! It's so soft, just the right weight (not too thick) and just perfect for fall/winter. I have 6 colors now....just added the gorgeous garnet color. I own black, grey, camel, rusty sienna, olive and garnet. It's one of my favorite J. Crew purchases. When I like something I always buy multiple colors.
DeleteNo problem, @silver_lining. Thanks for clarifying.
DeleteThanks for the additional info, Stray Cat. I was on the fence about ordering one of these cardis, you pushed me right off :) Do you hand wash yours? I'm wondering how they will do with washing vs dry cleaning.
I received the three v-neck cardigans (E1278) I ordered and am very disappointed to find they are the old dream blend of 55% wool, 30% nylon and 15% cashmere. Yuck! I love the colors - got the heather loden, navy and heather pewter. But I won't even try them on in this blend. I was really excited about a basic cardigan in just merino and cashmere but it's not the case with this one.
DeleteHi Flash (aside, I'll be singing "Flash! Aaahhhh!" all day now) - I'm bummed to hear that these are dream blend. Probably the only thing I dislike more than exposed zippers.
Deletesilver_lining...I thought I read somewhere that these were 95wool/5cashmere, too. Are you saying you saw that on the label of the one you tried on in the store? And Flash, you said the ones you ordered had a different label?? I'm confused! LOL I was really hoping these were wool and cashmere! Can you help clarify? Thanks!
DeleteHi Headshot - I quickly glanced at the tag in store and could have sworn it was 95/5 (because I would've come right in here to complain if it were dream yarn, ha!) but I'm not totally certain. Hopefully somebody that goes to a B&M this weekend can weigh in!
DeleteThanks, silver_lining! I ordered the sweater in the garnet color, so I will check it out when it arrives. I'm so hopeful that it is wool/cashmere. I don't know why they wouldn't list all the materials on the website when they do it for other items. Thanks again!

DeleteThat sweater had the blend with wool cashmere and nylon last year and it was a hot mess!! Pilled like crazy. I bought two- wore each about three times and then sent them to goodwill. You couldnt de-pill them enough. Hope they upgraded this year.
DeleteJC is known for fudging the fiber descriptions on the website. Remember when someone ordered the "wool with a touch of stretch" dress and it turned out to be 55% poly 45% wool? Listing the 30% nylon dream yarn as "merino/wool" is classic JC.
DeleteI wanted to know myself so I emailed cs, and it is definitely the blend that Flash stated (not that I doubted you). They said they would try to get the full fabric content in the description. They do this all them time with their jeans (stating that they are cotton with a hint of stretch when they also contain polyester) and it's so annoying!
DeleteI can also confirm that the "Classic V-neck cardigan sweater," item e1278 on the website, is the 55% wool, 30% nylon, 15% cashmere blend. Ordered it last week and it arrived super-fast, but I was so disappointed that I wrote a review of the item on the website complaining about the misinformation, and at least I heard from CS that they will waive return shipping fees on the item for me. Would have been a great sweater w/o the nylon yarn!
DeleteThanks for all the feedback, ladies! IME, that blend gets so raggedy so quickly that I swore it off completely. Bummer, but you saved me the hassle of a return. Love this community. : )
DeleteThanks for the info, everyone. I was excited about the reintroduction of the heather loden color, but *every* women's item in that sweater color is made of that "dream knit". I was burned on a jalapeno cardigan years ago and that dream knit was terrible for me - pilled like crazy (and I rotate my sweaters frequently!). Hope they find another blend for the color, because the shade of green is lovely.
DeleteSilver lining.....I agree Martie pants fit horrendous!! Awful awful...I tried them and same as you baggy legs and had to go a few sizes up and the dug in awkwardly in the stomach...I love the Minnie though...They need to shift focus back to those instead of pushing awful Martie :(
DeleteI have a silly question but I keep reading B&M and I don't know what it means. Can someone please fill me in? It sounds like the store but what does it stand for?
ReplyDeleteThere's just three things on my wishlist and I'm waiting for another 30% off promo to bite. What's weird is that one of them, the wool regent for $198 that comes in lots of colors was in the promo and then late last night and today it's now excluded. Go figure!
Hi Loren - B&M stands for brick and mortar. You're right in that it's just an acronym for going into the store.
