I have one suit and don't like the nylon/lycra fabric to swim in. Does anyone have positive feedback on their suits regarding fabric? Is there a style that works better? TIA
ReplyDeleteI bought my swimsuits for this year several months ago, so I won't be making a purchase with this promo.
ReplyDeleteI love the Jersey Lomellina fabric. The colors are rich and the fabric very soft and silky. Comfortable to swim in as well. The Foldover Wide-Band Hipster is especially good because the fold is tacked with a single thread when shipped, meant to be removed. It allows you to decide how low you want the rise and you can even wear it all the way up if you're feeling more modest.
ReplyDeleteLike FFM, I bought my swim earlier this year, took advantage of the 20% off your order promo, so I'm done for a while.
I by my swim wear from JCrew off season. You can get some really good deals that way...I mean $10-20is fantastic. I love JCrew swim suits.
ReplyDeleteDoes this apply to sale swimwear too or FP only?
ReplyDeleteI want the cape stripe suit badly and it's gone in my size.
ReplyDeleteI was on a J.Crew break for a while because I'd spent way too much and was annoyed at the quality of certain items, but I had to jump back in to snap up one of those goregous tulle suits with this promo. The one piece is totally sold out in black, but I managed to snag one in the pale pink. Hoping it doesn't make me look huge. Anyone else tried the tulle? Is it as pretty as it seems? Is it at all useable in real life?
ReplyDeleteI recently purchased the Thicket Floral banded halter and bikini on sale-fits perfectly and I love the print. The fabric doesn't seem as high quality as some I've owned though, and the lining is thin with no padding in the bust. Still, I'm happy with the purchase.
ReplyDeletea bit OT but has anyone ever attempted to return or exchange a final sale item at B&M before? I ordered a cardigan that runs a bit big and I should have sized down...alternately is it possible to shrink cashmere a bit? lol....
Sharon: I have shrunk the cashmere down by about one size in the past. I just wash in woolite on delicate and put in the dryer, taking it out every 10 minutes or so to verify it doesn't shrink too much.
ReplyDeleteThat said, if the language in the description does not state that it is oversized and the item is available in a smaller size now, I would call CS and explain your situation. They will most likely remove the restriction without any grief and the store will be able to see that when you return the item. I had the same issue pop up last week with the cashmere lux hoodie. While the item had other issues (it had clearly been worn and had a stain) it was not noted to be oversized online and arrived too large. I got the final sale restriction removed without any issue.
I've never been stuck with any FS merchandise, I just call up and state my case and I've been very lucky that they have removed the restriction. I don't make this a habit of course :)
I just ordered the luxe tulle underwire top and matching bottoms on the phone the other day. I used my student 15% discount, and the SA gave me free shipping because I was doing an exchange. Though I would have liked to have an additional 5% off, I don't think it's worth the hassle :)
ReplyDeleteAlso, I have high hopes for the tulle underwire top! I'm usually a 34D, so I definitely need the support; I tried on the 34D in the top, and the cups fit perfectly (wow!) but the band could have been tighter---so I sent for the 32D, and hopefully that'll be just right.
J Crew's swimwear department is one that hasn't let me down over the years. I purchased several during the last swim promo and I had the toughest time deciding which one to keep.
ReplyDeleteLike, Genny, I'm big on the off-season swim! I have a half drawer filled with separates and one pieces snagged in the $7-20 range. Since they hold up, I don't need any suits for the next who knows how many years! I've never had a problem with fading or shrinkage, and the fit is pretty consistent, though some bottoms run a bit big.
ReplyDeleteKaren, if you have any concerns about swim, I'd call CS and do your order over the phone and explain you're trying JC swim for the first time and they'll be able to make a note on the order you can return.
Do people really swim who don't live on the coasts? I can't remember the last time...
ReplyDeleteSharon, while I do most of my ordering online, I have NEVER had a problem with J Crew exchanging a FS item. They have always been wonderful about this, and it is one of the reasons that I do shop FS with confidence. I would call J Crew, explain the situation, and let them contact the store. I too have had to shrink cashmere before, but an even exchange would be so much easier lol. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteCheesyGoodness,
ReplyDeleteI have a draw the same....filled with my bargain suits. I won't be buying another one now for a few years. I had to get the ruched one piece that is strapless in the purple shade that came out this past 2010 season but that is it! They do hold up very well over time. I have lots of one pieces mainly but a tankini and a couple bikini's.
Wow, the sale was kind of cleared out by tonight. I helped my mom find a one-piece and it was a struggle to find the size she needed in something other than black, navy, or brown. Every print one-piece in her size was sold out!
