"Thanks!" to many of you, who shared the latest email J.Crew sent today.
J.Crew is reminding us that customers can get 20% off any purchase from Final Sale {no minimum} and free shipping {on $150+} with promo code EXTRA20. This offer is good until this Sunday, 1/17/10.
It is also worthwhile to point out that most brick & mortar (B&M) stores are offering an additional 30% off (as oppose to the 20% off the email states).
From the comments, it sounds like lots of JCAs have been able to get pieces at incredible prices, including some coveted popbacks. {yey!}
Will you be taking advantage of this promotion? Are there any sale items you are interested in getting?
Looking for information regarding:
ReplyDeleteFit and fabric of the Perfect Pintuck Suiting dress (20252). In particular, is it shiny?
Color and fit of the Silk/Twill del Pelato shift dress (17641). Its called out as butterscotch but the color looks different than the Super 120 butterscotch. Is that accurate?
Thanks much!!
I took advantage of this in the afternoon... got a nice cashmere sweater for my fiance on a popback, and some "ridealongs" for myself. It was definitely the free shipping that made me pull the trigger. :)
ReplyDeleteI have been buying from this promo but it's been basics - several spring colored cashmere cardigans and original fit chinos.
ReplyDeleteI caved and got some sweaters suitable to wear now through early summer (I live in Vancouver and it's cool now and temperate till May'ish) plus some jewelry... definitely drinking the crewlade...LOL.
ReplyDeleteThe 20% off did it for me, as before...helps to offset the duty. I never shop if I have to pay for shipping... the combo is dynamite for my wallet.
wow there are some cut throat late night sale update shoppers!!! I refreshed 2 items for 1hr until my size was available and quickly tried to check out....but 1 sold out before I even hit complete order!!! grrrrr.....
ReplyDeleteif anyone has any color silk pleated posy top item 18679 size 6 available, please contact me asap!!!
I've done well with the latest promotion. Picked up several of the Annalise tops and the Selby satchel in dark caramel and black. As another JCA mentioned, living in Canada it's very worthwhile for us to take advantage of such promos. It really cuts down on the cost (shipping and duty).
ReplyDeleteI have been very good. I did not buy a thing during this latest sale!
ReplyDeleteHinna, sorry you missed your top! Cut throat is right, especially since I think most of what pops back is severely limited in quantities, like one or two of a size.
ReplyDeleteI am pushing back from the table on this sale. I had to break my rule of not placing a new order if I'm waiting for a package in transit, but I was able to snag some goodies! I finally got the tango tank in the light grey and it'll be warm enough to wear it in just four short months. Ha, ha. I also bought an ultra knit hoodie, a Jackie in breeze, the Vivi printed flats in plum to wear with greys and purples, and a bit of this and that for DD. One order I placed was like a dollar under to hit the minimum for free ship, so I added one of the cute little Schleich animal toys to go over but not TOO over.
Yesterday I wore an outfit comprised of what seems to be kind of unpopular pieces, the alpaca long shawl cardi in heather fossil over the scoopneck shoulder sash dress in thistle, both of which have been hanging around final sale for a dog's age. I'd debated returning the cardi due to price, but I kept trying it on and liking how it felt. I wore them with darker grey tights and black mary janes, and was cozy and very comfy all day long. I was surprised to get several compliments since I was starting to think of the two as FS orphans! For the record, the alpaca was really soft, no itching for me, and was quite warm for such a delicate knit, although there were a few underarm pills at the end of the day. I can't be happier with the little dress, it was like $24 after the discount and it wears nicely. The sash sat flat under the cardi which mostly obscured it, and the ruffle at the hem was darling flouncing an inch or two above my knees. I threw it in a laundry bag and washed it in the regular cycle, and dried it flat. It dried overnight and looks like new which isn't always the case with jersey items, so I think this is one of my fave buys for awhile.
I picked up some basics, inc. more bootcut cords (can't get enough of them!) and some fave fit khakis. I also grabbed a Forever cardi in the berry color. I got the bright hydrangea color and am IN LOVE. What a great sweater. Also picked up another Eden blazer in the tawny olive color. Since I never saw that color IRL, what are some of your thoughts on it? Is it a nice, deep, saturated color, or is it lighter?
ReplyDeleteHope everyone else is snagging some good deals this morning :)
Hinna, there are several posy tops on eBay, prices average around $37.99; I have seen some as low as $29.99 and as high as $59.99. Hope this helps...