DeleteThank you silver_lining for solving that mystery for me! Now what does brick and mortar mean? jk lol, but really I don't know lol. Like the structure of the store is brick and mortar as opposed to online shopping? I really know how to beat a dead horse asking question upon question lol.
DeleteIs the V-neck sweater that you tried on the one that they have paired with the lace pencil in the catalog? I love that pairing of lady like lace pencil with a more masculine piece like the sweater.
Yeah, the brick and mortar is used to build the physical store as opposed to the digital online store. I think people started using B&M when online shopping became more popular and people had to differentiate between that and going to the mall.
DeleteMy bad, I should've written V-neck cardigan (wish I could edit!). I tried on the cardigan in store. The one that's paired with the lace pencil is a cashmere V, I think.
Check out this article about Jcrew's FW showing. Egypto, is that your comment quoted? http://www.racked.com/2015/9/18/9351627/jcrew-nyfw-spring-2016-criticism
ReplyDeleteThat is! Feeling Internet famous now. lol. Thing is, I rarely comment anymore because I've started moving away from j crew lately for those very reasons.
DeleteI just took a look at he pics of J. Crew Spring 2016. I actually like a couple things. But I don't see anything that makes me think of "retro" J. Crew....isn't that what they were telling us would be the direction? Also it really makes me mad when something that is a classic is so overused (gingham....I'm looking at you, but it's not your fault) that it turns into a huge trend and it's everywhere you look and then I can't stand looking at it and I definitely don't want to wear it because it's so trendy. I hope that makes sense.
DeleteNot a fan of the NYFW presentation either, but then again I didn't like most of their stuff at their Fall 2015 presentation and I'm loving what I see in stores right now...so hopefully this is just the most editorial, least literal translation of what we'll see come Spring 2016.
DeleteGreat to see your post, egyptomaniac. I relate to so much of your shopping perspective.
DeleteOff topic - I was reading the October In Style magazine and the featured the fall 2015 runway skirt that is chartreuse triangle pattern, with the a line and slit in front and tie at waist. $595!
ReplyDeleteIt's the skirt in look 8 in this slideshow - http://www.vogue.com/fashion-shows/fall-2015-ready-to-wear/j-crew/slideshow/collection#8
DeleteI saw the same skirt pictured in a what to wear to work segment in Glamour (or Elle, I can't remember). It's a nice looking skirt, but not for that price!
DeleteIf anyone tries on the Collection Leavers lace cropped pants, (e2346)could they please comment on fit and quality. They seem very pricey and I wasn't sure of the bulkiness with pleats and pockets. Thanks
ReplyDeleteCan anyone tell me the difference between the Regent,Rhodes and Campbell blazers? Imay check them out at 25% off but still kind f priecy
ReplyDeleteThe Regent is the blazer with the stand up collar and it has one button. The Campbell is a new blazer this season. It has a traditional notch collar, one button closure and two bottom pockets that don't have flaps and one chest handkerchief pocket. These both are supposed to be worn fitted and tailored. I don't have a Rhodes blazer (it's their newest blazer) so don't know how it fits. It looks like it has two bottom flap pockets and a chest pocket, notch collar and gold buttons that haven't been received favorably by many according to this site and some reviews I've read.
DeleteYou can see them here lined up side by side, helps to compare visually.
Deletehttps://www.jcrew.com/womens_feature/TheAlwaysList_sm.jsp
It seems they have excluded all the blazers from the promotion now. I guess I got lucky and got mine before they figured out their error.
DeleteUgh, was about to bite on the Campbell blazer in tweed last night, but decided to sleep on it. Woke up this morning to suddenly find that it's "excluded from promo," when it wasn't yesterday. Might stop by my local store to see if they have it in stock and part of the 25% off deal.
ReplyDeleteThat's weird. I stopped in the store on Wednesday and bought the Campbell blazer. It did not ring up on sale. But I asked the s/a to check online and IT DID qualify for the 25% off online and she honored it. I would definitely go to the store and ask.
Delete@AmyFreeman--The SAME thing happened to me. I put the Campbell blazer on hold and was going to pick it up today. It was excluded from the promo as of today. I called my store and explained what was going on and they honored the promo on the blazer. J Crew is sneaky! I would call and ask if they can give you a one time courtesy. If the Campbell was excluded from the get go; like the Rhodes blazer then I have no gripes. But it's inconsistent to have something on promo and then excluded a few days later. Anyway, good luck.
