Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available in the WINTER & HOLIDAY sale, or to see some new RESORT arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Has anyone seen the slub cotton ruffle v neck on sale in stores? It's on sale online right now. Thanks!

  2. Does anyone know what time the updates are in the morning?

  3. Kristin...I was just at my store today in Mission Viejo CA and it was not on sale. When I mentioned that it was on the final sale online the manager was surprised because she just received her shipment.

I just bought it on final sale and realized I probably ordered a size too large. Its at least standard sizing if not a bit oversized.

  4. Pakcola, usually the updates start happening at about 9p PST, but aren't necessarily visible in the sale section yet. You have to do searches to find the markdowns. Also, as you might expect, the updating is a process, rather than an instant change -- the inventory changes over a period of a couple of hours. That makes it tricky because you don't want to lose out an item that's already been marked down and is low on inventory, but then you don't want to pull the trigger too early and miss something amazing... Anyway, I'm on the west coast, and am very often up at the time of the updates (unfortunately for my credit card). I would be more than willing to stalk items on behalf of other people, rather than buying more things I don't need for myself. Let me know if there's anything specific you're looking for!

  5. Thanks for letting me know Verity.

I'm on the West Coast too and I notice things start getting updated around 8-9pm but some items show the red message already, so I'm not sure if they are sold out or not update yet. Either way if you come across at XS Black Tori Cardi let me know!

  8. I won't be going for awhile, I just had foot surgery yesterday afternoon. I ordered a few of the new pieces online, so I don't miss out by the time I am up and around:

Crosshatch cotton pencil skirt in pewter
Crosshatch cotton Blaine jacket in pewter
Suckered gingham perfect shirt in dusty shale
Merino ethereal ruffle cardigan in misty aqua
Long beach cardigan in light pewter
The dogwood bracelet, earrings & ring in gold, which I mentioned in yesterday's post about the necklace.

  9. Pakcola, I have found (on average - it varies) that the items move into some kind of "limbo" where they show up in searches, but not on the sale page, around 12-1am Pacific Time. Then they're on the sale page, but "sold out", between 1-2am. The items start appearing as avaiable around 2-3am. I fell back asleep at this time and by 4am the ones I wanted were sold out. So if you happen to be awake, you can catch 'em around 2-3am Pacific Time. I wake up for work at 4:30 and sometimes a few pop-backs are left, but the popular stuff (like jewelry - I bet they are being bought by ebay resellers!!) goes right away before 4am.

    Hope that helps!

  10. If anyone sees the women's gingham check shirt in navy, size 2 in their stores (item 23050) please put on hold and e-mail me at mjr001@gmail.com. Thanks!!

  11. I won't be going to the store this weekend. I understand new items will be out next week, I'll plan a visit then. My store is positively barren right now, almost no stock, and the tiny sale section is very picked over. There's no reason to go in!

Verity, can you email me at mrsnonia@aol.com?

    ReplyDelete
  12. If anyone spots a Grosgrain Triomphe jacket, size 10 or 12, either color, could you pleeeease let me know? TIA! :)

    ReplyDelete
  13. There is a med. french terry cardi from last year available right now in the sale section! This is one of my favorite pieces EVER. Someone snag it!!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  14. Dessert Flower,

Yes, I was wondering in the same thing. Is there any stock much in stores? I have free time this weekend but won't be able to get in for a long while when the new stuff is coming out....so will miss it. So wondering if it is worth my time to even go with the 3 day weekend.....poor timing for JCrew. Should have had the roll out this weekend!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Caroline - thank you so much! I was surprised to see it on sale online when it had just arrived in the stores. I tried on a white one and thought the small fit me better than the medium so I agree with you on it being a bit big. I really want the grey color and stupid me I should have tried that one on in the store too just to make sure the small would be the right size (you never know). I'm thinking of holding off on ordering - they can't possibly sell out of those just yet. But thanks for letting me know about the B&M pricing - no need for me to rush over there.

And I too am a West Coaster - wish they would do a 9PM update for us sometime!

    ReplyDelete
  16. I will probably go in to do some returns. My B&M is really empty as well, but every now and then there's one or two good returns to the sale section that I snap up, like the cashmere V-neck cardigan. I wish all colors were on sale online. The discrepancies in pricing between online and in store get really frustrating.

I also get frustrated with the sale updates online too. There have been a few things I've been looking for, like the black Tori cardi in small and other colors of the cashmere v-neck cardigan, but I cannot seem to catch them.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I was just at my local B&M where they get all the new collections 2 weeks early. I love many of the new spring items that are coming out...looks a lot more promising than the latest releases. A lot of new pretty cardigans, new colors. The jewelry was divine...I purchased a new necklace (not sure of the name) but I believe it was the necklace that Jenna Lyons wore on the Martha Stewart show. A lot of really gorgeous must-haves. Does anyone know when the next roll-out will be available online?