ReplyDeleteI have, for the first time in recent memory, resisted the Crewlade. I think it's been about 10 days since I bought anything (LOL). I think I was so excited to find (at my local B&M) my long-coveted sherpa hoodie and one of those awesome reindeer beaded tees -- the white one with the brown reindeer, the nose is made of iridescent sequins, it's precious! -- that I'm not feeling the need for anything. Part of me wants the ikat streamers top because it's only $29.99, but I'm trying really, really hard to see if I can make it 'til Feb. before I buy anything else. :-P
ReplyDeleteOT, but does anyone know if Banana Republic has any better promos around this time of year than the one that's going on? There is something that I want, but I am wondering if I can hold out for a better promo.
ReplyDeleteCheesyGoodness,
ReplyDeleteI have that same dress in Thistle and LOVE it. Yes, the material is thin and I am too cold most of the time to wear it now even with a sweater but I like the color a lot and the ruffle and it will come out once it warms up. I have no idea why it is still in the sale section either! Gigi likes hers in gray too:)

ReplyDeleteI too took advantage of the promotion and bought a slim fitted shirt and the cafe capri's in golden hickory. The capri's were such a steal! For those who aren't sure of the sizing for these pants, I would size down. I'm normally a size 2 or zero, and so I went ahead and ordered the zero. It's still a little baggy, but I'll keep these since I'm expecting (my third!) and I'll fill them out eventually. This morning I went ahead and got another pair in double zero in the same color, and stone, as well as the summer weight chino cocktail capri. Hopefully the cocktail capri's won't be too tight, I went on a whim and got the smallest size after my experience with the cafe capri's. Does anyone have the cocktail capri's? Do they stretch out during the day? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteLilaccupcake- I just went to the GAP yesterday, and the SA said there's a promotion coming up on 28th Jan. where cardholders get 25% off their purchases for a week, this is for all the GAP, BR, and Old Navy stores. HTH!
ReplyDeleteI had been eyeing the printed silk posy blouse for a while and got it this morning - does anyone have it? Seems nice for spring.
ReplyDeletelilaccupcake, IDK about BR, sorry. But Gap, kids, baby, and body were all 50% off sale prices which was nuts. babyGap had a ton of the cute baby Robeez shoes which we LOVED when my daughter was small for really cheap. Best deal was a $70 down coat for next year, knee length with removable hood for $15, but two years ago we got mens down jackets for ten down from $100 or so, so I guess deals just aren't what they used to be.
ReplyDeleteGenny, I'm glad I'm not alone, and in such good company! I was tempted to get another color this morning when I saw how nicely the thistle washed, but I'm trying to be better about buying multiples unless it's basics.
CheesyGoodness,
ReplyDeleteYes, I know what you mean. I am sticking to the one color as well. No multiples for me. Been down that road and not really nec. when there are so many cute clothes/new wants that come along:) Glad to hear it washed well. That is good to know as mine will be sitting prettily for a while before I wear it. So no worries there and with JC lately that is an issue.
Does anyone out there own the tortoise watercolor skirt? I have been looking at this one since it was FP and may go ahead and order (with a few ride alongs to get the FS). TTS? I usually wear a 0 in pants and skirts from JC. Also thinking of ordering some of the ultra knit pieces (hoodie and lounge pants...)if anyone owns these and an comments on quality and sizing.
ReplyDeleteit took all of my will power last nght when i saw all those popbacks around midnight Vancouver time... i grabbed the boyfriend utility jacket and loaded up the cart with a few slim fitted shirts and a bracelet, my "kinda/shoulda/wanna" items to make the $150 free shipping limit, and before I could complete the sale, the jacket got sold out! just saved myself a bunch of money...phew! if someone's looking for a deal in BR, there was an email coupon for last thursday for 30% off entire purchase if over $100, which i'm sure will repeat over the spring. and we're still enjoying the weekly 40% one item coupon given out during Boxing Weekend, with 2 more coupons left. happy hunting everyone!
ReplyDeleteby the way, as i haven't bought or tried on pants from JC for years, how's the sizing and fit compared to banana republic's? i usually take a 10 or 10P at BR, and need a straight or full cut in the leg (should probably stay away from anything "toothpick" eh?) Also the fitted shirts... how do JC's compare to BR's? I take 6/8 at BR...any advice would be much appreciated, thanks gals!
