J.Crew Email: EXTRA 20% off final sale & FREE SHIPPING. ENDS TOMORROW.

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Marietta, who shared with us the latest email from J.Crew this morning.

J.Crew is reminding customers that they can take 20% off any purchase from the Sale section {no minimum} and free shipping {on $150+} with promo code EXTRA20. This offer expires tomorrow, Thursday, 6/15/10.

Also, "thanks!" to many of you who have been reporting back from trips to your local brick & mortar (B&M) stores. From the comments, it sounds like stores are still offering customers an additional 30% off Final Sale (which is fantastic!) Not sure if the B&M's promotion will end tomorrow though.

So far, I have not taken advantage of this promotion. There hasn't been anything I needed to get that is available online only. But hopefully you are all getting some great deals! :)

Will you be taking advantage of this promotion? Are there any sale items you are interested in getting before the promo ends?

  1. So far I scored a couple pocket tissue tees, black serge pencil skirt, rosette pins, and the gingham blazer with the 30% off Final Sale in the stores. I "hate" buying FS items, but at least I got to try them on, plus they're all things I'll wear a bunch.

On another note, I'm so excited that the vintage bateau top in dark pewter is FINALLY going to ship to me! It's been backordered since the beginning of May!

  2. I have not taken advantage of this promo. Nothing I have to have. Just made a lot of returns so need a break!

Maybe if there was free shipping no minimum I might bite on one item but will pass for now.

  3. There was an update overnight (200+ items added) so I bought 3 tees and a pair of shorts for my son, plus a vintage canvas bow tank in muted grape, as it popped back overnight for $19.99. I hope it actually ships! I have the same top in light ginger, ivory, slate and charcoal gray (meep) and I was sad because I missed the grape one. :-P

Only bummer was that I had free shipping on my crewcuts stuff (yay, i keep forgetting about that) until I added the bow tank, which tacked on a $5.95 ship charge. Aaaaaarggghhhh.

  6. Completely OT- but I have to sing the praises of Land's End Canvas. I just placed an order on Monday from their summer sale. This morning nearly everything from my order was further discounted, so I called to ask for a price adjustment. The CS rep was super nice and didn't ask me any questions or hassle me or give me a "one-time courtesy" line, just asked me to read her the item numbers and she adjusted them all. I saved over $40!!

There are some really good deals this morning...check them out if you are done with FS shopping at J Crew!

  7. I did order, but my ps did it from the store so I got 30% off. I got the coral jackie and 2 crewcuts dresses for my niece (for next year). Love my ps and his awesome store manager!

  8. maureen1125, thanks so much for the heads up about the lower prices at LEC. The dress I ordered is now a lower price. Since I ordered it more than 14 days ago, the CS couldn't give me a price adjustment, but she informed me that I could still return the dress to a Sears store. I think I'll do that and reorder. Thanks again!

  9. Maureen, thank you so much for the post related to Land's End Canvas as I was able to get the additional mark down adjustment after calling. They were super nice!

  11. A quick Lands End Canvas question...does anyone have the Fit and Flare dress that is now $26.99? I think it used to be called something else, right? What a great price. I'm wondering how it fits...is it short? Thanks!

  12. Holy Land's End sale! The nice thing is that the few things I was looking at earlier in the season are now about half what they'd have cost had I bought then

If I was a good girl, I'd be buying Christmas gifts right now! :-D

  13. @Amy here is a short review of the Fit and Flare dress: http://www.drbabymamadrama.com/2010/07/lands-end-canvas-review.html

I have seen it on a few other blogs also and it appears to be above the knee but not super-short.

I don't have that dress but I have been really happy with everything I have ordered from LEC.

  14. thanks so much, riley. i feel like that would be a great piece to move into fall with tights, boots, and a cute cardigan. and let's face it...you can't even buy a skirt for $26.99! thanks for the help.

  15. I don't suppose anyone can comment on the way the swimsuit bottoms fit? Specifically, the Women's Swim Essentials Print String Bikini Bottom?

I'm very much between a med and a large at this point. I think I will probably get the large, as it says minimal coverage (eek)...?

  16. Has anyone tried the the size 00 cotton pimm skirt or any size 00 (regular) for that matter? I am thinking of ordering it online and don't want to be stuck with something I'll be swimming in. TIA.

  17. Yes, I bought 3 LE Canvas items when I got the sale email this morning. There are free shipping codes at retailmenot too......