DeleteI was considering buying the herringbone Rhodes, but all this news about pricing issues (games?) is very off putting.
Delete@straycat the Rhodes was not included in the promo from the start. I was eyeing that blazer too when the rollout came out on Tuesday. But had "excluded from promo" in red letters.
DeleteI had the same experience Amy! The regent blazer I was interested in was included in the promo this round and then was excluded randomly last night and remains to be so. Eh, it's fun to obsess right? lol I know that campbel tweed blazer you're referring to, I love that it has a matching skirt and really nice buttons. Would you wear it with the skirt? I wish they had skirt options for all the blazers they make. My coloring goes more with the tweed regent they have out now, coral multi I think it is called, but that one doesn't have a matching skirt. Last year I got the Amber Olive Multi regent and zip pencil skirt, never wore it together but I like that option if I choose to down the line for a more conservative dressy look.
ReplyDeleteSo many sales games they play!
ReplyDeleteHi Lori! Have a nice weekend! I got that pink sorbet pencil skirt and I think of you and how you are pairing with the ivory sweater lol. I was going to make an 80's look and pair it with a purply grape color wool flannel schoolboy with gold buttons from 2012 and a white button down shirt. My husband liked the way the purple blazer looked next to the tangy olive skirt better. It's too hot in NY to wear any of it yet though lol.
ReplyDeleteI received my "new arrivals" order today. The only LOVE item is the classic full length pants in the windowpane plaid. I ordered the petite 2 and they are still pretty long on me. The fit is a little tighter through the hips than the model shot. I wish they fit me a little looser. I may re-order a petite 4 instead. These pants are 70% wool and 30% polyester (boo), but they are fully lined. I love the pattern, the flat front, the side zip and the full length. Keeping, except possibly exchanging for a size up.
ReplyDeleteI am on the fence about the plush fleece teddy jacket. I sized way down, but I still feel like a bear. I have enough coats, so I think it will go back.
The patchwork cargo pants, which look so cute on the model, make my short self look frumpy and terrible. I will not be able to pull them off so that they look like anything other than frumpy, old cargo pants. I don't even know why I bother (I know my legs are short and athletic, and I'm always roped in by the way the model looks in something.)
The wool scarf in the orchid smoke color is pretty, but not nearly as soft as it looks on screen (why does it look soft? I don't know, but it does). I can do better and so back it goes.
Not a new arrival, but the collection calf hair strappy sandals are cool and a cool color, but the strap doesn't lay right on my very wide foot. I really wish these worked, but they are not great on my foot.
I also ordered the Point Sur Vintage Patch Pocket Cropped Jeans, but I think I have to admit that J. Crew jeans are not for me. I don't love the color of these and there's too much wiskering around the knees. Size up in these if you are interested.
I also was in the store today and I like the colors in the cobalt leopard, but I don't personally think I'll wear anything in that print. I thought the store looked great, though. The colors were all very rich, fall-like colors.
Thanks for the reviews! and this part:
Delete(I know my legs are short and athletic, and I'm always roped in by the way the model looks in something.)'
As a fellow petite, I know exactly what you mean!!! I make the same mistake. I'm currently waiting on the Matchstick Cords b/c I really liked the Fatigue color, curious what they'll end up like on my athletic little legs.
Did I see that there are a pair of LINED pants!!! Yes please!
DeleteWent by the store at lunch today. Left empty handed again. Almost bought the washed lame pull on pant on sale but couldn't quite pull the trigger. Anyone have any input on those?
ReplyDeleteDoodle Dachshund - I reviewed the lamé pants in this post. They remind me of a pair of silk pants from a few years ago and i have side-by-side pics.
DeleteI bought the green , which were online only. I returned them last week and haven't regretted it. I think the material was just a bit too shiny, which is why I didn't like the lighter color on me. At least not with those longer pockets. They don't work on everyone and the color fabric they're stitched on makes a difference, too. That said, I think either color would make a nice holiday pant depending on temps in your area.
Thanks. I had actually read your review (as I always do). You have awesome reviews!
