"Thanks!" to Marietta who shared the email Madewell sent yesterday.
The email features the Denim Engineer Boyshirt ($78) which is described as "our latest take on traditional workshirt– we think it's right on track".
Once again, I am reminded that I am not Madewell's target consumer. I just do not get how this workshirt costs so much. Yes, it's pretty in its simplicity. However, there is no fitted-tailoring, no extra-special fabric that's flown in from some world-renown mill located in a far-away land inhabited by unicorns, to justify the price tag.
The email also reminds us that Madewell is offering an additional 25% off their "end-of-the-season" sale at local brick & mortar (B&M) stores. This offer expires Monday, 1/18/10.
What are your thoughts on the Denim Engineer Boyshirt? Do you like or dislike the style of the shirt? :)

I'm willing to pay$ for a unique item, but like you said Alexis, I'm not seeing anything special or unique for the price. This looks like a piece you could pick up at Target.
ReplyDeleteI like the shirt, but I wouldn't pay full price for it.
ReplyDeleteI also like the shirt but think the price is a bit too high. I would definitely consider it on sale though. :)
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know when online sales start for Madewell?
ReplyDeleteUnicorns! Where do I sign up?

I've been waiting for a review of this, in this color. That is too bad about the collar because it looks so cute on the model. Plus it was the only shirt in the latest roll-out that I liked. That's too bad you had that experience, DinDin. But I appreciate the heads up!
ReplyDeleteOops. I meant that last comment for the post above. My bad.