    ReplyDelete
  18. Totally OT, but Banana Republic sent out an email this morning with a code for 40% off two items online. I'm trying to buy a full suit so if anyone has a code and doesn't plan on using it, I would be eternally grateful if you would forward it to me!

    closetchronicles@gmail.com

If you want a 40% off Wednesdays in stores coupon, I have an extra that I can trade! TIA!

  19. Here's a LEC free shipping code (expires Friday). Code: INFORMAL. Pin: 2944.

Andrea, I'll send you my BR e-mail. In case you didn't know, it's only good for regular-priced items. Enjoy your new suit!

  20. I didn't want to use this promo because I am a little bit shopped out and you can find better deals in the stores but the Griffin coat was available in my size and for $80 I decided to give it a try (final sale comes and go on my computer. It was FS when I put it in my cart and when I checked out it was gone). So I also ordered the patch necklace that I have been watching for a while and seems to be completely sold out in stores. I added a blurred checks scarf to get free shipping.

  21. The B&M stores still have the extra 30% off as of today. The spots and sparkle cami is now $9.99! The 5 Avenue store @ 45th Street has plenty of sizes (many size 0). It's $6.99 after the 30% off! It's too big on me so I didn't get it... I guess JCrew is really desperate to move the inventory!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Lauren,

Thank you SO much! I totally owe you one :)

  23. I ordered a bunch of things. Sale cashmere, two jackies, oak tweed skirt, ink dot skirt and the carly dress along with the space dyed cardi. I ordered a lot, but got really good deals. I'm still debating on getting the Alecia's on sale...

    ReplyDelete
  24. And there Mickey was saying (in last months' WSJ's article) that he "hated markdowns".

Well, desperate times calls for desperate measures, my friend, even for a top retailer.

    Welcome to the Great Recession.

  25. Ha! Bought from both this sale and the LEC sale...just shows how conditioned I am with JC...I didn't even bother to call LEC for a price adjustment on the cute sailboat shorts I bought on Monday and I probably could have! Well, everything's being delivered to my folks house while we are on vacation and they live very close to a Sears :).

DH skipped JC but went to town with LEC...their plaid workshirts are great and a total steal for less than $19. He also bought the madras shorts (much more reasonable than JC's), vintage hoodie and some board shorts.

From JC, I got a couple of the cashmere crewnecks, dolce cable knit sweater and some CC stuff to round out for free shipping. I was tempted but held off..really don't need stuff as much as DH and kids do.

  26. Thanks LaurenPhD for the LEC code, and also to Caroline who gave me some LEC fit advice in a previous post.

I have sent back my last 5 or so items to JC because of quality or hotmessness, so I'm testing the waters with LEC. I ordered the Fit and Flare dress and also the convertable dress. Can't go wrong at these prices!

  27. Still nothing for me from J.Crew. My in-store PS said new arrivals are in the store next week.

OT on LE Canvas: I ordered the Fit and Flair dress, Pleat Front Dress, and Smocked Slub Jersey Dress the week before last. (After receiving the order and seeing how cute the Pleat Front Dress is I also ordered it in Navy, which will be arriving in the next day or two). I asked for a price adjustment this morning after seeing the reduced prices and saved myself $54. I did have to reorder the first Pleat Front Dress in a smaller size and it just arrived yesterday. I am keeping it plus the Fit and Flair Dress. I'm planning to post reviews and pics on my blog in the next day or two for anyone who's interested.

  28. Hi FFM, how did the smocked slub dress work out? It looks so cute online. Can't wait to read your reviews!

BTW, I have now purchased the pleated front dress because of your rave review! (:

  30. Hi post-fab princess! I ordered the black Smocked Jersey Dress in XSmall and XXSmall. The color is actually more of a faded black IRL (which I didn't care for), but the fabric is really substantial and feels good on. I would say it's thicker than the jersey that J.Crew is selling right now. As for the fit: I seemed to be in-between the 2 sizes. The larger one was a bit too big while the smaller one was a bit too small, so I ended up returning it. The v-neck in front is pretty low and fitted, so anyone with a larger bust may have issues with gaping a bit. Overall though the quality is really good for the asking price, and I would have kept it if it had fit me well (although I probably would have swapped it for the mushroom color instead).

What color did you order in the Pleat Front Dress?

