This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.
So
if you have recently purchased,
or stopped by a J.Crew store to try
on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you
might be willing to share that
information with us in this post.
Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.
In
particular, if you could
mention a few of the noteworthy
details like fit, size, fabric, and the
like— that would be fantastic! Thanks
in advance! :)
New arrivals are out and I can't believe what I'm seeing - full length pants!
ReplyDeleteI am loving the new arrivals but am so sad the Chateau Parka is excluded from the promo! Should I just bite the bullet and get it at full price? It's nice to see so many of the coats offered in petite sizing. I'm loving the pants offered too, and would love to see people review the Patio pants in bi-stretch wool.
ReplyDeleteIf you want that coat in one of those bright, yummy colors, I would order it now. Last year, that pretty blue color was nothing but a distant memory come actual coat season.
DeleteIn case you are interested in the Gemma flat currently included in the 25% off promo, I've just posted a review here.
ReplyDeleteNot as big a rollout as I'd hope. Finally some length pants, but lots of poly, again. Would someone please give Mickey a catalogue from, say, 2008?
ReplyDeleteWhile they're doing that could they slip him a memo on lining pants! I am striking out on getting lined wool pants for work.
DeleteI think there's a good amount to love. I like the rich colors (Regent in velvet comes in some nice colors), the windowpane pants (although they are a wool/poly blend -- I ordered them to see what the blend actually is) and some really fun things. I ordered the plush teddy bear coat and the patchwork cargo pants just to see them in person. I remember loving both from the Fashion Week presentation way back when, so it's fun to see something from my Pinterest Board in real life.
ReplyDeletePlease do report back on these pants, they look v nice but I was leery of the blend. Am I right in assuming it's unlined?
DeleteI reviewed the sequin floral stacked dress today. Overall I love the dress, great length, light cotton with lining, striped and frontal cut are all good; but sequins are heavy and hard to maintain. Great piece though with 40% sale
ReplyDeleteHi JCAs -- review on Gigi's Gone Shopping of the vintage scarf dress & downtown field in burgundy. I have it and love the color.
ReplyDeleteThree words: FULL LENGTH PANTS!
ReplyDeleteHi - flannel shirt and hydrangea skirt review here and some Madewell reviews here
ReplyDeleteSome J.Crew Factory reviews here and here.
ReplyDeleteFireburst necklace. C1882. Three times was a charm. The first one I ordered showed up and was missing some beads in the center front. Returned. The second one came and it was the older version with the black bead at the end. It looked nice, but one of the black beads was broken. Returned. Finally the third one arrived and it was miraculously in good shape. So I guess it was worth the perseverance. I attempted to write a review to discuss the quality issues, but Customer Service rejected my review saying they won't publish comments about Customer Service. In my view it wasn't a customer service thing at all, it was a QUALITY ISSUE that reflected poorly on whomever made the pieces. Or the people in the warehouse who filled the order(s).
ReplyDeleteNext up, The Brulee Bracelet, e3524. They actually published my comment, surprisingly. The bracelet I recieved had a jump ring sort of clasp so it looked nothing like the one pictured on the web site. I see they haven't updated the photo like they said they would. Anyway, the jump ring clasp on bracelets is very difficult to engage by yourself and I avoid that at all cost. So I returned it and did not try again.
Next up. Ombre' Crystal necklace in the green colors. e3529. This necklace is unique and interesting and arrived in good condition and looked like what was pictured on the website. I kept it and expect to have fun wearing it this Fall/Winter.
I usually am more into gemstone jewelry with gold, silver, white gold, or rose gold, but decided to mix things up with some fun costume jewerly. I think I'm done ordering for awhile though, these recent experiences have sort of soured my view of J Crew, even though Customer Service was responsive.
OT, but has anyone ever removed the front polyester panel on their lady lace popover?
ReplyDeleteFactory shawl-collar cardigan sweater (c9743) - This is a pretty decent dupe of the rib-knit cardigan (b2827) from the retail side last winter. It's not as chunky/thick as the retail one which could be good depending on where you live. The navy was not as navy-black as JC's usual, and it seemed like it may fade if laundered. The collar is a little fussy, as you have to kind of roll it to achieve the look of the item pic. It's a fine sweater, but I'm undecided.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone compared the Factory Vail Parka to the Retail Chateau Parka? I wonder what the differences are?
ReplyDeleteVisually, the extra fussy seams at the elbows are not there on the Factory version. I wonder if the fit is same/similar, or if the fabric is thin/thinner on the Factory version?