DeleteMadewell reviews on Gigi's Gone Shopping, in case you're going or thinking of ordering. Pics including a cozy, flannel dress that I bought and some text reviews, too. Tiered promo WINWIN gets 20-30% off thru Mon, 9/21.
ReplyDeleteWent to the vancouver Robison street store. I was disappointed because they hardly had anything from the new rollout. According to the sales associate the new items are in the back being processed. They told me that most everything would be on the floor Sunday. I did try on and buy the cobalt leopard silk top. I thought the colours were lovely and perfect for fall. I plan on wearing this with a leather a-line skirt and also think it will look great with jeans. I tried on the Jackie shell and cardigan in merino wool and was not impressed - very thin wool and I thought an odd short fit. I also thought the gold buttons looked out of place. I tried the donegal tweed pencil skirt. Loved it but needed to size down and that was one of the new items that they were in the midst of getting on the floor and the other size was still waiting to be processed so not available to try on.
ReplyDeleteFor my fellow Canadians I also noticed the continuing price difference from online. For example the cobalt leap lard silk top is 160$ online (plus the 25% off promo). In store the blouse was 127$ plus the 25% off.
Thanks for the Vancouver update......whats with the still unpacking Sa's !
DeleteNot surprised about the prices....and very unhappy. I will have to wait until another round of 40% off before I purchase. Our store never seem to get many of the winter coats ...hope this is different this year,
As for the new jewellery....makes me wish I had purchased more a few years back. can't stand the new stuff. Maybe next roll out will be better
I am also unimpressed with the difference between the online prices and in the instore prices.
DeleteI wanted the Bowery slim wool chalk stripe in navy #C8754 but it was $226 online. In the store it was $178. With the 30% off discount the pant came to $124.60. Glad I called the store and had it sent out to me.
With the price differences I'm not buying anything online unless it's heavily discounted. Anything else I must have will come from a call to a store or more shopping at Club Monaco. The mens' line at Club is great and I'm finding I buy more and more from them.
I went to the store in Ottawa and was very disappointed with the selection. When the store first opened it seemed larger than others in Canada but now that they replaced one part with crew cuts, there is less women's merchandise, and almost none of the items I was interested in trying. With the inflated online prices, I am very discouraged and almost angry at the lack of choice and access that I want to give up on J Crew. Ironic that now I finally have a local store that I'm not buying much when I used to want to buy everything they offered! Not impressed with their quality lately and have bought only about 10% of what I've bought in previous years.
DeleteOttawa is my closest store and I too def noticed the smaller sale section and women's items since Crewcuts entered. Ottawa is a really nice store though. I also find that when I go to stores searching for items that I like they don't seem to have them. Add the online only pieces and it's very frustrating. I am especially wary of online only because the Canadian prices are unfair as you all have mentioned in this thread.
DeleteJcrew guy and Shima Maceo - I'm glad to hear you got better deals in store. I bought the Marble Print top in store before it went on sale because it was $33 less in store than online. When I compare the US prices to cdn online prices for some items that I like I'm seeing 50% and higher markups so that is a good deterrent to keep me from buying online.
RIBBED BOATNECK TUNIC
Deleteitem e1382 is 113$ regular in Canada at B&Ms. Then they take 25% off the 113$ for the current promo. Same item online for Canada is 143.00 regular (now 133$) before the 25% off promo. Why are they doing this to the Canadian consumer?
Went in to my store with every intention of spending a silly amount as a birthday gift to myself and walked out with a lookout that I'm pretty sure isn't even new (Wallace wash) and a tippi from the FP section and a 3" chino from clearance. Go figure. Again took a 26 in the lookouts. I am really all over the place in sizing. Have another pair in 24 that fits like a dream; 26 too big in the waist but fits my thighs so with that one I go. Should have just saved my money and went to Madewell, probably, but I *am* happy with everything I picked up. Tried on several new items and just couldn't like any of them. Particularly disappointed by that olive and navy striped shirt - nice and thick, but too tight in the shoulders in my normal XXS, too boxy in XS. Oh well.