  31. OT: I also have a BR 40% off code for online use. If anyone is interested in it just email me:

  32. The brick and mortar stores just got additional price cuts today (or maybe it was yesterday), as I was informed by a sales associate. The Island Paisley Pocket Cardigan is now down to 39.99 from the previous sale price of (I think) 69.99 - if your store even has any more, that is. I walked into the Downtown Seattle store and found several, and by the time I came out of the fitting room I was holding the only one, lol. That one miniskirt with the blush-colored rectangular petals is down to 49.99, from the previous sale price of 89.99. Really crazy prices if there's anything you like.

    ReplyDelete
  33. By the way, in case it wasn't clear, the new price cuts apply to everything on sale, not just the few items I and others have mentioned. Well I think everything, maybe a few exceptions.

  34. Hi JCAs,

I have an extra BR 40% off coupon code that another lovely JCA graciously emailed me just now, but I have already purchased my suit and have no use for it. If anybody would like to use it, please email me at closetchronicles@gmail.com

    ReplyDelete
  35. About the BR 40% off coupon: I went into a store and was give a coupon after I asked, no big deal, no purchase required.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Andrea - I just emailed you the BR 40% off code, before reading through all of the posts and seeing that you already received one! I have no need for it, so feel free to offer it to someone else. :-)

I stopped in the Madison Ave (NYC) store tonight, picked up the Fiesta floral tunic (27013) in black plum for $27.99, and the Liberty tulip mania perfect shirt (25911) for $48.99 - after the 30% off. They had a lot of the Spots and sparkles cami (27283) priced down to $9.99 - 30% = $6.99. I can see why it is priced down so much, I don't like it at all! Sorry, pass for me at even $6.99.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Marietta,

Oh, I love that cami. I don't wear animal prints--or own any--until this cami. It looks really pretty on...LOVE:)

  38. FFM, I'm looking forward to reading your LEC reviews. I was considering the pleat front dress as well. I'm 5'10" and am thinking that it might be a little short, though. Also, is it lined?

    ReplyDelete
  39. Hi Genny - I'm so glad that you love it! It just wasn't me, something about the clusters of paillettes and rhinestones just bothered me. Enjoy wearing it! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  40. FFM - I got the navy in the pleat front dress. I hope it works out and isn't too short (my pet peeve!). I passed on the slub dress because I was unsure of sizing and length...

    ReplyDelete
  41. Marietta,

Thanks so much for your generosity anyway! I really appreciate it :)

JCAs, I still have the code(s) so please feel free to email me!

  42. Yea! Thanks so much for all the LEC info and especially the review of the fit and flare dress, which I just ordered! I struck out miserably with JC's dresses like this: the Jessie got a hole in the slub the first washing, and the cotton Rosella dress was a growdy mess of epic proportions (I mean, a tight underlayer plus goofy pouffy? I should have known from the picture...). I have a knit top/cotton skirt dress by Maeve from Anthro last year, and I wear it as soon as it gets washed, so I have high hopes for the LEC version! It's great to hear so many good customer service anecdotes about them, I'm glad some companies put forth the effort to keep us smiling and buying! The last line of the last email I sent JC's CS was: "Quality control is killing my shopping buzz!"
I could just plotz, all I got back was a link to the return guidelines.

  43. Grabbed some tees for my daughter and a few things for me and nothing showed as FS! The fall arrivals are calling my name already, so I better reign it in for awhile.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Just an FYI~ the Fleurette pencil skirt was in my B&M for $29.99 before the extra 30%!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Lauren-what is your store? Do you know any sizes? TIA :-D

    ReplyDelete
  46. Karen- Burlington, MA. Lots of 4s, a 6, I believe 8 and 10, and 0.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I love the style of the blazer - but the colors are just not for me, which keeps me from coveting something waaay out of my price range.

As for BR, they also play some games with promotions - I got a 40% off one each week (for one item, two, whatever) and as soon as I ordered something it stopped coming.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Amy and post-fab princess, I have the pleat front dress in navy. I had a hard time deciding whether to keep it because it's shorter than I expected (I'm 5'4" and it hits me a good three inches above the knee, though I do have long legs). I generally prefer skirts and dresses to hit at the knee or just below, but for some reason, where the dress hits makes my legs look great! So at $44, it's a keeper. Oh, and it's fully lined and nicely made.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Eeep! I'm about your height Lauren PhD, but if it's that short on me I'll have to return it...I just can't pull off anything above the knee.

