J.Crew Spotted in Lucky Magazine

A big "thanks!" to Desert Flower, who not only let us know about a J.Crew item being spotted in the recent issue of Lucky Magazine, but also scanned the image for us to view! (Click on the image to see it larger.)

The item featured is J.Crew's Camden Leather Brogues (Item 23936; $250.00) in Light Ginger. J.Crew describes them as the following:
A truly handsome (and seasonless) borrowed-from-the-boys wing tip oxford that we're absolutely loving with everything—from cut-off shorts to dresses, skirts and more. Nubuck (nutmeg, black) or waxed napa (light ginger) leather upper. Leather lining and sole. 7/8" stacked heel. Made in Italy.
These shoes have grown on me! I find the details of the classic style to be absolutely darling. It's too bad none of my local stores are carrying the Camden, as I would love to find out how comfortable they are.

What are your thoughts on J.Crew's Camden Leather Brogues? Have you tried on or own a pair? If so, please share! :)

  1. Hi, this is what I commented on a previous 'J.Crew Reviews' post about the Camden Brogues:

I own the Camden leather brogues in light ginger, i took my usual size 6 and they fit perfect. However, they might be somewhat narrow for someone with a wider foot. The leather is really soft and i found them to be quite comfortable (for a JCrew shoe). The light ginger color has a peach undertone, not quite the nude color i expected. Even so, the shoe is beautiful, very well made and looks expensive. I really want another pair, the suede ones, but it will have to be until/if they go on sale.

Needless to say, I love them!

  2. If I hear the term "borrowed from the boys" ONE MORE TIME......

  3. I saw the pastel petal perfect shirt worn by a model in an advertisement for Oscar Meyer lunchmeats. I was at the dr's office, I think it was Better Homes and Gardens I was reading.

  4. I originally got these in light ginger, but they sat in their box since I found it difficult to use that color in my wardrobe (plus I so wanted the ice cream pink color that was seen in the spring lookbook -- those sadly never materialized).

So I recently exchanged them for classic black and absolutely love them. I know they will get a lot of wear, especially outside the summer months.

    These are very comfortable shoes!

Yay!! I was desperately in need of a FS code to order the scalloped zipper cardi in black and the candy-wrap mini, on sale now!

Maybe they'll send out an email tomorrow morning. Hopefully this offer is for everyone, not just randomly selected people.

  6. Sorry, but the free shipping is not for everyone.... certainly not me!

I need a free shipping code! ARGH!

  7. I pre-ordered these in the light ginger, as I was told they were the same ones as in the lookbook. They definitely weren't - these are closer to a ginger/mustardy yellow, rather than a blush or cream.

I did find the blush/cream ones though (at least my PS and I *think* I did - I don't think they're an exact match, but they're pretty darn close). They're in the children's section (here), so if you can fit into girl's sizes, you may be in luck. The nice part is they're about $100 cheaper as well.

  8. hmm, I wanted them in blush/cream. So are you advising I don't order online but go through my PS? TIA!

  9. Thanks everyone for your comments!

Also, congrats Heidi, Miss Penny Z., Lolo, & Jenny on the shoes. They are so very pretty! :)

Molly: LOL! I know what you mean about the term. It's overused by now. We need a new catchphrase. ;)

  10. Ahh, I should clarify - I sent them back, because I didn't like the color at all. When the shoes were released online, I panicked when I saw the online color, and called my PS, who went and checked and said that the shoes were more blush than mustard. Maybe she was looking at a prototype shoe or something, but they were definitely the way depicted online, so I sent them back.

Karen - not sure if your question is directed at me, but there is a beige color in the girl's brogues that is very close to the blush/cream shown in the lookbook. If you can fit into children's shoe sizes, you could try those.

  11. I love the shoes but not the price tag.

  12. I have a pair in nutmeg, I really like them but haven't worn them yet... assume I will more in the fall. The price tag is outrageous but I got mine at a sample sale for $20. Otherwise I'd never own them!

  13. @Em: That's amazing! Where was the sample sale? Were there more when you were there?