    ReplyDelete
  18. An SA told me that the next rollout will be on Jan. 25-26th. Probably not worth going til then.

    ReplyDelete
  19. lilac cupcake,
Thanks. It isn't worth it I think too then. I maybe be able to go the last Sunday this month or early Feb. Hopefully, rewards cards will be out by then too. Otherwise, I will wait it out b/c I want mine to use....if I make the trip.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Has anyone been able to find the Wool Twill Studio trousers in copper at any of the stores? The only sizes left online in this color are petite or tall. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  21. I pulled the trigger on a couple of sale items this morning -- the denim pencil skirt which I've been eyeing since the fall, and the Juliet tortoise shell patent midheels.

I also got the new broken-in boyfriend chino short to make the$150 total to get the free shipping -- does anyone know if these fit the same as the full chinos pants from last spring? I had to size down for those so I did the same for the shorts. They look cute, hope I like them!

    ReplyDelete
  22. I went yesterday to do some returns. They are still doing 30% off final sale but the whole back side was so bare people kept on asking if they were closing down. Will probably go to B&M for the next roll out.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Thanks AC! But I'm not sure I can wake up at 2am haha

Does anyone have the Harper crackle heels? They look sorta nice, not that they are available in my size anymore...

    ReplyDelete
  24. Pakcola, I actually WAS up at 2 a.m. (finishing a work project), and at that time the Tori cardi still had not appeared.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Anyone know the extent of sale inventory remaining at 45th & Madison in NYC? Every time I've shopped there in the past couple of weeks I forget to look at the racks of sale cords (hard to move around with the other sale shoppers) and I'm considering a pop-in at lunchtime...

    ReplyDelete
  26. Ooo, they have tortoiseshell Juliets. Just in case my size comes back, can anyone speak to their comfort? I don't wear heels often, but those are so pretty!
OT, but I have reviews of some older items/Matchsticks up on my blog if anyone wants to see some pics.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Verity, thanks for checking!

If its meant to be I'll eventually find it, if not its all good :)

    ReplyDelete
  28. Rachel --> I scooped a pair of those tortoise Juliets -- I have a pair in another colour from fall 08 that I wear to death, they're amongst my favorite shoes. Definitely worth it, IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Pakola-
I was in the Chicago Old Orchard store yesterday and they had a fair number of shoes in the sale section and I believe they had the ones you are looking for. Might be worth a call. Haven't been there in awhile, but the Troy, MI Sommerset collection store usually has a lot of shoes.
Yes I travel a lot for work!! bonus I get to visit some fun jcrew stores!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Clicquot-Thank you! FS is always so iffy. especially with shoes. They are so pretty!

    ReplyDelete
  31. I was in a store earlier in the week and heard another customer ask the SA if the store was closing because it was so barren. The store isn't closing - it's just, apparently, not giving consumers any reason to walk in and browse. I had a return, otherwise I wouldn't have gone in. The place looked dead from the outside, and didn't little to dispel that notion once inside. Seems a curious strategy, to make the store look so unappealing. I think several JCAs have mentioned the next roll-out is Jan. 26-27(?)- if so, that's still nearly two whole weeks of stores lacking in enticements to come in and shop ...

    ReplyDelete
  32. OT: but did anybody out there notice last night on 30 Rock that Tina Fey's character was wearing the cotton check shirt in navy/white in the "Black Light Attack" episode? Even with her moustache she looked great!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Rachel Jane --> With sizing for the Juliets, I have learned to go a half-size bigger. The first pair I bought were 7.5 and while they fit ok, I find that 8s fit better for me in JC heels.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Longshot to be sure, but has anyone seen the stardust pencil skirt in stores? If so, was it still full price?

I'm not holding out much hope but you just never know... right?

    ReplyDelete
  35. I don't think I will be going, but if anyone should see a

cotton check shirt in NAVY (23050)size 2 or 4, could you *please* put it on hold for me?

    or thornbush drop earrings 24003

    Thanks so much ladies!

  38. If you're in the NYC area, J. Crew is hosting another sample sale starting on Tuesday. Here's the info (from nymag.com) courtesy of my city friends:

"J.Crew is hosting a sample sale on apparel, footwear, and accessories for men, women, and children. The women's featherweight cashmere cardigan is $60 (originally $158), the women's cotton trench coat is $70 (originally $168), men's suede boots are $60 (originally $135), and men's wool suiting blazers are $149 (originally $365). Through 1/23. 261 W. 36th St., nr. Seventh Ave., second fl. (212-947-8748); T–F (10–7), S (10–5)."