ReplyDeletetxmom, I have the ultra knit weekend pants. They are the banded bottom style with the drawstring. SICK comfy. I've worn them 3x, washed twice and there is a small amount of pillage, I think due to the poly content. I love the fabric, though, it is very soft and drapes nicely. It is a thinner, flat knit, without the fleecy inside like typical sweatpants, and they have a slimmer fit that stretches very little after all day wear. I was glad I didn't size down, like I do for most "active"/lounge wear pants, since they seem to have a shorter inseam than I'm used to from JC. This could also be due to the elastic cuffs, but they're right at my ankle with very little extra fabric and I'm only 5'5". The only problem I have with the pants is that the top is drawstring only, no elastic like other similar bottoms from the Crew, and I have a toddler who loves to pull on strings... double knots for me, to be sure! In all, I liked the pants enough to stalk the matching hoodie all week, which I ordered a day or two ago, as well as a pair of the loose bottom lounge version of the pants to keep them company. HTH.
ReplyDeleteThanks, CheesyGoodness, this does help. Not that I NEED them but thought the pants and hoodie would be comfortable!
ReplyDeleteI took a tip from another JCA (Shulvr maybe?) and did some Christmas shopping for next year during this promo. Got some great gifts for DH, my mom and my son - they all love the Crew. I'm considering the perfect pencil in dusty blossom and stalking one other item for myself but it is always jumping out of my cart before I can check out so I may be out of luck. The hardest part will be keeping these deals until Christmas but since most of it is fall/winter I won't have to worry about that in a couple of months.
ReplyDeleteCan anyone offer an opinion on the dusty blossom pencil skirt? TIA
Thanks for the tips on BR, folks! I appreciate it :)
ReplyDeleteCaptainCrew - I have the dusty blossom pencil skirt and I love it. The weight is nice for cold weather, but the color will transition into early spring. I've worn it with camel tights and boots, and either gray or ivory on top, but I think it will be great with black too. Definitely worth it.
ReplyDeleteKris - thanks for weighing in on the dusty blossom skirt. I think I will really like it. I want a few nude shaded pieces to update my look and I always love a pencil skirt from J.Crew. Great to get a good deal on it, too. I appreciate the styling advice as well, will have to give it a try.
ReplyDeleteWas at the B&M today and they said they will not have a rollout until the 28th. Considering how empty the store was, that was sort of laughable. I said to the SA that I had never seen the store so empty. They said neither had they. They said the goal was to have less to inventory. I'm no retailer but is counting so hard that you would give up several weeks of sales so you can count less?
ReplyDeleteElizabeth I think it's for tax purposes too.. I don't think a store wants a ton of inventory at the end of the fiscal year...not just wanting to count less.
ReplyDeleteThe SA had made the remark "less to count" but I'm sure you're right, it must be for tax purposes. Why else would they have entire walls and tables bare in the store? And in the back sale section, more bare walls with a couple Eden jackets hanging in each section next to the 30% off sign.
ReplyDeleteLots of customers asked what was going on, I'm sure the SAs are weary of it and they have another two weeks to go.
I planned to place an order during the 20% off sale, but now it's the last day and I still haven't seen anything I really want. I guess I should have gotten up earlier for the pop backs. I am, however, greatly enjoying the cobalt blue sherpa puffer jacket I bought a couple weeks ago. It's nicer than I expected and the color is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteMy bf and his buddy are going to an outlet mall in NJ today. He bought a nice suit at a BR outlet a couple weeks ago and he's hoping to find another one at this location. I asked him to pick up a couple embellished tees for me at the Crewlet, if he sees anything good.
Hi gals, just as an FYI, I was in my B&M this morning (Durham, NC) and I spied a charcoal gray wool ravine dress, size 6, at $69.99, our store is still doing an extra 30% off. I almost bought it for my coworker and then realized I don't like her QUITE that much, LOL.
ReplyDeleteAlso a paisley perfect shirt (felt like silk - and I *think* it was the terra paisley) - size 6 and $49.99, plus extra 30% off ... hmm, what else ... a long sherpa hoodie, size XL, in a pretty peachy color I haven't seen anywhere else. Lots of bling cardis, a decent selection of matchstick cords down to $29.99, a few tees (lots of Bal d'Hiver)
If I saw JCrew so bare I would think they might be going out of business and I wouldn't want to shop there. So what if for tax purposes and/or counting. Just doesn't look good to the average consumer....
ReplyDeleteITA Genny. Stores with no inventory are almost always having severe financial problems. Supposedly JCrew is doing well, but as a stockholder, this makes me very nervous.