Also wonder if the Vail Parka fur detaches (and if it is attached by buttons or snaps or permanently attached). And if the colors are nice or the same as the retail version.
Thanks for any reports!
I'd love to know this too! I actually bit on the Vail Parka in gray this morning ($188 with coupon), just to be able to compare. If it works, then I saved myself half the price.
DeletePlease report back if you can! Hope you love it!
DeleteWill do - I ordered yesterday morning and it's out for delivery today. Fastest shipping I've ever seen from Factory....
DeleteSo it gets a thumbs up from me. Snap removable hood and, while not as luxurious as the retail version, it's a pretty good rendition. I suspect it is a bit thinner than the Chateau parka but nothing as cheap as (IMO) the factory version of the Cocoon coat. I think the fur is less voluminous too (a good thing for me). Two sets of functional pockets. You can slide your hands into the upper ones but they do sit a little high for me. I'm 5'8" with a longer torso.
DeleteBecause of the large price differential, it's likely going to be a keeper. I am debating ordering the retail to do a side by side comparison.
Thanks for posting! This sounds good! The fur was too much on me on last year's retail version, so this might work better for me. I might give it a try, but I don't know which color to order. Thanks again!
DeleteJ.Crew Factory Friendly Foxes Collector tee - Runs big. Nice material. The foxes are slightly sparkly. IRL pic here. I also have the Factory Elephant Parade tee on order.
ReplyDeleteJ. Crew invited J Crew Is My Fav Store to Fashion Week! Follow her adventure on Instagram. The show is Wed.

DeleteThank you SO much, Gigi!!!!!
DeleteThat is so cool. Rynetta is such a cutie and a great ambassador for the brand.
DeleteWhat @Vava said!!!!
DeleteOMG, Vava and maryeb: thank you both SO much!!!!!
DeleteWell, that is a brilliant move on J.Crew's part, I must say!
Deletecarmencatalina: OMG, thank you!!!!!
DeleteThe sweatshirt with side slits (C9627) is very slim fitting. I tried it in my regular size and one size up. It has set in shoulders, which usually means I can't size up, but the size up in this one still fit fine in the shoulders. What I didn't like was that the sweatshirt emphasized my stomach fat, especially in my regular size. It was too slim fitting for me even in the size up, though, so it was a pass. Nice material. It has an unnecessary half zip in the back (why, J. Crew, why?).
ReplyDeleteThe tiered crepe top (E3043) in sunfaded blue is nicer in person than it looks on the web site. The color is great, fit TTS (Ina reviewed this on her instagram in ivory, thanks Ina!).
ReplyDeleteThe silk blouse in cobalt leopard (E1822) is great. It isn't the thin silk J. Crew has been using lately for tops, but it's not a substantial weight either. It's in between, and if I didn't know it was silk (I checked the tag), I wouldn't have thought it was silk. I really like it, though. The neckline (not too low) and hem are flattering. The fit felt a little off at the armholes for me, but that was how it felt, not how it looked. I thought it was TTS, didn't need to size up, I think that was just a minor fit thing. Colors are very pretty in person on this top, richer, I think, than on the Perfect Shirt with the same print (but that's nice too).
Thanks for the review on the cobalt leopard top--I was pondering that one, since I like the print and yay, it comes in tall.
DeleteI have a review and pic of the cobalt leopard top on my IG
DeleteCan anyone comment on the Madewell Mira heels? I bought a pair in my regular size and they're tight in the toes. I don't want to size up because they're already sort of wide on my foot as is. In anyone's experience, do these shoes stretch some? Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteI have two pair of these and I love them, but my regular size fits my feet without being wide in the toes and I have very wide feet (which is probably why I love them so much). Its hard to say if they stretch. I would think because they are suede, you could stretch them a bit (even take them to a shoe repair place and have them stretch them).
DeleteMore revies on my IG: two tone pleated combo dress, cobalt leopard sweater, cobalt leopard top and boyshirt in flannel check.
ReplyDeleteYesterday i reviewed the wool patio pants, the furry excursion vest, the tiered top,the vneck long cardi, the tweed campbell blazer and more!
@maryeb you asked me yesterday about the color of the drapey popover. I can send you a pic if you want to or you can see it on my IG laying on the chair in the background. HTH
Thanks a lot @InaMack! I can see the color of the top just fine. Wow, that combo dress is gorgeous. Wish I had somewhere to wear it.
Deleteadded review of the new beaded rose necklace; I LOVE the color, so gorgeous