Unfortunately I don't live in NYC but hopefully some of you will find some cute stuff there!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I think someone mentioned they were looking for an xs wool ribbon coat in stone. Santa Monica, CA has 1 in stock, as well as 2 gray olive tops in size 2 and 1 black banquette dress in size 0.

  40. This comment has been removed by the author.

  41. Instead of J. Crew, anyone check out American Eagle? I just scored a plaid duffle coat, a cashmere sweater, a pair of boots, two pairs of flats, and a wool hat for about $100, all from the clearance section. Extra 30% off on clearance items, use code 56079843 (or search online) for an extra 15% off.

No notes yet on how the cashmere is - the regular price is $79. But, I have an AE near work, I can stop by and return whatever I don't like in person.

  42. Friendshipe Heights Store , MD has infinity necklaces both in crystal and orchid at $59.99-30% off, I also saw Infinity earrings in Orchid marked down to $29.99. They had quite a few of them hanging on sale rack.
Also saw couple of Dream sequined coterie shells in S and XS, marked at $69.99. Black reindeer tees are now $14.99. Few cords, pants and charcoal wool gathered skirts in large sizes.
    30%off still on.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Oh, and store was barren too- tons of empty shelves awaiting new merch and not much on sale rack except what I have already mentioned.

    ReplyDelete
  44. clicquot - I tried on the boyfriend shorts in the same size as my boyfriend pants and found they fit the same. Of course, the boyfriend pants do stretch out some. It's possible that the shorts will do the same.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Still 30% off sale at Beachwood Ohio store. They didn't have anything... except for one thing that I bought, which was the perfect pencil skirt in dusty blossom. It was a return. today must have been my lucky day! It was $48.99 after discount. Not too shabby.

  49. Just wondering, does anyone know if there will be a sale in the factory stores for MLK? I went end of December/bg of January and the store seemed really empty.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Can anyone tell me how the denim safari jacket fits? It's popped back up online and I was thinking about getting it. I got a different green safari jacket this summer and had to size all the way down to a small (I normally wear a large in tops or 10-12 in jackets).

Although looking at it again, it's only $79.99, down from $98 originally. How old is this piece? Shouldn't it be cheaper? LOL.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Sudafedam - thank you so much for posting about the Sz Wool Ribbon Script Coat in Antique Stone. Sadly I called the Santa Monica store and they didn't have the coat but I really appreciate you posting about it. Maybe they had one and it sold. Have a great weekend :)

    ReplyDelete
  52. Oops - I meant Sz 0 - and I am still looking if anyone sees one I'd be really grateful if you could put on hold and email me (sorry to go one about it...)

  53. OT: I was curious if anyone tried the Land's End Canvas items yet. I'm eying the Heritage Poplin in the men's section because I'm a sucker for small poplin. Any comments on quality? I know that JC still has the women's gingham perfect shirt, but I have broad shoulders and I'm right between sizes with the JC perfect shirts. Plus, I can stomach $29.50 with free shipping vs. $69.50 and $8+ shipping! :)

    ReplyDelete
  54. audball: I had a post about the Canvas line last Saturday on my blog. I purchased a cardigan from them a couple months ago and it's beautiful...really great quality. There were several comments from others about their purchases, too. Here's the link if you want to check it out. :) Land's End: The Canvas Line

    ReplyDelete
  55. I have bought from Land's End since 1983. I have not had any desire to try out the canvas line but the regular LE is really getting more fashion forward and has 3 cuts to their tops making it easier to get the right fit--loose or tight--that you want.

    ReplyDelete
  56. audball,
Does LE Canvas have a free ship code out?

    ReplyDelete
  57. FFM, thank you for posting that link, I've been waiting for someone to post feedback on the Canvas line and I hadn't seen this. I long for well made washable cotton sweaters and Canvas might have that. I buy plenty of cashmere from J. Crew but washable cotton seems to be becoming a lost art.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Regular LE has beautiful cotton sweaters that wash well but LLBean's are even better for cotton sweaters IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  59. The LL Bean cotton sweaters really are outstanding and will outlive us all come the apocalypse. I found my teensy grandmother one in a thrift store ten plus years ago and she wears it like twice a week and it still looks great! It's a cotton cardi with a tiny birdseye design woven in, and I've been so jealous of it since I got it for her! I check back with Bean every year but they've never made quite the same one.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Em - how do you find the color and fabric of the dusty blossom pencil skirt? I read some comments that it was a difficult color but I think I like it. I also read the fabric was not the same as the others, can you comment on that? Wish some of the other colors would go on sale as well...