ReplyDeleteyes, I was so excited about that striped shirt (I'm assuming you mean c9625), but the fit was sooo bad. Too short, body too wide, sleeve WAY too short on me (I'm tall and used to sleeves being a tad short but these just looked comical). Such a bummer because the fabric was very nice and substantial (for a change). Very unflattering when it was on. Seems like it would be hard to mess up a nice, basic striped top but they really seemed to.
DeleteOh shoot! I really liked the color combo on that shirt. Can't they get a simple t-shirt right!? I'm tall (so if it's short I won't like it) and I always have issues with the shoulders/arms on things, so that probably won't work for me either. Dang!
DeleteIt is a bit of a shrunken fit (olive striped shirt), I agree.
DeleteYou're not missing much at Madewell either, though. I usually like Madewell a lot but have not been too interested in what they have there lately.
Maybe they'll improve it at factory next year!
DeleteI've been eyeing that tshirt too. I hate tight arms! The painter tees always do that to me.
DeleteI just checked it out in the store. It's so cute....but as you have all said....boxy, very short and well.....not flattering at all. I always let the s/a's know what I think...in a nice way...and I hope they pass on the info. I would have bought it ...dang. I'd love to see them do a better style in the same color combo.
DeleteOK, glad it wasn't just me! I have a shorter torso so I can usually get away with boxy stuff, too. I usually size up in the painter tees and am fine, so that was my thinking, but no.
DeleteI'm going! I have to make a return but for the first time I noticed on the sales' receipt that stores won't accept a return unless made within 30 days but the invoice in the mail says it can be returned within 60 days. Is this a precursor that soon all returns will need to eventually go to 30 days? Or maybe I never noticed before.
ReplyDeleteI think that's been the policy for a while.
DeleteAs far as I know, items purchased in-store have a 30 day return window and items purchased online have a 60 day return window. I don't think it's a case of stores not accepting any returns unless it's within 30 days. Worth double-checking, though! :)
DeleteOrdering online you really need 60 days...in order to receive pkg. exchange or return. it takes a long time....
DeleteSorry, I misunderstood the question. If the order is an online order, it can be returned at a store within 60 days. If the purchase was made in the store, it can be returned at a store within 30 days.
DeleteI can see the confusion with the question. Cate, you are correct - you can return an online purchase either in a store or by sending it back within 60 days.
ReplyDeleteSomething I keep in mind though - lately, I was retuning an online purchase in a store. I forgot the receipt, but knew they can track it easily simply by entering my email, then scanning the item code, but because that purchase was made over 30 days ago, SA had a trouble locating it. Initially I thought he doesn't know how to do it (never seen him before, presumed he is new) so I decided to come back another day with the receipt. But then a friend of mine had a similar experience - they could not "locate" an online order made more that 30 ago without scanning the receipt. So now I make sure I keep them for the full 60 days.
Wonder if it happened to others, or the SA was, indeed, new :)
Something else you can do in a pinch is, if you have a smartphone, bring up the order in email and give them the order number.
DeleteDelete them the moment i get the order, and i shop too often to see them as a recent history on my account....
DeleteI received my October style guide today. I have to say, this one was so pleasant to page through. I don't always love the styling, but all the smiling models was a surprise. Lauren Hutton! I love seeing her and she makes everything look good. I'll probably go through it a few more times, not so much for the purpose of determining if I'm going to order, but to see the happy faces.
ReplyDeleteI never got one ,,,but did receive a Madewell one. I'm too old for it.
ReplyDeleteI love the styling, wearable styles and happy familiar faces in the Style Guide and I have quite a few things I'm eyeing. But I discovered that calling the "new" coat a "Majesty Peacoat" and putting it on Lauren Hutton doesn't make it so ... the Jackies, Matchsticks, Merino Cardis etc. don't seem to be the same fabric and construction. I was sort of afraid of that and lowered my expectations. But I'm not spending $250 on a blazer that is all poly, among other poor renditions of "the classics." Buyer beware I guess.