    ReplyDelete
  50. On the topic of LEC...

I grabbed the Fit and Flare dress as well as a great dress shirt the the LEC store down the street from me last night. Awesome prices! The SA said they would probably be unveiling the first pieces of the fall collection either the last week of July or the first week of August.

  51. Amy and post-fab princess: I just posted pics of the Pleat Front Dress on my blog:

  52. FYI, girls, I just returned from the Durham, NC store and they have made further markdowns on select sale items, along with EXTRA30 still in effect!

What we know as the Fleurette skirt (rang up on my receipt as ?Jezabel skirt) is now down to $29.99 (-30%, final sale, of course) ... there were several 2's, a 0, a 4, a few 6's and one or two 12s left.

They have one Fleurette dress at $89.99, several of the Fleurette shirts (also marked WAY down).

The starfish shorts went down to $19.99, so I got a pair, couldn't resist for $14 ... then .. wait for it ... the spots and sparkles cami for $6.97 (after discount). There is exactly one size 10 left, if you want it, call!

Hmm, what else ... neon madras shorts down to $19.99, there were a couple of Carly dresses, white ones and navy ones (I know one navy one is an 8) ... one lonely organza sash tissue tee, size Med, $24.99 (before discount), and one dark gray sequin necklace tank, size L, $29.99 (pre-discount) etc.

If you want to know anything else, ask, I might remember (but may not). HTHs someone!

    ReplyDelete
  53. I received my order today.

I thought the Featherweight cotton long cardigan - mint julep was a soft bluish green. But it turns out very green. No hint of blue whatsoever. Can it be the color setting on my computer? I regret not ordering the pale blossom instead.

It was good that I ordered a size up for the Cotton-wool ruffled placket cardigan. I think even another size up would be fine.

Not all the items turn out to be final sales. Since I got free shipping for shopping over $150, will they charge me shipping if I return some of the items? Has anyone tried that before?

    ReplyDelete
  54. Elaine: Do you emember if the jackie or the breakers plaid shirt were marked down further? Last week they were both $39.99. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Michelle, I didn't see any Jackie cardis in the sale section at all, just one Jackie shell in a very pretty pink color, size M, for $29.99. They definitely had several of the Breakers plaid shirts, as does the Raleigh store, but I didn't check on the price. Give them a ring and ask, can't hurt! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  56. Thanks for the info Elaine. I called the Durham store and it is currently $19.99 before the extra 30% off.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Piccione - you will be fine with your returns and will not be charged shipping. I've done that many times and you are just refunded the line item - no "penalty" for now dipping below the free shipping min.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I received the Gingham Schoolboy Blazer yesterday and it def runs small. I usually take a 0 or 2P and had to size up to a 4P BUT I feel almost certain that I could even have gotten away with a 6P!!!

Today I received the Fiesta Floral Tunic in the beautiful black plum color and it runs BIG. I got the XS and was very comfortable in it sitting at yet another HOT baseball game. If you are super tiny this will be a pass for you unless you want to shrink it (which I may very well be doing!)

Got a pair of the 5" chino shorts in Pebble and they run TTS. I took a 0 like always.

I know that it is not for everyone, but I am in LOVE with my Spots and Sparkles cami. I got a pair of J Crew Capri sandals in chocolate to go with it and have already received MANY compliments even tho I had it paired with nothing more than J Crew denim bermuda shorts in Adore Me wash (I rolled these to about 7").

  61. eyelet bow blouse is now $14.99 in stores before the extra 30% off.

  62. The Oklahoma City B&M store will be doing 30% off all sale items until at least Tuesday of next week. The selection is terrible though. I bought a single sweater there and then came home to make an online order. I hope that other have better luck than me.

    ReplyDelete
  63. The gingham school boyblazer ran true to size on me. I own 10's in all my JCrew jackets and this one was a perfect fit. If I had to say anything it might even be a tad larger in the bust! but fine overall for fit. I returned it b/c I wanted another jacket from Talbots instead that I knew I would wear more.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Like everyone else I hate when it's final sale, but I got a couple of slim stretch shirts in colors i didn't already have, plus the ink blossom skirt after reading Gigi's review and some other blog posts. When they arrived yesterday, nothing had final sale on the receipt. What what I think I've read in the past, doesn't that usually mean that I should be able to return them?