Nicole - I have the denim safari jacket and it fits TTS, not two sizes larger like the boyfriend military jacket. I am a 10 in tops and took a M in the safari jacket, as per CS recommendation and it fits well but there is no extra room in the bust, I can't layer underneath, only a tee or light sweater. This is a lovely jacket, the waistband hits a little on the high side for me but I'm tall. Very lightweight, great for resort or spring. HTH

  61. I second all the comments about Lands End. Their quality is superb. I love their outerwear. Warm and well-made. BTW, if any of you are interested, they offer an alternative to the JC Skimmer Pant. This one is on sale for $14.99. The big bonus: they will hem it FREE OF CHARGE! Link is below.

  62. I bought the Lands' End Canvas small floral cotton shirt (with sleeves that roll up and button, I think it comes in floral & solids) and it is really cute! They always have a free shipping code out somewhere, I google Lands End Coupon and find the codes and you usually need a pin, too. Free shipping AND 25% off is not unusual for Lands' End

    ReplyDelete
  63. Audrey - THANK YOU for posting about the AE clearance. Looks like the 15% off has expired, but I still got some awesome deals. :)

    ReplyDelete
  64. FFM: Thanks so much for the feedback! I'm off to check out your blog now! (I usually check it more often, as I love your stylish tips :)!)

Genny: Here's what I received for Land's End Canvas

"Enter the Promotion Code CANVASFREE and the PIN 00007142 in the space provided." Offer only valid for Land's End Canvas, in US and Canada, Thru Thursday, January 21st , 11:59PM

  65. jcrew1985: Thanks for your feedback too...Appreciate all the help, everyone!

  66. Hi CaptainCrew!

I just compared the dusty blossom pencil skirt to the two others I have, in the gray and cinnamon stick colors. The fabric is the same. As far as the color... it is really hard to describe. It reads like a beige color to me. I held it up next to my perfect patent heels in the pink color, and next to those, the skirt doesn't look pink at all.

I think it will go with alot of things, I say go for it! I also wish the other colors would go on sale. That would be really nice. I got the cinnamon stick at a b&m on sale. It sucks how all colors went on sale in the b&ms weeks ago but not online.

size 0 gold coin skirt for 39.99
    infinity earrings for 49.99

    at downtown San francisco saw
size 6 shimmerveil flats for 49.99
bling cardis in every size and color don't remember the price
mataleese pencil skirt for 99.99 in size 0
    these are before discount

  70. At the Austin Barton Creek Square store there are about 10 black wool pencil skirts on sale..can't remember price....but in an array of sizes ranging from 0 on up. The rest of the section is pretty picked over but there are lots of cords, misc sweaters, coats and shoes. Probably all returns....I may go back today for a pair of shoes. As far as new items, they don't have many: lots of the cotton popover tops, boyfriend shorts (size down....they run huge), and the Ruthie tops and a few of the new tees....even some swimsuits.

Also, after the tip-off from Fabulous Florida Mommy, I placed an order with Land's End Canvas for the yellow pea coat, the floral roll sleeve top and a couple of tees and scarves. The coat was very cute and fit TTS however, I saw a similar one at Target for 34.99 and think i will try that one for the price! I ended up keeping the floral top and one of the Boyfriend Ts as it was a color that JC does not offer. Nice quality for all items so I will be keeping an eye on this line!

    ReplyDelete
  71. Thanks Em! I ordered the skirt, I'm sure I will like it. Unfortunately the other popback I was stalking didn't come back but I'll be happy with the great deals I got.

Has anyone tried the dotted jacquard pencil skirt 25089 yet? The description says nylon/cotton. I wonder if it is shiny or noisy at all. Sometimes nylon can make that whooshing sound when you walk. It would be in my cart now if it were a non-synthetic blend or all cotton. TIA!

  75. I snagged a sherpa hoodie and a gray ribbed hat for an additional 30% off at the Madison, WI store this morning. About half the store seemed dedicated to final sale items, and boy were things sparse! There were plenty of dolce sweaters, though. Just wish it weren't a women's only store since my bf loves J.Crew, too.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Nicole, I purchased the Cotton Safari Jacket and it fits TTS. I'm a size 4 or small in tops and purchased a size small in the jacket. I guess JCrew doesn't feel the need to decrease the price so much yet since it sold out the first go round. I'm only wondering why it's not displayed in the FS section...why do we have to 'search' for it? You'd think they would want to make it more available to us. Must be part of the 'game'.