ReplyDeleteI did stop in and tried on two items. The perfect shirt in cobalt leopard and silk drapey V neck blouse. I liked the cobalt leopard much better in person than online, the colors were muted but the pop of the cobalt made it. The V neck on the blouse was way too low but I liked the way it fit in length, slightly longer in the back. Nothing that I really had to have though, so left empty handed. Did not try on the new Tippis, they felt weird to me, kinda slippery and thin. They have also messed with the Majesty Peacoat, not sure if it was the same last year but it now has breast pockets but on the side. Interesting concept but not sure how it will look. I have a birthday coupon but could not find $100 worth of merchandise to buy to get the $25 off, which I find pretty sad. October has always been my favorite month for J Crew and in past years bought many, many items from that roll-out. Saw the catalog but for once did not even pick it up, mine has not arrived in the mail but I am indifferent. Did pick up an amazing Eileen Fisher wool sweater on sale at Nordstrom, tried it on at home and it fit like it was custom made for me. Plus my 2 favorite SAs from J Crew are working there now so even more reason to shop at Nordstrom.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree with you on the Tippi sweaters. I was excited to see new colors but all I had to do was touch them....ick. Felt slick to the touch like they have spun petroleum in them. I wore my flame tippi from yeasr ago the other day. Love those old ones. Glad I bought some back then!
DeleteThis doesn't belong here, but I wanted people to see it. Anthropologie has 20% off this weekend only with your Anthro card.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up Cate. Went into the store & located a couple of gems I'd been wanting all season (the maaike maxi skirt and the curved horn necklace). Also, picked up a deepa gurnani belt. Everything I bought was on sale; sale was also included in extra 20% off and even though I already have an Anthro card, they honored the 20% off.
DeleteAwesome!! It seems like they don't offer a percent off that often.
Deletetoday (the 20th) the factory is offering 35% off online. I may order the Factory wool blazer in green. It looks really nice and comes in at a nice price too.
ReplyDeleteWent on a recognizing mission...sizes, quality new stuff etc.
ReplyDeleteboatneck sweater....short,quality suspect..will not hold up
solid v neck cardi. short cropped and thin. do not like but pretty colors
longer style cardi (same from last year) nice I paid alot for my quartz color last year and it got alot cheaper...I would like the navy and burgandy but will wait this time.
the leopard print (with cobalt) is nicer IRL. but I don't do short sleeves. the silk/cotton shirt (long sleeves) version felt flimsy.
the jewellery IMO is terrible. sorry about this one.
Rhodes blazer first impression ...i like the navy and the style. . fits me in the same size as the regent (which I do not like) I am wondering if the rhodes is replacing the school boy?
Lokking around the store ( Vancouver Robsen St) I was not once asked if I wanted any help. never told about any promos and was ignored. I did not recognize any of the sa's (this is my go to store)
Not loving th new crosley bag either. Darn the next roll out has to be better!
I pick up the style guide.
OT: Check out my J. Crew NYFW Recap, Part I on the blog!
ReplyDeleteIRL photos of the Factory Walking Elephants Collector tee here.
ReplyDeleteI picked up the Gemma flats and the boatneck tunic in heather latte.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a win but I had about 8 other things on my list that I didn't like when I saw them in real life (one of them being the dawson plaid boy shirt in that pinky thistle colour which looked lovely online but not very lively IRL (sizes were going fast though so I must be in the minority)...also the spearmint rose plaid shirt and the v-neck blouse. These didn't flatter me at all.
As for the items I did buy, the Gemma leopard flats are so comfortable in my normal Jcrew size. I don't even think they will need breaking in. Also the 'pointiness' is not exaggerated like I find on some other pointy toe shoes this season. Keepers. Would have bought the jewelled Gemmas too, if they had them.
The boatneck tunic - wool version not the expensive collection cashmere version. I liked all the colors online, but settled on the heather latte. The Blue was not as bright as I thought it would be but it was still fine. I just don't want two sweaters like this in the same style. Heather latte won. As for fit...it is not short but it is definitely not so long that Jcrew should be calling it a tunic. I think the tunic in the name is a bit misleading. It's fairly average for a sweater length. I have heard a few comments about quality, but I did not think that was an issue at all. I really checked it over and thought about it too, because I went in with some reviews like that in my mind. I just don't see this issue. I think it will wear fine, It was also thick enough....any thicker and I will never wear it indoors in my casual office. It's a looser fit too, but I did not size down from my usual small as the xs started to look like a regular sweater and I wanted a relaxed look like the pictures online.
Happy with my purchases. Surprised I didn't leave with more though, as the new arrivals had me interested in quite a few things.
